"Thank you, Bro!"
"Whatever, Sis, I won't be helping with your homework next time," I closed the door. "You do it yourself, good night."
"I know I know… Night."
God damn it, that's the third time that happened this week. My sister is getting lazier with her homework and distracted by YouTube videos. I'm not going to help her lazy ass if she asks again. I need a damn snack.
I head to the kitchen and open the refrigerator. It's filled with the usual stuff: Milk, half full for eating cereal tomorrow, Meat is still good for a few days, some veggies, and a few other nick-nacks.
One caught my eye in the corner top; a single ball of candy in a blue wrapper. I don't remember buying this one but I do tend to impulse buy sweet candy so maybe that's the reason why it's here, I must have put it there and forgotten about it.
Oh well, I took it out and tried to see what it was. Maybe I bought it in a local candy store somewhere. None. There's no brand name, nutrition value, or even an ingredients list. Odd, did I buy it in a flea market or something?
Unwrapping the thin wrapper, it's a rainbow ball with layers, blue-green on the bottom, then yellow-orange, and then pink-red on the top. Is it hard candy, bubble gum, or both? Is it rainbow sherbet?
Should I be eating this? It does look good and taking a sniff, it doesn't seem expired.
I'm going for it. I proceed to put it in my mouth and begin to chew on it.
Ugh…! What the hell is this? It's disgusting! Why did I buy this?
Good lord, It's soft and chewy and it slowly dissolves. I want to spit it out already. I could feel my stomach turning inside out.
Fuck it, I'm going to do it. What my grandpa always said before he passed, 'What you started, you never leave it unfinished.'
"Bro?" Oh shit! She's still up?! I nearly tripped as I heard her voice. I thought she's asleep already! I heard her door making a creaking sound. "You ok?" Oh crap, oh crap!
"Yeah, I'm fine, sis, just uh," I assured her as I continued chewing frantically. How am I going to explain this to her? "Eating some candy?" How I'm still able to continue talking while chewing this dog crap is beyond me.
"Eating candy? Really? Late at night?" I stood silent while I tried to chew as fast as I could. "And from the sound of it, You're not exactly loving the flavor." Oh shut up.
"Uh… Yeah? Urp," I can already feel the contents disappearing in my mouth and I want to vomit. I don't have time for this. "Yes, sis, I'm eating candy late at night," I admitted, as I crushed the ball candy with my teeth. A mistake in which I got more of the flavor. "You know how I can be dumb sometimes. Ugh." Like she doesn't know that already.
"Whatever, it's your body." With that, I heard her lights turn off and the door closed. I'm sure she went to bed this time. Asshole.
The candy pieces finally dissolved and swallowed it before I felt myself gagging in my mouth. I quickly grabbed a cup of water to rinse the taste out of my mouth. And after taking a deep breath for air, I felt my heart beating at a nice and even pace.
You know what? Aside from the awful taste, it gave me a boost of energy. It felt great. Two out of ten would not recommend it.
After I threw the cup away in the trash bin, I went to my room and opened my door.
Ah… good seeing the mess of useless toys on the floor. I haven't cleaned it in weeks.
I checked my phone as I closed my door gently, so my sister wouldn't wake up and make fun of me. It's about 2:48 AM, and I need to sleep for work.
I groaned as I went to the left side of my bed and tossed the decorative stuffed toys to the floor and then I removed the covers before I sat down. I put my hands on my eyes and cleaned them. Damn it, I'm so tired...
Hm? I noticed a dirty yellowish thin tail poking out of the stuffed toy pile in the corner of my eye as I finished cleaning it. I reached towards the mound, took it out with my left hand, and pulled it out.
It had ears with black tips, brown lines on the back, and I turned it to the front.
Looking at the stuffed toy's yellow dirty face; it had black beady eyes, red pouch circle cheeks, and a little smile on its face.
