"Good morning!" Kelly joined Dylan in the kitchen to make her morning coffee. Dylan didn't greet her. Instead he buried his head further into the newspaper he was reading.
"Dylan." She said firmly once she joined him at the table.
"Make the appointment, Kel." He said not looking up
"Fine. If it means that much to you." She rolled her eyes
"Yes. It does." He warned. "You barely ate anything yesterday. You come home and go straight to bed without so much as a word."
"Because you were so frustrating!" She snapped, "Going on and on about support groups... Dylan, I swear there are no diet pills in this house, tip all drawers if you want to... It's just a flu."
"Well, then you won't mind if I hear that from the doctor." He sneered, grabbing his jacket and heading out.
"Hey, Kelly! What are you doing here?" Donna asked as she opened her front door
"Sorry, I wasn't ready to go home yet." Kelly rubbed her eyes
"Don't worry about it. Come in." Donna pleaded.
"I went to the doctor." Kelly said once she sat on the couch
"And?" Donna asked, but Kelly was silent. "Kelly, what is it?" She asked soothingly as Kelly began to sob.
"...I'm pregnant." Kelly cried
"Oh Kelly!" Donna hugged her, "That's good."
"I don't know..." She wiped her tears. "Last time..."
"I know." Donna consoled her, "But they weren't sure this would happen again for you. This is a miracle... You have to tell Dylan."
"I don't think I can do it again."
"Where've you been?" Dylan asked once Kelly got home, "I tried calling you."
"I was at Donna's." She sighed, slumping herself onto the couch
"Thanks for telling me." Dylan shook his head
"Why are you in a mood?" She said, exasperated.
"I was worried, Kel." He growled, "This is serious. I didn't do much last time... But this time... " He let out a deep breath, "This time I'll make sure you don't end up in hospital." Kelly groaned as he went on and on, pacing around the living room "I'll go to every support group meeting-"
"-Are you done?" She interrupted
"Kel..." He shook his head, "Listen to me."
"No, you listen first." She warned and he finally turned to face her.
"What?" He said tiredly
"I'm pregnant." She divulged
Dylan stood there, trying to process what he had just heard. He breathed out as he looked into her eyes. He began to rub his forehead
Kelly folded her arms, she couldn't help but allow fear to creep up the longer he was silent. "I guess this is a better reaction than last time." she scoffed
"I'm sorry, Kel." He walked over to her and kissed her forehead. "I just gotta get some air."
He headed into his car and drove off.
"He's still not back?" Donna asked on the phone with Kelly
"Nope." Kelly sighed, laying in bed
"I'll try to reach him." She reasoned
"Don't bother." Kelly scoffed, "I should've known he'd react this way. I guess it was just wishful thinking that things would be easier this time around."
"Kelly... it's a lot for him too you know. He's entitled to a freak out."
"I guess... It just brings back so many memories that I don't want to relive."
"I know."
"Kel..." Dylan whispered, waking her up, "Kel, wake up."
"What?" Kelly's grouchy voice moaned as she sat upright. He put on the lampshade beside the bed. "Dylan, I don't want to do this right now."
"Kel, just listen." He urged
"No." She snapped, "I can't take this. I buried one baby, alone. If I'm gonna be alone for another one, I'd rather know now."
"Kel..." He pleaded, "I'm sorry... I needed some air but I'm not going anywhere."
She paused, looking up at him.
"Look." He insisted, "Check it out!" He whispered excitedly and pulled up a baby vest with I heart Beverly Hills written on it.
"Dylan, what are you doing?" She asked
"I was driving around and I panicked. We lost the first one and I didn't know if I was strong enough to do this. But then I saw that." He pointed to the vest, " And I remembered I was gonna be there for you back then even if it wasn't mine. And yeah, maybe we're gonna be a little scared and maybe it's risky. But, good things are always a risk, right? And we know more this time, and we're together. We can face it together. And it's like I said that first night at paradise cove. I was surviving until you came along and made me feel alive. And now, we're living. So... we'll be scared together."
Kelly couldn't help but smile at his newfound strength and optimism. It was especially endearing on him.
"I am scared."
"I know."
"You running out did trigger a lot of issues for me." She sighed
"Sorry babe... I - I was just surprised at how it all happened."
"Really? That's the part you're good at." She teased,
"Very funny." He grabbed her chin and pulled her in for a soft kiss. After a series of playful kisses, Kelly couldn't help it. She needed reassurance.
"I gotta ask..." She began, "Did it make you want to run?"
Dylan paused and gazed into her eyes, "Honestly? I wasn't worried about me... I was worried you'd push me away, thought it would remind you too much of what happened in the past."
"I didn't want you to go..." She spoke softly
"I won't. We're connected, remember? For life." He smirked
"I can live with that." She grinned and leaned up to kiss him again.
"Wait a minute. Is this? Is this us... communicating like adults?" He joked
"Well... we got 9 months to test it out." She chuckled as he pulled her into his arms.
