Disclaimer: I don't own anything related to/with Merlin or Supernatural; I am just a fan of both shows. Any jokes in this story don't belong to me, I found them on the internet.
Things that you should be made aware of:
Everything in the Merlin series will be the same up until the end; that's where Cas and Dean come in. Arthur still dies and-or is dead in the story. Sorry. Since Arthur is dead, Merlin still hates-dislikes Mordred and there is distrust.
Oh and Cas; with his godlike-angel powers provided by the Leviathans, brought back his brother Balthazar. And Balthazar forgave Cas at the end of the day, because he had also betrayed him. So they are cool now.
Also I will be ranging from different 'supernatural sessions' and I will tie different 'canon events' into it. Plus I didn't kill off Kevin, cause I mean c'mon who the hell wants him dead.

Slanted words- Telepathic communication
Dean had been eating cereal. While taking advantage of the day being all peaceful with no pressing cases or impending doom calling out his name just yet. He thinks today is going to be awesome and he can just relax.
Then his peace flew out the window as he heard a swooshing sound. He didn't even bother looking up when he said. "Hey, Cas what are you doing here?"
The angel in question looked at the hunter then quickly scanned the room and spoke.
"Dean, I need you."
Heat creeps up onto his face, a little smile too smug to be genuinely real on his features.
It has the angel thinking that the hunter is more interested in eating his food then wanting to hear bad news. Because surely by the day's all-around calm that must be what he expected.
Still Dean plays along. Lifting the spoon from the bowl, droplets of milk sliding off from the utensil and onto the counter then floor as he twirls it in the air.
"Whoa Cas, the last person who told me that and with that look." He chuckled. Continuing to elaborate on word the angel had heard only once before and from the same awe-inspiring man no less.
"Let's just say. I got laid, ah man. It was wild!" The eldest Winchester smirked proudly as his mind replayed some 'happy endings' but Castiel's voice brought him back to the present.
He tilted his head slightly as he said. "What no I, I don't know what you are talking about. We have to travel.." Pausing then either for dramatic affect or because the Winchester is looking at as if posing the question of 'okay and' leaving the angel to continue.
Knowing that he will certainly ruin his dearest friend's hard earned and we'll deserved day off but that they have to do this regardless of his feelings.
It is for the greater good after all. It is for Humanity.
"Back in time Dean. To find a Druid."
The hunter looked shocked for a long, quiet moment.
Smirked all of a sudden as he got up from the chair and put his bowl on the sink. Uneaten food lay forgotten now.
When he spoke next, he sounded a little too excited as he looked for his brother.
However he didn't find him in the room so he yawned and hatched a simple plan in his mind as he spoke aloud. "Oh okay. Sammy! Dude get your stuff ready, we're going back in time!"
Dean then turned to look at his angel, but he had already vanished.
He sighed again. This time thrumming with excitement because he's thinking that soon Cas will quell his thirst for adventure.
Succeed in relieving his plus Sam from their ever-growing boredom.
For now though he just proceeded to wash the dishes. His logic being that if he was gonna travel, he might as well leave his 'house' clean first.
Sam had just finished showering and he had been in the middle of putting his shirt on.
Debating on whether he should read a book or take another nap before going to the kitchen for something to eat.
When Cas appeared a few steps to the left of him and smiled briefly in greeting.
The younger Winchester raised an eyebrow when Cas sat at the edge of his bed and just looked at him.
Sam thought it was a little off, then again nothing in their life screamed 'normal' so he looked at his phone.
Opening a text message from Dean saying that they were going on a trip and to pack lightly.
Mumbling a 'k' he walked over to his closet and started packing things he might need for the trip.
He cleared his throat when things got awkward, then he spoke. Because Castiel had sat here watching him in silence for the last two or so minutes.
"Hey Cas, where are you sending us?" While putting an old book into his satchel and looking for his right shoe.
Castiel's eyes seemed to be looking through his soul and Sam was growing really uncomfortable now.
The angel's voice sounded apologetic as he spoke. "Sorry, Sam but we need you to stay here. You need to protect Kevin and get the last ingredients for the demon-hell sealing spell."
Sam's face fell at the words. Feeling somewhat put out by them but he nodded and spoke inquisitively. "Fine, I guess. I'll stay but where and when are you going Cas?"
He holds up his phone, showing a new text from his brother. Pointed at the words 'time-travel.
He is low-key jealous.
The angel pressed his lips together then elaborate. "England; I believe you humans refer to it as 'Camelot'. The year we will be in, 1170."
Okay yeah, he is definitely feeling it now.
The younger Winchester looked at him with a mix of shock and confusion.
Now he was pacing the room when he spoke in a dreamy voice that quickly turned suspicious.
"Wow. So wait, why should I stay? Dean, he doesn't know anything about that time or place."
He knows it in his heart if hearts that he is being a little petty when he says. "Why can't he stay?"