Pikachu... I still remember this thing. I can't believe I still have it. Mom always wanted to get rid of it, but my stubbornness and my love for this stupid toy may keep her from selling it.
God, It's been years since I watched that old show. What was it called again? Pokémon? If I remember right, didn't it start with a ten-year-old boy who got a Pikachu as his partner who then became a Master by the end of the fifth season finale? What's his name again… ah, Ash Ketchum!
I always wondered as a kid what it's like to be a Pikachu.
Didn't it start as an RPG for the old Gameboy? Red and Blue, right? I think they have sequels that were short-lived based on the metal colors.
They also have special editions, the one with Pikachu and some crystal dog on the covers. I still have them; I just misplaced them somewhere in my mess of a room, but I haven't gone past the first or two bosses, and I quickly lost interest.
If I recall, other than a few remakes like the GBA, DS, and those Let's Go games on the Switch recently, Pokémon wasn't popular in the West when it came out. Nowadays it's been called a cash grab for the hardcore fans.
I heard It's gotten the reputation for certain items to sell for high prices, and this stuffed dirty mouse is one of them. Maybe that's why Mom wanted to get rid of it.
Don't get me started with those old cards. One Charizard card can go for up to billions of dollars in the United States.
I yawned loudly as I took a look at the clock on my phone again. Christ, it's almost 3 AM, and I have been looking at my old toy for that long? Yeah, I need to sleep right now.
I tossed the old thing back to the toy pile, took off my contact lenses and put them on the end table, and laid on my back on the bed as I sighed heavily. The alarm on my phone is set to wake me up at 5 AM. Not enough sleep but just enough for me to get dressed and go to work at 6:30 AM. So I won't have to worry about being late, that is until my boss is being a bastard again when I get there.
I slowly feel myself drifting to sleep. God, I can't wait for work to be done tomorrow.
…
…
…?
This is a weird dream. A darkened blueish void, filled with sci-fi lines surrounded me. Whoa… awesome… techy.
Where am I? There's nothing much to do while I wait to wake up for work tomorrow, right? You might as well have fun.
I attempted to move my arms and legs, and they responded with a spryness I'm not accustomed to. I feel so light here, like a feather floating in space. I noticed my limbs are relatively small and glowing pure white, not sure I shrank while dreaming this, but holy shit, I'm an angel or something?
Wait, am I confined? I notice an outline of a circle or sphere, with those kinds of vaporwave things in music videos coming out of them.
"..w… the...o..oth...w..y?"
What the hell was that? I looked around to find a source. No dice. It sounded like a kid but I can't make out what it's saying.
I tried to move my body forward, finding myself floating as I extended my small glowing arms up in front of me to get a feel of some sort of a wall or something. I reached outward, and my hands grazed against an invisible sphere-like wall. A little cold to the touch, which I didn't expect but at least I can feel my fingers, but I can't see them. This dream is getting weirder by the second.
"We… th… ..s...on…ft.. "
There it is again. I still can't make it out, but this one sounded deeper I think.
"Hello?" It's a long shot but what else am I supposed to do? Do nothing? "Is anyone there...?" I called out, tapping the walls to get some attention from the voices.
"P..fe..sor I'll t..ke I…!"
What? The only thing I caught was 'I'll'. I'll do what? What do you want to do?
"If y.. in...t."
WHOA! What the hell was that?! I found myself stumbling floating back. The whole place suddenly moved up! The entire thing just brightened. Nonono... Oh shit, shadowy masses surrounded me. Panic! PANIC! NO! I want to wake up! This is turning into a fucking nightmare!
"I s….ld w...rn y...u. Th...e ..s a p….m ..th t... l..t ..e t...s ..e w...s ca...t af...r we f...d it c...ing ...e w...s in t… b...k."
Will you shut up! Are God and Jesus talking to each other? Have I died in my sleep? The hell is going on!?
"I… n..d t... H..ve a… po..k..mon."
