Chapter One- Welcome To Uni!
(Everyone's point of view)
Every morning was always the same in the Hala household. Wake up, shower, brush teeth, brush and dry hair, eat breakfast, go to your jobs, come back, have dinner like a normal family, bed, repeat.
Viox sighed through her nose as she brushed her long pink locks. Staring at herself in the large bathroom mirror, her bright green eyes stared back. They seemed dull, as if they were just as bored of the same repeating pattern day after day. She had been working the past few years at Starfell Highschool as she was the music teacher, but sadly the music budget got cut, and now she only had 1 week left till she was jobless. She tore her gaze away from the mirror as a sharp quick knock echoed at the dark oak door. "Come in." she called as it swung open, revealing the knocker to be none other than her twin sister, Violet. "Hey, you almost done? I'm heading out soon to go to the Uni." Violet said softly towards the youngest twin, Viox nodded, "Just let me grab my bag and we can go." she said quietly, Viox was never really a loud person in general, even to her sibling.
Violet stood at about 5'4", which was already two inches taller than Viox, who stood at the height of 5'2". Violet's hair was like their father's, a deep red at the top, so dark that the color looked black, while at her tips where the sunlight hit it more, was a dark red. Violet's eyes were a bright blue just like their mother's. While Viox had their mother's pink hair and their father's bright green eyes. The two were twins just what you would call fraternal, meaning they were born from the same time, but arent identical. Both at the age of 23. They both took up different jobs but both went into teaching. Viox being music, Violet being fencing.
"Did you still want to look at some teaching jobs tonight after work? I'm sure I heard a rumor going around that Uni's current music teacher is looking for a secondary because there's been a large intake of choir and band students." she suggested as Viox set down her hair brush on the counter, "But it's not up on any job sites yet, so it might just be a rumor." she looked down at her sock covered feet, Violet hummed lightly, "That is true, I can always ask Venti if he is looking for one, maybe I can snag you an interview with him and the Headmaster." she said with a shrug of her shoulders. Viox nodded, "Maybe, you know I'd love nothing more than to continue teaching Music." she looked up at her sibling once more, before Violet gave a smile, "Yeah Vi. I know." she said
After Viox had been dropped off at the High School, she was quickly stopped by the slimy principal, Mr. Jessie Charles. He was a man that stood about 5'9" just shy under 6 feet, as he was always sharply dressed and a rather handsome man in general, his skin tone was a little pinkish due to he looked to be getting sun more as the Summer months were coming to a close. His blond hair and icy blue eyes could make even a good girl fall for him, there were rumors that he could press about 275, which was incredibly strong. Viox didn't care for this, handsome or not, the man was a creep! "Miss Hala, can we take a moment and speak privately in my office?" he asked, Viox mentally cringed at the other. "Yes, Mr. Charles." she agreed as he led them into the school and into the front office.
The inside of the highschool was boring as some splashes of colors landed on the grimy tiles from years of usage. They once were white but now a ashen grey from the rainy and snow seasons. Posters of different clubs littered the walls, some showing at least a little brightness to the dull whiteness. As they passed a small poster that boldly read
"Join the Music Club!"
"We wont be needing that anymore will we?" Mr. Charles said as he ripped the poster down, and tossed it into the bin for trash. "Shame." he stated with a small laugh as Viox looked down at the small poster, her heart crushed but she wouldn't dare speak. As they entered the dingy gray and blue front office, the walls also an off white coloring. As they passed the main desk winked at the older women that worked the front desk as they giggled, making Viox cringe inside more as she was finally led into office. She took a seat at one of the newer looking chairs, sitting in front of the man's desk as he closed the door. "Miss Hala, our lovely…" he took a moment to touch Viox's shoulder, who tensed up before brushing the hand off, as he took a seat right in front of her, sitting on his desk, "Music teacher...we only have a week left of you amazing talents and we're sad to see you go...if only there were a way to let you stay." he said in a sad tone. Viox looked at him, "You could give the Music budget back and then we wouldn't be in this predicament." she said coldly as faked being hurt by her words, placing a hand on his chest, " You see Miss Viox, we can't do that you see...we need the money to go towards our football team's new equipment." he smiled at her. Leaning in some and taking a loud sniff, close to Viox's hair, she hadn't put it up this morning. Viox shivered lightly, not liking the smile sent at her, nor his closeness. Viox tensed as he put a hand on her thigh, "You could always stay, and do something more useful, you are quite the songbird I hear." he grinned, leaning in as Viox frowned, " this is highly inappropriate. I request you stop immediately." she stated with a glare as smiled more, placing his hand higher onto the woman's hip, "I just want to get to know you a little better Miss Hala." he whispered in a voice that Viox guessed he thought it was flirting, as she stood up quickly and glared, "I'm taking my leave today." she spat as pouted, his newest toy leaving the beautiful atmosphere he had made for them, "You still have a week Miss Hala! You can't leave now!" he stated as Viox glared more, as she ripped open the door to the man's office, "I quit!" she snapped as she stormed out to her classroom to pack what little she had left, she pulled out her small slim touch screen phone as she dialed her sister's number, hearing the phone ring once in her ear, before a "Hello?" rang out, "Can you come get me before your next class?" Viox asked quickly as she waited for Violet's answer, "Yes, I'll be there in about 45...can you wait that long?" the other asked as Viox cleared her throat, "I cant...I quit about 10 minutes ago." she said as she walked outside the building, thankful that the Music room was always close to the front doors of the school.
