AYO EVERYONE!
I'm finally back after a long time (YES SCHOOL WAS STRESSFUL I'VE BEEN DOING SUMMER SCHOOL AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON IN MY COMPSCI CLASS) and I've been struggling with work for a while. Good to know I started this chapter a couple weeks ago and wrote it sparingly but it's finally here :')
Dahlia POV
I think the worst thing I wanted to see today was the figure of my cousin in my dorm.
Don't get me wrong. It's a relief I was able to share a room with her, but every single other danger overshadowed her appearance. Up until now, my only thought was if she was safe. Now that I see her in a sound condition, a mixture of anger, relief, and fear mix together. It probably shows.
"Dahlia," my cousin stands up to face me. "I-"
The door to the dorm room closes and I cut her off, drowning out any response she has for me. "What are you doing here?"
Clara shrinks back just a slight bit at my words and after hearing the bit of anger in my voice. She's not scared, but I can tell my cousin has already prepared for this possible scenario. I repeat my question again. "What are you doing here?"
Even if my cousin doesn't respond, I can already guess the answer she'll have for me. Still, I want to hear her say it. I want to know that it isn't a guess and that it's a choice I couldn't stop her from making. In other words, I need a confirmation.
Slowly, she speaks. "I came here to help. It's that simple."
I knew it. "Help me with what Clara? Getting yourself killed?"
Her amber eyes flare up at my accusation. "I'm not a weakling you know that."
"You should have just stayed put so I wouldn't have to worry about you being in danger."
"Worry about what?"
"Everything!" I can't scream, but the frustration in my voice is evident. "I don't want you to lose your life here. I don't want anyone else to die."
Uncle's face appears in my memory for a brief moment, reminding me of a death that I couldn't prevent. And knowing me, I would never forgive myself if I couldn't prevent Clara's death.
"I know I did something wrong by coming here," Clara says slowly. "But I will want to help you in any way I can. If it wasn't here, I would do it somewhere else. And I chose here because I know you need a lot help. And you shouldn't forget, you are Mare's daughter," she adds quietly. "You have to live no matter what."
"Mom was always the true symbol of the revolution." It's a slight reminder that some have forgotten about. "She's more important to it than I will ever be."
"Well then," my cousin replies, slightly smiling, "all the more reason to come."
"You technically have a much higher chance of dying."
"High risk, high reward, especially in the long term." Her voice lightens at the end. "I know you didn't want me to come, you'll need my help as much as I need yours from now on."
As much as I don't like it, she's right. It is always best to avoid unwanted situations before they happen but once they occur, you'll have to work with whatever and whomever you can to get out. It's the only option. And now that's she's forced me into such a position, I have to work with her.
I move quickly towards the bathroom, my hands finding its handle. Before I go in, I look back at Clara. "If you get yourself into anything, I'll do my best."
She simply nods to my statement. I continue on. "Kiera might be coming soon. Get yourself comfortable and keep your mouth shut."
The last part is something we know well but it doesn't hurt to remind someone again. In this palace, Clara is not my cousin. Mare is not my mother. Cal is not my father. Instead, I'm an orphan girl who has no parents but an extraordinary power. I have another identity.
"Who's Kiera?" Clara asks timidly. "Is she . . . the other person sharing this room with you?"
"Yes," I reply. "And don't ask me anything else. I just want some peace and quiet right now."
The door to the bathroom shuts quietly. As soon as I am guaranteed my privacy, I take a deep breath and press my back against the door. From this day forth, I have to care about Clara. It does not annoy me, but it worries me. If there is any situation where I can't protect my cousin-
I shouldn't think about the negatives. It will only make things worse.
Slowly, I walk and face myself in the mirror. It's clean and shiny but plain, lacking any sort of decoration on its frame. I like it that way. Clean objects can't hide anything. Decorative objects on the other hand, deceive people with their appearances.
