It was about thirty years ago when a chain of events concocted by a pursuit of two stone mirrors by a ruthless Chinese mob had shaken the living foundation of an eighteen year old martial arts student by the name of Ryo Hazuki. One of these mirrors was based on a dragon, the other on the phoenix. Legend had it that when these two mirrors would meet, the gates of heaven and earth would open, and Chi You would resurrect itself on earth.
What was never disclosed in the original Shenmue saga however was that this tale was only half true. There were two other mirrors, one based on the tiger, and another based on the tortoise. These two mirrors were kept heavily secreted and were never displayed inside the Stone Pit in Guilin, but word about them got around after the new incarnation of the Chi You Men, brought about by Chen Tong, the son of Chen Guizhang who turned against his father, would acquire both the Dragon Mirror and Phoenix Mirror and determine the legend to be false, discovering that two more mirrors were needed. What Tong didn t know however was that the Tortoise Mirror was being kept by his father, Guizhang. However, the whereabouts of the Tiger Mirror were kept hidden until this very day
Royal Woods Mall Royal Woods, Michigan, 5PM
Leni, Luna, Lincoln, and Lucy enter a newly opened store within the mall called The Far East Antique Shop, which specializes in selling Chinese antiques.
Luna: Dude, this stuff is all cool, but man it is expensive
Lincoln: Better not tell Lola about this place, she'll beg mom and dad to break the bank here
Leni: I should totes get a job here, everything here is so gosh darn pretty
Luna looks over to Lucy, sees her starring at what is the Tiger Mirror, with the mirror section sealed by a price sticker.
Lucy: I need it Luna: Lucy, you know that's expensive
Lucy: I need it I feel a spirit permeating from it It speaks to my soul I need it
Luna: You know that I can't afford it, and neither can Leni. You have enough allowance money?
One hour later, 6PM
All four of them exit the mall, awaiting a pickup from Rita. Luna looks at Lucy
Luna: You put that Chinese artifact back, didn't you?
Lucy: Nope.
Lucy grabs the Tiger Mirror out from her pocket, Luna looks angrily at her, Leni and Lincoln look in shock.
Luna: You STOLE it?!
Lucy: Don t tell!
Luna: Give that to me right now, I'm putting it back!
Lucy: No!
Lucy rips off the pricetag sticker, immediately a bright beam of red light permeates from the mirror, all four of them look in awe at the beam of light. Luna then looks back, see's Rita driving into the parking lot.
Luna: Put that in your pocket and we are NOT through with this conversation!
Meanwhile Chen Residence, Yokosuka, Japan, 7AM
Chen Guizhang, now in his 60s yet in prime physical condition for a man of his age, is eating a breakfast of miso soup and sashimi at his dining table, with the Tortoise Mirror laying on top of his table. Suddenly, he sees a beam of red light permeating from the Tortoise Mirror. He immediately grabs a candle and blows it on the mirror, the smoke revealing the coordinates of the other mirror in Chinese kanji. He immediately right them down onto a piece of paper, grabs his laptop, and enters the coordinates into Google Maps, revealing the location of the Tiger Mirror to be in Royal Woods, Michigan. He writes it down, puts the mirror in his pocket, then goes on to quickly finish his breakfast.
Later that morning, at the Hazuki Residence, 10AM
Ryo Hazuki, now middle aged yet also still in prime physical condition, is in the dojo, teaching his 15-year old twin children Akari (female) and Kensuke (male) karate. Guizhang chimes into the dojo, Ryo pauses the session and walks over to Guizhang.
Ryo: Guizhang? What brings you here?
Guizhang: You heard that there are two other mirrors besides the Dragon and Phoenix out there?
Ryo: What about em?
Guizhang grabs out the Tortoise Mirror
Ryo: Is Is that the fabled Tortoise Mirror?! You actually own it?
Guizhang: I kept it secret for a good cause, but yeah, my father first discovered this about fifty years ago, yet it s been kept secret for a good cause
Ryo: Do you also happen to own the fabled Tiger Mirror as well?
