The brisk air gently tousled Kit's hair as he continued his walk across the moor. The cut out path thankfully saved him from having to trek through the heather, but the stones and uneven kilter of said path still made for an uncomfortable walk. Moonlight cut through very thin and wispy cloud cover though did almost nothing to light their path. With Kit's night vision and farsighted runes though, he could very clearly see almost every star of the milky way. It was a breathtaking sight.
'I think we should be far enough away now that nobody will disturb us.' Ty said, stopping abruptly.
'Okay, what now?'
'Well what did you do last time?' Ty asked.
'Uhh, yeah so I was laying down and trying to access my power like Tessa taught me but it was sort of like my magic was calling me…. Oh gosh what if it doesn't work this time! We'll have given them information for nothing.' Kit's doubt tried to cloud his confidence.
'False information.' Ty said in that blunt honest way of his 'also you can do it, I know you can. You saved my life only last month.'
Seeing the unadulterated faith that Ty's eyes held was the only thing Kit needed to shake the doubt off. 'Okay, I can do this!' Kit found himself saying as he moved off of the track and found a place to lay down between the heathers.
Like last time, Kit tried to clear his mind but there was a nagging, a want to open his eyes and see what Ty was doing. Not because it was Ty (though that didn't help) but simply because it was another person watching him and it felt weird. Also, because of how quiet it was, Kit could hear the music echoing from the headphones Ty currently had around his neck.
'I can't do it.' he found himself saying, perhaps a little too loudly.
To Ty's credit he didn't flinch 'Oh? Why do you think that is?'
'Well, uh… it feels weird that you're watching me and I can hear your headphones.'
'Oh, sorry' then 'I can turn them off if you'd like?'
'But you shouldn't have to.'
'I don't really need them when it's just you.'
Kit's heart fluttered. He knew the other boy probably didn't mean anything of it but the words struck something in him.
'Okay then, if you really don't mind?'
He watched Ty as he took the headphones off and placed them on the floor with the satchel he had brought up. Ty had decided that Kit might need some sort of sugar after the magic considering it made him pass out last time and Kit didn't have the heart to protest, it was very sweet after all.
'I can lay with you if you'd like, do it too so it's not like im watching you'
This boy was going to end him. 'Y-yeah, okay' he stuttered out.
True to his word, Ty lowered himself to the floor a couple meters away from Kit and closed his eyes. He looked so still, so beautiful like that. His pale skin bathed in silver moonlight, curling strands of his hair blown around by the wind.
Focus
Kit closed his eyes once more and took in a deep breath of sweet heather and pine air. He let the same calmness wash over him, digging his hands into the dry dirt and letting it get under his fingernails, relishing in his closeness to the earth. He felt the prickles of the wild heather bushes dig into his left leg and the lumps and bumps of the earth below him bending his body around itself. The warm wind kissed at his cheeks and tugged at his shirt. He felt the familiar pull of magic begin to weave its way out of him though this time Kit remembered to focus, to set his intent.
Angel square, angel square, angel square.
Suddenly, he felt as though the floor had opened and swallowed him up whole. Like when he sometimes fell asleep and felt as if he were flying. Snapping his eyes open, he met wild stormy ones.
'I really thought it had worked this time.'
'Uh Kit, it has?' Ty spoke softly 'I just don't know how.'
Kit focussed his eyes in and with a start realised he was back in angel square, only this time Ty was with him. Ty seemed faint around the edges and slightly blurry but he was definitely here, as proven by him being able to talk and flutter his butterfly hand at his sides.
Slowly, Kit scanned around angel square only to notice it was mostly empty. They'd missed it… crap! All because stupid Kit couldn't stupid focus again.
'You arent stupid Kit.' Ty smiled softly 'You were talking out loud. Besides we don't know they have had their meeting yet or that it would even be here. Now come on, let's go for a walk and I'll show you some of my favourite places.'
'Oh, uh yeah okay' Ty really needed to stop saying things like that or Kit may implode.
Carefully, he took a tentative step forward and found a smile creeping up on his face as it seemed to actually work. The square still looked as broken and battered as before, but now, closer up and less crowded, Kit could see brown flecks between the cobles and cracks along the fountain's edge. As they worked their way past the fountain and towards the council buildings a thought dawned on Kit. The cobbles were redder here, fresher. Blood, it wasn't mud or slurry but blood. Oh god what the hell were they doing here?