That's exactly what the silver world is like. People have deceiving appearances meant to manipulate and reflect the victim as best as they can to gain something from them. It's an effective method. Listen, watch, and make a move to charm them. It makes them look different to those before. And being different is seductive to the majority of the Red population.
Seducing the population is a great feat to accomplish, I won't deny that. But there are a few who see past his lies and deceit. People part of the revolution are among those of that slim margin. Hopefully I'll be able to bring more to their senses. And in order to do that, I'll have to break Mom out somehow. And speaking of that-
I shudder, reliving that small encounter. I shouldn't be this brave, at least not in the palace. Even now, I don't know how many eyes have been drawn to me. My natural presence must be dimmed here. However much I hate Maven, I must always follow and listen instead of defy. If not for Mom's unexpected appearance, the outcome could be much worse.
In the palace, you either eat or get eaten. Power is something everyone wants. There is one person who holds too much power. There are more diverse voices. Words can be taken is more than one way. Such an environment turns people bitter. If I want to make it out alive with both Clara and Mom in the best state possible, then I'll need to endure everything.
If I don't, it will cost more than my life.
Cal POV
I don't sleep. I don't do anything at all.
Here's why: I'm not going to lose both Mare and Dahlia to my brother.
How could she not tell me and leave? It seems that she prizes the Colonel's input more than mine, even if it was me who raised her. But I can't blame the Colonel either. Even if she didn't get permission to go on a mission, she would have snuck out anyway. Knowing her well enough, it would be likely possibility.
Perhaps the same hatred she has for Maven will surpass her mother's. Mare already has a burning hatred for Maven that cannot be described with words. After everything he's done, it would be impossible to not hate him for it, at least on some degree. Still, despite his actions, I hold onto some form of mercy because he is my brother. I regret it, but that mercy might not ever leave.
Dahlia is different. She is lucky enough to have not experienced what Maven did to Mare and I on a personal level. However, even she isn't spared from the destruction he's caused. She's seen death far more than I had at her age. And it is her parentage that spurred Mare into cutting her childhood short. When Dahlia was around eight, I remember walking into her room one day while she studied. She kept a clean cloth on her desk to prepare for the sudden nosebleeds that would occur.
"You're bleeding!" I exclaim as I notice the red splatters on the once white pages of her book. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine" came by in a calm, quiet, tone, almost as if Dahlia wanted to wave me off in order to resume working. Despite her best efforts, I still noticed the trail of blood leaking from her nose and down to the paper pages.
"Don't push yourself too hard if you can't take it!"
"I need . . . to study more Dad," Dahlia replied weakly, using her sleeve to wipe away the blood dripping out of her nose. For a second, the skin underneath is clean, but it is soon replaced by a wave of fresh drops soon after.
"You can't study in a state like this-" My hand touches her forehead to check her temperature. It's above normal. "You have a fever."
"You both are doing everything to keep me safe." Her voice is quiet, barely a whisper. "If I want to continue staying safe without your help, I have to study. So, I won't allow both of you to make such a big fuss over this."
It was the last bit that almost made me lose my composure in front of her. She's was so small, so young, and yet still pushed herself above the limit for us. But for what reason other than her parentage? It was when I realized how hard we've been on her. However valid the reasons for our actions were, the consequences of giving her so much work at a young age were still present.
Despite the pressure she went through, I'm quite happy that she didn't lose her emotional self. Mare and I were able to raise her in a way that preserved the necessary qualities of being a good person and a the skills of becoming a capable one. That, I fear, might blossom into a weakness and strength. Mare is always concerned about Dahlia attracting too many eyes and making too many rivals because of her . . . natural self.
But rivals and enemies are half of the equation. Building allies with that is a good thing. In fact, building connections are vital if you want to survive someplace as poisonous as the Silver world. However, fueling one's desire and obsession might put her in a compromised position. Dahlia had that allure to her that could captivate people, however small it was. In fact, there is some part of me that is more concerned about my brother than Dahlia herself if the situation goes that far. It may not be love to him- at least not when he's kept ignorant- but another feeling. Maybe he'll be dragged into the mystery as so many are.