Guizhang: I do not, but I have discovered where it is located...
Guizhang grabs out the piece of paper with the location and coordinates written down.
Guizhang: Apparently, it s located in the States, in Michigan, in a town called Royal Woods Ryo: Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go fetch it!
Guizhang: You go alone. I'll stay here and protect your folks. Take this with you
Guizhang hands Ryo the Tortoise Mirror
Guizhang: This will help you locate the Tiger Mirror. Make sure not to lose it.
Ryo: Got it.
Ryo exits the dojo. On top of the dojo roof however are two older teens in black suits, both members of the Chi You Men, who have been eavesdropping on the conversation between Ryo and Guizhang the whole time.
Hours later, on a plane headed to Detroit
Two young Chi You Men members, one with a scar, are sitting right behind Ryo on the plane. The unscarred one grabs a long thin metal staff with a magnet at the end, pushes it through the seat cushion, gently near Ryo s pockets, the Tortoise Mirror attaches, and they pull it back through the cushions. Ryo feels a slight tug, looks into his pockets to find the Tortoise Mirror missing, and looks back, and see s in shock that the two Chi You Men members are holding the Tortoise Mirror. They both smile at him and put their fingers on their noses.
Scarred one: Shhh! No fighting on the plane, little man! Hehehehe!
Hours later, at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport
Ryo walks out of the terminal, spots the two Chi You Men members, starts running after them, eventually getting into the same taxicab as them.
Taxi Driver: And where are you headed?
Ryo: I m headed to the same place they re going Taxi Driver: And where are you two, or you three I suppose, all headed?
Holding the Tortoise Mirror in his hand, the scarred Chi You Men member is able to locate directions towards the Tiger Mirror. The unscarred one grabs out a map of Michigan.
Scarred one: North Unscarred one: We're headed towards the small town of Royal Woods Taxi Driver: Royal Woods? Got it. Buckle up, buckaroo
A little over an hour later, the taxi cab arrives at the Loud family residence. Both Lynn Sr. and Rita are inside the house as they both took a day off work, however all the Loud children are at school, including Lily at preschool. Both Chi You Men members as well as Ryo exit the cab. Ryo approaches to try to attack both of them, but then both of them each grab out machine guns and start shooting at Ryo, who ducks and dodges their attacks, but is stalled by this attempt, allowing the two Chi You Men members to break down the door of the Loud residence, and barge right in. Lynn Sr. screams upon seeing these two break into his house.
Lynn Sr.: AAAH!
Rita walks in angrily, see's both men breaking in.
Rita: Who the hell are you two, and what the hell are you two doing, breaking into my house like that?!
Unscarred one: We're part of the Chi You Men, and we're looking for the Tiger Mirror, which we have found is located somewhere in this house.
Lynn Sr.: I don't know what the hell you re talking about, go away, both of you! Get out, shoo!
Scarred one: I don't respond lightly to that sentiment
Ryo barges in, the Chi You Men members move out of the way while still pointing their weapons at Rita and Lynn Sr.
Scarred one: Take another step, and these two die
Ryo looks sternly at Rita and Lynn Sr.
Ryo: Just tell them where the Tiger Mirror is located. I don't want either of you to get hurt.
Lynn Sr.: I told you, I don't know what you re all talking about
The scarred one then starts shooting Lynn Sr., who is tragically killed by the gun wounds. Rita and Ryo are devastated upon seeing Lynn Sr. s dead body. Ryo then becomes enraged, and starts charging at both Chi You Men members, kicking them down and beating them senselessly, grabbing their guns away from them afterwards.
Ryo: Guns are for cowards. Learn to fight fair.
Ryo then grabs the Tortoise Mirror out from the pockets of the scarred one, then looks over, see s Rita mourning over her husband. Ryo walks over to comfort her.
Ryo: I truly regret what has happened here to your husband, ma am. It was a sick and cowardly act that those two thugs committed here.
