With nothing more to say I'll let you read chapter 21

Painful memories

Linda's emotion was so great and unexpected since in front of her was her best friend of all life safe and sound covered in a little snow. Blu had the same feeling because in front of him was her lifelong friend and mother, protected from the snow and without any harm "Blu!" It was the first thing Linda said and she ran to her best friend so she could hug him.

"Linda!" squawked the blue male running towards her to be able to lean on the palms of her hands showing a beautiful smile on her beak for seeing her again

"Awww ... Blu" Linda could not hold back her tears and took the bird to her cheek showing all the affection and love she felt when she saw him again "I thought I would never see you again"

The beautiful gesture made the blue male purr near the redhead's cheek showing how happy he was to see her again after so many hours looking for her. Samuel slowly came out of hiding from him and looked at the beautiful gesture between the redhead and the macaw

"Wow ... he really loves that bird very much," he said inside his mind and for the first time Samuel understood that his crimes and robberies not only brought him satisfaction, they also brought sadness and pain in some families and received the same pain when his couple was arrested

The presence of the predator scared Milagro a bit inside her mind; she kept wondering how she managed to escape. Will the birds that were left in charge of caring for it be okay? Monroy continued to stare at the canine earnestly in the moonlight that made his shadows seem larger in the company of the snowflakes.

"But how come ...

"You didn't think you would get rid of me so easily, did you?" Monroy responded by scaring the bernardo a little more

"What did you do to Javier and Tomada?" Mily asked desperately

"Nor did I leave without leaving a memory" commented the eagle remembering what happened "mainly to that silly hawk"

(Angry dog growl) You won't get away with it Monroy, your master is one step away from being stopped by the law! "Snarled Milagro showing her sharp teeth

"Maybe ... but I won't let a flea sack with a couple of birds tell me what to do" Monroy pounced on Mily to scratch her face but she reacted quickly and hit the eagle with her front paws while still growling

"Oh ... someone is not being nice" Monroy scoffed at Mily's attack and that led her to attack him again to play on her emotions "What's wrong, fur ball?" she asked mockingly avoiding the blows of the female "have you never played with a bird?" Those words further enraged Milagro and using her fury against him he launched himself to be able to knock him down again but this time Monroy reacted to the attack and threw a strong scratch in the center of the eye. The pain and bleeding made Mily howl in anguish, the sound startled the deer and she backed away from the dock.

"Something is happening up there" Tulio heard Mily's howl at the top of the pier as she tried to get out of the lake with the help of the snow.

"Keep trying to climb through the snow" Victor ordered climbing the snow that surrounded the lake to get out, while Raúl leaned on one of the linebackers who was holding the bench, his anger against Tulio grew more and his plan to get the money was a disaster thanks to his presence but this time I wanted to end him once and for all

"I finally got out!" I celebrate Victor for having managed to get out of the lake feeling very cold in his legs "give me your hand Tulio" approaches the shore of the lake to help his grandson

"I'm starting to hate the snow" Tulio confessed taking his grandfather's hand but unexpectedly he was dragged by the legs back to the lake "Ahggg ...

"Tulio!" Victor jumped into the icy water forgetting what was happening at the top of the pier to help his grandson

Back with Linda and Blu (this happens at the same time that Mily fights with Monroy)

"Forgive me for everything Blu" begged Linda breaking the hug, looking at her friend face to face with tears in her eyes "if I had known this would happen I would never have left you alone in that place" maybe Blu could not speak like her but he he understood, his words and with a sweet croak he replied "it's not your fault"

"But how is he, where or what did you do?" Linda's questions and doubts were interrupted by the cawing of a goose that approached them in the company of a small owl and a deer.

"Alice"! "Blu screamed looking at his friends who were approaching, Linda released him to go with them since she did not stop smiling and screaming at their presence

"Josh, but how come ...

"How is it possible that this bird is alive?" Samuel interrupted, walking over to Linda, amazed by the presence of the deer and the two additional birds.

"You found her, blue boy!" Alice celebrated by flapping her wings although Linda and Samuel heard a loud squawk "Mily, she's an excellent tracker!"

"I know" Blu celebrated with the same spirit as Alice "now we just have to find ...

(Loud howl of wounded dog)

"It's Mily!" yelled Josh acknowledging the call

"I must be in trouble" Alice answered with concern.

