A/N: Hello Everyone!
This is my first story, so please bare with me and welcome aboard. The chapters in this story are working out to be around 1000 words, so that should make for a kind of long story. I am hoping to post on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I will try to be fair and post an extra chapter when the first one feels too short. I have started with Bella at 12 and Nessie at 9, and I hope to finish out their school year and summer in this story. I hope to do more stories in the future about their following school years. I hope that you enjoy yourself, laugh a little, and fall in love with this story as I have fallen in love with so many of the stories that I have read on here. Thank you for reading.
Of course, I don't own any of the Twilight Characters or material, just the story that I put them in. I just like to make them do my bidding for awhile.
Our First Summer
It was the first day of Summer, and – as was Cullen family tradition – Esme had invited everyone over to the house for a barbeque. We ate, the adults drank, and we played around in the Cullen's pool. Everyone had come, Mr. and Mrs. Whitlock and McCarty, even Nani and Pappy Brandon. After dark, Carlisle, Billy, and dad handed out little sparklers and set out a few fireworks that Carlisle stored in the garage. To get a better view of the fireworks, we kids climbed up into Edward's massive treehouse. Before you worry, they pointed the fireworks across the water and away from us. Dad's a police chief, Billy's the fire chief, and Carlisle is a doctor. Please, we were safe.
So, up we went, telling them to wait until we were all situated to light the fuse. Edward sat next to me and Nessie had climbed on my lap. Alice and Rose sat on my other side, and Emmett, Jazz, and Jake sat behind them.
"You kids ready?" dad asked.
"Boys, do you really think that the kids should be up there while you're setting off those things?" Esme asked.
"They'll be fine, Es. Right, kids?" he answered, sticking his thumbs up at us.
"Charlie Fredrick Swan, if my girls get hurt up there because you men don't know what you're doing, so help me God…" mom threatened as she sank back into her lawn chair. I hope daddy knew that momma meant business.
"Alright, kiddos. Count it down for me."
Daddy held up five fingers with one hand and clicked the lighter with the other.
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Here goes nothing!" He said and carefully lit the end of the fuse on the first tower sparkler. After about ten seconds, the top exploded into the air, lighting up the sky with green, yellow, and purple sparks.
"Oooo, sisi! Look at all the sparks. Daddy, that's really pretty. Do another one. Do another one," Nessie shouted as she clapped her hands together.
"Sure, peanut. The pink one or the green one next?"
"Pink! Pink! Right, Bella? The pink one, right?" Nessie asked, jumping up and down, still seated on my lap.
"Right you are, Sis. Pink it is, daddy," I answered.
"Alrighty, girls. Carl, Nessie says pink is next."
"Excellent choice, Nessie." Carlisle said, and he placed it on the platform that they had built for fireworks. This time, Carlisle took the lighter from dad and lit the fuse. Ten seconds later, the pink tower sparkler went off, flashing pink, purple, and yellow. It was a princess themed one, with silver swirls of sparks following all of the colors.
"Oh, Kids! Look at Esme. We want pictures," Sarah said. Esme centered in front of the tree house and held up her camera.
"Okay, smile. Emmett, honey, hunch down. It's not my fault you're six feet tall. Jake, move in a little. Edward Anthony, put your hand down and stop giving Bella bunny ears," she instructed. I turned and smacked Edward's arm as Nessie giggled. "Okay, kids. Keep it together, smile, and say Summer vacation!"
"Summer Vacation!" We shouted, Nessie the loudest. Esme snapped a couple of pictures.
"This summer is going to be great," Jake said.
"I know. I can't wait," Emmett said. "We are going to have so much fun."
I'm so glad that Grammie and Grandpa Higginbottom decided to come here this year. They were missing the small town feel in Boston and wanted to get their fill this summer, while the weather was somewhat tolerable. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I would've left Forks too willingly this summer. I wanted to spend the summer with Alice and Rose and Emmett. Jake and Jasper. Nessie and Edward.
Yeah, I was pretty happy we transferred to Forks, and can't wait to see what the summer and future holds for all of us.
