Doing a different style for the specials, hope you enjoy! If you haven't read Wings of Fire books 1-10, I advise avoiding this...assuming there IS anyone who hasn't read them reading this...

Riptide enters the home of the five Heroes of Destiny. He sees them dressed up while sitting at a table. "Hey! You guys are really into the spirit of Halloween! I'm impressed." He smiled while they looked at him with confusion.

Tsunami spoke up. "Halloween?"

Starflight responded. "I think it's some kind of holiday? I don't know too much about it though…"

Riptide stared with his mouth open. "So, why are you dressed up?" he asked worriedly.

Clay smiled at him. "Sunny thought it would be fun to recreate the Seawing massacre skit like when we were little."

Riptide decided not to ask. "Umm, are you guys going to the Jade mountain halloween party at least?"

Glory nodded. "After Starflight kills me and Clay, we will. Now go before Starflight adds you to the list." Tsunami chucked a piece of crow in defence of her "totally not boyfriend".

(Riptide leaves them to it and enters the Jade mountain main hall, where the Jade winglet are hanging out)

Moon and Kinkajou wore matching Elf costumes, Moons was black while Kinkajou was pink. Winter wore a King's robe and crown. Qibi, to Winter's annoyance, wore a traditional Icewing Queens attire that just so happened to match Winter's. Turtle and Umber wore a scarecrow and swamp monster respectively and finally Carnelian wore an angel costume.

Riptide sat down next to Peril who was wearing a gladiator uniform. "So, who was supposed to tell the five what Halloween was again?" Peril rolled her eyes.

Deathbringer. I told them about lovers day. Also had to put up with Glory and Tsunami being annoying listeners for two hours, so thanks for that."

Riptide smirked at her then looked over to the Jade winglet. "What do you guys plan on doing for Halloween?"

Turtle spoke. "The School is having a party and we want to participate in the costume contest."

Kinkajou smiled. "And Moon and I are going to win the doubles contest!"

Qibli stuck his tongue out at her. "No way! Winter and I are going to! Right honey?" He mocked while hugging Winter.

Winter growled at him. "Shut...UP!" And pushed the Sandwing off. The group laughed while Winter seemed to regret telling Qibli about his costume pick. After a while, the five walked in, wearing normal clothes though Clay had a bag Riptide assumed was full of costumes. Deathbringer walked in after them dressed in a much more expensive scarecrow costume.

They sat down next to Peril and Riptide and Clay received a hug from Peril, his clothes started steaming a little bit before she pulled away.

Clay looked around at the hall full of people and decorations, all with the spirit of the festivities that they gathered for.

"This place looks awesome!"

Tsunami rolled her eyes. "You're just happy that the Seawings brought red claw's."

Clay's stomach growled. "They're amazing! You just don't know what good food is."

Sunny gagged and Glory chuckled.

Riptide grabbed some corn on a stick. "Hey, what ARE you guys dressing up as?"

Sunny reached into the bag and pulled out a fake armor looking set that was pure yellow, a little hard on the eyes.

"I'm going as Hyperion! The titan of light or something!" It was obviously homemade…

Glory spoke. "I'm going as a 'Hero of Destiny'" And didn't elaborate further. Tsunami grabbed a bottle of green hair dye and a shirt that looked very similar to Glory's.

"I'm going as a sarcastic teenager." Glory rolled her eyes.

Clay shifted in his seat. "Peril said she had an extra gladiator uniform I could use." Peril smiled and nodded.

Starflight put everything back in the bag. "Fatespeaker and I are going as Darkstalker and Clearsight. Hopefully, Seashell agreed to dress as Fathom."

Riptide nodded to the responses. "So, Deathbringer didn't convince you to dress up?" The Nightwing in question crossed his arms.

"She thinks that she's too old for it." Glory elbowed his side lightly.

After the food was finished and everyone got into costume, the school teachers started the events for the night.

Riptide stole Tsunami away from the others to have some fun with just the two of them.

"So, does anything look fun?" He smiled.

Tsunami scanned the main hall and ended up choosing a test your strength machine, which Turtle was also at.

"Hey Tsunami, Riptide." Turtle greeted as he looked at the prizes.

The two waved and Tsunami showed the Sandwing teacher her bracelet. She took the hammer and prepared to swing down as hard as she could, after holding it up and slamming it down as hard as she could and got it about halfway.

"What? I hit it way harder than that!" She growled while the teacher handed her a small pink flower plush which she handed to Turtle.

Riptide smiled at her. "You do know the trick to that thing, right?" She shook her head. "You need to hit it in the center, otherwise it won't go that high."