"But where does that come from ..." once again Linda was interrupted by Samuel upon hearing the howl

"It must be the same bernardo that ran by" Samuel answered Linda's question, remembering what happened during the stampede of deer.

"It must be Mrs. Alejandra's pet," recalled Linda the dog that her friend's grandmother had, "it must be looking for Tulio."

"We have to help her" Josh suggested approaching the back of his deer "let's go get her, Comet!" obeying the order of the owl the deer began to run to the dock surprising Linda and Samuel for their action

"That owl was taming an animal" Samuel asked in amazement "that's incredible!"

"Alice I need you to take me to her" Blu asked approaching the female

"But what about your human friend?" asked the female bending down for Blu to board on her back

"If Tulio is there, Linda will go looking for her" Blu answered, determined to help Mily "now she flies!" order pointing to the night sky with one of his wings

"Hold your feathers" Alice took a pulse to fly to the direction the call was coming from. Her action caught Linda's attention as she was surprised that her macaw boarded the Canadian goose.

"Blu! ... Blu, where are you going!" she screamed the redhead when she saw that his friend walked away again

"He must be looking for his partner" Samuel answered after seeing what happened.

"Jewel?"

"When I tried to take it, the other blue bird attacked me desperately" Samuel confessed, remembering the kidnapping "Ufff ... I think she was in heat, as if to protect her male"

"We have to follow him" Linda ordered running after the goose "by the way you can't go to jail if you accept your mistake"

"Maybe but if being in jail forces me to stay with Thomas I will accept it" replied the thief following his new friend

"Ahhh! ... my eye!" shouted Milagro in a strangled howl placing one of her front paws in his eye to control the bleeding and enduring the severe pain in her eye

"Oh ... did it hurt?" Monroy asked mockingly "do you want me to rub your puppy belly?"

"You are a monster!" Mily cursed, looking at the eagle, "You dare to hurt others to ease your pain!"

"What can I say?" Monroy was flattered by those words

"You kidnapped endangered birds, you hurt innocent children, and you almost hurt my partner's grandson!" He reproached Mily for "you do things for no reason!"

"Hehehe ... it all makes sense puppy" Monroy chuckled showing his dark side once more, walking backwards calmly while remaining alert "I was not raised like all normal kids. I had a saying that my father taught me. To do it by learning well, you will learn the hard way "look at his sharp claws remembering his sad childhood" I got to the point of wanting to eliminate him but a blue bird made me change my mind "although Mily suffered from Monroy's pains, the story was interesting

"But there was a problem" confessed the eagle turning around "that bird had a very overprotective father and he listened to everything except me"

Monroy's flashback

"How do you keep attacking?" Said a blue macaw with a slender body and green eyes being inside a nest with the company of an eagle "you told me you left that business"

"I no longer commit crimes Priscila" replied the same young eagle with black eyes "I don't know where you got those things from"

"My father saw you raiding a family of owls"

"You will trust an old man than me!"

"He would never lie to me" Priscila defended her father "Tell me you did it, yes or no, Monroy"

"We are at a time when we need food the most," Monroy said, trying not to be rude to the Spix macaw.

"Yes, but it is not an excuse to attack people" Priscila reproached.

"Be grateful that I am feeding you and much more if you are pregnant"

"I don't want that kind of goodness from Monroy!" the woman clarified "I'm tired of repeating it to you, you do things behind my back, you are destroying this family yourself!" one step away from leaving the nest, Monroy held her firmly by returning her to the nest

"If being firm with you makes me protect you, I'll have to!" she supports Priscila on the wall forgetting about her pregnancy "you know how I get when I get angry and you don't want me to hurt again ...

"Monroy lets go of my daughter!" ordered a male voice entering the nest

"Dad!" both Priscila and Monroy stopped fighting "it's not what ...

"I knew this would happen" reproached the male, standing next to her daughter, keeping her away from the predator "Are you okay, darling?" The older bird asked, stroking her daughter's belly to see if everything was going well with her pregnancy.

"When will the day be when you leave me alone with my family, Erick?" She reproached Monroy when she looked at her father-in-law consenting to her daughter who did not stop smiling when she saw the gesture that she gave to her future grandchildren.

