-Unknown Area-
"ROOOAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!"
The noise coming from behind me made me come to, and I jumped away from it while swearing. I did a complete 180, and when I was facing the source of the noise, I bared my fangs, only to find it was a pair of doors. This confused me, but I realized I wasn't in immediate danger, so I eased up.
"Hello?"
No answer.
"Anyone there?"
The doors rattled.
With that, I concluded there was no one in the vicinity that could hear me. Knowing that, I decided to try to figure out where I was. As I surveyed the room, it looked like no other room I had ever seen before. In fact, I didn't even know what most rooms looked like. While this realization confused me, I just ignored it. I first checked where I was standing, and saw I was standing on a circle platform made of… I didn't know. I then looked up and around. The room was very large and very empty. I could still hear my voice rebounding off the walls. The ceiling was made up of 8 tall, triangle shaped tiles, with the junction where they all touched directly above me. There were also two large windows that went from the floor to almost touching a ceiling tile on either side of me. I walked toward the left, and immediately face planted in the floor when I forgot that I was on a raised area. I cursed. As I came to the one that had been to the left of me, I looked outside. On the other side was a sky completely full of stars.
"Pretty…" I muttered to myself.
"Who do you choose?"
I flinched and spun around. No one was there.
"Who's there?" I yelled.
There were a few seconds of quiet.
"Who do you choose?" the voice repeated.
The voice seemed to be coming from nowhere and everywhere at the same time.
"Who do you choose?" It said again.
"What are you?" I yelled.
"Who do you choose?" It repeated.
I sighed.
"Nevermind…" I said to myself.
It was clearly not something intelligent, and it kind of sounded like a robot.
I proceeded to tune it out.
I looked to my right, and there were the doors that the noise had come from. They were various shades of purple, all very disturbing, and were covered in a chaotic pattern. The doors themselves also seemed to radiate a sort of power, with an undertone of malice if that makes sense. The doors creeped me out. The wall on the left side of the doors was covered with patterns of flames, which were made of ruby and topaz, and the wall itself was made up of obsidian. On the wall to the right, it was covered in patterns of ice, which were made up of sapphire and diamond, and the wall itself was also made of obsidian.
"Wonder why those colors…" I muttered to myself.
I then turned to my left, and noticed that there was a pair of doors there as well. The doors themselves seemed to be made out of gears, covered in a layer of glass, and the walls next to them were made of marble and had gears inlaid in them. I walked closer to the clockwork doors to get a closer look, and as soon as I took one step toward them, there was a piercing screech from the purple doors. I jumped toward the doors at that, and the purple doors started to shake, and the scream coming from it was unearthly and freaked me out completely, and I heard the voice again.
"Is that your choice?" It asked.
"Yes." I said without hesitation.
No way was I going to the other doors, where it sounded like there was a screaming demon shaking the doors violently like it was having a tantrum.
The doors shook even harder, and it screamed even louder.
"If you want to live, it's probably in your best interest to get to your choice as fast as possible."
I took the advice from the voice, disregarding the fact that I didn't know where it was coming from, because when there are a pair of creepy doors shaking and a noise like a screaming demon having a tantrum coming from one side, that's the last thing you think of.
The clockwork doors groaned.
I stopped abruptly at that.
The doors then ground open, and without a second thought, I sprinted through, and as I passed through, I heard what sounded like a house collapsing, and an ear-shattering roar. I took a quick glance back and saw what looked like a swirling mass of essence, and it was glowing the freakiest shade of purple known, and it rushed at me.
"OH HELL NO!"
As soon as I saw it I bolted on all four paws down the hallway, paying little attention to the gears and glass which made up the walls. The essence was speeding up, and as I was starting to get tired, I saw a light not too far away, and I used the last of my strength to get to it as fast as possible. The essence was about to touch me when I reached the light, and I jumped, falling straight into it. I then realized I was falling through a very bright area, but for some reason, I wasn't scared.
"Good choice, Rockruff."
I then smelled the ocean, which I somehow had no memory of, and then passed out.
This is the first story I'm actually sharing, so I would like some feedback for it.
If you think I need to change something about how I worded a certain part, put 1, tell me which part (paragraph, sentence, anything easily identifiable), and tell me what you think would have been a better way to put it.
If you think I need more dialogue, put 2. This is just the first chapter / prologue, so there is likely to be more dialogue once there are more characters in the next few chapters.
If you think this was too short, put 3. Again, this is the first chapter / prologue and other chapters are more likely to be longer, but it is likely that the length will vary.
If you like how this is going, put 4.
I'm also probably going to maybe put a question at the end of a chapter sometimes if I need some help making a decision, you can tell me in the comments.
If there is anything else that you want to give me feedback on, tell me in the comments.
Also, if you are going to give feedback, please don't word it like a crappy person.
Also please have your reviews relevant to this story.