Obviously, he won't be the only one. Any other Silver House I know of must have grown up already. Ptolemus, Evangeline, Elane, Sonya. They must have had a family somehow. Maybe they would also get caught in it.
No matter the things my brother has done, it still pains me to see Dahlia go against him like that. Part of me wants to see him suffer on the throne that was meant for me. However, that villian is my little brother. That's Mavey. Maven is also closer to Dahlia than she expects. Maybe it was wrong of me to keep her in the dark for so long. If I had told her, would it be different? I might have raised Dahlia as if she was my own. I love Mare enough to do that. I have it in me to forgive her mistakes, no matter how big they came to be. But even I cannot replace someone original. However horrible he may be, he'll will always have something I will never.
Either way, why would I torture something so precious to her? To get back at my brother? Hurting Dahlia won't benefit me at all either way. Instead, seeing her grow and blossom only fueled my need to protect her from Maven. It wasn't only the love I had or Mare that made me protect Dahlia. It was natural feeling to protect someone so good from corruption. Besides, Dahlia was innocent from everything that has happened so far. She needed to be safe and grow up in a complete family. If I had to step up, I would. And I did.
So why couldn't I keep her away from trouble?
However necessary it was to keep the truth from Dahlia, it was something that made her blind to some dangers. It is because of this ignorance that she has the courage to travel into dangerous ground. If I had told her, we could have avoided this predicament. Yet on the other hand, it might have been traumatic if we told her the truth. To know her father was some crazy king on a throne would make her afraid of the outside world. We had no choice but to choose the former. It was . . . just better.
Despite not being her biological parent, Dahlia and I had a lot of shared memories. I guess since she thought of me as her father she and I developed a father-daughter bond of sorts. I remember when her ability first appeared. Mare was thankful it was lightning though she suspected fire instead. I remember singing her to sleep with Mare after a nightmare. Dahlia took singing up as a small interest because of those nightly songs. Sometimes she would do the same to the newbloods who were younger than her. Her voice sounded beautiful. It is the small moments we had were special.
What amazes me is that Dahlia has so many small, seemingly natural charms about her. She's intelligent, quick witted, and well read. She surpasses Mare and me in ability. My brother was handsome too. Dahlia also seems to have inherited some of that prettiness. But sometimes it comes back to haunt me. There's nothing wrong with Dahlia, but her blue eyes do remind me of Maven. They have the same pair.
"Even if she has blue eyes like that bastard, she's my daughter," Mare told me as she sat across from me. "She's mine. Maven will never touch her, I'll make sure of it. She'll bloom, uncorrupted from his influence. I'll always protect her from him, I swear on my life."
"I'm just sad that Dahlia won't have a father to guide her," I say. "Even if Maven was . . . what he turned out to be, Dahlia loses another parent. It's not . . ."
It's not healthy. My mother's face floats in the air. I never got to even meet her in person. The only way I knew how she looked like were due to the portraits drawn of her. Her personality was drawn out by my father and Uncle Julian. Even that could not fill my curiosity. Maybe it would be better if I was lied to my entire life. It would have spared me of so much heartache.
"I understand," Mare replies. "You grew up without your mother. You of all people knows how it feels. So . . ." she stops, unsure if she should continue. "So will you help me?"
Help Mare. Be Maven's replacement. Help her daughter grow up in a healthy environment. Fill the hole Maven left.
"I will," I say quietly. "I promise you. I'll do everything in my power to protect Dahlia. I'll treat her as my own, I promise."
I will never forget the smile Mare wore on that day. There were tears in between, but that was out of both happiness and sadness. I can swear on my life that I've upheld the deal with every bit of power I had. It was partly because of me that she learned how to defend herself so early with both her words and her ability. An early education was essential for her. But despite all that, there's still a hole in my heart. Dahlia calls me "Dad" because she's ignorant. Now that I see who and what she has become, I feel a little jealous. I might be Dahlia's father in her heart, but I still cannot call her mine.