What are you talking about?! Mon? I don't care about a Mon!
".l.r...t. We… n... Th… ca…"
Oh shit! The whole place got dark, and the sudden movement didn't help either! Starting to breathe quickly as I began to do the only thing I can think of, Pacing. I floated to the left side of this hell-sphere and pushed it, and did the same on the other side. Come on, come on… is there a way out of this to wake up?
"W...a w..ats...ha...p..en..ng P..fe..sor?"
What? Am I getting the voices' attention? Forgetting my pacing, I push the right side of the sphere again just to be sure.
"I'm. ..ot re… su… th… ne..r... ha….p.. … be..re"
Ok ok, at least I'm getting their attention. I still can't understand what their voices are saying! I just want to get out!
"Just wake up, damn it!" I screamed. I haven't felt desperation since I was mugged a few months back.
"Profe..or, t..e b..l is sha...king a l..t!"
Shaking? Wait, I can get out of this hellhole? Oh my god. Maybe I can wake up this way!
With newfound confidence, I try to escape this damn sphere prison. I kept moving all over the place, making noises, anything, even with no other way to proceed but I won't let that stop me.
Wait. I just noticed there's a line in the middle and a small circle. This is the way out? It must be, I wasted no time as I head full-on to push to get the fuck out of this nightmare.
"Uh… w..t... I do, P..fe..sor O..k?!"
God damn it, I know that little circle is a way to get out of here!
"Be c...l, A..."
I heard the voices again; they're desperate. I kept pushing the circle. Haha, take that, assholes!
Holy crap, this is tight, but I can feel the prison getting loose little by little.
Come on… push… push!
"W..t, d..t pr..s it, Ash!"
I just heard a click! Yes! It's opening! I got it to OPEN! I can finally wake up from this nightmare!
"Ash, l..k out!"
"FREEDOM!" I yelled triumphantly as I felt my lungs feel the breath of indoor air and proceeded to wake up and open my eyes. Good lord, It's damn bright! I can barely see! I could have sworn I tur-
AGONY!
SWEET GOD OF JESUS, THAT HURTS!
Immediately I felt the intense pain of a concussion and the ringing of my ears and I felt my body hit against the floor.
"A..! A...e you al...ht?!" The ringing of my ears is killing me, I can barely hear anything!
"Y...ah. I'.. ok…. O..h," Ngh…! It fucking hurts! "I.. he o..? T...t lo..s li.. it hurts r...ly bad."
I let out a whimper, rubbing my forehead to relieve the pain. Holy Christ, ain't that a kick in the damn head. I heard the ringing of my ears fading away. I need to open my eyes. I try to ignore the pain to slowly open them, Fearing for the bright light again.
There was no light, I only saw an old man with gray hair with a lab coat surrounded by people with similar coats as the old man with the clearest vision I had. They all have concerned expressions from what I can tell, especially the boy with raven black hair and green pajamas with sneakers. I can see the details of his face crystal clear.
What the hell? How can I see without my contact lenses? I'm near-sighted. I can't even see my fingerprints until I put them very close to my face.
What in god's name is going on here and why is everything so huge?
"Hey, you ok?" While I appreciate the kid's concern, I didn't say anything. Gah shit... My head is still pounding. I grunted a bit before getting up in a sitting position.
Taking the opportunity with my new vision, I found myself getting a view of my surroundings. I was in some sort of lab, the nerds with glasses were looking at me before returning to their work.
"In any case," I hear the old man clearing his throat. "Say hello to your new Pokémon," he says as he puts his hands behind his back, "Its name is Pikachu." I tilted my head as I looked at the old man in a stupor. Pikachu? I'm a fucking mouse?
In my panic, I made a mistake crossing my eyes to see a small snout with a black nose and noticed I have yellow fur and... are those paws?
Using the newfound paws, I felt my eyes widening as I reached up my head to suddenly feel two ears that are not human and turned behind me, more of the fur with two brown stripes and a lightning bolt tail in which I can freely move it around.
