Hello my fine readers! I present to you, Jailbreak. It's been busy at work so I hope this was worth the wait. Let me know what you think!
I don't own Sly Cooper. Only Regina.
Read, Review, Enjoy!
(Bentley POV)
It took a sleepless week of data-crunching, but I eventually tracked down the location of my friends. Locked away, in the mysterious towers of Prague. I dug into everything I could get my hands on, but I could not find out where they are keeping Regina. That either means that they are keeping her hidden, or she's not even there. For Sly's sake, I'm hoping it's the first. At the moment, they are the unwilling guests of Interpol's most renowned Prison Warden, The Contessa. While still a Criminal Psychology student, she entered into a whirlwind romance, and married a wealthy aristocrat. Sadly, the union was short-lived as The General suspiciously died a few weeks after the ceremony. The widowed Contessa put her education and newly acquired estate to work, by opening a Criminal Rehabilitation Center. Her pioneered use of Hypnotherapy had produced some good results and subsequently earned her a prominent position within Interpol. My friends, and possibly Regina, are locked up somewhere in the Clinic; and are waiting for the Contessa's good Samaritan Brainwashing. If I don't bust them out soon, they'll be working a 9-5 job selling shoes; I'll be out 2 best friends; and Sly could possibly lose his soulmate, forever!
Bentley Saves the Gang in: Jailbreak
(Bentley POV)
Quickly after settling into a safehouse close to the prison, I grabbed my gear and headed out to the Contessa's house. I had to be extra careful, because there were guards everywhere. While avoiding the big vulture guards, I had to shoot some of the sleeping coyote and bat guards to get past them. On top of that, there were patrolling tanks! I had to avoid stepping into their lights or they would fire at me. Eventually, I made it to the Contessa's house. I had to avoid the floor spikes and jump onto the roof. Just as soon as I landed, the Contessa came into view. It looks like she was out making her rounds. Luckily, my sleep darts vibrated near sound. I used that to my advantage by shooting at her so I can listen to her as she spoke to herself. I had to be quick though, she never stayed in one place for too long. But with my targeting skills, I was able to get her without her noticing.
"The Klaww Gang is falling apart, and spice shipments have all but stopped. BAH! I never would've joined if I had known it would be this easy to disrupt the plan. Well at least the Cooper Gang is under lock and key. Their lopsided morality flies in the face inherent selfishness. Ah well, they will see it my way soon enough. Those fools at Interpol! They keep sending me criminals and I keep making money! How come no one ever thought of this before? Hypnotize criminals and force them to tell me where they have hidden their fortune. I'm a genius! If only I had more spice to help me with the hypnosis! That blasted Cooper Gang! The fat one, what's his name? Murray, yes Murray. He'll be the first to break. I should spend a few sessions probing that feeble mind of his. I can't imagine the wealth that gang has accumulated over the years. That Sly Cooper, such a rebellious and complex mind, along with Regina Vulpez! Only a fool like Constable Neyla would think that simple hypnosis and seduction could break such a powerful bond! It's a good thing that I'm keeping them separated! Sly will soon realize that she's truly gone, so long as I keep her locked up in my castle, far from here! Not to mention how I'm suppressing the bond with a special collar! A few months in The Hole should break Cooper's spirit. Let him squat there, week after week, not knowing where his precious Vulpez is! He's seen the guards along the wall have motion detectors. There is no escape. Soon the reality of his and Vulpez's captivity will sink in, then I'll get to work on his mind!" The Contessa jumped away and out of site. I froze in my stance as she disappeared.
"INCONCEIVABLE! She's no healthcare professional! Why those are the most heinous crimes I ever heard of: Putting inmates into hypnosis, so they'll tell her where they've stashed their loot! And hypnotizing Sly, so Constable Neyla could seduce Sly and break the bond between him and Regina! That's a crime against Nature herself! Luckily it sounds like it didn't work, otherwise the Contessa wouldn't have needed to use a special Collar to suppress their bond so Sly can't sense where Regina is! I better get to work and figure out how to break Sly out of The Hole. He's not going to be happy when he hears that Regina is not here." I said. Staying on top of the house I looked around. I noticed, by the water, an electromagnetic train was zooming by every now and then.
"Hmm, there's got to be some computers that control that electromagnetic train." I said before climbing down. While avoiding the guards and the train, I followed the tracks and discovered several computers.