As they strode up Gard Hill, Kit heard Ty gasp from beside him.
'The towers have almost gone out' he said matter of factly.
'That only means we need to work fast, eh?' Kit tired a joke but Ty didn't smile
'I used to love it here, it was so quiet and peaceful and I felt safe. I don't think I feel safe here anymore.'
'I still think it's pretty nice here or at least it has the potential to be… I don't really remember it from before but I still want to fight for it back okay?! We will go back and report this to Alec and see if we can fix it all right?!'
'Okay,' Ty said softly.
The front gates of the Gard were wonky, one hanging off of its top hinge at an odd and slightly concerning angle, as if it could fall at any moment. There was rust along the poles of the gate and one of the guardian angels seemed to be missing their head and the other their sword. Kit wondered what had happened to cause such destruction in just a few years.
Quietly the boys snuck into the Gard, ducking through the gaps in the warped iron and silver and then the ajar front door. Ty stopped for a moment, motioning Kit to do the same, and closed his eyes, brow furrowing in what he assumed was concentration. Kit followed suit and just listened for a moment before he picked up a soft voice echoing from upstairs. Ty had clearly picked up on this too as he felt a tap on his shoulder and looked up to see the other boy creeping off towards the staircase.
As they stood at the bottom, Kit saw a pair of shoes on the half landing and a white hot bolt of fear shot through him.
They can't see you
Kit tried to remind himself. With a false sense of calm and an oscar worthy performance, he put one foot onto the bottom step and paused for just a moment. When no one came running, he put his full weight onto the step and began to climb, Ty quietly following behind him. They managed to sneak past the very unnecessarily over armed guard and began listening outside the numerous doors until they found the voices they'd heard earlier. The seventh door finally yielded results, two or three distinct voices echoed from behind it.
'We can't open it, I hadn't thought this far ahead' Kit whispered dejectedly, he couldn't do anything right at the moment.
'We don't have to, we just have to wait until someone opens the door.' Ty said logically, his smile cunning and eyes alight with a challenge.
Around 25 minutes later, the door finally crept open and a man with pale skin and a ghastly red scar along his ear and jawline started to walk out. Ty, thinking quicker than Kit apparently, grabbed the other boy's shirtsleeve and pulled him into the room. Once he had caught his breath from the abrupt change of scenery, Kit looked up and met the eyes of Zara Dearborn. She was wearing the red robes that he had seen on the portraits in the hall and judging by Ty's face it must've been rather blasphemous.
'Though, I'd say the meeting went pretty well this afternoon Consul' the other speaker, a muscular man, spoke with an air of arrogant confidence
'Consul?! No way!' Ty whisper shouted, fingers tapping at his thigh rhythmically.
'I'd agree. Rather unfortunate though that the one new recruit fizzled up. Ruined the skirt of my robes.'
Bitch. Self centred bitch. Kit thought
They were getting nothing but angry staying here and Ty must have realised as much as he carefully pulled on Kit's sleeve and gestured to leave. Kit followed Ty out, once more waiting for someone to open the door. Thankfully it only took a further 5 minutes as the so dubbed 'scar face' returned with what seemed to be 3 cups of tea. It was an odd juxtaposition but Kit supposed even villains needed tea breaks too what with all their scheming and murder.
'Well that was a bust' Kit said, more loudly now they were outside as if it made a difference.
'Not entirely' Ty said with a smile 'we have proof they're recruiting unethically. This is great!'
'We can't explain it though.' Kit sighed.
'We can to Alec and Magnus.'
'Okay, now let's go find the spy, I don't know how long I can keep this up' his fingers and toes were tingling with an odd numb like sensation and he was beginning to feel lightheaded.
Half way through their walk across the city center they heard a voice.
'Do you really believe they are fireproof, seems like a stretch!' an echo of boot prints came from behind a shop named Diana's Arrow.
'Vanessa, I'd hardly think it smart to disagree with the Consul'
'Yeah well I don't trust that Lyric girl Jessica, she's only working for us because of her situation'
Ty audibly gasped beside Kit and he felt a shiver run down his spine, they'd found the culprit but for some reason it didn't feel good. Lyric was the youngest of the group of Centurions Ty had brought with him, and while she was young, she was sweet and helpful and didn't look at Ty or himself with anything but kind eyes and a naive but bright smile.
'We should go' Ty said somberly.
