Break The Ice plotlines
The characters:
Gray Fullbuster – A gold medalist figure skater who got into an accident and broke his leg during a competition. His injury prevents him to participate in any strenuous physical activities, which leads him to become an ice skating coach instead. As a coach he is cold, scary and strict, no one lasts long with him as most of the trainees give up after a week.
Juvia Lockser – A swimming champion but she doesn't really love competing at it. She likes swimming and water but not on a professional level it's more of a hobby to her. She is trying to find a sport which she will be passionate about as she only got to swimming because of her family lineage. Then she sees Gray skating with passion on TV and she can't help but fall in love with his movements, expressions and those rare smiles while he is on ice, she became an avid fan since then.
Lucy Heartfilia – An aspiring skater who ran away from home and ended up in the Fairy Tail skating rink to find Aquarius, a skating coach who was friends with her mother. Her mother Layla was a famous ice skater who had poor health but when she died her father forbid Lucy to skate again and wants her to take over their business/company instead.
Natsu Dragneel – A gold medalist skater, rivals with Gray. He was abandoned by his father, Igneel in an ice skating rink. He was then brought up by Makarov (owner of FT ice skating rink) and Gildarts (an active skater at the time.) He grew up to love skating, and now Gildarts coaches him. He also has a blue cat named Happy.
Levy Mcgarden – Lucy's best friend and roommate, works as an editor. She also sometimes chooses music for Lucy's performances.
Gajeel Redfox – Juvia's best friend and a car mechanic.
The Plot:
- Juvia during practice starts to think about her career and how she doesn't have passion for this sport. She wants to find a sport that would make it worthwhile something that could make her feel passionate.
- One day while Juvia is watching TV she saw Gray Fullbuster's routine and fell in love at first sight, it also inspired her to pursue ice skating. She became one of his avid fans since then. (buying merch, watching all his competitions)
- But at the end of that year's winter he got into an accident during his routine and broke his leg. It now prevents him to do any strenuous activities which led him to be an ice skating coach.
- Nobody lasts long with coach Gray as he is cold, strict and downright scary they mostly last a week before they quit.
- Early Spring Juvia decides to visit Fairy Tail skating rink, she meets gray and tries to persuade him to coach her but he refuses each time
- Lucy runs away from home and moves to Magnolia. She is roommates with her friend Levy who works as an editor/translator.
- Lucy goes to Fairy Tail ice rink, while she is having her internal pep talk. Natsu sees her and calls her a weirdo for staring at the building for too long.
- Lucy then finds Aquarius, her mother's friend and fellow competitor and tried to convince her to be her coach. She performed her mother's routine to convince her and she succeeds.
- Natsu occasionally comes to watch (or hides) during Lucy's practice but Aquarius... she's kinda scary. He claims Aquarius can see through his ninja mode. He likes how energetic Lucy is about skating and they start practicing together.
- Natsu gave her a tour of fairy tail and finally into the skater's lounge where she meets Natsu's cat Happy. He challenged her to a videogame battle.
- Gray and Juvia start their coaching sessions and became acquaintances, she offered to treat him to ice cream after each session it's the least she could she says.
- There's going to be a cherry blossom viewing event in Fairy Tail and Natsu invites Lucy to view rainbow sakura trees with him but she get sick on the day. He instead plucks off a branch and leaves it in the window of her apartment.
- Take 2: Lucy invites Natsu to a picnic date but not a date so they can watch the sakura trees together even if there's only a few now. (it's the start of their romance)
- Lucy and Juvia meet for the first time. They meet at the cafeteria when Natsu and Lucy is buying snacks for the picnic date. Gray and Juvia just finished practice and are taking a rest there. Gray introduces Juvia to them, he also starts teasing Natsu while tries to hide his embarrassment. Gray notices Natsu treats Lucy different.
- Gray telling Juvia about Fantasia and to take notes from it, it will help her with training according to Gray.
- Lucy and Juvia meet Erza for the first time. Erza finally got her free time from practice.
- All Fairy Tail skaters prepare for Fantasia. Lucy participates in Fantasia wearing the Aquarius stardress.
- Gruvia training session (going to more complicated skating stuff); Juvia now seldom goes to swim practice as she finds skating more fun.
- The whole ft gang talk about the nationals in the cafeterias. They start preparing for prelims.
- Lucy and Levy spent hours researching about nationals but she would still be nervous and Lucy calls Natsu for advice since it's her very first competition. He went to her apartment but climbs through the window and Levy spots him. She hits him with a broom thinking he was burglar. "RUN AWAY LU SAVE YOURSELF DON'T WORRY I GOT THIS!"
- When Levy is working on her editing/translating job on her laptop, she is wearing earphones and Lucy asks for her help. Levy: "Just a minute Lu I'll just finish this up and-" then a certain song will plays and she puts her laptop on speakers so Lucy can hear. That's the perfect song for her routine.
- Nalu helping each other with their practice, they mess around half the time then a random song played "I don't want to miss a thing" they danced to it and have a moment. They finally realize their feelings for each other and start being a bit awkward.
- Juvia thinks about participating to the tournament but is still very reluctant about it. Gray finds out her swimming history. Swim coach gets suspicious since she doesn't attend swim practice that often.
- Juvia completely stops coming to swimming practices to focus on her skating prelims. She also clears things up with her swim coach and tells that she won't attend swim practice anymore. The coach isn't that happy about this.
- Gray slowly falls for Juvia but isn't aware of it, Natsu comes in term with his feelings for Lucy; Lucy still in denial of her own feelings.
- Juvia gets the lowest rank for prelims.
- Gray and Gajeel meet for the first time. Both of them try to cheer Juvia up.
- Lucy's Dad finds out where she is and Capricorn calls her on her phone.
- Natsu noticed Lucy is feeling a bit downs and cheers her up by inviting her to the Magnolia's annual fireworks display.
- Swim coach finds tries to discourage her after her failure in the prelims and persuades her to go back to swimming (the coach will say she is better off in swimming rather than skating and that she is just wasting her time with it) Juvia refuses and has final confrontation with her coach standing up for her decision to continue with what makes her happy.
- Juvia and Lucy talk about Juvia's confrontation with her swim coach. She is asking for advice since her dad called.
- Lucy finally accepts her feelings for Natsu since they also broached the subject.
- Gray and Natsu talks about their girls and their feelings.
- After two weeks is the second part of Prelims; Gray motivates Juvia with their kiss deal, Juvia lost but still gets that kiss from Gray. Gray was going to kiss her cheek as a surprise reward even if she lost but Gajeel called Juvia to congratulate her, the exact moment she turned her head Gray kissed accidentally kissed her in the lips instead.
- Everyone is preparing for Finals.
- Confrontation between Lucy and her dad in FT rink; Natsu is also there. Lucy stands her ground against her father and tells him she'll continue with her dreams no matter what he says.
- The FT gang go on a vacation period in the mountains so they wont be exhausted/ get stressed for finals.
- Finals in Crocus, Lucy finished in top 3 winning a silver medal. She was so happy she kissed Natsu and confessed to him right then and there. Natsu reciprocates her feelings.
- It ends with a Ft style victory party.
Hello everyone, it's been quite some time! Unfortunately this is not a new chapter. Since both of us have been busy with other stuff and we have moved on from fairy tail, this fanfic won't ever be completed but we thought we could share with you our plans for the story! This is an au we loved and worked on a lot and it still has a special place in our hearts! At least we hope to give it closure by posting the original plotline.
