Never done this before so here goes, Cad Bane is a notorious bounty hunter known throughout the galaxy for his lone-wolf style methods. Some say he is untouchable, cannot be killed or something has to be watching over him. What if he isn't alone and there is someone watching his back? Slow burn romance with OC.

Chapter One

"Bane we're here" shouted Todo from the cockpit, the small robot was meet with silence "did you hear me I said …" "Yeah, yeah I heard cha" Bane replied as their ship started its descent to land in a hanger on a large desert planet. "I don't know why you insist on going out of our way for repairs here, it isn't much to look at". Todo spoke as the ship finally came to thud in the hanger.

Bane ran his hand down his blue face still trying to wake up, he ignored Todo's comment. His droid was right though this planet was not much to look at, it was just a desert with two suns. Tatooine is a place you can go to disappear. Two harsh suns on a desert planet is not a place where he would choose to go for retirement. Not like that was happening any time soon. Bane got up and headed down below the ship.

"Stay with the ship". Bane said as he saw his small droid starting to follow him.

"But I am always with the ship," remarked Todo.

"Do as I say" Bane snapped back. Todo turned on his feet' thrusters and hovered back inside the cockpit while mumbling to himself.

Before leaving the ship, Bane went to a locker on his way to the cargo bay. He grabbed his thin duster-style coat, which helped him conceal his weapons. Those weapons being a pair of LL-30 blaster pistols that he had on each hip. The blaster pistols were just the obvious weapons, Bane also had his stolen Mandalorian vambraces that were on his wrists which to the untrained eye didn't look like much. But attached to those was a flamethrower, stunners, and a few other handy gadgets. After throwing on the coat Bane went ahead and attached his breathing tubes which he fastened to his head and neck as well as fastening small thrusters to the side of his boots. Bane was a skilled and well-known bounty hunter throughout the galaxy, relying on various weapons as well as his wits to defeat enemies. That meant he was a wanted man and was always prepared for whatever may happen everywhere he goes.

Once all his gear was on Bane sighed rubbing his face once more in an attempt to wake up, without coffee or death sticks it made this task exceedingly difficult, he needed supplies.

Grabbing his hat off the hook in the locker he headed down to the cargo area then lowered the ramp of his ship. As it lowered, he placed the hat on his head and walked down the ramp. Bane inspected the outside of his ship using the tip of his hat to shade his red eyes from the harsh suns to get a better view. Bane had something of a quirk when it came to wide-brim hats, which he heavily preferred wearing. This desire was such he was willing to kill another bounty hunter simply because he had a hat he liked.

He let his eyes scan over the ship, it looks as though the major functions are working but the hyperdrive is completely shot (no pun intended). After the last encounter with the Jedi he was lucky to even get one last hyperjump in before it decided to malfunction. His ship needed major repairs if he ever wanted to leave this god-forsaken planet and reach one of his hideouts where he can revise his original plan.

"Maybe I should invest in getting a better pilot's chip for Todo since he cannot evade blaster fire to save our lives" Bane mumbled to himself.

"Cad, back again so soon!" There was only one person he knew that called him by his first name that was Nova. Nova was just another average human female, she had dark hair and skin tanned from the harsh suns which complimented her light copper eyes. Her beige pants and baggy shirt were not much to look at either, they were torn, filthy, and stained. Most likely the only pair of clothing she owned; she also wore thin flats for shoes to protect her feet from the hot sand which surrounded them.

"I told you not to call me that," he said sternly without even looking in her direction, still concentrated on inspecting the ship's damage. Bane did not care for his first name plus it did not sound professional, and he was a professional.

"Oh right, sorry Bane, or was it Sir Bane? Mister Bane?" she smiled. He just rolled his red eyes; he was not in the mood to argue he had a long week and just wanted a drink. Normally if someone made backhanded comments such as those, he would kill them where they stood. Especially a human, he did not care for their arrogant race. But Nova was harmless plus she gets enough abuse as a slave, so the fact she even has spirit even with her circumstances is a refreshing sight compared to those around her.

Nova followed his gaze up at the ship while covering her eyes with her hand to get a better view without the sun shining in it, her eyes widened "Cad what did you do to my ship!" This is when he finally looked at her.

"It's my ship and I was doing my job like you should be doing," he said through his teeth. As she moved around him, he noticed Nova also had some fresh noticeable scaring more so than the last time he brought his ship in for repairs. Some of the newer-looking ones were on her wrists, hands, and the most obvious one being a branded letter 'R' on her right cheek that healed quite poorly. That's new he thought to himself.

"Just..." he paused as he looked back at the damaged ship behind him "…fix it, you know the way around the ship it's all yours" he tossed her the datapad with the key codes and left without another word.

I need a drink, Bane thought to himself.

Pilots from all over the galaxy come to this landing hanger for fuel or repairs due to the republic not being able to track who comes and goes. Most repairs the pilots' droids do themselves but her master who owns this particular hanger has the connections with the Hutts. This makes it a popular spot for Bounty Hunters to try and create connections or looking for information while waiting for their repairs to be complete. Even as a skilled machinic, Nova still seems to be seen as a piece of meat and many pilots try and buy an hour or two with her or take things more forcefully instead of just letting her do her job. "Slaves are not people but property". Her Master has made sure she would not forget it this time she thought to herself as she subconsciously reached up and touched her cheek.