Kit closed his eyes and grabbed Ty's hand, they didn't go in together but he didnt want to risk it… whatever this weird magic was.
When Kit opened his eyes again, the cold air sent shivers across the bare skin of his forearms. Dew had begun to form on the sweet, dry grass and the early morning air brought a few more clouds with it, hanging heavy above him. He looked over to Ty who had already stood up and was brushing off some dust from his gear. He was holding a bottle of orange juice out to Kit which he took and greedily drank.
'Ready?' he asked once Kit had finished.
'Lets go' Kit said, standing and joining Ty.
He watched Ty as they walked down the hill, the sun already trying to peek over the hills meekly. Kit couldn't help but watch how Ty's hands swung absently beside him, how he could reach out and grab one. He didnt of course, but by the angel he wanted to.
Kit fell asleep pretty quickly, exhaustion laying heavy on his chest and cotton thick in his head. He felt a dream swirl around him, a distant memory he could remember but couldn't quite put his finger on. Kit seemed to have arrived in a green space, standing in front of a grand but overgrown mansion. It was surrounded by a set of iron gates wrapped in arms of thorn, thick enough he couldn't see through it. The sky was lit with the summer sun and Kit was sure he could hear voices talking idly but he couldn't see a single soul anywhere nearby. As he looked around for the voices, he realised just where he was -a detail which he had missed last time- he was in Idris. He could see a few other manor houses on the hillside as well as the glass towers in the distance. He would've wondered if he'd brought himself back, but it felt different. Definitely a dream.
'Come find me' a voice echoed from what Kit thought was within the thorns somehow. Man his dreams were weird.
Not even before the voice had stopped ringing, Kit's eyes blinked open to the sound of an alarm. His alarm. With great difficulty, Kit stretched to turn it off before blinking his eyes into focus… and realising someone was stood in his room.
'Hello dear child'
'Mary?' He pushed off the fuzziness of lack of sleep 'Wait, is Ty okay?!' His hands balled up, nails digging in a slight amount.
'He is fine my dear. I have come to tell you that someone is looking for you,' Mary spoke softly.
'Who?' Kit asked not wanting to know the answer in actuality.
'I don't know, but they requested you meet them at a Blackthorn Manor. Do you know what that means?'
'Yes, thank you Mary. It's somewhere where my kind are from' Kit tried to explain, badly, to her.
10 minutes later, Kit once again found himself at the door outside Ty's room. For some reason it felt awkward to knock though he did so nonetheless of course.
'One minute' a voice called back and Kit waited (Im)patiently.
Ty appeared only moments later in a pair of pyjama trousers and -dear god- no shirt. His hair was a tangle of sleep and his eyes bleary.
Look respectfully Kit, in fact look away Kit. He chided himself.
'Sorry, I uh I didn't mean to um wake you' good job.
'It's okay Kit, I wasn't asleep I was just writing up a report on Lyric so we can interrogate her later'
'We're gonna have to put a hold on that for a sec. I think we have to get into Idris…'
'Kit, we can't. The cohort are there remember'
'About that, didn't you say that Julian and Emma found a portal at the manor when they were clearing it out last year?' Kit had already thought ahead of course.
'Oh, of course. I assume that it's still there then?'
'Not much to do other than go and find out I guess?'
'Chiswick is in London Kit… we've been over this, it's far too far away. You said so yourself'
'Crap. Hadn't thought that far ahead. We could ask Magnus to portal us just for a couple of days off?'
'I don't know if that will work'
'It will if I ask' Kit smirked, a plan forming.
'Hey Magnussss' Kit drawled
'Yes kitty cat dear' Magnus looked up from his newspaper and raised a single brow. 'I can tell you want something so hurry up, Alec and the boys will be down soon and we're going to a honey farm today!'
'Okay, we're getting back to the honey farm, that sounds awesome, but yeah.' He looked around the drawing room, checking it was empty 'so…' he threw himself on the sofa next to Magnus 'I want to take Ty to London for a couple days,' keep it vague, let the other person think as they may 'and I need a portal because neither of us can drive in the UK yet.'
Magnus leant forward, seemingly intrigued 'Is that so Kitthew'
'What?'
'What can I say, you remind me of a certain someone right now' his eyes glinted with something mischievous.
'Right, okay, sure, now can I go?'