"Hmm, if I can hack into those computers, I can transform the train into a giant projectile. It should be enough to make a hole large enough for Sly to escape through the prison wall." I said. There were 6 computers total that I had to hack. The more computers I hacked, the faster the train got. The security was really tight, and I had to avoid getting hit by the train while following the tracks. But in no time, I was able to hack them all. As a result, the train was out of control and flew off the tracks and straight into the Prison wall.
"A beautiful trajectory!" I complimented. Just like I thought, the train made a perfect size hole so Sly could escape. Now all I had to do was take out the guards with motion detectors along the wall, or Sly wouldn't be able to escape. Getting to a good vantage point on top of the safe house, I launched my RC Chopper. It was tricky, the guards shot at me from below and fired homing missiles at me, but I made short work of them. Now that the guards were taken care of, Sly was able to escape.
(Sly POV)
I was awoken from my sleep in this cramped cell by loud explosions. I crawled to the door, just when a guard fell off the wall, dead. I looked up and saw a heavenly sight, the RC Chopper. I smirked as I watched it take out the guards.
"Bentley!" I said to myself. I got away from the door as a bomb was dropped and the cell was blown open. I quickly grabbed my cane and got out of there. Bentley immediately called me on the Binocucom.
"Sly, do you read me?"
"How I've missed that sensuous voice of yours."
"Save the jocular comments for later. There's a hook above your cell, it's your only means of escape. Use it to swing to the top of the train and get out through the hole. I've already set up a safe house and marked it in your thief mask."
"Wow you've really thought of everything. But before I do that, I've got to find Regina. I can't sense where she is. Please tell me you know where she is."
"I hate to tell you this pal, but I'm afraid Regina is not here. Don't worry Sly, we will find her, but we need to get back together and rescue Murray. But I promise, we will find her."
"You're right pal, Thanks for busting me out by the way."
"Well you know what they say, 'if you can't count on a friend to bust you out of jail, what kind of friend are they?'"
"Truer words were never spoken, Wizard" I said, finally calling him by the nickname he wanted at the museum. Focusing, I was trying to see if I can track Regina, but it was like I was being blocked. That really had me worried, but right now, I just wanted to get home and get a bath to clean off Neyla's disgusting marks she left on me. Not feeling like fighting the guards, I quickly ran all the way back to the safe house Bentley found. I threw myself in and collapsed on the floor. I was finally free. Bentley closed the door and helped me to a seat. He handed me a bottle of water and I guzzled it down.
"Are you ok, Sly?" he asked. I nodded as I caught my breath. It felt like I was breathing air for the 1st time.
"I heard about what Neyla and the Contessa tried to do." He said sheepishly. I growled in anger at the disgusting thought about what I nearly did. I still felt like I betrayed Regina even though I was hypnotized. I could still feel the disgusting lips of the tigress on me and I just felt dirty.
"I don't want to talk about that, ever! I just want to get myself clean." I said. Bentley nodded.
"First let me look at that scratch." He got his first aid kit out and cleaned the scratch. He said it looked like it was going to scar. I swear, I will make Neyla pay for everything she's done! He then pointed to the back bathroom where I could get cleaned up. I spent 20 minutes scrubbing my fur, and I had to stop myself before I scrubbed myself raw. Finally feeling clean enough, I put my uniform back on and met Bentley and he cooked up another of his plans.
"Ok, I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that I've done some data crunching and found that Murray is doing time in Cell Block B. The bad news is that Regina is not here. The Contessa is trying to keep you separated from her. She hoped that by keeping you from Regina, she'd be able to penetrate both of your minds. To make things worse, while listening in, I overheard her say that she's using a special collar to suppress your soulmate bond. That is why you are not able to sense where she is. Once we get Murray out, we'll go after the Contessa. She's sure to lead us to Regina so we can rescue her.
Anyway, freeing Murray is going to be tough. As we both know, he's not very light on his feet. First, we'll need him to get thrown into an isolation cell away from the other inmates. Second, I'll need you to get a sample of the Contessa's Encryption Algorithm. Don't worry, I'll explain later. Third, you'll need to pickpocket a few keys and the tank patrol schedule off the Contessa but watch out for her pack of bodyguards. Finally, you'll have to destroy the Contessa's giant attack robot… no seriously, the Contessa has a Giant Attack Robot, it just looks like a water tower. Now once you complete all these jobs, we'll be ready to make a play for the big guy." Bentley instructed. I grabbed my cane and headed out. The sooner we got Murray out, the sooner we can find Regina and get her away from the Contessa.
