The music was vibrating the dancefloor and through her body. The bass becomes her heartbeat, her body moving sensually with the rhythm. No worries, no debt collectors, no bat-shit crazy mother wanting money, calling everyday to yell at her with nonsense and curses. Just her and the hypnotic beat of whatever song blaring through the speakers of the nightclub. Normally she hated crowded places and loud, ear-drum snapping music but this was so much better than a quiet night at home alone with poison thoughts. She didn't have to worry about anything. She didn't want to. She knew the dangers of these places, the dark side of the eccentric nightlife of Arizona. She didn't care. Not anymore. Her life was empty now. After her grandmother died of heart failure she couldn't take it anymore. She went down hill. Rock Bottom. Not even the therapists that she went through like soda pop could help her.
The only escape she managed was her favorite videogames Skyrim and Dragon Age, her dreams of magic and dragons, and fanfiction. She would often dream of a world with more to it than day to day grind, with battle and adventure instead of 9 to 5 jobs and bills to pay. Of course her therapists say it's unhealthy to be so deep into her fantasy universe and games but she didn't care anymore she needed it. It was all she could do to keep her sanity was to imagine what it would be like to be somewhere else. To be special. To be happy again.
To be loved.
Stella found herself at a nightclub at 3:00 in the morning letting the heated bodies and music whisk her away into bliss, for the first time in a long time letting her guard down and enjoying herself. God it has been so long since she let go like this. Warm hands found their way to her hips as she gyrated with the beat. Starboy by The Weeknd/Daft Punk started up and she moaned as the bass flowed through her body, vibrating her core as she moved. The hot body behind her grinding against her, she returned the action and moved to the flow they created. Turning she found dark eyes and dark skin with full lips grinning down at her as they moved. Grinning coyly back at her mystery dance partner she wrapped her arms around his neck and broad shoulders and swung her hips, his hands exploring her waist and hips, holding her firm but gently as if asking her to allow him the lead. She leaned her body flush against him as they danced. Their movements border on sexual. As the song came to an end, her dark dance partner moved away and into the crowd. Giggling to herself she made her way to the bar. ***
? POV He was watching as she danced.
Her body was hypnotic, her generous curves tempt all who watched her.
A shame he was a committed man.
Maker, he would give anything to be alive and young again like that again.
But he digresses. His goal was to send her where she would be happy and needed. The mysterious man followed her as she made her way to the empty bar and sat casually next to her. "Strawberry Margarita please, no salt." she said to the bartender who nodded "Right up," he said with a wink.
Finally alone he made himself known. "Excuse me miss." he said and gently tapped her hand applying a bit of his magic to her in order to alter her mind a bit. Just a little something to make his task a bit easier no harm will come to her but she will be easier to persuade. The young woman turned slightly glazed brown eyes to him and he giggled internally. He loved magic. "Tell me miss, why do you find yourself in a place such as this?" he asked, already knowing her answer. His Patron told him everything he needed to know about her before they sent him here to be sure he got the job done right. It would not do well to fail his Patron. The young woman hesitated, but the magic was pushing her to speak honestly and said " To be honest I wanted some kind of excitement, a thrill. After everything I just needed something new" she looked out over the bar to the dancing cloud of people with a look of longing.
''I had heard this place was different, dangerous..I usually avoid such things though."Stella says laughing lightly and her voice trailed off.
The man grinned. "Perhaps you wish for it all to end. To start anew? You have been having those dreams after all." he laughed when she gaped at him and she sighed "My life has been nothing but pain lately. My dreams are only a way to escape. You are right, I want to escape." she says sadly and looks up at him with sad brown eyes looking him over for a moment. Orange eyes, pale skin and old cloak over lith shoulders.
"I have been going to this imaginary place, filled with magic and dragons." she scoffed, "but it's only because i've been playing too many video games in my quest to escape reality." she took a sip of her drink, it having arrived minutes ago and almost forgotten. "You know, miss, I can give you an escape" The man says evenly. "I can take you to where you wish to be the most."
"You…." She trailed off. " I can take you from here, give you a purpose, a life….an escape." She nodded, eyes glazing over in a daze. He smiled wide, his magic was still in effect. Standing and offering his hand he said "Come little miss. We shall go away." Stella, with little hesitation grasped the man's hand and they made their way to the back of the club to one of the exits. He led her to a dark alley outside the club. The beat of the music could be heard even through the thick brick and metal walls. He couldn't let these mortals see him perform his spell less things get….complicated.
"What's your name?" He heard her ask. He smiled, eyes glowing brightly in the darkness as they came to a stop in the alley between the club and another building. It was dark and quite perfect for what he planned. "Xenon." was his reply, he led her deeper into the darkness of the alley, the magic in full effect she did not resist as he led her. Telling her gently to stand in the middle of the alley he stood and raised his hands. They started to glow as he built on his spell and she startled at the display and stumbled back frightened but still dazed the magic making it hard to think. Bright green light filled the dark alley, whispers and songs danced around the two as the spell's power grew and Stella started to rise into the air, the green magic wrapping around her body like a vice and Xenon laughed in glee.
"Now little miss, have fun." He says softly but still heard over the songs and whispers "Your wish shall come true tonight!" Xenon pushes more of his magic into the spell and Stella screamed as the green light engulfed her tighter and with a loud CRACK! She was gone. The alley was empty save for Xenon. The young woman was nowhere to be seen. The air thick with the magic from a l spell long forgotten "Hehehe" Xenon giggled in glee, his task complete "That was fun, now I need to get back before poor Thadeous has a fit." With a bright flash the man, mage, was gone.