The reason?
I sigh as I tell myself the truth again. Even after so many years it still hurts.
Because Dahlia is my niece.
Mare POV
I'm dreaming. At least I hope I am. Only in my dreams can Dahlia be safe in my care, in my protection, and be guided. She's so close I can feel her in my arms. I know exactly how much taller she is. she's almost Maven's height, though a slight bit shorter. I know exactly how her face looks like, down to every last detail. She looks a little more like her father than I. Still, there are traces of me that I can find. They aren't obvious, but they still are there.
In this dream, I'm watching over her younger self playing with flowers. She sings quietly to herself as she weaves the stems together. The flowers she uses are not of great quality, but are completely natural. No greeny has ever touched them. Somehow, my mind always finds a way to turn the peaceful setting into something bloody. Even though the dream ends differently most of the time, I'm never prepared to see the end. It terrifies me. I'm always afraid of seeing my daughter's dead body lying somewhere in the grass or on polished marble. It is my worst fear.
Sometimes I scream. Actually, I scream most of the time. But however scary the dream is, there are times where I'm miraculously silent when I wake up. It's happened so often I wonder if the sentinels outside my door report it. In the best case scenario, they might just think I'm going mad and keep it a secret. But it's not a likely possibility, especially when Maven it having me tailed and monitered every second I'm in here.
There are days where I'm summoned to Maven's study, his court, or somewhere by his side. And only along the way do I see younger Silver children by their parents skirts, always being watched over. Even the Red maids seem a little more content, their sole focus on finishing their chores. They don't have to worry about the possibility of execution or death. They are free in their small way.
If only my daughter was this safe.
My niece too. Clara came here knowing the risks of her actions. I bet Farley feels the same way as I do. Helpless is an understatement.
In another universe, our children would be safe. My imagination is the only thread saving me from insanity. Either way, the worry of my their safety weighs on me. I wonder if anyone notices a change in my appearance. I sleep horribly nowadays and my body is growing weaker, thinner, and more fragile as the days pass. Maybe I'll collapse to my death looking like a skeleton. But he wouldn't allow it, not on his watch at least.
"You're awake." A voice says. It's one that I know very well and one that torments me for every minute that I'm in the palace.
"Of course I am," I reply scathingly. I once thought I could keep some amount of privacy in my cell, but nothing passes by unnoticed by him. "I wonder how you've managed to stay awake this long Maven."
"Did you have a bad dream?" Maven asks quietly, switching the topic quickly. "Or was it something else?"
"What else would it be?" I reply, knowing what his answer will be. "Would I be scared of being watched by you? I'm being monitered all day."
He sighs. "I know how bad dreams feel."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that." My voice is bitter, silently cursing at fate. "How long has it been since you dreamt? Memories fade and can be tampered with. You know that better than I do."
Out of the corner of my eye, I see his jaw tick. "Some memories, feelings, don't leave as easily. You of all people should know that."
"Thank you for the reminder. I so needed it."
"My pleasure."
I turn my head and glare at him. It's the first time I've faced him this entire time. "It was supposed to be sarcastic."
He shrugs. "Taking it literally would get this reaction out of you."
I sit up quickly, startling him for a second. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, I didn't know kings were off limits to some places in their palace," Maven says laughingly. "I was the one who gave you this lodging anyway. Why can't I visit?"
"Would I want you to visit?" I snap angrily. "If you have any feeling, or at least regard for my feelings, you would visit me less. Perhaps keep an eye on those newbloods would you?"
A chill runs down my spine as I realize the consequences of my words. But I needed to say them. I have no idea on how my daughter is faring. Maven might be my only way of knowing.
"If you would like," Maven replies calmly, smiling slightly. He's been able to keep his head this entire time. "Just for the small regard I have for your well being."