"Sam.." Castiel, didn't want to hurt Sam's feelings or offend him but he wanted, no needed time alone with Dean to amend.
Also with Sam but honestly Dean comes first damn it! Always will. Unfortunately when it comes to anyone else in his life.
After all, they do share a more profound bond.
They did onceand he wants it back. Well wait. Does he though?
He's thinking certainly not, he wants to construct a stronger one with him, he wants..
Something different.
Cas is not certain yet but he will be. If Sam just, leaves them alone for a while, to get his, their act together.
And this aside from being required from them is also a wonderful opportunity to see what happens.
Whether in the end is stays just friendship or it shifts and evolves into something more.
As Balthazar once told him he needed with the prophet and that he should 'entertain' Dean for a while.
He still had no idea why Balthazar had said it like that. Or why the thought lingers in the back of his mind to this day.
Yet it is present still. At the time he hadn't thought much on it.
Just followed orders, helped a friend. Yeah they were still kinda friends. Were definitely working on it.
"What Cas?" Sam asked as he put his shoe on, he had finally found it.
"Shut up, Sam. Balthazar will keep you company and you are distracting me with what Dean here calls your bitch face." Cas did the air quotations all wrong and Sam looked at him with surprise at his bluntness.
Dean and Kevin had walked over. With Dean filling him in on the news when they both heard the last part of what Cas had said and were laughing their asses off when they heard that.
But then Sam kicked it up a notch and showed them his angry bitch face accompanied with a glare that would scare even 'Freddy Krueger' himself. That shut them up immediately.
Dean walked in looking boss as he was wearing the outfit from Moondoor, in the 'LARP and the Real Girl' episode.
Yeah. He kept it. But thanks to the 'Bat cave' and 'The Men of Letters' he now also owned a real sword, a crossbow. Along with arrows for it and chain mail.
All that he knew was that the plan involved a wizard.
Then he winked at Sam, wanting to sling an arm over his shoulder.
Trying to but it was kinda difficult so he let the thought go and was all like.
"Hey Sam. How great is this, look at this! Its a freakin crossbow man! I feel almost as awesome as the time I met Eliot Ness! Oh or the cowboys. Aw baby."
He smiles widely, feeling kinda of bad when he caught drift of the situation. Having mentally vowed to tell his brother everything when he returns.
Cas looked at Sam as he dismissed the older Winchester and speaking directly to him.
"Sam whatever happens don't leave Garth's boat. It could get extremely dangerous."
"Ward the place from both angels and demons. Remember, Enochian sigils. We will return again in three days time, hopefully sooner."
Cas was about to apologize to Sam for his rudeness. When Balthazar came in, totally making a 'swoosh' sound and Cas spoke.
Kevin thinking it kind of funny and the angel reminded him of his Mom.
"Ah Balthazar, I was just telling Sam that you will be taking care of him and Kevin while I'm gone."
"Sure cupcake." Balthazar then winked at Castiel suggestively and stood a little too close for comfort.
That pissed the shit out of Dean, he could just 'feel' it. Sam could as well but chose to ignore it, as he was slightly miffed at the moment.
"Hey, ass hat!"
Balthazar backed off of Castiel slightly at the words and stared Dean down as he regarded him with slight annoyance.
"Oh. Hey Dean. A little word of advice. Keep the chain mail. Where you're going. You will need it."
The words came off like a good intentioned comment but something to Dean it was a thinly veiled threat.
Dean wasn't about to take his shit, so he joined in by saying. "Is that so, well you're the reason God created the middle finger."
And he knows that his words were immature yet the rendered the angel speechless for a moment so they accomplished the intended job.
"Ouch, that hurt but you're one load your mum should have swallowed." Balthazar smirked and Dean's eye's showed one thing, rage.
Kevin mentally called the angel a 'dumbass' and then he wishes he words he is telepathically speaking reach him. 'Dude you don't say that shit to a freakin Winchester, unless you have a serious death wish!'
The angel's smirk widened at the young man's concern for him and he was going to speak to him out loud but Cas interrupted by speaking when he said.
"Balthazar stop, that was rude." Cas was trying to appease the situation.
The eldest Winchester wasn't done, he would win this damnit. He, would win it good!
Honing a sing-song voice he went on to say.
"Really, well. God made mountains, God made trees, God made you but then we all make mistakes." Dean offered a shit eating grin as he said the words.
"Dean you aren't helping so stop goading him." Cas was getting annoyed now.
The lights in the room flickered and lightning shown out in the sky even though it was clearly daytime, around 4:15ish.
They could hear it loud and clear. All the other occupants in the room could clearly see the outline of his black feathers flex as he said Balthazar's next comment.
Everyone in the room knew 'shit had gotten real' at the words.
"Why don't you slip into something more comfortable. Like a coma, Dean? I can very well assist you in the process."
Cas had mentally warned both, the Winchester and his friend to 'back off and chill' this wasn't a good place or time regardless of their emotions.
