The feeling of something rubbing up against Eliot's face brought him out of his dreams. Upon opening his eyes, he was met with the sight of a large ant staring right back at him.
"AH!" Eliot screamed while shutting his eyes tight. Once he fully realized where he was, his eyes would open. He let out a sigh, placing a hand on the head of the large, dog-sized bullet ant sitting in his bed.
"Alright, thanks for getting me up G.I. Ant, but remember what I said about being in my bed."
The GI. Ant let out a brief clicking noise before crawling off of Eliot's bed. Once the ant left his room, Eliot stood up and stretched. Today was another day in the life of Eliot Lang, CEO, and owner of Pym Technologies. After a few seconds of stretching, Eliot walked into his enormous closet to begin getting himself ready for the day. He had too many suits to choose from but went with a light grey. To pull everything together, he chose one of his favorite ocean blue shirts, along with a grey and blue tie.
Once he was fully dressed, Eliot walked through his house, only stopping to knock on the door of his niece's room.
"Rise and shine kiddo, school time," Eliot said with a bit of glee in his voice. He looked up as if he was waiting for something. That something was the sound of his niece groaning from behind the door.
"Can't you just buy my school and make it so that I don't have to go?" She would ask from the other side. Eliot chuckled, shaking his head.
"You know I would love to, but that'd be a gross misuse of my wealth. Now hurry it up, Ren. If you're late, I'm shrinking your phone. For good."
Eliot made his way into the kitchen, where a group of ants was already in the process of preparing him a cup of coffee in his Keurig coffee maker. Once it was done, two ants carried a couple of sugar cubes to place into the dark liquid. Eliot grabbed the cup, raised it in appreciation, and took a sip.
For anyone unfamiliar with who Eliot was, the sight of ants casually walking along countertops and walls would be a peculiar, unwelcoming sight. The ants were family to him and always have been since he was a child. It came with being Ant-Man, as his father once explained.
When Eliot's niece Rhiannon, or Ren as she preferred to be called, walked into the kitchen, he found himself unable to stop the smile growing on his face. She wore a white sweater and a pair of dark blue jeans. It was one of her go-to outfits when she didn't have time to plan out her clothes for the day.
"Wow you are just the spitting image of Cassie, especially when you look like you don't wanna go somewhere," Eliot said, in reference to the pout that was plastered on Ren's face. He ruffled her blonde hair a bit, which only caused her pout to become closer to a scowl.
"And now I look like I just got out of bed," Ren responded while patting her hair down. Eliot took another sip of his coffee and would stop to raise an eyebrow at her response.
"Did you not just get out of bed-"
"S-S-Shut it," Ren stuttered out. Her speech impediment often came out whenever flustered, or emotional in general. Whether she liked it or not, she had long learned to live with it over the past 15 years.
Eliot finished off the last of his coffee, giving him the right amount of energy he would need to get through his day.
"Are you eating breakfast at school or do you want me to cook you something?" Eliot asked while opening up the refrigerator to look inside. Ren smoothed out her sweater and shook her head in the decline of his offer.
"I'll make do with breakfast at school. It's ten times better than lunch anyway."
"Well good turns out the fridge is looking like a wasteland," Eliot said.
It was true, the refrigerator was about as empty as a Chick-fil-A on Sundays. He thought about just how it went unnoticed this long, but it was a matter that would be fixed on his way home.
"Jocasta, remind me to head to the store after I leave work," Eliot directed. The robotic female voice of Jocasta came to life from the refrigerator itself.
"Sure thing, Eliot," She responded.
Eliot closed the refrigerator and would walk over to the counter to grab his car keys.
"Alright, kiddo let's get a move on. You're gonna ace that physics test, right?" Eliot said while heading out towards the garage. Ren lazily dragged her bookbag off of the kitchen table and would follow behind him.
"Yeah...sure. I mean I'd 100% ace it if you'd let me borrow one of the ants-"
"You're not using the ants to cheat. The only time you can cheat is when I say it's okay to cheat. If it's something like a history class then maybe, but when it's one of the sciences, you're on your own."
Eliot pressed the garage door opener and would step inside his white Porsche. Ren took her place in the passenger's seat and would prop her feet up on the dashboard.
"Feet off the dash and seatbelt on, you littleā¦" Eliot trailed off while starting the car up. Ren stuck her tongue out at her uncle in response but would comply nonetheless. Within moments, the car would speed off out of the gated mansion and onto the streets of East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Upon reaching Ren's high school, Eliot came to a stop at the drop-off point. He unlocked the door and turned his head to look over at his niece with a semblance of a smile.
"Alright, have a nice day. Don't get into any fights. If you do...shrink and make the person look like they're hitting themselves."
Ren blinked a few times before unbuckling her seatbelt and exiting the car.
"Your advice is so bad, I love it," She said with a slight grin on her face. Ren would close the door and look ahead to the high school that would torment her for eight hours straight. Once she had walked off to her class, Eliot pressed a button near the gear shift that shrunk the car, and himself inside of it before speeding off at miniature size.