I feel my face flush in the darkness, partly out of frustration. "Tell me, how are the newbloods?"
"You seem curious."
"Of course I am," I reply, matter of fact. "I was the one who brought them here. I want to know how you're treating them. I want to know whether I've brought them into a live grave or something else."
"I already told you. That depends on you. How well you behave . . . and your compliance."
I hope he doesn't see me shiver. "That's why I've done everything you've asked me to do, what more do you want?" My daughter's face appears briefly before me and a hint of panic reaches my voice. I do my best to suppress it. "Tell me!"
His smile fades a little. "I've never seen you so protective about a group of newbloods. What changed?"
"If anything goes wrong, hurt me," I reply trying to avoid a response. My fingers grab onto Maven's wrist to distract him, and hide the tremble in my voice. "If not, do something else. I have no interest in what you choose."
Maven doesn't respond immediately so I take the time to inspect him. The moonlight in the room allows me to see the bluish-grey spots underneath his eyes. He hasn't been sleeping well these past days. His hair doens't look polished but it's neat enough to pass. And his clothes are plain, made for function and flexibility. The rest of him seems thinner, whiter, and hollower.
Maven sighs quietly, bringing me back to reality. "Why are you so worried? Do you think I would really do that?"
I once thought I knew you. I once you were the second prince, unburdened with a crown that wasn't his. Content to live his life peacefully. "I didn't know you before. What makes you think I know you now?" I turn away, trying to distract myself with the moonlight pouring through the window. "You've lied once. I don't believe you won't do it again."
Once a thief, always a thief. That's how it was for me. The same can be said here, with Maven. Once a liar, always a liar. It's a habit that will never go away, even if you did your best. Part of you will always want to lie, to deceive in order to get what you want. And when there is so much at stake, it's hard to resist.
The chair he sits on scrapes against the floor. "I'll come see you another time. And I'll be sure to do it less often."
"Sure." My voice drips with every ounce of hatred I can muster. "I don't want to see you."
He smirks. "You don't want to see me, but I want to see you. Even if I have to do it less of the time I'll find a way." I spare a quick glance at him. His smile is sharp, biting, tainted as he is. "Farewell Mare Barrow. Another time. And I'll be sure to update you of any interesting occurences."
"Good news from you isn't good."
"Would you rather have none?"
My hand clenches into a fist underneath the blanket. "Get out."
Maven's smile doesn't fade as he watches me. Instead it grows. Not long after, he walks out of the room, his shadow trailing behind him. The sentinels close the door quietly after him. After I'm sure he's gone, I let some of my tears fall. Not too many. If I let out too many I don't know if I'll be able to stop. I have to be strong, not only for me, but for Dahlia, Clara, and everyone else waiting.
"Please be safe," I whisper quietly, repeating the phrase over and over again like a mantra. "Please be safe."
They have to stay safe.
A/N: Firstly, let me apologize to all of you for not updating as frequently as we both might have hoped. And to be honest, all of you need an explanation on why I haven't been updating AT ALL for the past few months. It's only fair.
I recently got back into a game called League of Legends which I stopped playing around a year ago. I picked it back up again a few months ago around April. And instead of playing which only focused on Co-op vs. AI, I actually started PVP which was HUGE considering I, you know, only did bots before. I finally reached Mastery 5 for Ahri, Mastery 6 for Lux (which I got about a year ago at time of writing, July 23rd, 2021), and Mastery 4 for Sona, my three mains. If you are curious, I am a mid main and a support main but mostly support main.)
