Chapter 22: Don't Mess With the Angel
Midoriya's POV
"I AM HERE!" All Might's booming voice echoed outside our classroom. I smiled and just waited for him.
'Oh boy.' I covered my ears and whistled to Jiro. She looks at me and I told her she might wanna cover her ears.
"COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!" All Might bellowed as he entered our classroom dramatically. Immediately everyone aside from Todoroki, Tokoyami and Koda the sweetest baby of the classroom. Anyone who dares bully that boy physically or verbally will be hunted by the entire class.
"Whoa it's All Might!" Kirishima yells excitedly.
"Is he actually a teacher here?" Kaminari asks.
"He has to be right? All Might sir, are you a teacher here?!" Mina asks him, prompting to laugh heartily and tell her,
"Yes I am Ashido-san, I will be your teacher in Foundational Heroics Studies. Now! For our first lesson, we will be doing this! " He then pulled out a small card that read 'Battle Trial', making me and Kacchan excited. He then remote and pressing a button on it, the parts of the walls starts opening up, revealing briefcases with numbers on them.
"Each of them contains the costume you will all be wearing and the numbers indicate your seating arrangements from left to right. Now go get your costumes and get to changing then meet me at Ground Beta. All Might, AWAY!" All Might then zoomed out of there and everyone grabbed their cases then raced into the changing rooms. I just calmly got mine and went into the changing room where everyone is changing. I took off my uniform and folded them neatly into my locker. The sheath of my machete was still strapped on to my right leg before I took it off as well and placed them above my uniform. I opened my case and all I saw was absolute gold. On the very top of my costume sits a skull mask. A pure, steel skull mask. I gently grabbed it and inspected it before breaking out a grin.
"Oh hell yeah." I set it down on the upper shelf of my locker before pulling out a black t-shirt with a somewhat thick bulletproof Kevlar stitched on the inside of the t-shirt. I put that on before pulling out the pants then putting it on as well. Then I pulled out…what the hell…? I pulled out the purple-ish gauntlets. I put those next to the mask then I pulled out the jacket. It's clearly tactical based on its design. It's black, got 4 straps above the zipper coming from just below the collar down to near the waist, got a hook on the back, light elbow pads, zippered pockets on both upper arms, has a chest and side pocket on the left side of the torso and I think these are shotgun shell bandoliers on the right side, got 4 pockets and 4 rows going down with the last row just below the 2nd strap. I put that on then I pulled out what looks like merino wool socks, nice. Then I pulled out the boots which boots that were obviously a modified ATAC because one, outside the toe box and rand, a black metallic plate is covering the front of the toe box and rand and two, it also has two well hidden pocket knife holsters on each side of the upper.
'I get the feeling Mei made this.' I put them on next then put the gauntlets on. The gauntlets immediately lit up before I noticed a paper on my left elbow that's blocking the light. On the paper, all it said was '25973' before I took it off…
"What…?" I tapped the center of the small computer device on my forearm and the metal slid open, lighting up a holographic keyboard then I looked at the LED light on my elbow, also lighting up 5 boxes. The keyboard is similar to that of a phone's so I tapped the '?123' box on the bottom left and the alphabets turned into numbers and symbols then I tapped in the numbers from the paper. As I did so, I heard whirring in the gauntlets and the metal squares on my fingers suddenly tighten up to the point they're nearly connected to the gloves with only a millimeter distance.
"Damn dude, that looks sick." Sero said and I looked at him momentarily, only for the rest of the guys to take notice.
"Whoa." Said Kirishima.
"That looks actually awesome." Kaminari said in awe. I then diverted my attention back to my gauntlet as I looked at my elbow with a display asking if I should connect it to my phone and on my forearm shows the Yes or No option. I tapped yes and immediately heard my phone vibrate in my locker. I grabbed it and turned it on only to get a message saying that it's connected to Hatsume Industries K84 gauntlets. I sighed before turning it off and pocketing my phone.
"Is that actually connected to your phone Deku?" Kacchan asked and I nodded.
"Apparently so my friend." I took the sheath of my machete with my actual machete in it and strapped it on to the left side of my hip.
"Alright boys, I believe we're all done changing. We can discuss the gauntlets later after our exercise with All Might. Now, let's make haste, All Might is waiting for us." Iida announced to us. Before I knew it, Mineta the little bastard called us over to check out a hole that was connected to the girl's changing rooms. I closed the computer device on my forearm by tapping the option exit and the holographic shit turns off and the metal slid back, closing it before I put on the mask then went to Mineta.
"Oh hey Midoriya, cool mask dude. You should che-" Without a word, I slammed his face on the concrete, embedding it there and making him stuck but didn't go through the wall. I turned to Todoroki and asked,
"Mind plugging up that hole?" He nodded before I walked past Iida and out of the door and began walking to the tunnel that leads to Ground Beta.
'Serves that little shit.' As I walk out of the tunnel, I can hear running behind me as the others start rushing. I looked at All Might and nodded at him. He gave his signature laugh and nods back.