'Excited, are we lover boy?' Magnus eyebrows wiggled suggestively 'but yes who am I to stop true love' he added with a flourish ´be in the back garden in 10 minutes'
Kit nodded pointedly trying to ignore Magnus' knowing smile and ran back upstairs to find Ty.
´So Magnus has agreed to create a portal for us but we have to be downstairs in 10 so be quick. Also pack your gear, don't wear it, as I kept our reason vague and he'll ask questions otherwise' Kit said, still slightly out of breath
Ty nodded and turned to find what Kit assumed was a bag of sorts.
'See you in a bit' Kit turned tail and left for his own room.
9.5 minutes later (he had timed himself), Kit had arrived at the back door of the house where Magnus seemed to be waiting. 30 seconds later at exactly 10 mins a well presented Ty appeared and smiled.
´I'm sending you to the London institute, think you can remember it?' Magnus asked
'Almost entirely' Ty stated proudly.
'Ah yes of course. Well wonderful' he smiled letting blue sparks fly around his palms, directing them to the open space that was their garden.
Ty stepped through first followed by a slightly trepidatious Kit, but not before he heard Magnus call out.
'Have fun lovebirds'
Kit rolled his eyes but let the portal take him.
A quick greeting to Evelyn Highsmith and a nausea inducing taxi ride later, Ty and Kit were stood at the front drive of Blackthorn Hall. It was glamoured to look like a private park so thankfully they hadn't had to tell the driver to drop them further away since Kit didn't quite fancy any walking through London's crowded streets.
The drive was gravelly but well managed and green stretches fanned out into gardens either side. The house itself looked particularly imposing and seemed to have a slightly malicious feel to it, though Kit couldn't place why. On one side was a Romanesque garden containing a very well kept statue of a man in a toga surrounded by 2-3 other lightly trashed busts. Their walk ended at a set of grand steps and a seemingly newly varnished set of doors.
The inside was just as grand with its black and white marble floors and vaulted ceilings. Emma and Julian had done a great job it seemed when they had come back to clean it during their travel year. It didn't take too long to find the portal as from the moment Kit set foot inside he could feel it's thrumming heartbeat for a reason he didn't yet know. he heard Ty immediately sigh with relief.
'Okay, now we go through?' Ty asked.
´Now we go through,' Kit said resolutely.
Ty reached out and took his hand and Kit felt himself go rigid. He held his breath for just a moment.
´So you won't get lost?' Ty said perhaps sensing Kit's unease.
Of course, he was trying to help make sure Kit didn't get lost. Nothing else. It was nothing else.
Going through a portal to Kit always felt like being splashed with water and having one's limbs stretched just slightly out of their comfort zone all at once. It didn't last long of course and by the time he opened his eyes he was in Blackthorn Manor or at least a decrepit glass house he assumed was Blackthorn Manor.
´Oh, that's why I hadn't found this before,' Ty said, looking around.
´hmm?'
´I didn't ever go into the greenhouse, Julian said it was too dangerous in its state of disrepair'
Kit nodded thoughtfully for a second before something suddenly occurred to him. 'What if some of the cohort are in here?'
´They shouldn't be, I don't think, since it's out of the wards I don't think they would risk it'
'You don't sound too confident there.'
'oh, because I'm not' Ty met his eyes for a moment, before looking away 'let's go' he added happily, walking down one of the rows of strange potted plants.
Ty was right of course, nobody was inside as it seemed when they made it into the front hall. Kit suddenly became aware of a familiar crawl on his skin and it's pair in the form of a bone deep chill. He turned, expecting to see perhaps Livvy.
He was met with the face of a pale young lady with platinum hair pinned in curls atop her head 'You aren't who I saw in my dream… who are you exactly?´ Kit replied before his mind caught up with itself.
´I'm Grace Blackthorn, well, I was, and this was my home for the first 15 years of my life. Why are you here?´
´Like I said, I had a dream and it led me here. I think I'm supposed to find something here.' Kit wasn't quite sure how to go about this but went with honesty.
´You look familiar you know?´ Directed at Ty this time who was stood near Kit looking up at one of the portraits.
He turned ´I'm Centurion Tiberius Blackthorn' he was looking somehow directly at her, at Grace where she stood in a sliver of sunlight.
´Ah, I see. You have the same smile as him you know'
´As who' Kit cut in.
´How very rude. My brother Jesse. He used to live here too.'
´Brother?´ kit chose his words carefully. She seemed sharp and easily upset ´ Did he have green eyes, dark hair and just the one rune?' He quirked a brow.