"When my daughter stops suffering for your behavior" Erick replied after calming her daughter who controlled her urge to cry

"We had a disagreement as each couple is not for you to exaggerate" Monroy replied rolling his eyes

"Dad was just one ...

"You attack and deceive many birds that are struggling to survive the cold! You deceive my daughter and dare to put a wing on top of her when you should least hurt her!" Erick did not listen to the words of his daughter since he knew that she was lying "What will come after you attack and beat the minors?"

"You! You have no right to...

"He's right" Priscila replied, interrupting her partner's sentence, realizing that her father was right "I'm tired of your behavior, your lies and your vices"

"You didn't say anything when I brought you more than one ration of food" reproached the eagle, looking at the female seriously.

"Now it's different and with that I tell you that I don't want to see you again until ... until you change" Priscila replied, holding back the urge to cry as she left the nest.

"You can't take me away from my children!" Monroy tried to stop her but Erick got in the way

"While I am present I will" the male clarified before leaving the nest leaving the young eagle alone.

End of flashback

"It was not the distance that affected me (small pause) what affected me the most is that my own wife did not support me" confessed Monroy trying not to show weakness with his story "I have not seen my children for more than five years and everything thanks to that blue male who ruined everything "

"That bird was right" Josh interrupted approaching the dock mounted on, kite and Blu landing with Alice on the dock "you yourself made your wife leave you and everything for your pride"

"Wow ... what do we have here" Monroy ignored the presence of the owl "the blue man and his herd of monsters"

"Mily, you are bleeding!" Alice was scared to see the state of the canine approaching her.

"Calm down Alice, I'm fine" Mily replied with a small smile but inside she was suffering from the loss of her eye.

"I didn't think you would introduce yourself after your girlfriend left you" Monroy approached Blu looking at him seriously. The blue man was about to reply but was interrupted by Josh

"Dad this does not have to end like this" Josh interrupted approaching his father forgetting how dangerous it was "maybe you did not have a quiet life but you should not vent your pain with other people please dad ... do it for me"

"Awww ... Josep ... Josep so innocent and so kind (sigh) if you remembered what happened the day I found you. You would be sleeping with river fish or roasted over the fire, the day I found you abandoned" Once again, those words caused Josh to have the same headache again.

Comet was so enraged at the eagle's words, letting his wild instinct escape; he ran towards the eagle and pushed it with his horns, letting out a loud growl, surprising everyone.

"But what ..." Monroy didn't finish his sentence because Comet put one of his hooves on his body and let out a loud growl again.

"Comet no!" Josh yelled at his leggy friend because he knew what he was trying to do "don't hurt him!" He tried to get closer to the deer but Alice held him with her wings.

"He's upset," Alice commented in amazement and fear, holding the boy, "he usually doesn't behave like that unless ...

"Deer tend to defend their herd members" Blu interrupted with the same amazement as the female "but what does this have to do with Josh?" that word was said inside his mind

"Get away from me cuckold!" Monroy cursed, scratching the deer leg away from her body, causing Comet to pull away from her with another grunt of pain. Losing patience with everyone, Monroy snatched Josh away from Alice holding him by the neck looking at him with more hatred and mercilessly threw him into the thawed lake.

"Ahhh! ...

"Josh!" Alice screamed in panic jumping off the dock. Mily wanted to help but the loss of her eye made her lose strength and more with the blood she was losing. Blu was about to follow the hen's step but Monroy took him by the neck

"This time there will be no interruptions!" Monroy took flight carrying the blue male in his enormous claws to the top of the sky

"Ahhh! ...

"No!... "He shouted Milagro with great sadness when he saw how the predator took his friend to the top of the sky. While he still held his front paw in his wound

"Ahggg!... Ahggg! ... (slight cough)" The unexpected movement scared the poor little owl that while he managed to recover air and tried not to open his beak too wide so as not to swallow so much water, he used his small wings to be able to swimming "It's very cold" Josh tried to swim with little strength that he still had in his body but it was too much for him since a child of his size cannot stand the cold water as much

"Josh, where are you?" Alice screamed at the distance of the owl hearing a nearby sound.

"(Double coughing) Alice!" said the spotted owl, recognizing the voice of her friend, raising her head

"Wait a bit, here I go!"