She thought for a second then tried the game again. This time, she hit the top and received a giant tooth plant plush as her reward. She smiled as she was given the toy.

"Want me to hold that for you?" Riptide asked.

Tsunami raised her eyebrow. "No way, I earned this."

Riptide decided to look for another game they could play, then he saw one that they could play together. "How about the sack toss? Whoever gets the lowest score buys snacks."

Tsunami grinned. "Your on also, I like potato chunks with tomato sauce on it."

"HOW!?" Tsunami asked Riptide who was winning.

"You'd think a highly trained warrior would have better aim." Qibli said, he walked over after seeing Tsunami's frustration.

"I can shove this down your throat if you'd like!" She responded while Riptide scored another point.
Riptide decided to step in. "Aren't you supposed to be trying to get Winter on board for the duel costume even?"

Qibli straightened out his dress. "It won't be funny if he agrees."

Tsunami looked about ready to break the goal post. "Let's just call it." She fumed. "Meat pies, right?"

"I'm not actually hungry, just knew you'd be more likely to play if it was a challenge." Tsunami could tell he was lying but decided to not push it.

After some more games, Tsunami and Riptide met up with everyone else near the stage. The costume contest was about to start.
Sunny struggled to move in her costume. "Hey umm, could you help me take off the helmet?" She asked Tsunami.

"Told you to buy one." Tsunami said while taking it off.

Riptide turned to Deathbringer who was pestering Glory. "What did you two do?"

The Nightwing pointed to a bobbing for apples game. "Glory didn't know you weren't supposed to eat the apple while under there. I thought she was about to drown."
"You didn't tell me how the game worked!" Glory said while hitting Deathbringer with a potato slice.

Sunny stole a piece of food off of Tsunami's plate while she wasn't looking. "So, are Clay and Peril actually going to do the costume contest?"

Deathbringer nodded. "They actually look pretty good in their costumes. Clay's is gold and Peri's is crimson."

Riptide looked around the area trying to see where Starflight and Fatespeaker were. He spotted them in the distance alongside who he believed was Seashell.

The three came over to watch the contest. "Hey, you're Riptide right? I'm Seashell." The younger Seawing greeted Riptide. The two shook hands.

"Hey Seashell. So, how did you meet these two?" Riptide asked.

The Seawing stared at the ground. "I umm...kinda tried to kill them a year ago…"
Deathbringer patted him on the back. "We've all been there, bud. They did look pretty killable back then." Sunny rolled her eyes.

"Hush, it's about to start." Glory said and Seashell took a seat next to Fatespeaker and Starflight.

A Skywing wearing white robes, signifying that they were a teacher, took to the stage. "Thank you all for coming! Jade academy is happy to have all of you here to enjoy the carnival! All money made will be used to help improve the school! Now, let's give a round of applause to the competitors, first the singles competition!" The Skywing introduced the people competing so the group waited for people they knew to be called.

Starflight nudged Tsunami. "Where's Moon and the others? They should be here to watch Winter and Qibli."

"Probably doing something else, I don't know." She muttered as an Icewing wearing a crystal like uniform left the stage.

Starflight looked around the hall. "Should we go look for them?" He asked Riptide.

Tsunami shook her head. "No, if they're going to get in trouble for what they're doing, they know." She grumbled.

Riptide sat in silence next to Tsunami for a couple more contenders. "Umm, so you came here a few weeks ago to visit Turtle and Anemone, right?"
Tsunami nodded.

"How did that go?" He asked.

She shrugged. "Not much happened. They seemed more interested in a strange amulet so we didn't really do much."

Riptide tapped his foot.

Some more students walked on to the stage then left.

"I think guests are allowed to walk around the school, want to show me around the school?" He asked her, she seemed extremely bored.

"Sure." She said and the two got up to leave.

Starflight looked at them. "We'll save your seats."

Tsunami and Riptide walked around the corner and headed outside, leading to the gardens on their way to the classrooms. The red and green plants were replaced by pumpkins and brown flowers.

"It's pretty beautiful. How much did it cost Glory?" Riptide asked.

Tsunami glanced at the greenery. "A lot. She spends a decent amount to not have to be a part of it's board. The other Queens are still trying to get her more involved."
Riptide stared at a pumpkin carved like a creepy, fanged beast. "What's the deal with that? I thought Sunny at least would help?"

Tsunami shook her head. "No, we're a little focused on getting the Rainforrest kingdom up to par with the other tribes. We're lucky that most Nightwings don't actually care that a Rainwing is in charge."