"Alright, I'll have the Vice Headmaster cover my first hour to come get you. I'll see you soon sis." Violet said gently through the phone as they shared goodbyes. Viox stared at the small device as she blinked back a couple of tears. If she didn't have a slime ball of a principal, if her music budget wasn't cut. She bit her lip to try and cool the emotions that threatened to spill from her form as she waited for her sister to pick her up.
As time crawled by slowly, she played a small card game on her phone to pass some of the time. When she noticed a car pull up to the curb, the window rolled down as a man with long, shaggy, rat tailed, blue hair looked at her "Are you Viox? Violet's sister?" he asked as Viox stared at him, "Yes, you are?" she asked as the Man leaned over to the passenger door, and popped it open, "Im Vice Headmaster Kaeya Alberich. Your sister had an important class and asked me to come and get you." he explained as Viox's phone went off with a small message on the screen, it was from Violet, stating that she sent Kaeya to come and get her. She nodded as she carefully entered the car. Her nose was attacked by a ton of wood smells as she coughed, Kaeya blinked, "You alright?" he asked as she shut the door, pulling her seatbelt on, "Fine." she said quietly, although the smell was way too much for her. Kaeya carefully pulled from the curb and drove into the busy streets of Mondstadt. "So you and Violet? I never knew she had a sister." Kaeya said gently as he tried to start a conversation with the pink haired woman in his car. Viox cleared her throat, "Yes, well I would image Violet doesn't talk much about our homelife at the Uni." she said softly as Kaeya nodded, "So tell me about yourself, I'm curious." he stated bluntly as Viox tensed, she paused as she tightened her grip on the seatbelt. "Well I...was a music teacher for the Highschool until I quit this morning." she said as Kaeya nodded, "Any reason for the quit?" he asked as he turned a corner. "Yes, the music program was cut from the budget." she said simply, she wouldn't bring up the fact that her now ex boss tried hitting on her and touched her thigh and shoulder. She could feel the uncomfortable touch now as she reached down to rub her thigh to hopefully get rid of the feeling of he man's sweaty hand. "Boss was a toucher I see." Kaeya said as Viox stopped rubbing her thigh, "How did you?" She started to ask as Kaeya pulled into a parking lot. He looked at her with a small smile, "Call it a guess if you will." He said as he parked the car in its spot, unbuckling his seatbelt as he grabbed his keys from the starter. Viox was quite flabbergasted at the man's ability to guess what had happened so easily, it was like he read her mind in some way. She carefully unbuckled her own seatbelt, gathering her bag that she had left by her feet. Before opening her car door. Stepping out of the vehicle, she looked at the large University that was built before her. She had come here a couple times with Violet, only for Violet to gather a few things from her classroom for the summer break program that she did.
"So I think the best place to keep you is in the Fencing rooms with Violet for the day." Kaeya said as he stepped beside the woman, he took in account that she was literally a whole foot shorter than him. She was also very petite, not something he would normally chase after, but she was tiny, he couldn't help but think she was a little cute. Her long hair was loose as her green eyes looked everything over, she had pale, very pale skin, but not that Kaeya minded, all women are beautiful to him. Viox wasn't in his taste for woman in general, but he was curious about her, as he noted earlier, Violet never said she had a sister up till now of all days, and the two had known each other for a good couple of years since Violet became the fencing coach at the age of 20. He pulled his eye away from the other as he awaited her to finish up sight seeing.