But recently, my parents forced me to stop playing and to be honest, it feels hollow not having a game all of a sudden. I really like League of Legends even though I know parts of the community can be toxic. However, I met a lot of nice people on the server, many of whom I'm good friends with today. I was also really looking forward to finishing the Sentinels of Light event that's currently happening (at time of writing). Sadly, I wouldn't be able to do it by myself and thankfully I got some help from a friend who finished the story for me. To that person, all I can say is thank you for doing so. I'm also thankful that you didn't get mad at me for obsessing over Viego all the time although he reminds me of a certain someone in Red Queen ^^
As I'm writing, I'll admit, I am very sad that I'll have to postpone my League of Legends days T^T. But I might get a League reference on the story because it just might make me feel a little better so please bear with me ^^
. . .
So, what if my characters could play League? What roles would they take?
Dahlia - Can play virtually any role, but her best are Mid and ADC
Mains: Ahri (best), LeBlanc, Katarina, Gwen, Kalista, Jhin
Mid lane is important because it is the shortest pathway from the enemy Nexus to yours. Most mid laners are also very "squishy" compare to top laners since the fights are shorter. Although top lane is also a 1v1 lane, the top lane is still longer and it takes two minion waves to get to the opp. turret whereas you only need one wave to get to the mid opp. turret.
Dahlia would be really well rounded when playing champions. She's really good at ARAM (All Random All Mid) because she knows the champion's spells (she would watch a lot of the champion spotlights) and their basic combos. But if I were to pick some champions, I would pick Ahri, LeBlanc, and Gwen for mid, and Kalista for ADC. Let me explain.
You might be thinking, "well, the author also mains Ahri!" You're right, but Ahri is also a beginner champion. If you've ever done the tutorial, you would know that there are five champions to start out with: Ahri, Lux, Miss Fortune, Darius, and Master Yi. (Fun fact: each champion takes over a role in the game. Ahri = mid, Lux = support, Miss Fortune = ADC, Darius = top, Master Yi = jungler.) If Dahlia really did play League in real life, she would probably pick up Ahri in the tutorial and stick with her because Ahri is a really really solid champion choice. You don't see her in high elo, but she's really balanced.
Secondly, Dahlia would also do LeBlanc. Now, LeBlanc is a very difficult champion to play in the sense that her spells can be a little confusing to grasp. When I got her in ARAM, I sorta understood her and how to do her basic combos (because I watched Faker play her and guessed after reading the spell description). Dahlia would also pick LeBlanc up after playing her in ARAM and think "Wow, she's a confusing champion, but she's really cool to play" (which she is by the way). She would also view LeBlanc as a challenge as LeBlanc is on the three tier difficulty level.
Katarina? Well, here's a hint: they share a trait of being really good assassins.
Gwen is also a good choice for mid lane. One tip is that her early game is really strong, especially if she starts with E (Skip n' Slash). She is a little item based, but scales very well into the late game. Her W (Hallowed Mist) is a really good defensive spell (that makes her very OP, people don't like it but oh well). Additionally, her interactions with other Shadow Isles champs appeal to Dahlia a little bit. For example, this is what Gwen says when she encounters Thresh:
"Chains, lantern? I've heard of you. And I'm going to stop you!"
When she kills Thresh:
"Get up Thresh. I need answers."
And when she encounters Viego:
"Viego. She hasn't forgotten you. And I haven't forgiven you."
And when she encounters a Shadow Isle champion:
"You've suffered. I'm sorry. But I won't let you make more victims."
You just need to read League lore to understand ^^
Kalista is also a challenge Dahlia would take up. The thing is, most Kalista mains are either really bad or they're masters. The difficulty is also one reason why most people don't play her. Trust me, just watch SKT Teddy play Kalista. She's strong in so many ways and I think Teddy brings her strengths out really well in his play style. Kalista also pairs up really well with engage supports like Leona. She can even work with Thresh.
Although I haven't shown it yet, Dahlia values quickness and agility rather than being really strong and slow (which basically represents the juggernaut subclass in League which are people like Darius, Illaoi, Mordekaiser etc.) The problem is, that type of fighting style isn't something good against the tank subclass since they can shrug off the initial burst of damage. Dahlia also lacks in fighting bulkier opponents. However, she can kite them out if needed and poke. It's a slow process and quite a risky one in a real fight.