"Being away from that volcano, they would probably be fine with an Icewing leading them." Riptide laughed.

Tsunami didn't understand the joke. "No, they're is still a lot of anti Icewing sentiment. It makes negotiating with Icewings nearly impossible. Though Glory seems fine with it."
"I'm going to guess there's a story there?" He asked with a grin.

Tsunami returned the grin. "Yeah, we sorta had an issue with being held prisoner for a while."

Riptide sighed. "Who HAVEN'T you guys been captured by?"

Tsunami rubbed her chin. "Umm, the Mudwings actually. Though we weren't there for very long."

The two chatted on they're way to the classrooms. The long hallway had different classes on each side of the walls. Bookshelves, carpets and other materials laid in each class, though what was in the books could tell passersby what the classroom would teach.

"So umm, my dad teaches in that class?" Riptide pointed to an entrance covered with the blue Seawing colors.

Tsunami gave a small nod. "You want to go see it?"

"Can we?"

"You can. I'll stay out here." Tsunami muttered.

The classroom felt very much like Riptide's father. Well, the bits he knew about him. The books that lined the walls didn't seem to have much for the students and were more personal reads. He also had different puzzles. (He supposedly gives a lot of tests so he needs to entertain himself) The carpets matched the outer entrance and seemed to be less comfy than the other teachers. But what caught Riptides attention was a small amulet hung on his wall. The one Riptide gave him when they first met.

"Done?" Tsunami said when Riptide left the room with a small smile on his face.

"Yeah, let's go see the dorms." he nodded.

The dorms were much further in the mountain, but the two eventually made it. The Jade Winglet was at the end of the cave and had three caves. Moon and Kinkajou shared one, Winter, Qibli and Turtle shared another, and Umber and Carnelian shared the last one. Tsunami peered inside Turtles dorm, making sure not to enter it.

Riptide gazed into the room. "Your brother has good choice in Racket ball."

Tsunami rolled her eyes. "That's Rainfall's doing. Turtle doesn't actually care about sports."
Turtle had a Seawing poster above his bed and his desk had small pictures of a family photo with him, Rainfall, Queen Coral, Anemone and Gill. He also had a wanted poster of Tsunami next to the pictures.

"Still haven't gotten a good photo yet?" Riptide asked.

The other Seawing snarled. "They always turn out wrong."
"You do smile kinda weird." Riptide said with a straight face, he received a light punch on the shoulder.

"You know, the school really is nice. Kinda wish I went here when I was their age." Riptide muttered.

"Yeah." Tsunami responded.

The two stood in silence, looking down the hallway. Riptide flashed his hair twice with a decently long gap in between.

Tsunami flashed a quicker response.

(Remember when we practiced Seaspeak?)

(I know I favorite letter, Squid brain!)

Riptide felt like his stomach was about to burst from laughter. "You said you were practicing!"

Tsunami smiled in defense. "I AM! You gave me a book to learn!"

"I didn't know you wouldn't read it!" He said while standing up.

Tsunami crossed her arms. "I don't like books, ok?"

The two stood there for a long while, the dark hallway glowed light blue and green from the attempt at speaking Tsunami tried to do and Riptide making jokes.

Starflight woke up when Tsunami poked his side.
"What did we miss?" She asked him.

Starflight rubbed his eyes. "Not much, I think the duel costumes are on now."

"SHH! Clay and Peril are on!" Fatespeaker whispered.

Clay and Peril walked on stage, their armor was well polished and matched surprisingly well, as cool as it looked though, they didn't have any symbols on the armor so they were already losing points. Peril just seemed happy to be up there with Clay and Clay, in return, was just happy to see her happy.

"Let's give it to the armor wearers!" The announcer said as the crowd clapped.

Sunny clapped louder than anyone. "They looked awesome!"

Glory shrugged. "They weren't bad, but I'm still rooting for the royal Icewing couple."

Deathbringer snickered as said *couple* walked on stage. Winter looked about ready to kill Qibli who had the biggest smile ever.

Sunny clapped along with everyone else. "I think they're going to win."

Seashell nodded.

Riptide thought he heard a crash and turned to see Kinkajou and Carnelian carrying something. He decided not to question it just yet and turned back to the stage where the teacher wrapped up the demonstrations.

"And now we can crown our winner's! Let's give a round of applause to our third place team, Kraken and Igneus!" A Seawing and Skywing stood up and bowed, they wore dragon outfits. "Second place, Spruce and Howler!" A Rainwing and another Icewing stood up, a wolf outfit and a red cloak was worn by the two. "And our winners are, Qibli and Winter!" Winter remained in his seat until Qibli forced him up.