"No I can not!" Little by little Josh lost consciousness and watched from afar as the goose approached him

"Wait! ... Wait! ... Josh!" Alice swam faster to catch Josh before he completely drowned. The goose's gesture of despair and fear made the little owl remember something that he had never remembered in his life

Josh flashback (same lake scene but in the distance there was a fire)

"Wait my little one, here I go!" A female voice was heard at a distance from Josh being younger living the same situation that was happening. With what little vision Josh had, he could see a fire around the lake while a female owl who could barely see his face swam desperately to him but being smaller

"Hold on, hold on!" the woman screamed in fear and despair "JOSHUA!" Although Josh was a small newborn, he managed to recognize his mysterious voice and made small squawks to get the woman's attention. "Joshua!" when he heard the name the second time he ended up drowning as was happening now in his present

That little memory made Josh (Joshua) remember his real name and the fire that his father mentioned so much where he found him abandoned. But the most beautiful thing for him was that he heard his mother's voice for the first time, he always had the desire to meet her and now that a part of his wish was fulfilled, he forgot everything that was happening accepting his destiny in order to meet her. Be with his mother who probably disappeared in that fire

"Josh!" Alice screamed as Josh's head fell under the water "Wait boy!" I take a little air and under the water to catch the chick placing it behind its back bringing it back to the surface recovering air and at the same time shivering from the cold "I ... I have you!" Relieved of her fear, she began to swim towards the shore of the lake looking at the semi-conscious boy.

"You can see it?" Linda asked looking up at the night sky to see if she was within sight of her friend.

"No, but this snow is freezing my lips" Samuel replied, shivering with cold and looking at the little light that the moon gave.

"Stay away from my grandson!"

"Stay still, silly!"

"It's Raúl and he's not alone!" Samuel recognized his friend's voice

"Oh no… Tulio!" They both ran towards the place where the sound came from, forgetting about their pursuit.

"Let go of me! Ahggg! ..." Tulio tried to get away from Raúl's grasp

"You thought you would escape that easy," Raúl claimed, taking him by the neck, "it's not enough for you to snatch the girl I liked!

"Raúl, you have gone crazy!" Victor screamed as Raúl away from his grandson

"I've lost my mind and it's all thanks to this weakling!"

"TULIO!" Linda screamed when she saw her friend being held by Raúl and Víctor in the freezing water

"Linda, you are alive!" Victor was glad to see his best student safe from him "Oh thank heaven!"

"Samuel, what are you doing with her?" Raúl asked in amazement when he saw his friend with Linda

"Doing the same as you" answered Samuel seriously "double betrayal brother"

"That will not prevent me from getting my reward" Raúl squeezes Tulio again

"Raúl I know that I hurt your feelings but that does not give you the right to vent to other people", Linda spoke with a little fear for fear that Raúl will hurt Tulio "please leave Tulio and let's talk about this with more tranquility".

"For what?" Raúl asked in a painful voice "so that you can see me again as a simple friend, nothing more?"

"For me you were always a wonderful person", replied Linda, moving a little closer to the shore "I am glad to know that a man like you admires and loves animals but now that I know your true self I feel disappointed and if I would have accepted your invitation. Sooner or later I would find out who you are. "

Linda's words left Raúl a little thoughtful and he loosened his grip on Tulio, which surprised Víctor, taking advantage of the fact that he is regaining consciousness. Samuel spoke to his friend.

"Raúl, when you offered me this job, you promised that it would be good for me and I would get my mother to approve of my relationship, but risking my life and putting others at risk made me understand that I could lose my family. "She approaches the shore of the lake offering him a hand" You are like the brother I always wanted to have and I would not like that the grudges you have with your father cause you the same pain that I am feeling now"

Both words were very moving for Raúl, his best friend still had faith in him and the girl he liked was willing to forgive him, even one of his employees admired his talent even if he was not sincere with his personality. He slowly removed his hand from Tulio's neck, freeing him to swim towards his grandfather.

"Thank you Raúl" Víctor thanked him, carrying his grandson on his shoulder, leading him to the shore of the lake.

"We have to get out of here before we completely freeze," Raúl said in a painful, aching voice, accepting his mistake.

Linda helped Tulio and Víctor out of the lake while Samuel helped his best friend, who did not have the courage to look him in the eye, his actions led to hurting the people who loved him and all thanks to the grudges he had with his father.