Viox nodded in agreement, staying with Violet was the best option. She paused, and took a moment to take in the other's features before she got lost inside the building. Kaeya stood a foot taller, wearing a nice black button up with a blue tie, his slacks were a tan coloring as for his shoes were a black color as well. He seemed to dress very nicely for work, but Viox was curious about how he would fare in casual clothes. His hair was tossed in a side ponytail and was extremely long, the end of the tail sat next to his hip, as the rest of his locks were cut shaggy like, it was still long, but not long enough to put into the ponytail. His face was a nice shape, one would call it handsome even as his left eye was sharp, his eye color was a milky bluish white, with a very interesting pupil shape of a cross. She wondered if he had gotten into an accident that caused the pupil to be distorted in such a way. His right eye was covered up by not only his long messy hair, but also a black eye patch that had gold embroidery on it. Viox blinked, realizing she had been staring for too long, as the man made eye contact with her and let out a small chuckle, "See something you like Miss Viox?" He asked in an amused tone as Viox was taken back, "I was just making sure I could remember who you are in case I got lost, it is a large building." She said, trying to explain her reasoning of staring at the other.
"Must be my charm." He commented lightly as if to tease the pink haired woman. Viox cleared her throat, Let us continue?" She asked as Kaeya carefully led the other into the building.
"And this is your stop Miss Viox." Kaeya announced as they walked into a large gym area, mats were placed down all over the flooring and the walls to protect the students she assumed as they walked down towards a group of people in white suits, masks covering their faces as Kaeya cleared his throat, "Miss Violet, Miss Viox is here now." He said loudly as one of the masked people turned, taking off their mask to show a sweaty Violet, who smiled at Viox and then at Kaeya, "Thank you once again Vice Headmaster." She said as Kaeya waved her off, "It was no worries, Viox is a lovely person to talk with. So the pleasure was all mine." He replied as he turned, leaving Viox and Violet alone with the students. Violet turned to them and addressed them loudly, "Alright! Head to the showers and start washing up your gear! I want everything to shine! You know the drill!" She called out as the students responded with a roar back of, "Aye Captain!" As they dashed off towards the locker rooms.
Violet smiled and nodded her head, proud that her students respected her enough to follow her rules about the art of fencing. She looked back at her sibling, who's gaze had been on the floor. "Viox, what happened?" Violet asked gently as Viox's shoulders slumped forward, "I quit because my now ex-boss tried hitting on me and he was touching me, even though I told him to stop." She explained quickly, as Violet nodded, "And with Kaeya?" She asked as Viox shrugged, "Nothing really, I stayed pretty quiet, you know I don't do well with new people…" she said in a hushed tone as Violet chuckled, "I spaced it actually, just for a moment today." She admits as Viox pouts. "Well then, I guess you're with me all day, you can sit in my office and hang out there if you want." Violet suggested it to her sister, who greedily accepted.
Hours had passed till it was finally lunch time, Violet was quick to drag her twin from her office to the teacher's lounge, where they could snag something to eat. Viox honestly wasn't all that hungry, she looked at the food that was set out, it was a mix of different things like pizza, tacos, pastas, but nothing she wanted to eat. She carefully took her seat next to Violet, who had gotten a couple slices of cheese pizza. "No salads today?" Her sibling asked, as Viox shook her head, "No, but I'm not that hungry anyways." She said as Violet looked at her, "Alright but you-" her sentence was cut off by another, "You only eat salads?" Kaeya asked as he took a seat cross from Viox and Violet, looking at the twins. Violet nodded in response for her sister, "Viox is what you call a pollotarian." She replied after she swallowed her bite of food, as Kaeya gave her a blank face, but Viox saw his one visible eye read confusion. Violet sighed,"It means that she only eats fowls, chicken, turkey, duck. Stuff like that, and tons of vegetables and fruits. She likes to put those things in salads." She explained to the eyepatched man. Who leaned back in his seat, "Thats...interesting...why?" He turned to Viox, locking eyes with her as she quickly ducked her head down, "Because...my stomach is sensitive to a lot of different foods and drinks." She said softly as Kaeya nodded, "That makes sense." He replied as Violet nodded, "Yep, she's never had a pizza before." She states as Viox gently nudges Violet to stop, her sister smiles and goes back to eating her lunch. Kaeya merely watches how the two interact, it seems that twins have a secret communication between them as Viox played with her phone, Kaeya watched her closely. She looked intelligent, in fact the only reason he'll admit that is that it took her 5 minutes, a couple of moves, to beat a math game. He couldn't even keep up with Aether when the blond man talked about calculations. He watched her as she continued to play into the harder levels of mathematics on her phone as the bell gave a sharp ring, signaling the end of lunch period. He carefully packed away his half empty lunch container as Viox looked at her sister, following the other closely as the two waved goodbye and left the man. Kaeya leaned back a little as the rest of the staff headed out, leaving him to be in the lounge by himself. He smiled, "Miss Viox Hala...interesting." he said quietly.
