After the Nexus has been destory humanity achived swift and easy victory over the Strogg, and it was thanks to one half man half machine, stroggificated by his enemy, but who would have tought because of it he will be humanity's last chance of survival? His fellows called him a freak, monster, but never really cared what others say about him, after the destruction of the Nexus he was treated as a war hero, but the mockery never really stopped, but he is strong willed, and because of the mods on his body he became faster, resistant, overall more powerfull than any human being, the drawbacks are not just his looks, he still hear the Strogg whispers and the Makron's maniac laugher in his head when sleeping.
New technological marvels are achived by captured tech from Stroggos, like new laser core for the ship's heavy blaster, its not just became more hard hitting but didnt overheat that fast and the rate of fire has increased by 25%. New standard issue blasters are made for the marines too, BP (Blaster-Pistol ) is by the looks are the same as the older model but fitted with a much better plasma-energy core and core cooler, its now capable shoot fully charged round without charging it up, the old uncharged rounds were removed, but its rate of fire not as good as the old one, but its still never run only overheat after some time of shooting. The old hyperblasters got new updates as well, new plasma-energy cores and coolants were installed, making them more hard hitting, accurate and just like the blaster pistols its never run out of ammo, just overheat. Medical equipment now uses the more powerfull steroids to keep the Marines in the fighting, its make them more resistant to pain and increase the awareness of the user, only small dosage is recommened due to its mediocre addictivity and that dosage is more than enough. New personel energy shield were made to military personel, increasing their survivability, its got a great wellcome amongs the marines. New teleporting technologies are in prototype stages, not tests were made yet.
Our half man half machine, Matthew Kane is now promoted to Staff Sergeant due to his role against
the Strogg, he is upgraded his armor with with the additional breastplate armor and installed his own energy shield into his armor and put the Rhino squad and SMC emblem onto the plate, issued with the BP and a new hyperblaster model with the upgrades, also with his trusty TCR-50 (Tactical-Carbine-Rifle-50) machinegun chambered with 7.62x51mm FMJ-AP rounds, he never really wanted to get rid of the machinegun, it is versatile and can be used any kinda situation, low recoil, great handling, high power, 80 round magazine capacity, no wonder its the marines favorite, he is also armed with the MSKB (Marine-Survival-Knife-Bayonett) monomolecular blade, capable to cut trough armor with a heavier trust and its attachable to the machinegun, the destruction of the Nexus was two years ago and he still didnt used the blade. Kane now doing his usuall routines everyday, doing workouts little it'll do with his armor attached onto him, but it occupies his mind, usually there is small missions like clean up Strogg straglers or deal with insurgents, back at the ship where now Rhino is stationed after the decommision of the SMC Haniball. He is not that talkative but sometimes get into conversations, his voice is affected by the mods but not much, when he got back to Earth people were shocked by his looks, but after they heard his story, people became kind towards him, well most at least. There were some little incidents with big mouthed marines, they got crippled after they attacked Kane, they didnt know how strong and fast he became, he's luck was the self-defense so he got off easy from the hook. For now Kane is waiting for his new assignment.

First fanfiction so bear with me, its not long because I meant this to be a prologue for the story, I try to update two chapters in every week.
I choose Quake 4 since story wise it was very promising and might be good for crossover.
