Scott made his way up the stairs from the hangar, maintenance tasks complete for another week. It had been a long slog today, his 'bird had taken quite a battering in that storm yesterday. He could have taken the elevator, but he felt that the stretch would do his legs good.

He'd almost reached the lounge level when he began to hear noises. A rhythmic chanting, the tone almost ceremonial in nature, the voices low and serious. It gave Scott pause, and he frowned. The only people not in the hangars should be John, Alan and Kayo, but that chanting sounded like a lot more people. Must be echoing, he thought.

It reminded Scott of the stupid ritual he had gone through at university to be accepted into his fraternity, even as that thought brought a smile to his face of fond memories he hadn't thought of in quite a while.

The chanting stopped and Scott decided he needed fortification before attempting to find out what his three siblings were up to. With both John and Kayo potentially involved Scott needed to be on top of his game.

One mug of coffee and a grilled cheese later and he was set to brave whatever was going on upstairs.

The chanting had started up again as he reached the doorway.

'With mystic blades and fiery awe

We pledge our honour best.

Many shall fall for only a noble few

Will past the test.

So come, all worthy heroes,

And brave forth the Cavern Quest.'

Scott laughed at himself. How had he mistaken the hero's chant in Alan's favourite game as ceremonial chant? He crossed the room and took his place at the desk, surreptitiously watching his siblings battle rock monsters as he filled in reports.
