Heya peeps, this is just gonna be a short little story. I have lots of somewhat interesting information about wilderness survival knocking around in my head (I blame eight years of camp). So I thought why not compile it into a story? All of the camo and stealth tips in here will be things I've learned from my mentors and instructors. Hope ya like it.

What Robin Knows About Camping and Stealth CH 1
Dick was smiling. Batman had told him the previous night that his team was going to be sent on a camping trip, where they'd learn about stealth, tracking and wilderness survival. He was excited, Batman wanted him to help teach the team everything he knew.
So Robin walked into the cave in a happy mood. That is, until he walked into an argument between Wally and Black Canary.
"Whaddya mean we can't pack any food?" Wally whined. "I need food!"
"We're packing food, just not everything you want to pack." Black Canary said calmly. She was helping most of the team pack up some boxes, Robin knew that they were full of cooking materials, tents and sleeping bags. There was probably some firewood and tarps in there too.
Wally spotted Robin and sped over to him, eyes pleading. "Back me up Rob."
Dick smiled and decided to tease his friend. "I'm sure Batman has calculated the exact amount of calories you need to eat to survive this camping trip, calm down." He started walking towards Black Canary. "If he catches you complaining he might just not bring any food, we'll have to hunt a deer or something."
Wally stared at him. "He wouldn't do that! Would he?"
Dick just shrugged and grinned. He looked down at the collected boxes, going over the supplies, checking things off the "rational things to take camping" list in his head. Black Canary and Batman had picked out all the necessary equipment, plus some extra things, from the mountain's storage. All things considered this trip would be more luxurious than most of the trips he took with Batman.
M'Gann was helping Connor pack some of the heavier boxes into the bioship, while Artemis was organizing the tents and Kaldur looked over some maps. As Dick surveyed his team, he felt excitement build up in him. He loved camping, it reminded him of the many places his family had stayed while on the road with the circus. They didn't have a whole ton of time to say, take a vacation, but during the summers the caravan would stop in fields and his mother and father would lay down a blanket in the grass, and they'd sleep under the stars. It made him feel good to be outside, among tall trees and where the wind could blow uninterrupted.
Soon, with Dick's and finally Wally's help, they got everything packed up into the bioship. Batman came swooping into the cave, and he waited to address them. The team gathered outside of the packed ship and waited for their instructions.
"I am sending you on a camping trip." Batman growled. "This trip is for learning and team bonding, Black Canary will be in charge, you will listen to her. It should last for a couple of days, if anyone needs to come home, the whole team will return. Robin and Black Canary will be teaching you about rural stealth, pay attention, this information may come in handy someday. You are dismissed." He turned to leave.
Black Canary coughed and sent him a glare, Batman huffed. "Good luck and… have fun." He growled and turned around again, heading back into the Zeta beam portal.
Black Canary turned to the team. "Well? Let's get going, we're heading for California." They all entered the bio ship, M'Gann was piloting, and Black canary sat next to her, map in hand. Kaldur, Connor, Wally, Artemis and Robin all took their seats and watched out the windows as the ship swooped out of the cave. They got ready for a couple hours of flying. Robin sat by the window, smiling, he was sooo looking forward to this trip.
AN:
Heh, I'm going to give away what state I live in because I wanna explain why they're crossing the US. I live in Cali, and that's where my knowledge comes from, the flora and fauna are different on the East Coast. (Happy Harbor is apparently in Rhode Island). So, yeah, that's why they're going to California. It only takes em a couple hours cause I wanted them to, plus the bio ship's probably faster than most planes, and it doesn't have to abide by the same air traffic laws that most planes do.
Anyways, this is short cause it's the first chapter, the others will be longer. I'll post the second chapter right after this one.