(Siren of a police car)

"But how is it possible that they found us?" Victor wondered remembering to have left without a trace

"The stampede of deer must have caught his attention" Tulio replied, shivering with cold.

"So what is the next plan?" Samuel asked looking at his friend who he still did not say a word.

"Take me with them" Raúl replied with shame and ready to face his mistake.

"Raúl, look up," Tulio ordered, looking at Raúl's eagle soaring high into the dark sky. "Isn't that your eagle?"

"And it looks like it has a bird in its talons," Victor commented, looking with what little sight he had because the snow blocked his view.

"My God, Blu!" Linda remembered that her friend had desperately started running to check if she was her friend.

"Wait Linda!" Tulio went after her

"Ahggg! ... Ahggg! ..." Although Blu was losing air, he could see how Monroy raised him to the top of the clouds that little by little covered the full moon; he tried to move to get rid of the claws of the predator while looking at some figures coming from the lake

"Don't try to fight because it won't do you any good" Monroy said with an evil voice until reaching the top of the sky being illuminated by the moon and snowflakes "At first I just wanted to force you to tell me if you know a bird with the same feathers as your girlfriend but now that I know you I want to eliminate you "hold Blu's neck with one of his claws and his abdomen with the other while still floating in the air" and what better way than to do it with something you can't overcome

"No! ... Ahggg! ..." Blu begged with difficulty and fear "I'm not ready yet!"

"That's the same thing the pathetic hawk said when I tried to eliminate it but this time there will be nothing to distract me" determined to finish it off, he loosened his grip on Blu's neck but before releasing him completely a loud squawk distracted him until some claws small but quite sharp scratched the part of the left eye

"Ahhh! ...

"Get away from him, fool!" it was Jewel who had arrived before the tragedy with Chloe's company

"You ..." Monroy was annoyed when he saw the presence of the blue female and the Canadian goose. "Didn't you get enough?" He looks at her seriously while she is still suffocating Blu, who with the little oxygen and the sight she still had had managed to say "But ... Ahggg ... wh-what".

"That doesn't interest you," Jewel replied, still flapping her wings and glaring at the predator.

"Don't tell me you're here because of this useless one," Monroy pointed out to the blue man who was slowly losing consciousness.

"Where is Alice?" Chloe asked about her sister with the same seriousness as her friend.

"Why don't you look at the bottom of the lake, little chicken?" Monroy's words scared her, she didn't want to believe it, but her appearance and personality made her think of the worst.

"No! ... No! ..." Chloe screamed, resisting the urge to cry "that's impossible, you're lying!"

"Why don't you help her with her problem, blue boy" Monroy stopped holding Blu and dropped him from the sky.

"AHHH! ...

"Blu!" both females screamed at what had happened and the first to act was Chloe who swooped down to catch her friend before she reached land. Monroy began to laugh evilly at the goose's silly action while Jewel felt scared by what happened, Monroy's personality was very cruel even for her who was always firm with unknown people

"You are a fucking monster!" Jewel responded with all the anger that she had accumulated since she was kidnapped, insulted and deceived "she does not know how to fly!"

The anger of the blue female attracted a lot to Monroy since it was the opportunity to play against his pain once more and he dared to tell him something about it "please we both know that that fool is not worth it" replied the eagle with an evil laugh

For some strange reason those words infuriated Jewel and she no longer felt the resentment and pain that she felt when she met Blu at the zoo. This change caused his wild instinct to come to light for the first time, but not just any instinct was the instinct that makes you do anything for the person you love and cherish so much no matter who it is.

Ahhh! ... "Blu screamed in fear looking at the height to which he was falling, no matter how hard he tried, he could not fly his trauma was growing too much he never thought of experiencing this kind of situation again his heart began to race until he suffered a seizure that reminded him of his greatest trauma in life while having a seizure a shadow approached him before he fell to the ground

And we come to the end of the chapter dear readers. They weren't expecting Raúl to change ranks, did they? Like Monroy's attacks, I don't even know which one of them is the scariest. I appreciate that they were waiting for me a lot to continue with this story I have the feeling that by the end of August I will finish with the last chapters

Your criticism and comments will be heard (as long as they are related to the story) until the next publication.
