Prologue: Ice Cream Magic

It all began in China.

There was news that a baby that gave off light was born.

Ever since then, superpowers were discovered in various places, and time passed without the cause being identified.

Before we knew it, the supernatural world became normal and dreams became reality.

The world has become a superhuman society and about 80% of the world's population now has some kind of special trait.

In this world swirling with chaos, the profession that everyone once dreamed about and admired came into the limelight.

That profession is...

Heroes.

An unknown amount of years later.

"Mommy, it's so hot" a young child whined. "Can't we buy some ice cream? Pretty please?"

A middle-aged woman with blonde hair and blue eyes glanced at the ice cream truck they had just passed and back down at her daughter. "Tsu-chan, I already told you I didn't bring my wallet today", she sighed. This was about the 6th time her daughter had asked and she was getting cranky with the unbearable heat.

The young girl pouted as she was rejected yet again. 'It's so hot tho... I can feel my face melting off!' She thought to herself, sulking. 'I really wish I had some ice cream right now...' No sooner had that thought solidified in her mind before she found her hands full of a deliciously cool, sugary treat. Light blue eyes blinked. The ice cream did not disappear. A second blink was the last sign of hesitation before she instantly began to devour the cone.

Surprised, yet relieved, by her daughter's silence, the mother took another glance down to her child only to do a double-take at the appearance of the dessert. "Tsukiko!"

Innocent blue eyes stared up at her, "yes mommy?"

Calming herself, Sasaki Mayumi questioned her daughter, "Where did you get that, Tsukiko? Mommy told you taking things without asking is wrong. I know it's hot but that does not make stealing ok."

The young girl made an affronted noise. "But mommy! I didn't steal it! It just appeared!" She defended herself. The mother cast disbelieving eyes at her 4 year-old daughter, wondering why she would come up with such an unbelievable lie. If she needed an excuse, at least try to make it realistic.

Hardening her gaze, she spoke sternly, "Tsukiko, I know that the ice cream didn't appear out of nowhere. Now come with me, we're going to go apologize to the ice cream vendor right now." She grabbed her daughter by her unoccupied hand and began leading her back the way they came. She had no idea how her daughter had managed to steal the treat without her noticing, but she would not let her be seen as some type of thief. Surely childish antics could be excused, couldn't they?

Feeling some resistance, she was, once again, forced to look at her daughter. The child's blue eyes glared into her own identical ones. "Mommy! I'm not lying! It really appeared, watch!" And the mother stood there in shock as she watched her daughter wrench her hand free and conjure up another sugary confection in her now-free hand. Appearing satisfied, the young child smiled at her mother before continuing to enjoy the delectable treats.

Shocked into silence, the mother took a moment to think about the situation. If her eyes hadn't lied to her then... could it be that her daughter finally...?

Mayumi's surprised expression suddenly morphed into a smile. "Tsukiko."

Hearing her name, the child's attention was once again placed on her mother. "Yes mommy? You believe me, right? It just appeared like magic!" She exclaimed. The mother smiled.

"Of course, sweetie. I'm sorry I doubted you before," she amended. "Actually, I think you just got something a lot cooler than ice cream."

Excitement passed over the girl's face, "Really? What is it?" She questioned, giddily.

An excited look was shared between the mother-daughter duo. "Tsu-chan, I think you just discovered your quirk."

A/N: Hello everyone! Frostfire here! I'm super excited to write my first BNHA story ever! (and my first published story haha) I've been watching the anime and I absolutely love all of the characters! The story is based on my OC Sasaki Tsukiko and her adventure to heroism! Are there any guesses as to what her quirk is, yet? I've already mapped out a good portion of the story so I hope you'll look forward to future chapters! I'd also like to add a bit more filler chapters to dig deeper into the bond between the students and really understand the complex feelings they experience while training to be heroes, so please feel free to comment or DM me any fun chapter ideas!
