As a child, Bellamy was always looking over his shoulder. Is that guard suspicious? Can they hear Octavia?
His whole life he's been a protector, and his whole life he's failed at it.
ii.
When the hundred hit the ground, he was ready to take his natural place, as leader, as protector.
But he didn't, not really, on a surface level maybe. In reality, it was blonde beauty, with eyes of steal and a level of untouchable he's never encountered. When she looks at him, calmly, he sees nothing but a fire in her eyes.
Clarke didn't have the ability to command respect from the beginning like he did, but she earned it in a way he never could.
iii.
Be brave.
"I am not afraid." It's a mantra in his head. Adam lies red, blistered, pussing. Holding the shank in his hand, Bellamy shakes. His stability is in stitches and it's being pulled apart, string by string.
"Kill...me." Adam's eyes are white, blinding. He wants to kill him, knows he should. His suffering, his aching, it bleeds into the ground they were all so afraid to only touch.
Bellamy's soles anchor, pull him to his knees. His hands rest catatonic, unable to move as the blade etches it way out of his fingers. Adam squirms and pleads. He's trying.
(That's the thing, he's always trying.)
Then, she's there, taking the knife from his grasp softly. Blonde hair and hardened eyed shake just as much as he did. The difference is, she didn't let it stop her.
(That's the thing, he's always trying, but Clarke, Clarke succeeds.)
She hums softly, with little stutters and breaks, the cold blade peaking by Adam's neck. Bellamy's eyes, vulnerable, warm, train on her as she inserts the knife with a shivering exhale. She squints the hurt away, cringing at the red liquid.
After the final breath leaves the fog's victim, her eyes meet his, and for the first time, the fire in them has melted into a fear. He realizes that Adam is the first person she's ever had to kill, and it stole a piece of her.
Her eyes betray her, reveal she isn't perfect, but she's trying to be. It's the only thing she can't succeed in.
(He'd comfort her, but they don't like each other very much.
He has the feeling he just saw the real her, and he likes that person, a lot. She's broken, sad, real, and now he just needs that person to like him. She's always looking for perfection though, in herself and in others, and he's anything but perfect.)

You'll never guess who just watched half a season the 100 until 4AM and I'm in love with them. I know absolutely nothing about this show and I'm going to try to keep it that way.
This series of oneshots will continue as the show goes on, but honestly, I'll probably lose my inspiration with how Clarke likes Finn.
I don't like him, and I don't know why. I Kinda feel like he's using her. Anyway, I'm loving the show and leave a review if you'd like!
My ship is burning and I'm on like episode 5 lol.