"My Young Midoriya, that's quite an intimidating costume. Do you plan on going underground?" He asks and I nod. Soon enough, the rest of the class gets here and All Might asks if that's everyone.
"Mineta's costume has a problem concerning the waist part of it, he's trying to fix it back in the changing room sensei." I said nonchalantly while pulling out my phone and giving Nedzu Mineta's personal info file before pocketing it again.
"Hmm, very well. Today's exercise is what I showed you all in the classroom earlier and it is called Battle Trial! The purpose of this exercise is to see how you plan, how you act towards the enemy and how you execute your plan as well as your skills in combat. So, any questions?" All Might asks after explaining. Everyone then decided to ask all at once, not giving All Might any chance to say something till he claps which sent a light shockwave around us.
"Enough! My quirk is super strength, not super hearing. I'll answer one at a time. Iida." He points at Iida.
"What is our objective for today's exercise sensei?" He asks. All Might then pulled out a clipboard and took a glance at it before announcing.
"Heroes Vs Villains! Essentially I will group you all by pair with two people being heroes and two being villains, however, since Mineta isn't here yet, one of has to go solo. Any volunteers?" He asks and I raised my hand.
"Midoriya-kun, are you sure?" All Might asks and I nod.
"Yeah, 2v1 sounds fun, plus it would give me ideas on how to deal with multiple people in case for example, I get ambushed or surrounded and I had to deal with them with no backup." I replied. It really wouldn't give me any ideas on how to deal with multiple enemies considering I go through them like a hot knife through butter, but it's gonna be interesting how whoever I'm fighting will fare against me.
"Very well! Now- OH, sorry, I forgot to say this. Battle Trial will occur indoors and before anyone asks, it is because most crimes are committed indoors whilst the ones you see outside are usually cleanups. Incarceration, house arrests, black markets and other sorts are normally lurking within the darkness. So for this training, we'll have the "villains" guard a bomb that they plan on detonating. The bomb has a timer and the "heroes" must find a way to get to the bomb. Now, there are two ways the villains and/or the heroes can win. One, the heroes can capture the villains via capture tape or the villains can knock them out and two, the heroes touch the bomb or the timer runs out and when it does, the villains win. As for the pairings, we will be doing it by…LOTTERY!" All Might then pulls out a box with a hole on top.
"Before anyone asks why, it's because heroes often don't get a choice on who they choose to partner up with during battles so they have to team up with whoever hero is there. Now reach in and grab a letter! If someone has the same letter as you, they're your partner!" We all came forward and grabbed a ball with a letter.
'Huh, J.' Once everyone has got their letters and linked up with their partners, All Might in between two boxes that are labeled HEROES and VILLAINS.
"Now then, the first two pairs to battle will be…!" He then stuck each hand on each box and pulled out two balls with letters then read them aloud and showed them to us.
"Team D will be villains and Team J will be the heroes!" I instantly looked at Kacchan and Iida as they looked at me.
"Good luck Kacchan." He smirks back and says,
"Luck? Don't need it nerd." I chuckled and told him that he might.
"Alright, everyone else head to the viewing room. Team D, here's the map of the building and where the bomb is as well as communication devices. You can move the bomb at any floor at any place as long as it's in the building so I suggest you memorize the floors and rooms. Midoriya, here's your device as well and you will stay out here and do the same, memorize the map of the floors and rooms of the building out here and make a plan. Team D, please enter the building. You guys have 5 minutes to prepare and plan and the 5 minutes start, NOW!" With that, All Might zoomed away and the pair goes inside the building. I just sat on the ground and began fiddling with my gauntlet.
"Okay, let's see what you can do." I tapped the center of the metal lid and it opened again. Instead of presenting a keyboard, it showed 5 boxes. Scan, Map, Call, Taser and Heat Up. I tapped Scan and both the lights on my elbows began scanning me and the environment as far as 10 to 15 meters. It took about 5 seconds of scanning before the layout of the entire area around me is showing on my elbow. I double tapped on the building and can see 3 dots. I'm guessing the moving bright orange dots are Iida and Kacchan and that grey dot is the bomb.
'5th floor eh?' I double tapped the building to zoom out and tapped the Exit option on the bottom right. I tapped Exit on my forearm again and the thing closes. I pulled out the phone and checked the time and saw I have 2 minutes left. I sighed before pocketing it, pulling up my mask then pulling out a cigarette box with a lighter but the thing is, I don't have cigarettes, I have my medical weed blunts in here and some regular weed blunts. I pulled one of the regular ones, put it on my mouth and lit it up then taking a drag and exhaling out through my mouth. I pocketed the box and continued smoking the blunt till the time passes.
"Young Midoriya, I advise you to stop smoking." All Might said through the earpiece he gave us.
"It's fine, I got a pass from Nedzu. It helps me relax, besides, it's go time." As I said that, an alarm sounded off, signifying the start of the training. I took a long and powerful drag where the joint was nearly gone before taking it out and crushing it in my hands as I exhale. I pulled my mask back down on my face and entered the building.
"Showtime."