Rita: Who are you, and who are they? What s this Tiger Mirror that they re after?
Ryo: I m Ryo Hazuki, I come from Japan. Those two are members of the Chi You Men cartel, they followed me out here.
Rita: Chi You Men? Cartel?
Ryo: Second incarnation of them.
Ryo then grabs out the Tortoise Mirror
Ryo: This is the Tortoise Mirror. Vibrations from the mirror indicate there s another mirror called the Tiger Mirror located somewhere within this house.
Following the vibration of the mirror, Rita and Ryo find the Tiger Mirror inside Lynn and Lucy s room.
Ryo: This is the Tiger Mirror. This is what those thugs were after.
Rita: What do all these mirrors mean?
Ryo: There's two mirrors called the Dragon Mirror and Phoenix Mirror, both currently under possession of the Chi You Men. All four of these mirrors each represent one of the Four Guardians. Legend has it when all four of these mirrors meet, the gates of heaven and earth will open, and Chi You will resurrect itself here on earth.
Rita: Chi You That s why they re called the Chi You Men
Rita and Ryo then hear the two Chi You Men members talking downstairs, eavesdropping to discover them talking on the phone with Chen Tong, leader of the Chi You Men.
Ryo: You and your family are not safe here. They killed your husband, they ll be after the rest of you all as well. How many children do you have, and where are they?
Rita: Leni, Luna, and Luan are at the high school, Lynn and Lincoln at the middle school, Lucy, Lana, Lola, and Lisa are at the elementary school, Lily is at Baby Bunker Preschool.
Ryo: So ten children in total?
Rita: Well, there s also my oldest, Lori, but she's in college now.
Ryo: Where at?
Rita: Fairway University.
Ryo: She won t be safe there, the Chi You Men can and will seek your whole family out.
Ryo waits until the Chi You Men members have their backs turned, then he palm attacks both of them down.
Ryo: You have any rope?
Rita: I'll go get some from the garage.
Ryo: Make it quick, before they can get back up.
Rita rushes to the garage to grab some rope, hands it to Ryo, who uses it to tie the thugs. Rita then calls 911. Later on, the police arrive, the two Chi You Men members are handcuffed and brought into the police car, while Lynn Sr.'s corpse is put into a body bag, Ryo comforting Rita as they both watch Lynn Sr. s dead body being taken away. Another police car shows up, dropping off Leni, Luna, and Luan, who were taken home early from school upon the principal notifying them that their father was murdered. All three of them walk up to Rita and Ryo. Luan walks up to hug her mother, while Leni watches and cries watching her father being taken away, with Luna comforting her as she cries.
Leni: Daddy! Please don t leave us!
Luna: It s gonna be okay Leni, We'll get through this, I promise
Another police car arrives, dropping off Lynn and Lincoln. Lincoln joins Luan in hugging his mother, Lynn walks over to the garage door and starts hitting it aggressively out of rage. Another police car arrives, dropping off Lucy, Lana, Lola, Lisa, and even Lily. All five of them run to their mother to hug her.
Lily: No more daddy?
Lana: How could this happen?!
An hour later, the police have left, and all the anger and sadness from the Loud family has settled down. The Loud siblings then all look over at Ryo, attempting to ask who he is, but before any of them can talk, Lori pulls up to the house and gets out of her car, greeting her mother and siblings with tearful hugs, before then looking up at Ryo.
Lori: Oh, you must be from the estate. I'm Lori, I'm their oldest daughter.
Rita: He's not from the estate.
Ryo: I'm not from the estate. I was a witness to your father s murder.
The Loud siblings all gasp upon hearing this. Ryo then grabs out the Tiger Mirror.
Ryo: Any of you recognize this?
Luna and Lincoln turn angrily at Lucy. Ryo takes notice and walks up to ask Lucy.
Ryo: Was it you who discovered this?
Luna: She stole it from the antique shop at the mall!
Rita: She WHAT?!
