James felt urgency within him as he peered down at the blood sample data collected from the alleyway.

It closely resembled the same blood type of someone long deceased.

"This doesn't make any sense.."

James double checked the blood sample.

One of the samples tested was definitely Deadpools, the other seemed to be the bloody boss left in the alley but the last one however, seemed to keep bringing up an old test sample done none other than in this very room ten years ago.

War Machine could still remember nine year old Peter giggling as he placed an Ironman band-aid on his arm.

"James looks! Daddy!"

James smiled at the memory as a hardness replaced the soft thought.

"The DNA tester might be trying to find the closest match." James rationalized as he placed the test down.

The soft swoosh of the door made James turn to meet Bruce Banner ruffling his disheveled hair.

"Hey big green, sleep alright?"

"Ya,ya just have a neck ache."

"Probably from being slumped on your table. Hey, could you take a look at this?"

Banner adjusted his glasses as he picked up the test.

"What the-"

"Ya thats what I thought."

"What could have caused this error?"

Banner slipped the paper onto the counter as he turned towards the machine.

"Hmm this might take a while, could you get me some coffee?"

James hummed in agreement as he made his way towards the labs lounge.
Pressing a few keys the coffee maker sputtered to life.

"wanna pour me one?"

For the second time today James jumped as Natasha leaned onto the counter.

Planting his hand on his chest James bent forward.

"Please, stop doing that!"

"Well, since you asked nicely..."

Natasha smirked as she stole one of the mugs.

"So, how'd it go?"

James examined Black widow who seemed to favor one leg over the other and a few bruises littered her face. What stuck out the most was the singed body suit she wore.

"Bad I take it?"

Widow nodded as she limped over to the table and chairs.

"Deadpool was there."

"Did he do this to you?" James demanded as he punctuated it with his mug. The content sloshed over the rim burning his hand.

"No he didn't, he was acting like he couldn't even hear or see us. He seemed to be distraught."

Natasha watched for a silent moment as James patched up his burn under the faucet.

"Steve tried to ask him but he ran off."

James hummed in thought as he turned off the water. Natasha picked up another mug to put under the machine for him.

"James, is the coffee machine broken to-Oh Natasha!"

Bruce faltered as he brushed a hand through his hair.

James gave Bruce a knowing look as he rubbed his hand.

"Hey you know, I might have to put some burn cream on my hand. That coffee was volcanic. I think Tony has some upstairs…"

With that James placed Bruce's coffee on the table in front of Natasha.

"Ah wai-I I mean I am a medical pro-"

James waved him off as he rushed out of the room.

Bruce could sometimes be the smartest dumbest person he knew especially when it came to something other than science. James found it ironic seeing as basic biology fell into that category.

Walking down the hall made James mind wander back to the child smiling up at him with an Ironman band-aid.

"Oh? Is that Daddy?"

"Ya!"

Peter peered down at the band-aid as his brow knitted in frustration.

"What's wrong little guy?"

"Why don't you have one? Papa has one and Daddy has one."

It took James a few minutes to understand Peter.

"I'm just not that cool bud."

Peter's eyes widened as he grabbed onto James hand.

"Uncle James is the coolest!" Peter said insistently "Just as cool as Daddy and Papa!"

James shook his head as he stared down at his personal first aid box in his closet. Opening the creaky old box James stared down at the box of bandages on the top layer. Little did James know that Peter was not satisfied finding out one of his favorite uncles didn't have his own merchandise. Tony really did know people in high places. James rubbed his thumb over the cover as he read the lettering. Band-Aid Avenger War Machine!