Glory chuckled while Deathbringer laid his head on her shoulder. She shoved him off while he laughed.

Tsunami felt a rumble in her pocket and took out Turtle's 'Connect stone' (He REALLY needs to work on his names) The older Seawing rolled her eyes. "The winglet needs some help, want to come?" She asked Riptide who nodded.
Starflight looked over. "I'm coming too, there's not much left to do here."
Fatespeaker stood up with him. "Me too!"

"Glory?" Starflight asked.

The Rainwing shook her head. "Deathbringer and I are going to get something to eat. Oh, and Seashell, you're coming with us."

The Seawing blinked with a surprised look. "Oh, ok!"

The four friends walked along the garden again. Fatespeaker skipped along while humming a Nightwing jingle. Starflight gazed at the stars, from Jade mountain you could see the twin planets constellation, Starflights favorite.

"So, is Seashell the kind of person I would like to hang around?" Riptide asked and Tsunami shrugged.

"He's pretty awkward if he doesn't know you, but after a while he can be pretty funny. Too bad he's a terrible fighter." Tsunami seemed to reminisce about they're battle all that time ago.

Starflight smiled. "I've heard that Deathbringer has been training him. He claims that Seashell is a worthy opponent, if you ever want to take the offer."

"I might." She said with a grin.

Fatespeaker rolled her eyes. "Who cares about fighting?"

"Cough, Weakling! Cough." Tsunami spoke and received a punch to the arm by Starflight.

"Where are we going exactly?" Riptide asked. "The rock didn't tell us anything."

Starflight and Tsunami gave each other a knowing look. "If they need my help, then there's only one place they'll be." Tsunami muttered.

Starflight messed his hair back to normal. "The potion lab." As he said it, a loud explosion was heard from the teacher's hallway. Screams from Turtle and Anemone made their older sister take to a sprint as she called their names.

"IF YOU TWO GET YOURSELVES KILLED I WILL KILL YOU!"

Riptide looked to Fatespeaker as Starflight followed Tsunami. The two followed shortly after.

The potion lab, once decorated with different scary looking ingredients to match the holiday spirit, now was filled with purple slime that glowed like the moons. Moon and Kinkajou stood in a corner while Carnelian attempted to take off a slug-like creature that matched the color of the slime. It seemed to be leeching on to the Seawing until Tsunami ripped it off, luckily it wasn't biting Turtle.

Starflight ran to Moon and stomped another slug that inched towards the two girls.

"What happened?" He asked as some more slugs seemed to crawl out of the cauldron.

Moon messed with her hands while she explained.

"We saw a potion recipe that would give us a cool pet…" She muttered.

Tsunami lifted Fatespeaker with little effort as a couple of slugs jumped near her. "And you decided to make it without getting a teacher?!" Tsunami barked as she was still holding the Nightwing.

Turtle gave a weak response. "We didn't think we needed help…"

"WELL NOW YOU DO!" Tsunami yelled as she kicked a slug into a desk. "Where's Anemone?"

Turtle yelped as Carnelian swatted another slug away from him. Riptide headed over to help the Skywing. "She was supposed to stand watch."

Fatespeaker clung onto Tsunami as more slugs hopped out of the cauldron. "Moon, get that crimson root! That should dissolve the potion!"

Moon nodded and searched the brown cabinet. After scouring, she found the dark red root with thorns and tossed it to Riptide who grit his teeth as some of the thorns pricked his hand. He turned it to make sure it didn't worsen his hand. Crimson roots were known for how sharp their thorns were but Riptide made sure to get the root in the cauldron before he fixed his hand. He jumped over a slug then kicked one away as he slowly reached the cauldron. He dropped the root in and watched as the purple liquid turned red, then green and finally, white. The slugs stopped crawling out and the group disposed of the remaining slugs as Anemone came into the room with a drink.

"What did I miss?" her eyes widened as she saw Tsunami, who was still holding Fatespeaker. "Umm, he-"

"WHAT WERE YOU TWO THINKING?!" Tsunami shouted as she let Fatespeaker down who then ran and hugged Starflight.

Riptide put his hand on Tsunami's shoulder. "Let's talk about this later, I think some of us need to rest."

The twins shrank a bit when Tsunami glared at them then sighed in agreement. The Jade winglet and Anemone promised to clean the room while the older ones left to go tell one of the teachers what happened. Fatespeaker grabbed Starflights hand while they walked and Riptide tried to lighten Tsunami's mood.

"Hey! That was at least kinda fun. Don't you miss fighting creatures like that?"