Lucy starts crying as her mother and siblings stare at her angrily, but Ryo tries to console her.
Ryo: It s not your fault, you didn t know any better
Rita: Well, she did steal it
Ryo: It doesn t belong in an antique shop in the first place. Imagine if the Chi You Men found it before she did!
Luan: Chi You who?
Ryo: Chi You Men, they re the ones who murdered your father, they killed him over the mirror.
Lola: Those bastards Sorry for the language.
Lincoln: Why are they killing people over a stupid little artifact?
Ryo: This is the Tiger Mirror
Ryo grabs out the Tortoise Mirror from his other pocket
Ryo: This is the Tortoise Mirror. There s two other mirrors, the Dragon Mirror and Phoenix Mirror, which the Chi You Men are currently in possession of. If all four of these mirrors meet, legend has it that the gates of heaven and earth will open, and Chi You will be resurrected here on earth.
Lynn: Chi You Chi You Men Ryo: This iteration of the Chi You Men is a second incarnation, started by Chen Tong. There was an iteration of them beforehand They murdered my father, about thirty years ago.
Lori: Your father was murdered by them too?
Ryo: My father was murdered by one of the leaders of the Chi You Men, Zhao Longsun, whom was more famously known as Lan Di. The ones who murdered your father were anonymous henchmen. This incarnation is much bigger than the previous one, and more dangerous.
Luna: What happened with the initial incarnation?
Ryo: It s a long story
Leni: Also, who are you, anyway?
Ryo: I m Ryo Hazuki, I came here from Japan. Speaking of that I need you all to come back with me to Japan
The Loud children all gasp upon hearing Ryo say this.
Lynn: What?!
Luan: Japan?!
Leni: Hey, isn't that where an-iym comes from?
Lucy: An-i-may, not an-iym.
Lincoln: And leave all our friends behind?
Rita: He s right, kids I overheard, the Chi You Men are now tracking our family down.
Lori: Won t they just track us down in Japan, too?
Rita then looks over at Ryo, finding trustworthiness in him, then looking back at her children.
Rita: I'll stay behind. You all go with Ryo.
Luna: What?!
Rita: Ryo, if they ever approach you or my kids in Japan, tell them I have both mirrors!
Lincoln: Mom, please no!
Rita: Don t worry, Lincoln. Trust me, I'm a badass bitch, no Chi You thug would ever do diddly to me! I'll rip out their eyeballs and spit into their open sockets!
Lori: She s right Don t worry about her, Linc, she'll be fine.
Ryo: So it s settled then.
Ryo points to the Vanzilla
Ryo: Is this your guys s family van?
Luna: It s the Vanzilla, and yes!
Ryo: Let s get in then, we ll catch the nearest flight to Tokyo.
One day later, the plane that the Loud siblings and Ryo are on lands in Tokyo.
Later on, the Loud siblings and Ryo are seen arriving at the Hazuki residence in Yamanose. Ryo first shows all of them to the Hazuki Dojo.
Ryo: This is the Hazuki Dojo, this is where I trained with my father when I was a child.
Lola: Looks very clean Your whole yard looks clean too, I m impressed, Ryo!
Ryo: Which one of you is the strongest, physically strongest, of the family?
All the siblings point to Lynn. Lynn raises her hand in delight. Ryo points to Lynn.
Ryo: Alright Spar with me.
Lynn: What?
Ryo: Fight me. I need to test your skill level.
Lynn shrugs, but then stands up and starts hitting and kicking Ryo to no success. Ryo eventually elbows her in a way that knocks her down but is gentle enough to not hurt her. Ryo then reaches out his hand and helps Lynn back up off the ground.
Ryo: You re going to need training. I want you to become strong enough to hold off the Chi You Men.
Lynn: Okay, I accept.
Ryo: Anyone else want martial arts training?
Lana: Oh, me! I ll do it, martial arts training sounds like fun!
Ryo: Lose the thought about fun. It's not about fun. Fun is not what s important, especially at a time like this where the Chi You Men are after you all.