And lastly, Jhin. If she doen't have an engage support that's okay. Catchers like Lux can work well with Jhin ADC, especially with his root. Secondly, I can't tell you how perfect Riot made Jhin. In fact, he's known as League's most perfect champion. No other champion has ever gotten close to how polished and balanced he is which is a huge thing because you want champions to be balanced (not OP essentially). He's . . . perfect . . . and he has a huge obession with the number four.
Here are the rest of her champions for each lane but I won't add an explanation T^T:
Top - Irelia, Gwen
Jungle - Gwen, Evelynn
Support - Usually does Morgana but since Morgana gets banned a lot, she would do any other support such as Soraka, Pyke, Senna, or Lulu (just ANY support) usually depending on team composition on your team, the enemy team, and the ADC.
Another fun fact: Senna would be Mare's main and Lucian would be Cal's main. Just read their lore please ;)
Bottom (ADC) - Xayah. Please read lore. I love her feathers by the way. After all, they are purple. ^^
Kiera - Support, Top
Mains: Lux (best), Leona, Teemo, Kayle,
If you haven't realized- you might later on- Lux and Kiera will share many similarities. I kinda based Kiera off of Lux so you'll probably see some shared characteristics over the story. Thanks Riot Games!
But Lux is a really safe pick for support. She scales well, dishes out a lot of damage for a support, and scales MASSIVELY. She's also a beginner champion given to you in the tutorial and one that Kiera would stick with. If you ever get autofilled support, pick Lux . . . if she doesn't get banned or taken in draft pick. Lux is very popular and disliked among the community so take that into account.
Leona is an engage support but Kiera would only take her for two reasons. Dahlia is going Kalista or Lux got taken/banned. Kiera can do basic stuff with Leona, but it's not her one trick champion. Kiera prefers catchers like Lux and Morgana, as well as enchanters such as Janna and Lulu :)
Teemo is . . . annoying. I won't flame him because my friend mains the little yordle, but I'll tell you his mushrooms are the worst to deal with. Pair it with Liandry's Anguish and he can chunk you down to half health after basing.
Kayle is part of the specialist class (champions that don't fit in any mold, for example Ahri is a burst mage, Jhin is a marksman etc.) and therefore has a playstyle unique to her kit. Specialists have very . . . unconventional builds as you can build both AD and AP while also maintaining a certain degree of playability. For example, crit Ahri is not meta whereas crit Teemo (Teemo belongs to the specialist class) is or could be (most Teemo mains build Liandry's which is AP/magic damage). AP and AD work well for Kayle. Although her early game is very weak, she is actually a really strong champion choice if the game goes into late stage. There are so many memes about Kayle reaching level 16 that make me laugh . . . check them out!
Allison - ADC, Jungle
Mains: Ashe (best), Nidalee, Kindred
Ashe is one of those "easier" ADC's to learn. In fact, when League first came out, one of my friend's said that Ashe was the only champ you could start with. Ashe is also very powerful with her Hawkshot which provides vision (and has a 60 second cooldown) making the "fog of war" less of an issue. Technically Ashe has infinite "wards" because of her Hawkshot spell. Additionally, Ashe is really scary to go up against it once she gets her mythic item. No- scrap that- once she gets Vampiric Scepter she just needs to farm the minion wave to get back to full health again. (BUILD GRIEVOUS EVERYONE!)
Nidalee on the other hand, can one shot people during late game with her Q (her spear which is her main poke damage). I've seen people who've played Nidalee just one shot people under tower because she has such a long range with her Q. It's all about precision. I've played Nidalee a couple times in ARAM and I'll tell you, it's funny watching people die after getting one spear on them. Nidalee also has good engage and her ultimate which allows her to change from cougar form to human form also provides a lot of versatility. It is similar to the champion Elise. People say that Elise is more forgiving but the playstyle is similar so it's easier to transfer from Elise to Nidalee.