Tsunami tightened her fist. "When those two weren't involved, definitely."

Starflight guessed where the conversations was going to go. "Hey, why don't you two hang out in the garden while we go and tell Professor Twilight about the accident?"
Riptide nodded and Tsunami walked over to a railing and stared at the forest deep below the mountain. Riptide waited for the other two to get out of ear shot and he stood beside Tsunami.

"You DO know that the two of them can take care of themselves, right?" He asked her with a worried expression.

Tsunami didn't return his look and stared at the border of the Skywing kingdom that was so far away. "Yeah, but what if they meet something they can't beat? All they do is get into trouble. Sometimes from each other…"

"Is this about *That* incident?" He muttered.

Tsunami glared at the forest below them. "I messed up once. I'm never going to let that happen again."

The other Seawing wanted to argue against this. He had tried before but to no avail. Tsunami seemed to be the only person who blamed herself for it. (Though only a few people actually knew about it, her family wasn't any of them) "Don't you think that you're underestimating them? They're not weak, you know."

Tsunami rolled her eyes. "Magic can only get you so far. I just wish that they would ask for help more often."

The two stared at the three moons. The stars surrounding them made it look like a giant portrait.

Riptide took one of the flowers from a vine and held it carefully in his hands. "You know, I met a Seawing that didn't like asking for help. Not only did they refuse help to fight, they also got upset when I offered to help them learn our language."

Tsunami raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? And what were your feelings on the?"

Riptide smiled. "She learned to ask for help. Not when her fre-family got mad at her, but when they showed her how much it scared them when she went on her own. And when she asked me for help, I learned that they were the perfect person for me." He said while giving her the flower.

Tsunami took the orange flower and smiled at Riptide. "You really are cheesy." She muttered and wrapped her arms around him. Riptide returned the embrace and the two stood for a while, neither wanting to let go.

"So, how was the holiday?" Peril asked the others as they left the school.

Tsunami and the twins talked it out, she scolded them for not realizing that they should have asked for help sooner but she was glad that they knew to ask for help eventually. Luckily, the winglet wouldn't be punished too severely, since no one got hurt. They would have detention for a week with Webs.

Glory shrugged. "Fine I guess. The costumes were cool to see."

Deathbringer grasped her hand and lifted it up. "Next year, we'll win the doubles contest!"

The Rainwing rolled her eyes while Sunny laughed.

Clay scratched his chin. "I liked it! Especially thanks to the costume. It looked really cool." Peril grinned and held her head a bit higher.

Starflight handed a candy ball to Seashell. "I could do with less candy. What if kids eat to much of it and get sick?"

Tsunami smiled widely as she took a lick of a sugar stick. "Then they learn a powerful lesson on understanding their limits."

Riptide rolled his eyes. "Will you have that opinion in the morning when you have a massive headache?"

The other Seawing stuck out her tongue and continued eating it.

Hey! Sorry for how short this one was. I had a very different idea for it (Involving Darkstalker haunting the school) but scrapped it. So, you guys might have noticed that Starflight was missing a certain, item. Well, I kinda forgot about it until halfway through and decided to not fix it. Feel free to make fun of me for it, I deserve it. Next, is this cannon to the story I'm writing? No. Elements are, but this story never actually takes place. It's just a fun little story. Who were the characters that aren't in the main story? Well, Seashell and Twilight will be characters that I will add! Mostly to extend the story and add relationships to the five main characters. Are Turtle and Anemone actually twins? No. At least not that I'm aware of. But, due to the way I'm writing this and plans I have for arc II, they are. Why did I pick the costumes for the characters? Well, despite me not being a big fan of arc II, I did enjoy Qibli and WInter interactions (More so than them and Moon) So I thought it would be funny to add them the way I did. Moon and Kinkajou were wood elves and Carnelian...yeah. (Umber and Turtle were created for a friend) Everyone else just felt like it kinda fit. (Glory not wanting to be a part and Deathbringer being flashy)

Finally, why not arc III characters? As much as I love arc III, I wanted this to take place before Darkstalker awakens so here it is. Though I did have a small idea for Cricket and Starflight to be dressed as mad scientists and Fatespeaker gets a little jealous when Starflight has a deep conversation with Cricket.

Finally, finally. Why focus on Riptide and Tsunami? I'm biased. Tsunami's my favorite character in the series and I really wish we got more of her and her biological family. (What would happen if they found out about how Gill actually died?) Each special will focus on a different character. (Not exclusive to arc I) Debating if I'll do a Christmas special, probably not though. I hope you all enjoyed it!