Holy shit, I'm a stuffed animal! I'm a human being stuck in a rodent fursuit! That old damn toy has something to do with it!
"Wow, this is awesome!" I heard the kid say, but I ignored him as I started breathing in and out slowly to calm myself regarding my situation. "All right, then, you're my Pokémon!"
How… did this happen? Wasn't I sleeping after I helped with my sister's homework last night? To wake up at 5 AM?
What did I eat or drink last night? Am I in a coma? If I am, then my family already sent me to the hospital by now.
Oh shoot, my work! My boss was waiting for an excuse to fire me! He wanted me gone for a while and now he has the perfect opportunity!
"Aw. It's so cute. Looks like I got the best one." Crap… I forgot about the kid. I looked up at him. His eyes sparkles as he crawls to me. Whoa, stay back, dude.
Wait, why does he look familiar?
"You'll see," said the old man. His voice was deep but… that sounded familiar too.
"Oh, hi, Pikachu." The pajama boy picked me up with his hands under my little arms. With a massive smile on his face like I'm a Christmas present.
"Uh… hi?" It was all I could mutter out.
"My name's Ash Ketchum. You and I are going to be best friends!" He declared as he spun me around. Gah fuck, dizzy…! Ash…!
Wait, Ash Ketchum?!
The Ketchum?!
The Pokémon Master?!
And the old man… Does that mean he's Professor Oak?!
Then I'm Ash's Pikachu?!
My heart began racing as Ash stopped spinning me. Holy shit, I can't believe it. It's every old 90s Pokémon crazy fan's dream. To live in the Pokémon world. What the hell did I do to deserve this?
Ack!
Hugged! Too much!
I patted Ash's shoulder frantically as my lungs began to lose oxygen. "Air... Air!"
"Ash, I believe that's enough." I heard the Professor as I looked at him with a pleading look. Come on, help me out!
I suddenly felt a surge of energy escaping from my cheeks and then I heard Ash scream in pain. Holy shit!
"It's the Electric Mouse Pokémon," I tried to let go of Ash to the best of my efforts but it was futile with his surprisingly hard grip on me! I'm hurting Ash! Make it stop, make it stop! "It's usually shy but sometimes it can have an electric personality." Professor Oak, what the fuck, you sociopath?!
I felt the electric shocks stop before it got worse. My cheeks started to sore and I began to hear Ash's groan. "I see what you mean…" He lets go of me as he drops on the floor and I fall on the floor on my back and grunted in pain before rubbing my cheeks. I stood up as my eyes locked to Ash's body and my jaw dropped.
Oh my god… he's heavily twitching, his groaning in pain from the shock is apparent.
I killed Ash. Oh fuck...!
Gulping heavily, I looked up to the Professor and feared for my life that I killed his likely adopted grandson, but to my surprise, he looked amused.
The hell?! Why aren't you angry?!
"Well, my troublesome Pikachu," Oak chuckles, which left me flabbergasted. Does he not care that I just murdered Ash? "He will be alright. Don't worry."
"What the fuck?! I killed him, you old hag!"
"Whoa! That was AWESOME!" CHRIST! What the hell?! How is Ash not dead?! No person should've survived that! "Oh boy, I can tell we'll be best of friends!" Ash shouted as he stood up and picked me up again. How and why was he able to live that? "I can take a little zap!" He exclaimed proudly. I'm still in disbelief of how he's been able to move after that!
"All right, then, if that's how you feel, here," Ash gently puts me down on the floor. I decided to ignore the fact that I basically almost killed Ash by accident as I turned my head to the Professor, giving Ash in his hand a Pokéball that had a lightning bolt on it. Wait, isn't that what I think it is? "This is Pikachu's Pokéball. I suggest putting him inside."
"Ah! Thanks a lot, Professor!" Ash accepts the ball and puts it in his pajama pocket.