The closest job was by the water leading through a tunnel. I headed over and then called Bentley for instructions.
"Ok Sly, we need to get Murray thrown into Solitary Confinement. That tube across the way will lead you to his cell. Crawl in there and relay the plan. After that it's all up to Murray." He instructed.
"Alright, I'm headed inside." I ran across logs in the water and made it to the tube and crawled in. Luckily there was only one way so I made it to Murray's cell in no time and called out to him.
"Murray…psst…hey Murray"
"Huh? Sly? Where are you?" he asked as I saw him running around looking for me.
"Over here, in the back wall"
"Sly! I'm so glad to see you, they've been forcing me to eat meals covered in spice and I'm feeling weirded out. You've gotta get me outta here." He begged.
"We're working on it. Bentley seems to have found a weakness in the Solitary confinement cell. If you get into a big enough fight, the guards will throw you in there. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience." I said to him, remembering the time I was arrested and got into a fight when someone made me mad, vulgarly talking about Regina, when she first started chasing me. They were talking about how they would like to bend her over the table in the interrogation cell and I just couldn't tolerate that disgusting talk over the cop I was falling for at that time. I got into a big fight and I was thrown into Solitary for a week before I busted out.
"Well I suppose a powerful force like 'The Murray' could take down 50 foes, if I had too." Murray said.
"Excellent, you beat the snot out of 50 of those guys, and Bentley and I will handle the rest." I said before slipping away to get my other jobs done.
(Murray POV)
I was so happy to see that Sly was out and working on getting me out. I heard about what Neyla did and I used that to channel my fury and build up my strength. A few inmates were out and about. Smirking, I walked up to the punk and punched him in the air and then kicked him away. The alarm sounded off and then I was ambushed. They were coming at me from everywhere and I was actually having fun. There were spikes and lasers that I used to my advantage.
"BRING IT ON SUCKAS!" I shouted while counting 25 goons pounded. The closer to 50 I got, the more excited I got.
"BOOYAH, giant turkeys!" I called out to the guards, grabbing their attention. Effortlessly, I got to 50 victories.
"50! EAT THAT YOU INCARCERATING SUCKAS!" I shouted, pounding my fists. The vulture guards surrounding me with a scowl on their faces.
"Oh what, you gonna throw me in Solitary?" I asked before a cage surrounded me.
"BRING IT ON!"
(Sly POV)
After leaving Murray to do his part, I used my binocucom and found the next job to be just across the bridge, close to the prison entrance. I made it there and just as soon as I called Bentley, the Contessa showed up.
"To get at Murray, I need you to pickpocket 2 keys and a tank patrol schedule from the Contessa." Bentley instructed.
"No problem, I've got a good hand at pickpocketing."
"This is going to be tougher than you think. The Contessa is no fool. Since your escape, she never goes anywhere without bodyguards. You'll need to take them out to get close to her." Bentley warned. I thought a little bit and remembered something I bought from Thiefnet just recently.
"I should use noise to lure the guards away from her." I said. Looking down, I saw 2 vulture guards walk behind her. Making sure no other guards were nearby, I smashed a barrel and a guard came running. I snuck around him and then took him out. I ran to catch up with the Contessa and saw she only had one more guard. Carefully I snuck up on the guard and then ran away where he heard me. The guard followed me back through the tunnel. I had to wait until the guard started rushing to catch back up with the Contessa and then I took him out. Now the Contessa was fully exposed. I quietly snuck up on her and stole a key. She froze and looked around.
"Who goes there? Where…where are my guards?!" She exclaimed before she used her web and got away.
"Great job Sly, I've already got her position locked down. She's patrolling on the Prison Grounds." Bentley said. I sighed at the thought of going back in there. I found a pipe on the tracks which led me to the top of the Prison wall. Sure enough, the Contessa was just walking by, down below. I had to be real careful this time around. First, I took care of the guards on the roof, so they didn't alert the Contessa. Then I took the guards protecting her, while avoiding the spotlights. Once they were gone, I stole the 2nd key and once again spooked the spider lady.
"Huh? They're gone again!" She said before she web shot away again.
"Great, now you just need the tank patrol schedule. She's close to the safe house now. Be careful." Bentley warned. I quickly tracked her down and saw that she had 3 guards with her this time. After taking out all the guards on the rooftops, I took out one guard then ran away when the one in front of me came running to investigate. I had to be real careful this time. The Contessa was patrolling around the same area and if she saw me, I'm busted. It was straightforward, taking out the other guards, but I alerted the Contessa and hid in a barrel before she saw me. Luckily, she didn't catch me. She shrugged her shoulders, not realizing her guards were gone and continued her way. I jumped out of the barrel, snuck up behind her and snatched the schedule off her and got away.