Lana: Okay
Ryo: Anyone else?
None of the other siblings say anything. Ryo points to Lincoln.
Ryo: What about you? You re the only boy, don t you want martial arts training?
Lincoln: Oh, uh, I think you ve got the wrong idea, you see, I don t fight.
Leni: Our little Linky is a lover, not a fighter!
Lori: Our little peacemaker Linky!
Ryo: Okay, I see the problem here, this boy grew up with too many mommies.
Lincoln: Hey!
Lynn: Hehehe!
Ryo: Can it, Lynn.
Lynn: Sorry.
Ryo: I won t force you to do martial arts training, Linc, but I want to ask you this. You love your sisters, don t you?
Lincoln: Absolutely! One boy, ten girls, wouldn t trade it for the world!
Ryo: Wouldn t trade it for the world, eh? If that s the case, shouldn t that bear you the responsibility of protecting them from the world? Don t you want to make sure the ones you love stay alive and safe, without being at the mercy of some other force in hopes they will do all of that for you?
Lincoln: I see your point Alright, I ll do it!
Lisa: Don t worry about your stature, bro! I can develop testosterone medicine for you!
Voice: Good, my little brother can use some himself!
Everyone in the dojo looks back, and sees Ryo s children, Akari and Kensuke, entering the dojo.
Kensuke: Hey! Don't embarrass me like that, sis! Also, little brother?! We're twins, dammit!
Akari: I was the first born twin though suck it up, little bro!
Kensuke walks over to Lisa.
Kensuke: You can do that, though, right? Make testosterone medicine?
Akari laughs
Kensuke: I m asking for a friend Akari: Sure you are!
Lori: Oh, who are you two?
Ryo: These are Akari and Kensuke, my two children. Akari, Kensuke, these are the Loud siblings. Their family was in possession of the Tiger Mirror.
Ryo points Akari and Kensuke to Lynn, Lincoln, and Lana
Ryo: Those three will be training with you.
Akari: Oh, cool, new training partners! Good, because my old one is super lame!
Kensuke: Hey! Screw you, Akari!
Ryo: Can it, both of you.
Lynn: I like this Akari chick, she sounds like a badass like me!
Akari: I like you too, uh, what s your name?
Lynn: Lynn Lynn Loud!
Akari: Lynn Loud, eh? Want to become bestest of friends?!
Lynn: It would be my pleasure!
Kensuke walks up to Lincoln
Kensuke: Are, are you the only boy of this family?
Lincoln: Affirmative, yes I am.
Kensuke: Damn Do they gang up upon you because of it?
Lincoln: Oh yeah, that happens a lot.
Kensuke: Damn! It was bad enough for me with one sister, Akari patronized and belittled me all the time growing up! She was also always better than me at martial arts as well
Lincoln: You gotta have thick skin when you re in my position.
Kensuke: You re a real trooper, buddy Say, why don t we become honorary brothers?
Lincoln: Honorary Honorary brothers?
Kensuke: Absolutely! Brothers from other mothers! I ll have your back, you ll have mine!
Lincoln: Sure! Why not?
Shenhua then walks into the dojo.
Shenhua: Ryo! You ve made it back!
Ryo: Kids, this is Shenhua, she s my wife, and the mother of Akari and Kensuke.
Lola: Hi Shenhua, I love your dress!
Shenhua: Oh, th-thanks, you re too sweet!
Ryo: I met Shenhua in China, about thirty years ago, when I was seeking after the man who killed my father, Lan Di.
Lola: Say, what does the name Shenhua mean?
Shenhua: I was named after the flowers of a tree, known as the Shenmue Tree.
Shenhua grabs a picture of the Shenmue Tree out from her pockets. Lola holds and stares at it. The other Loud siblings gather behind her to look at the photo.
Lola: The Shenmue Tree
Lucy: May I see it?