"Here's your Pokédex and Pokéballs." I see the iconic device and the tools to catch Pokémon as Ash took them from the Professor. "And your official Pokémon License." Wait, a license? Isn't it just the Pokédex for an ID if I recall?
"Thank you," Ash took the card and giggled like crazy. "Alright, one small step to Pokémon Master!" Ash shouted when he put a fist pump in the air with a huge grin which gave me a realization. I have to help him win in the Championship to become the Pokémon Master.
"You're welcome," Professor Oak said with a smile as he put his hands behind his back. "There's a lot of Pokémon around the world and the upgraded Pokédex can record if you see or catch one." I tilted my head in confusion at this statement. Upgraded?
"I am Dexter, a Pokédex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokémon Trainer, Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town. My function is to provide information and advice regarding Pokémon and their Training. If lost or stolen, I cannot be replaced." The Pokédex droned. Doesn't that show up in a later episode? Why is it doing it now?
The professor continues to explain as I try to listen in to get any answers. "When a wild Pokémon appears, it's fair game. Just throw a Pokéball at it and catch it! This doesn't always work, however..." Ugh… I stopped listening to him. As interesting as it sounds, I don't care about the mumbo jumbo tech as Ash listens to the lecture.
Taking advantage of my time to look around the lab, I see a lot of bookshelves, various amount of different machinery, and people doing their jobs. I gotta admit it's pretty jarring, everything is bigger than me.
I noticed one of them was glaring at me. He's holding a clipboard on his left hand but has a twitchy right hand with freshly dried bloody bandages. What the hell?
I made eye contact and glared back at him. "The fuck you looking at?" I said to him but the bastard just scoffs and returns to whatever he's doing with his clipboard. What's his problem?
I decided to let that slide before sighing. I couldn't help but think of my family; sure, I kind of somewhat hate my sis for being lazy, my mom being annoying with her trying to sell my old stuff for profit, and her overbearing attitude towards me like I'm still her baby, and my dad… Well, he's dad.
"Ok, Come on, Pikachu, get in the ball." Wait. What? I turned to face Ash who's bearing a smile to see he's about to throw Pikachu's Pokéball.
Dude, FUCK THAT.
As soon as Ash threw the ball towards me, my body instinctively kicked it back in his hand. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped as he caught it.
"Huh? Come on, Pikachu. Why can't you go inside the Pokéball?"
"Screw that, I'm not going in there," I said to him, as he threw the ball again and I swatted that thing back into his hand with my tail.
It repeated several times. With me hitting the ball on my tail and my head. He's getting more frustrated as I'm getting more annoyed with him throwing the damn ball at me.
I'm not going inside. Is this how Pikachu felt? Good lord.
With one good swing of my tail, the Pokéball was sent to his face and knocked him down on the floor. I grimaced at the sight.
Shit, sorry, Ash!
"Ow…" Ash removes the ball from his face as it leaves a mark on his face. Damn it, now I'm feeling bad doing that. He looks up to Professor Oak. "Uh… Professor?"
"Oh, right. This Pikachu hates getting into any sort of Pokéball." I mean yeah… wait doesn't Oak know that already?
"Whoa, it does? Really?" Ash said in wonderment as he rubs the mark on his forehead. I'm sure it will go away, Ash. I didn't mean to do that!
"Some Pokémon prefer to be outside Pokéballs. Some hate being confined." Wow, perfect timing, Dexter. Wait, the heck? Isn't that on Route One? I see Ash look at his Pokédex in surprise.
"Hmm… that's new…" Professor Oak muttered under his breath as he looks at the Pokédex. Maybe it's a Pokémon thing but how did I hear that?
Oak then clears his throat, getting Ash's and my attention. "There's no time like the present though," He said as he put a hand on Ash's shoulder with a smile. "Get going and start training that Pikachu!"