"Where are those lazy bodyguards?! They're all fired!" She growled out before web shooting away for good this time. I chuckled when she didn't realize that they were actually dead.
"Great work, now we're all set up to steal a tank." Bentley said.
"Awesome, just one step closer to getting Murray back and then finding Regina." I said. Honestly, I'm worried sick. If the Contessa is keeping her somewhere else, there's no telling what's happening to her. I can't sense her or sense if she's in danger like I'm normally able to.
"I know, Sly. I'm worried about Regina too. But don't worry, we'll find her. I promise." Bentley reassured me. I nodded and pulled out my binocucom. It looks like I still had 3 jobs. The closest one was under the main bridge. So I headed over there and met up with Bentley.
"Sly, those giant pipes up there feed power to the prison security systems. I'll need to cut the connection to free Murray." He said.
"Sounds like a plan, what do you need me for?"
"As you know, the bridge is heavily guarded."
"I hear ya, you'd like a little protection while you place the bombs."
"That's correct" I looked around and saw that there was no place to hide.
"Love to help out, but there's no place on the bridge to hide, we're totally exposed."
"That's true, but if you break the statues and take their place, the guards won't see you." Bentley instructed.
"I pose like a statue, the guards walk on by, then POW, I hit them from behind! You're a genius." I said. Bentley just smirked and brushed it off.
"That's also correct" Bentley said. He ran under the bridge and began placing the bombs. I saw the guard coming so I quickly took out a statue and posed like the one across from me. The idiot didn't even notice me and walked on by. Just as planned I took him out from behind.
"Ha! Stupid guard!" I said.
"I'm done here. Follow me to the top of the bridge and watch my back!" Bentley said before bouncing on a web to the top of the bridge. I followed him and sure enough, he got to work on one side, while the guards started coming through the gate on the other side. These guards were so dumb, that I almost felt bad for them, almost. I decided to have some fun when the smaller guards came out. I used my insanity smack to turn the guards on each other. It was so funny to watch as they fought each other. Finally, when only one survived, I took him out myself. Normally I fight my own battles, but I couldn't resist this. Bentley kept on running back and forth across the bridge placing the bombs where they needed to be when he finally finished. While the bridge exploded, we ran and got out of there.
"That takes care of the power to the security system." Bentley said. He headed back to the safe house. I climbed back up to the cliff to get a better look and saw that my next closest job was back in the prison. I really didn't want to go back in there, but I had to if I wanted to get Murray out, then find Regina. Remembering that there was a pipe leading up to the Prison Wall, I quickly made my back onto the railroad tracks and climbed up the pipe. Jumping onto the rooftop, I saw through my thief mask that my rendezvous point was in the center of the prison on top of the tower. It took some doing but I managed to get up there. Still not knowing what I was doing, I contacted Bentley for further instructions.
"Ok Sly, over there by the prison wall, is the Contessa's giant attack robot." Bentley said. I paused in confusion and scratched the back of my head.
"You know Bentley, that robot looks a lot like a water tower."
"Don't be fooled, that's what she wants you to think. If we attempt to free Murray with that thing still operational, why…"
"What, we'll have plenty of fresh drinking water?"
"I'M SERIOUS SLY!"
"Ok, ok. I do owe you one. So what's the plan?"
"These Lightning Rods around the Prison are designed to draw lightning strikes away from the water tower err… Giant Attack Robot." I looked around and sure enough, I saw lightning strike and it looked to have been absorbed by the rods that he was talking about.
"Uh huh, yeah."
"By turning the wheels on the rods, you should be able to redirect the electrical current away from it's ground wire, rendering it useless. Follow the lightning strikes to find all 5 rods around the Prison."
"Ok, so you want me to break the ground circuit on all these lightning rods, so that a bolt will strike and destroy the Giant Attack Robot, posing as a water tower?" I summarized, still conspicuous about this plan, but I needed to trust Bentley. He would never lie to me or send me out to do something if it wasn't important.
"That's an accurate summation" Bentley said before he hung up. The first lightning rod was dead ahead. Following Bentley's instructions, I turned all 3 wheels on the rod. After turning the lost wheel, the rod gave a groan so that must've meant that it's done for.
