Chapter 5.
Liv grabbed her hunting bag and had started putting on her boots when Sam walked into her bedroom stopping in his tracks. "What do you think you're doing?" he asked suspiciously.
"Getting ready for the hunt," she replied, simply.
"Absolutely not. You're staying here."
Liv balked, "What? No way! This is my operation they've targeted. I'm going."
He checked to make sure his gun was loaded and glared at her. "No. You're not."
Liv scoffed, "And how do you plan on keeping me here? You can't use salt, or iron and it's not like you can lock me in my own apartment." She raised an eyebrow at him. "And I know for a fact that your handcuffs are currently broken."
A grin flashed across his face but was gone in an instant. "You really think flirting is going to change my mind?"
Liv shrugged. "It was worth a shot." She finished lacing her boots as Sam tucked his gun in his jeans.
"You're staying here and that's final," he said in a firm voice.
Liv glared at him, "You can't stop me Sam."
"Like hell I can't," he said and grabbed for her bag, but Liv was too quick for him.
"I expect this kind of stuff from Dean, but not from you. What the hell is going on?"
"I don't know what you mean," he said, avoiding her gaze. "Look, you're not coming. I can take care of this without you."
"Oh really? Who's gonna be your backup? Dean isn't exactly in tip top shape and who knows if we can even trust Benny. Face it Sam, I'm all you've got. Besides, this is my mess. I should be the one to clean it up."
"Don't argue with me Georgie, not now. Please, just stay here."
"No! Not unless you tell me why you're being so weird."
"I'm not! I just need you to be safe."
"Why? I've been hunting since I was a kid, I can take care of myself. You know that. I've saved your ass before. You're being completely irrational!"
"I just don't wanna lose you!" he blurted, running his hands through his hair. He paced around her room, visibly agitated and nervous "I just got you back, and I am not ready to let you go! Not again. I won't."
Liv was touched by his sudden outburst, but it didn't change anything. "Look, if Luis really has been turned, you can bet he told the other fangs where my operation is and where I live. I'll be a sitting duck if I stay here." Liv strode over to him, grasped his face, and brushed back a wild strand of hair. "The safest place for me, is with you and you know it," she said with conviction.
Sam closed his eyes and leaned into her hand. "Please stay here," he whispered with a pleading look in his eyes.
Liv rolled her eyes while she strode away from him, slinging her bag over her shoulder as she went. "You know as well as I do that if I stay here, I will go out of my mind with worry and end up doing something stupid." She stood in the doorway of her room and glanced back at Sam. "And I'm not ready to lose you either."