Lola hands the photo to Lucy
Lucy: The Shenmue Tree It feels so deep so spiritual
Ryo: I've seen and felt that tree for myself before, when I went to China around thirty years ago. I ve always been convinced that it does have a spirit that the tree was somehow alive
Guizhang then walks into the dojo.
Guizhang: Hazuki!
Ryo: Guizhang!
Guizhang: Who are all these kids you brought with?
Ryo: They re the Louds.
Guizhang: Louds? Is that a joke?
Ryo: No, that s actually their family name Point is, their family was the one in possession of the Tiger Mirror.
Guizhang: Have you found the Tiger Mirror? Do you also still have the Tortoise Mirror?
Ryo grabs out both mirrors.
Guizhang: Well done, Ryo. Make sure to keep both of them safe and sound.
Ryo looks back over at the Loud siblings
Ryo: How many of you are sixteen years of age or older?
Lori, Leni, and Luna all raise their hands; Ryo points to all three of them.
Ryo: You three will be working at the harbor. You can get them a job at the harbor, right, Guizhang?
Guizhang: You bet your ass I can.
Ryo: Fantastic.
Lori: The harbor? What will we be doing?
Guizhang: Most likely forklifting is what the three of you will be doing.
Leni: Forklifting? You can get paid for just picking up forks?
Luna: Not that kind of forklifting. We ll be operating heavy machinery.
Leni: Heavy machinery, huh? I don t like the sound of that!
Guizhang: Get used to it, valley girl, you ll be doing it a lot.
Ryo: So Lori, Leni, and Luna will be working the forklifts, and Lynn, Lincoln, and Lana will be doing martial arts training Oh, and Lisa, you said you d help both Lincoln and Kensuke out with.. you know what
Lynn: Hehehehe!
Akari: We all know what!
Ryo: Can it, both of you!
Lynn: You're no fun, Ryo!
Ryo looks over at Lola
Ryo: Lola, since you seem to be hitting it off well with Shenhua, why don't you help her out with the cooking and sewing?
Lola: Sure, I'd love to!
Ryo then looks over at Lucy
Ryo: Lucy, you re the one who found the Tiger Mirror, right?
Lucy: Oh, yes, that was me.
Ryo: Are you able to read kanji?
Lucy: Yes, actually
Ryo: I have a book called the Wulinshu, I want you to teach it to Lynn, Lincoln, and Lana.
Lucy: Fair enough, I can do that.
Ryo then looks over at Luan.
Ryo: As for you, Luan take care of your baby sister
Lily. Lily: I'm not a baby!
Guizhang: So it's all settled now, all of you have a job and responsibility while staying here at the Hazuki Residence.
Lori grabs her phone.
Lori: I'm gonna call Bobby, I haven t talked to him since we got to Japan.
Lori calls Bobby s number, but immediately finds it s not Bobby on the other line.
Lori: Hello? Bobby?
Voice: Bobby? You looking for Bobby?!
Lori: Who are you?
Voice: We re the Chi You Men! If you lookin for Bobby, he s under lock and key at the moment!
Lori hangs up in shock.
Lori: The Chi You Men They got my boo bear!
Ryo: They got your what?!
Lori: My boyfriend, Bobby They got him, the Chi You Men got him!
Ryo: Shit Lincoln: Lori, let me see your phone, I need to call up Clyde!
Lori hands Lincoln her phone, Lincoln calls, hears another unfamiliar voice.
Lincoln: Clyde?
Voice: Clyde? You lookin for Clyde?!
Lincoln: Are you part of the Chi You Men?!
Voice: Damn straight, we own this whole damn town!
Lincoln hangs up
Lincoln: They got him, too!
Lori: No, this can't be!
Ryo: Listen everyone, the Chi You Men are a dangerous bunch, but we can't provoke them or your captive friends could get killed.
Ryo points to Lynn, Lincoln, and Lana, then to Akari and Kensuke.
Ryo: I'm going to build all five of you up physically through martial arts training. After all is said and done, we're headed to the Chi You Men s base of operation to kick their ass.