Kindred is a hard jungler to play. She was the first every champion Riot Games made who was both a jungler and marksman. A lot of people just say that Kindred is an ADC, but I think she's completely fine as a jungler too. The only problem is she's hard to play and hasn't had a good play rate in such a long time. But if you do pick her up, she is very rewarding to master. In fact, she's the first jungler I ever played in PVP but I HATE getting auto-filled so I die quite a lot. However, I have gotten an S (highest grade level, better than A) with her in ARAM and she is really fun to play:)
Clara - Top, Mid
Mains: Riven, Katarina (best)
Ok well, Riven is really OP. Most people regard her as a "broken" champion which are basically the champions with no counterplay. However, I've done Top Ahri against her and she's not that annoying to deal with. Maybe it's because I haven't played enough with them, but I think Pantheon is more annoying.
I've already explained Katarina with one sentence but I'll expand on here. So, her E (Q, W, E, R are the keys you use to cast spells in League) basically allows Katarina to blink to an ally or enemy. Now, this is similar to Clara since she and Katarina have the same "teleportation" skill. And mid laners can be played at top (I've done top Ahri before) so Katarina top is a viable option. Heck, even a support like Karma can do top. But Katarina is also a very mobile assassin who relies on roams a lot of the time so if you're thinking of maining her, keep that in mind and play her in mid if you can. (Roams are easier for mid laners since they are equidistant from the other two lanes. You could teleport in, but then you don't have a TP advantage since teleport has a long AF cooldown and it's a really summoner spell that you want to have when objectvies like Baron and Dragon are up since you can reduce commute time.)
Evgeny - Can play most roles, but is a hardcore support main :)
Mains: Yuumi (best . . . O_O), and Rakan (O_O), Pyke, Kha'zix, Zed
Support Yuumi on the way. She's such an annoying support to go up against. The thing is, people HATE her because she literally has no weaknesses as an enchanter support because she's untargetable with her passive. Literally, pair her up with a fed carry and they can 1v9 the team. I won't go into it, but one thing is for sure: Yuumi is a ban I support :)
If Yuumi gets banned . . . Evgeny plays Rakan. Rakan also pairs up really well with Xayah (they are apparently lovers in the lore) who is Dahlia's other ADC main. Both receive buffs when the other is nearby. For example, their second passive Lover's leap allows them to recall to base together which can save a lot of time. Secondly, Rakan also receives Xayah's W, Deadly Plumage if they are close enough. In other words, they were made to be played together. Even after receiving nerfs, they still have a strong bot lane presence. If played right, they make a viable ADC and Support pairing. I've seen such good montages of the two so please believe me ^^
Pyke . . . Pentakills are worth a lot of gold if he executes you . . . I'm about to go back to the dark ages when I first faced Pyke in PVP T^T. Just go watch the montages . . .
But he gets banned a lot so meh.
If he's get autofilled jungle, Evgeny also does Kha'Zix. Junglers have the highest carrying potential if they are ahead which make them a really popular position to play in high elo. Unfortunately, in low elo, getting autofilled jungle is quite common. I don't want to revisit the games where I got autofilled jungle and did Ahri T^T.
Kha'zix has a very strong early game presence making him a very popular jungle main. I'm actually scared of that assassin because he can one-shot you late game. The worst thing is, you think you're safe under turret, and then Kha just leaps out of nowhere and turret dives you. If you don't have Oracle Lens as a trinket, I suggest you get it to destroy wards and keep yourself safe. Kha'zix can become invisible and Oracle Lens can detect him through movement if he's within radius.
And lastly, Zed. Evgeny will go top or mid as Zed. I don't want to explain this champion AT ALL because I absolutely HATE going up against a good Zed player (he counters Ahri and LeBlanc which are both my mains as well as some of Dahlia's mains T^T). But if you search up "Faker Zed outplay" on YouTube, the clip should be enough to explain what I mean.