"You got it!" Ash exclaimed as he picked me up and held me up which got me a little bewildered.
"We're best friends already right?" Ash looks at me intensely and I nodded without thinking and he grinned and did a fist bump in the air. "Alright!"
Shit.
"Good Luck, Ash! Your Pikachu is sure to be a handful!" Oak waves goodbye as I see him return to work as Ash holding me marched confidentiality to the exit.
Ash is taking me on a Pokémon journey, I guess I have to go along with it. This is no longer a dream or nightmare, this is reality, and I can't tell which is worse.
As soon Ash opened the exit door, the sunlight immediately hit my face. I scuffed up and proceeded to sneeze.
"Whoa! Bless you, Pikachu!" Ugh, my small allergies to the sun still carried over. Sorry, Ash.
He walked downstairs as he carried me, I began to hear the sound of horns and jingles followed by cheers. The source of the noises is coming below us and I see a small crowd of people. What the hell?
"Hi, Ash!" A delighted voice shouted out in front of them as the crowd cheered.
"Oh, Mom!" Oh right, it happened in the show. His mom and a small group of people came to support Ash. This is going to be a pain in the ass if I can't remember every single detail in this wonderful journey. I vaguely remember the major ones, like Charizard and such but I'll never forget his victory in the season finale.
"Ash… " She started with a sad tone as Ash gently placed me on the ground. "I'm so proud of you! You're finally going to fulfill your dream!" I looked up as she covered her face with tears off her face with her hands.
Wasn't she holding Ash's iconic green bag? I know it was in the first episode. "You're starting your journey as a trainer! But I'm going to miss you so much!" She walks up and then proceeds to hug Ash tightly. "Oh, my little boy."
"Mom! I'm a big kid now!" Ash told her, trying to remove himself from her hug. "You're embarrassing me with all these people!" The crowd laughed as the boy was beaten red on his cheeks.
That got a little chuckle out of me, it was a little wholesome moment, I feel you, Ash.
… I miss my mom already.
My family, my friends, They must be worried about me.
Leaving that thought away. I started noticing the few pokémon in the crowd as Mom and son were talking to one another.
A Poliwag which makes sense they live near here, I think a Sentret from the looks of it though I have no idea why it's living in Pallet Town of all places, shouldn't it be in the region called… Johto, right?
And lastly, I see a… what the...?
Is that… a floating ice cream cone?
It's filled with nothing but ice in the bottom, and the top is filled like a vanilla swirl with a face.
"What in the hell are you?" I exclaimed as I started walking towards it, At least, as best as I can with these new stubby legs.
The floating ice cream went back startled. Looking both ways before looking at me. "Me? Um... I'm a Vanillite." A Vanillite..?
"I never heard or seen one of you before. Where do you come from?" I asked as I got to get a closer look at it.
"Um… Here… Why?" It tilted its body on the side with a confused expression. "I lived here my whole life with my master with his ice cream shop."
What? I would have remembered seeing this thing from the games. Maybe this is one of the unreleased designs? No, it couldn't be, It would have been in an uproar if it was leaked on the internet if that's the case.
But wasn't there a leak on the metal-colored games beta designs on the web recently and there was no mention of ice cream pokémon.
I remember old rumors from the crazy fans that an artist was talking about their designs that were made but scrapped. Maybe a design that was never leaked officially?
"Why are you looking at me weird?" What? I shook my head at my thoughts and I saw the Vani-whatever is called looking creeped out and floated back.
Crap, I stared too long. "Sorry… bad habit," I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly and went back to give it some space. "I just uh… never seen you before. This is new to me."
"Ok…" It said as it looked uncertain. This is so weird. Wait, If this was here all its life...
"Hey," I called out to the Sentret, the brown rodent's eyes gazing at me with a curious look on its face. "Have you been here all your life too?"
It tilted its head but nodded. "Yes. Since Meema had me and passed away." The fuck's a Meema? "Even though I never knew her… I miss her. She loved to walk a lot from what I heard from my masters."