But Dean blew him off, getting ready to throw hands. Thinking 'Like hell I will, this feathered douchebag is going down!'
"Ha-ha, okay. Sure that was funny, I'll let you have it but please stop. My mom's in the other room, guys." Almost everyone in the room had forgotten Kevin was there until just then.
"When you die. I'd like to go to your funeral, but I'll probably have to go to work that day. And I believe in business before pleasure."
Balthazar totally ignored Kevin, lowering his voice though. It was just too much fun to mess with the Winchester boy.
Plus, he told Kevin telepathically that it would be the last of his jokes.
"Balthazar, just stop it. Alright. Thanks." Sam was now tired of his shit as well.
Balthazar rolled his eyes. He sounded bored as he said the words. "Sorry love, but your brother is just 'oh so fun' to mess with. Now all I have is babysitting."
Sam dismissed his words quickly and looked at his brother.
"Alright, Dean take care of your angel since I know you're always fine. With any luck, we'll see you in a few days." Sam and Cas shared a look of understanding before they left.
Almost as if Sam finally understood his motive for wanting alone time. He just hopes that Dean makes it home back to him in one piece and safe.
And that poof, they traveled back in time.
Camelot 1170
"Whoa Cas what gives man? We're in middle of a freaking carnival of corpses!" Dean looked for a sign of life desperately but he knew deep-down that every person in the bloodied battlefield they are currently standing in was deceased.
Cas looked at the hunter with sadness in his gaze as he saw Dean put on a façade of nonchalantness and he said. "Relax, Dean."
That was all he could say, they could leave this place just yet.
As he scanned the battlefield quickly, he grabbed the hunters hand gently and used his 'angel mojo' to appear a distance closer where he wanted to be.
Which was a mile away and towards his left.
Then he found the one he had been looking for. He sighed softly in relief that it had not taken long.
"We only need one, ah here we go." He knelt next to the body of a young man, that looked not older than a teenager.
Someone had run him through with a sword and dumped his body face first onto the floor.
Dean breathes out. Being no stranger to Death itself but this is just wrong.
There are too many corpses here. This scene it worked to effectively remind him of the time they pissed off God.
And as a consequence were welcomed to The End. Stuck desperately trying to fight off hordes of zombies and outright nasty, vile and evil beings.
The feeling of not being certain that they would survive the hour.
It makes him shiver but he will not blame it of the scent of the dead and wanting to puke or the cool wind's chill.
Then he is pulled back to the present as he watches intently as Castiel touched the teen's wound with his fingertips.
How he smiled fondly at the boy. Almost as if he knew him, personally. Like greeting an old friend.
The Winchester raised an eyebrow at his angel but otherwise he made no comment, he just observed.
Castiel backed up a little, meeting his gaze he said. "Dean, this is Mordred."
Dean chewed his bottom lip in concentration as he breathes in. "Oh nice. Wait, where are we exactly Cas?"
He had not been told where they were going. All he had done is just packed his crap and dipped.
Castiel's blue eye met his green ones as he said the words. "England, what is left of the battle of Camlann."
The hunter's gaze landed on the deceased but slowly working on it, being alive again teen and he said.
"What gives Cas? This is just a boy. I thought we came here in search of a powerful wizard or some shit like that, not a beautiful dead boy."
Cas smiling slightly almost proud looking as he shook his head. Trying to explain.
"Dean, this boy just isn't a powerful Druid-sorcerer. He is also the man who killed the, what did you humans call him..ah yes. The 'once and future king' and..."
Dean totally cut Cas off in the middle of his rant and his eyes hardened as shame was starting to take hold. But he pushed it down then spoke in a quiet and almost gentle tone.
"Look...Cas. Not trying to burst your bubble but I don't give two fucks about a dead King, ok. If you wanted a nerd fest, you should have just brought Sammy. While we're on the topic I might as well ask, why am I the only one here-."
Cas lifted his hand in the universal 'stop' motion and said. "No. Dean this 'beautiful dead boy' you see here, was Arthur's son. To be more accurate, his and his sisters..." The hunters face lit up in surprise and astonishment.
Thinking that okay now they were getting somewhere.
"Ah gross an incest child." Then he was like. Looking at Mordred and wondering if that is why he killed the King.
"That's sick, you know. But if they were two consenting adults. Plus, there were no laws against it at the time right."
"It's like. Whatever floats their boats, I guess. Why do we need, sleeping beauty here though?"
Dean was pointing at Mordred's healing body as a result of Castiel reviving and healing him.
The angel answered by saying. "He is of grave importance to us, to you and your family. He has also saved the world, on more than one occasion. Mordred is your ancestor and the very first of the 'Men of Letters' Dean."
M Note: Castiel possessed Morguase then tricked Morgana and Arthur; into fucking each other, not remembering, producing a child, neither knowing. Then years later when Mordred goes to Camelot.
They both feel this weird attachment to the kid. But they don't know he's theirs. The Merlin story's the same not counting that.