But not Bane he was always … nice. Nice might not be the right word may be fair. A bit short at times but treated her like a person, not property even called her by her name which was rare for her. Bane has never made inappropriate comments or asked her to do anything other than her job and sometimes if he was in a good mood would even help her with repairs. As they worked together Bane would go over some of the improvements to his ship that he made and show her how to do it herself in case of future repairs. Even to teach her how to read, just a few words, on some labels so she could better understand that machinery functions and its purpose not just how to fix it. Granted it wasn't much of a warm teaching session more like "learn this or you'll fuck up my shit" but she still enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Bane seems to come to this hanger more and more often for ship repairs over the last two years. Doing a lot of dangerous work around the outer rim from what she can tell from all the blaster marks in his ship. The war must be pushing more this way by the day. Bane really needs to hire a pilot, or he will not have much of a ship left if he keeps this up.

"Well, someone had a long week" she stated to herself as she turned back to see Cad Bane walking shoulders slightly hunched heading toward the bar off to the right of the hanger. "Well better get to it" she sighed, Nova started adding information to her data pad and annotating some of the major damage on the outside of the ship. Starting with the major stuff to even annotating some cosmetic things (even though Cad never seems to care for it) on the list of things she needed to do.

After the outside was logged, she moved to the inside of the ship walking up the ramp looking at her Data pad, she did not see Todo and ran right into him. "Excuse you," exclaimed Todo as he stood there as Nova fell backward to avoid taking the droid out and fell on her butt instead.

"Todo! I'm sorry buddy I didn't see you there" Nova said as she slowly stood up rubbing her now sore butt.

"Ms. Nova, good to see you, I thought you were Mr. Bane for a minute."

"Cad is at the bar still, I am just making the normal repairs, what happened to my ship Todo"? she said with her eyebrows up showing a fake 'I'm disappointed in you' look.

"Well, Ms. Nova if you must know the Jedi can be quite pushy when it comes to their things". I hear stories good and bad of the Jedi, but she would like to think them good, every fairy tale needs a hero.

"Can you tell me about your adventures? I really would love to hear them as I work".

"Really?" Chirped Todo. Todo loved company, I have a feeling from what I know of Cad Bane (which is not saying much) is that he is a man of few words. But for Nova she loved when they came to visit, listening to the stories pilots would share of their adventures it was her only escape away from her reality.

"Okay! Well last week I helped Mr. Bane break into the Jedi temple, and we stole and little blue box, it is pretty useless, and I don't see why they were so upset about it but then …" Todo continued to tell the story of how he helps Cad Bane and saved his life a time or two though I'm fairly sure Bane would tell this story a bit differently. As she listens, she started her repairs around the ship as Todo hands her the tools she requests as he continue his stories. She started with the most damage to the least. She was going to be here a while.

Finally, got some boozes, more death sticks, and some alone time from that damn chatty droid. Bane was in the corner of the bar with his head back on the bench he rested his eyes for a moment enjoying his solitude.

"Ahh there you are Bane, was wondering where you snuck off to". Bane sighed, so close.

"What do you want M'Beg?" Bane was not in the mood. M'Beg was a Klatooinian, these ugly aliens looked like scaly humanoids with lumps on top of their foreheads, an underbite similar to a bulldog, only a face a mother could love, and unfortunately for him, he works of the Hutts.

"I see your ship is in my hanger again. You can't be coming and going as you please there are fees you need to pay and for how long your ship takes for repairs, I should be charging you double the rate".

Bane just stared at this man for a moment sitting upright again in his booth before he spoke. "you will get your cut, once my repairs are complete".

"My cut? I get all the credits! You better not be giving a damn thing to anyone but me that is the deal" M'Beg looked at Bane for a moment and then raised his scaly eyebrow "Besides, droids can do the work on your ship much faster than my slave can" he pauses, a nasty smile appeared on his lips "if you want the girls 'services' all you have to do is ask. HA, heck I'll even give you a discount on her if it gets you out of here faster." M'Beg said with a slight chuckle.

Bane did not say anything at first, he just looked bored of the conversation which only irritated M'Beg more, he took a drag from his death stick.

"Not my style," Bane said as he flicked the stick's ashes in M'Beg's direction. "Besides" Bane continued "Everyone in the galaxy knows that your droids don't fully make repairs while using the cheap ass material you have in the back and shit breaks again only faster, so you get more of a profit". Bane took another drag from his death stick the smoke he inhaled now leaving his mouth as he spoke "That and things tend to go missing out of ships while docked in your hanger, not good business if you ask me".

M'Beg made a move to approach Bane and slammed his hands on the table in front of him. "You fucking piece of bantha shit, you listen here" Shouted M'Beg.

While still holding his death stick in one hand he had already placed his other hand on his hip under the table during this conversation waiting for this scum to make the first move.

M'Beg stood his ground but lost his words for a moment, only when he got closer did he see where Bane's hand was resting. M'Beg slowly removed his hands from the table and spoke through his teeth "You're a wanted man Bane, I would watch your back" M'Beg said trying to get in the last word of this conversation and stormed off.

"Fuck" was all Bane mumbled to himself after that piece of work left the bar. He dropped his death stick in his drink and got up to leave his seat. Looks like he is no longer welcome here, normally he would not care but with the Jedi on his trail, he cannot risk causing a scene because Skywalker would try to use an event such as that that to track him down. He does not need that headache, not just yet at least. Not until he figured out how to unlock this damn blue box everyone is so obsessed with.