I paused a bit before giving my condolences. "I'm sorry about your uh… Meema."
An awkward silence settled in as Ash was talking to his mom. I guess still talking about how he's a big kid now and wants independence. I get him.
"Wait... hey!" Hmm? We all looked at the Poliwag, What's he on about? "You're the one who caused the blackout!"
"Uh… What?" I stood speechless at the tadpole. I caused a blackout? Excuse me?
The Vanil- floating ice cream turned to me with an accusing matter. "Yeah, I remember seeing you running around here a few weeks back!"
"And you caused our families to suffer!" The Sentret raised his voice. Whoa, what the hell?! Are they seriously starting to get at me for Pikachu's actions? I didn't do shit!
They started to approach me. I held my paws up defensively as I moved back. Crap, what do I do?!
"Whoa, whoa, hey!" Think, damn it! "Look um… I was wild?" I said uncertainty. Fuck, they're getting more upset. I have to come up with something. Quick!
"I'm sorry ok?" I started apologizing, crap, crap, crap they're getting too close! Back off! "I was trying to survive out there and a lot of them tried to eat me alive so… this was the safest bet to live!" God, that was terrible. How would anyone believe that? Take it, just please take it.
To my utter surprise and relief, they backed off. From what I'm seeing, my poor attempt to calm them was a success. I don't know how but I'm taking what I can get.
"Fine…. We let you go." That damn accusing blue tadpole. You'll be on my shit list. "I mean I would be in the same situation if I'm forced to survive."
"U-um… Thank you?" I accepted the apology but Holy Christ, that was terrifying.
"Just don't cause another blackout." I held my paws up defensively. Okay, Okay! Jeez. Chill out already!
"I understand," I hear Ash's mom's voice, oh I guess they're finished now. "Hm? That's your Pokémon?"
"Yo." I made eye contact and waved at her with my paw. What was her name again? Eh, I just call her Miss Ketchum to make it easier for myself.
"Yeah, that's my pokémon!" Ash exclaimed.
"Aw… He's already making friends with the other Pokémon here!" And the human crowd cheered on that statement. Yeah, just the gist of things. I'm really popular around here.
"With Pikachu at my side," Oph! What the hell, Ash?! "I get all the Pokémon in the world!" He puts me on his upper arm. Dude, slow down! "Pikachu and I are real pals. right?" We're doing this thing right now? He again looks at me with confidence. I nodded quickly with a fake smile and Ash in return gave a huge grin.
I feel terrible.
"Don't Pokémon usually stay inside their Pokéballs?" Miss Ketchum hummed with a finger on her chin. "Why doesn't this one? It's a little weird…"
"I tried that mom, but he didn't want to," Ash answered with a dejected look. Come on, really, kid?
"Don't want to be below your waist, Ash," I said to him. I'm still feeling guilty about hitting him with it. But I ain't going into a damn pokéball. "Like hell, I'm going inside."
"Hm, oh well," She turned to the crowd as she clapped her hands together. "Ok, everyone! Thank you for coming to support my son! The greatest trainer there is!" And with that, the small crowd cheered and then dispersed, including the Pokémon. Thank God. I hate crowds.
Ms. Ketchum then turns to us. "Let's go home, Ash, at least I can get your stuff and we'll head up for dinner before you leave town." She said as she gave a gentle kiss to Ash's forehead.
What?
I would like to thank the authors who made A Backward's Grin and A Surprising Journey: Kanto Arc. These inspired me to make this story.
I also thank Stormtide and Cavik for showing me a few pointers. Couldn't have done it without them. Check out their works, Underdogs, and Bro, Do You Even Lift?. I highly recommend it.
This is my first fanfiction story. I hope I did it well and I have a long way to go. Any constructive criticism is appreciated. I'm afraid updates will be slow since I have a demanding job.