"Great job Sly, now follow the lightning strikes to find the others" Bentley instructed. Looking around, I saw a bolt strike on top of the prison wall. Following the strike was easy but getting to the rod was the hard part. I had to climb up a rope and run on a wire to get to it. Just before I jumped on to the roof, the rod started to glow.
"Watch out Sly. If the rod starts to glow, get clear before you get zapped!" Bentley warned. I nodded and stood a ways away until a bolt struck, then got to work on breaking the rod. 2 down, 3 to go. The bolts left, led me outside the prison. Thank goodness, I hated that place. The last 3 were easier to get to as they were all on the rooftops of houses around the prison. After ruining the last rod, a metallic growl reached my ears. I almost fell off my pedestal when I saw a bolt strike the water tower, revealing evil red eyes. The robot growled and shook before it fell apart.
"Like I said: Giant Attack ROBOT!" Bentley gloated.
"I'll never doubt you again pal!" I said. Now I only had one last job to complete. I made my way back into the prison to the rooftop of a cell block and was looking down at a guard, standing post at a control panel.
"Sly, I need your help getting a handle on the Contessa's encryption algorithm." Bentley said, making me completely confused.
"I'd love to pal, but I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Alright, I'll explain it to you, one piece at a time. You see that security station, the guard nearby is responsible for it's upkeep."
"I'm with you."
"First, pickpocket the key off the guard, then go back and set off the alarm."
"Wait, you want me to set off the alarm?!"
"Yeah, set it off and get out of there. The guard is sure to come running. Once he sees that it's a false alarm, he'll input the code to turn it off."
"So you want me to take a picture of the code?"
"Move to a safe place and get a clean shot of that digital read out."
"Should I hit all the security stations out here?"
"That's right, once I've got a large enough sample of the Contessa's codes, it will be easy to crack her encryption algorithm."
"Ok, now you've lost me."
"Just take the pictures, I'll handle the rest." Bentley said. I nodded and then got to work. It was a good thing that my binocucom had a sensor to tell me when it was a clear shot for the photo, so before I stole the key, I decided to find a safe spot to take the picture on the rooftop across from my target. Once I was satisfied, I quickly stole the key and went back to set off the alarm. The guard rushed over as I climbed back up to my spot. I pulled out my binocucom and got a photo of the code once it was inputted.
"Great job Sly, now head out for the other terminals and get more codes for me. I've marked all the locations in your thief mask" Bentley instructed. I nodded and looked around. The next closest one was on the other side of the wall. So I climbed up and over. The guard for this terminal wasn't patrolling. He was standing guard in front of the terminal. It was child's play to get the key, now I had to get him away from the terminal, long enough for me to set off the alarm and get back to my chosen spot, before he spotted me. Noticing a lightning rod before, I climbed up there and tested out the shot. It was clear, but I had to make sure the guard was far enough, so I had enough time to get back up here. Using an alarm clock in my pack, I threw it a little way away from the guard. He took the bait and went to investigate. I quickly jumped back down, set off the alarm, climbed back up to the rod and took the photo of the code once it showed up.
"Excellent, only 2 more terminals to go and I'll have a large enough sample. Your next target is by the safehouse." Bentley said. I nodded and headed under the tunnel back over to the safe house. Sure enough, the guard was patrolling around the terminal. This one was a little tricky though. Taking some time to think, I rushed up to the bridge, swung across the hooks to the housetop, took out the guards close by and tested the photo. Seeing that it was clear I got to work and got the photo.
"Great work Sly, the last terminal is over by the Contessa's house. Watch out for the patrolling tanks, they'll blow you to bits if they catch you." Bentley warned.
"Duly noted pal" I said. My thieving senses were tingling as I spotted the guard patrolling around with a full pocket. Getting the key was easy, but the problem was that the screen was angled so I had to find the right spot to get the photo. It looked like my best spot would be on the cliff across from the terminal so I had to be fast in setting the alarm, climbing up the light pole, run across the wire, and swing on the hooks to get to the cliff before the code disappeared. It was tricky, but I was able to get the photo just before the terminal rebooted.
"Ok that should be enough codes. Nice work partner!" Bentley exclaimed.
Seeing that all my jobs were done, I headed back to the safehouse. Bentley already had a plan cooked up and we were ready to rescue Murray, get the heck out of here and find my beloved Regina. I just hope that she's ok. With the bond being suppressed, there's no telling what is happening to her. Regardless, once we get out of here, we'll go after her, and bring her home.
Part 2 is next!