Her shock told him his answer ´How did you know?' She asked
´he has visited me twice now, I think he wanted us to come heré'
´Why?!' She crossed her arms and looked down sharply.
´I- actually I don't know. I'm not sure what I expected actually' he really didn't, he just knew here was correct.
´I think I know' Ty looked up from the image he was studying ´This is your brother yes?' Ty asked.
´Actually, it's my father but they looked identical apparently.'
´Well, it's the only portrait along the hall that hasn't been scratched out. I noticed it when we were here last in 2009 and always thought it odd' Ty let the room catch up 'if you look carefully it has been repainted slightly just around the right hand. A right hand which now contains a second Blackthorn ring like the one on his left'
´That's… odd' Kit so helpfully supplied.
´Hmm quite Watson. I believe the ring might perhaps be important in some way?'
'Ah yes, I may be able to help you here' Grace supplied, intrigued. 'My mother added that -or rather had it added- when my brother died as it was the only shadowhunter thing he had to link him to his heritage. My brother couldn't bear runes you see so he died taking them'
´Why are you telling us this? Ghosts aren't usually this helpful, can we trust you?' Kit interjected
'Well there's not exactly much to do for entertainment around here and besides he's family and you stick with family.' an oddly impassioned, but believable, statement.
´Thank you Grace. Now can you tell me whether this ring has ever been worn by another?'
´No, he was kept with it and it stayed with his body and his ghost'
´Ghost?' Tys voice rose an octave ´Oh, that's where I recognise the name from. We need to find the ring, do you have it?'
´No. I believe they moved most everything when they cleared the estate out'
The freaking clave!
'I don't know where anything is anymore' she spoke wistfully and tinged with a sadness.
´Kit?´ Ty asked
'yes?'
'The Blackthorn rings are all made of the same material carved by the Iron Sisters?'
Kit nodded, he loved how Ty explained his theories with wide, excited eyes.
´Surely they are linked by their nature. Could your magic sense it if you had my ring?'
Kit gulped at the thought… Ty wanted to give him the Blackthorn ring. The special one Julian had had made for him when he left for the Scholomance. Not like that he had to remind himself.
´I don't know'
Ty deflated a little.
´But I can try.'
He brightened innumerably. Slowly, Ty pulled his ring off of his right hand and passed it to Kit. The metal felt warm where it had been against Ty's skin and he was right, Kit could feel a slight spark deep in its core as if it were a heartbeat. Kit couldn't help it, he slipped the ring on his finger and he could swear he could hear someone's breath catch just slightly. He wondered if Grace could sense the power too. Ghosts always seemed to sense the magical for some reason.
Kit had watched many a movie where this type of thing happened but he hadn't the slightest clue as to how it worked.
'Is something wrong?' Ty asked.
'No... but I don't exactly have a manual for this. I don't know what I'm doing' nonetheless he closed his eyes and tried to focus… to no avail once more. 'I can't do it, I'm not ready. I'm sorry Ty.'
Kit didn't miss Ty's downcast gaze 'it's okay, perhaps we were meant to find something else instead'
'Wait, hold my hand' Grace said, extending her spindly and pale hand to him palm up.
Kit concentrated on feeling her hand and reached out making contact. The feeling of holding her was like someone had dropped ice water on him and built frost into his very bones. It was squirmy and dreadfully uncomfortable. Kit did feel something though or at least he thought perhaps he did.
'Focus on the ring' she spoke softly 'where is it calling to you from?'
Kit felt a curl of wispy magic carrying the scent of petrichor snake out from somewhere within the house. He closed his eyes and let the pattern play out under his lids.
'Outside' he said, already letting her go and moving back from where they had come.
Kit found himself trudging with purpose away from the house until when he turned around the full facade was visible. It was framed in a way so oddly familiar that he could almost remember it. Ty was stood next to him and Grace was floating just above the grass near the steps.
Blackthorn Manor was an odd house as it seemed fairly well cared for, or at least it had pre takeover. Yet, there somehow still seemed to be a thick bracket of thorns around the home and its gateway and a thick layer of dust or perhaps ash lay heavy on the sills and busts. Ash…
'Grace could you move over towards that thicket of briars to your right?'
Grace rolled her eyes and crossed her arms 'a lady would never have been treated like this in my day!' she huffed halfheartedly while moving as asked.
