To Woo A Genius
Chapter 10 – Derek's Wish
Derek's recovery was slow but relatively painless. The doctor ordered him to rest for six weeks, thankfully for Reid's sanity, he only tried pushing it at week 4. "You really shouldn't be straining," the genius fussed as Derek did some exercises in the living room.
"Baby this ain't my first rodeo, I know what I'm doing," Derek tried to assure him.
"Riiightt," Reid intoned, clearly not buying. "You forget we've been working together for years. I know how many times you've reinjured yourself stupidly."
"And you clearly forget that I know exactly how many times you've injured yourself stupidly in the first place."
"That is irrelevant," Reid gave him a glass of water. "Just please, there's only a couple weeks left. We'll go to your appointment and then your doctor will clear you and you can go…scale a skyscraper for all I care."
Derek looked contemplative while sipping his water slowly. "Alright babe," he said at last. "I'll make you a deal. I'll be a good patient until my appointment but I'm cashing in my wish right now."
Reid frowned, "I don't follow, what wish?"
"Bones? Artifacts vs remains, remember? Now by our terms, you can't really say no but I'm willing to sweeten the deal. My cooperation for yours."
Spencer crossed his arms, "And what exactly do you wish for?"
"I wanna take you on a date – tomorrow." Derek pulled him in close. "After work, you're gonna come home, get changed and then leave the rest to me. Let me spoil you without any fuss."
"What's in it for you?"
"Being able to love on you uninterrupted for any stretch of time is heaven for me."
Spencer rolled his eyes, "Alright, alright, I'm already in a relationship with you, you don't have to flirt."
Derek tapped his nose, "See that right there? That's what you're not going to do on our date. And for the record, I'm gonna flirt with you for the rest of your life. That's not going to change."
"I don't mind," Reid said timidly. Using his lover's neck, he gently levered himself up to kiss him softly. Tiny moans escaping as the hands splayed on his back pulled him closer, held him tighter, and roved over him, resting on the curve of his bum. The hands squeezed and Reid keened, throwing his head back. Derek growled and walked them to the couch, urging him to lie down. He pinned Reid's hands above them while his mouth attacked his lips, neck and collar. Their legs threaded, they rolled against each other through denim and khaki. It wasn't nearly enough for either of them but it was still so perfect. A several heated moments, they paused, panting.
Derek brushed the hair out of his eyes, "So that's a yes?"
Spencer laughed outright, breaking the moment and slapped Morgan's chest. "Oh just get off me – and yes."

"Come on, let's go," Morgan cheerfully dropped Reid's go bag right across the genius's keyboard while he was typing.
Reid frowned, "Go where?"
"Our date smarty pants," Derek pulled him and his chair out and tried yanking him to his feet.
"Derek it's three o'clock," Spencer protested. "We can't leave yet. And why do I need my bag?"
"You'll need what's in the bag. Plus it's Friday and we have a bit of a journey ahead of us, so I asked Hotch to leave a little early. He's fine with it." Reid's eyes went to the Unit Chief's only to find said chief by his door watching him. Now that he was looking, the entire team was out staring him, silently willing him to get his ass off that chair and go. JJ and Garcia gave him the eyes, the crossed arms, and the light foot stomp.
Knowing he had worse odds than Schrodinger's cat, he got up and picked up the bag. "Fine, I'm leaving, I'm leaving."
"Good boy," Derek looped an arm around his shoulders and kissed his head while leading him out. Spencer initially thought that maybe Derek meant to take him camping or something but that theory went out the window when his new boyfriend pulled into the long term parking range of the train station.
"Derek…"
"Spencer…"
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see."

"New York!" Spencer exclaimed as they reached the Amtrak platform. "Morgan you can't be serious!"
"Dead serious," Derek handed over their tickets to be checked. Once cleared, they made their way to the second floor where there was an actual attendant for their compartment which was a full-on bedroom! There was not one but two sinks, a shower and private washroom, seating that extended into a bed. She explained the meal service was included and that she was on call for whatever they needed. Derek flashed his winning smile and asked for the bed to be turned down early, explaining they had just come from work and wanted to relax. To her credit, the attendant didn't so much smirk as she did smile knowingly and nodded before going in to take care of it. Reid flushed and Derek held his hand, rubbing a smoothing thumb over it.
"Can't believe you," Spencer whispered.
"You promised no fussing baby," Morgan murmured back. "This is still my wish and I want to cuddle with my genius comfortably for the next five hours." The attendant came out and ushered them in with a promise to knock ahead of when dinner would be ready. The door slid shut behind her and the pair put their bags down. "Get changed, there are some pajama pants and a t-shirt in your bag." Derek himself shucked off his work clothes and donned a pair of sweats and a vest. He also dropped the shade on the window. "And hit the lights baby."
Spencer smiled ruefully having changed his clothes. He turned off the lights and crawled onto the bed to lay down, facing Derek . "You know, I don't remember this or any of those clothes being in my go bag before."
"You're stupidly oblivious when you're jonesing for a caffeine hit. I asked Garcia to go home at lunch and get some stuff."
Reid smiled in the semi-darkness, "Home? I don't think you've ever said that before."
Derek grabbed his hand, "I haven't?"
"You told me before the takedown of Hass that you'd always come home to me but you've never called the apartment home."
"Oh. Is that okay?"
"It's wonderful," Reid pecked his cheek.
Derek beamed, "I'll talk to my landlord when we get back and clear out my place."
Reid grinned giddily, "I'll have cable installed by then."
"I'm definitely renovating that bathroom."
"We need shelves for the closet."
"And a bigger bed."
"Storage is more important."
"Comfort is necessary too."
"The kitchen could do with an update."
"Probably have to move some furniture around."
Reid snorted, "At this rate we should just buy a house."
Derek paused, suddenly quite serious, "We could…"
Reid sobered up too, "We could." They simply stared at each other for a long moment. The train rumbled and shook under them. Reid was aware of every breath through his parted lips. He tried wet them and nervously edged closer, "Clooney would have a backyard."
Derek mirrored him, "You'd have a study."
"You'd have a gym."
Derek pulled him to his chest, "A guest room for your mom."
Reid cupped his face, "And for yours and your sisters."
"Dinner with the team."
"Babysitting Henry."
Derek jolted at the image that conjured and pressed their foreheads together, "We are going way too fast."
"No," Reid shook his head. "This is perfect. I want this. I want you and I want us."
"It's been a month -"
"It's been several months," Reid corrected him. A flood of emotions built up inside him and began to overflow, "Several. Of you and me. And yes I know we weren't intimate during that time and yes I was grieving Mae but every time I looked around, you were there by my side. The way you touch me, the way you kiss me, the way it feels when I'm in your arms is incredible. But it will never compare to how it feels knowing that you're here with me. My home is with you. Derek I -" Morgan cut him off with a kiss, deep and demanding while rolling him onto his back. Derek drew one hand down the length of his lover, over his pants to press against his core. Reid nearly choked at the gesture, whining in the back of his throat.
"Breathe baby, breathe," Derek loosened his control just a little, just enough to let his darker desires come up to his lips. He whispered his wicked wants right into the genius's ear; each image he conjured more depraved and indulgent than the last. All the while he continued to palm his centre, squeezing randomly. Spencer tried to hold out, make the moment last but it became too much and he seized, his back coming off the bed and then snapping back down as he shook from head to toe. The flood of endorphins weighed on his eyes but he was conscious of Morgan cleaning him up and coming back to bed. The last thing he remembered before sleep took him was Derek's arm around his stomach, anchoring him then the world faded away.