Kit walked closer until he was stood nearly nose to nose with Grace, ty following with a pondering look. Kit found himself arcing his neck up to the briars point for some reason.
'Up there. See, there's something glistening'
'Do you think?'
'Oh, i know'
They were right of course and a five minute walk to the third story window later, Kit had the Blackthorn ring in his possession and Ty had a beaming smile on his face. The ring must have been buried or dropped at some point but grown up on the center of a single branch of bracken. The metal was light on his palm and cooler than expected but with a strange aura Kit couldn't quite tap into. Carefully, he placed the ring into the zipped breast pocket of his gear jacket and stepped back.
'What now?' Kit asked, unsure of how to proceed in this kind of a situation.
'We need to return to London and find somewhere to stay so that we can reconfigure.' Ty replied, ever well focussed. 'Thank you for your help Grace, I hope you get to see you brother again one day, I know how hard it can be to lose a sibling.'
Grace smiled a thin smile 'Thank you young Blackthorn, I wish you the same' and then she disappeared.
45 minutes later, they were in a fairly upmarket London hotel (with thanks to the clave mission account) both busy laying on opposite beds. The ring had been placed on the dresser between the beds and Kit was staring at the ceiling trying to wrack his brain for any other clues while Ty seemed to be flicking through the pages of a sketchbook, headphones on.
'Urgh' Ty let out an uncharacteristic, frustrated groan.
'Are you okay?' Kit sat up quickly and scanned Ty for any injuries. 'What hurts?!'
'Oh, nothing. Sorry I didn't mean to worry you I'm just unable to figure out how we find the item of blood, hair or bone for the ritual'
'It's okay, I'm just overreacting I guess.'
'About what…' Ty thought for a moment 'Oh!' the cogs moving behind his eyes.
Kit huffed out a sad smile 'Yeah, I know it's silly but sometimes I can still see it. There was so much blood and you were shaking and then when I came back and you stopped… I think you might have even stopped breathing for a second.' His words flowed like rivulets of blood from an open wound. And then he started crying.
Ty moved quickly from his own spot until he was next to Kit on the bed, pulling him onto a crushing hug. He squeezed onto Kit tightly and he was aware that Ty was shaking like a leaf too. His breath was coming in hard and ragged through his constricted lungs and heavy heart. Kit hadn't realised how much it had affected him at the time and how much he had apparently pushed it down as every good shadowhunter seemed to do.
'Im sorry' Ty said meekly against his shoulder 5 minutes later.
It took Kit a second to register 'Why?' he said pulling back to wipe the tear tracks from his cheeks.
'I didn't mean to scare you, I'd never do that on purpose. I promise'
'I know Ty, I know,' he replied, running his tongue over his teeth.
'Wait a second… did anyone ever keep you guys' baby teeth?' Kit pulled away completely now but kept within arms reach.
'Teeth aren't bones Kit, it's a common misconception, but thank you anyway' Ty gave a glassy eyed smile.
'No, but don't they generally come out with blood on them?' he tried to think back to where his train of thought had been going but images of Ty laying there covered in blood still sat with him.
'Kit, you're a genius, you might just be onto something here!' Ty's eyes sparkled.
Kit felt a blush tinge his ears 'Thank you, now how do we get them… we can't exactly go back to LA again?'
'I'll text Julian and ask him about it. If our parents kept them, Magnus or Tessa can apparate them for us.' Ty's eyes got wider and his hand began fiddling with the cord of his hoodie. 'Pack your suitcase and we can go back to Devon now and get started!'
'About that,' Kit started, 'the excuse I gave Magnus means we're here till tomorrow night' he hoped Ty wouldn't mind.
Ty glanced down at his watch for a moment 'it's only 2:30, we could go out and get a late lunch?' he suggested.
'Sounds great, let's go!' kit hopped off his bed, rubbing his eyes once more and grabbing his wallet off the dresser.
Thank you all so much for reading, hope you enjoyed this slightly longer chapter! Feel free to leave comments and kudos if you liked it. I had fun writing this but it took rather a long time as last weekend I went on a high ropes adventure with some friends and then had a very busy week at work. I wrote a good portion of this on the bus to and from. Also if you want a 'Malc family trip to the honey farm' fic I'm so up for writing it.
Dictionary of terms
Honey farm: the honey farm is based off of a local honey farm now tourist trap I was apparently obsessed with as a kid (and still adore) called Quince Honey Farm.
