Chapter 28: Pharaoh's Blessing
A great beacon of light shone within the throne room, dispensing light within every dark corner. Eyes covered from the intense glare but no monster came forth. Instead, when the light faded to a mere glimmer, eyes gasped and stared in sheer awe.
Hovering above the young woman was a being of the most angelic beauty, it's glorious angel wings spread out at its sides. There was a glint of a dark spot upon its chest, where its heart remained but all in all the sheer light coming from the being was blinding the darkness away.
"By the gods..." It was so immense that it caused a priest to fall to his knees at its beauty.
The Pharaoh himself rose from his dias, walked down the stone steps towards the being above the young woman's prone form.
"What sort of person...Contains such a beautiful soul?" Even he was entranced by the majesty of the being. "It...Almost feels like…"
The soul returned to Hikari's body and she keeled over, breathing hard. That was a very intense experience! It was like her entire form had been ripped apart!
She felt a cloth over her shoulders and discovered the Pharaoh himself had draped her form in his own cape.
"You have nothing to worry about." His deep voice was calm as he spoke to her. "You have a soul that is pure and good. Do not believe otherwise."
Tears fell from her eyes. She was a good person!? Really? The relief she felt was near too much for her to grasp. She fell into his warm embrace.
"Tell me…" His tanned hands wiped away her tears. "What made you believe that your soul, your ka...Is evil?" He asked.
Hikari bit her lip. "Me and my friends...Are trying to stop this thing...this...entity that takes control of people...In a clash...I had briefly merged with it…" Her eyes became downcast. "I...Felt rage...Absolute rage towards me...And…"
The Pharaoh gave her a kind smile.
"Evil tends to hate people such as you." He told her. "It does whatever it can to taint your soul. You must never listen to what evil tells you. You are pure of soul and strong of heart. Doubts and worries, even fears...Should not be within your mind. Your friends are your greatest weapons, greatest protection against these thoughts. It is that bond, that trust...That will keep the darkness at bay."
"Thanks…"
He chuckled. "You remind me of a friend of mine...He gets into trouble constantly but his soul remains pure as the sun in the sky." He stared at her. "Why are you here alone? Where are these friends of yours?"
She broke down again, a motion that caused him to change the topic immediately. All that mattered to right now was that she wasn't evil...her soul was good and pure.
"Shh...Calm yourself...You are safe." He smiled at her. His red eyes gazed upon her. "What is your name, little one?"
"...Hikari...My name's...Hikari…" She felt so tired right now.
A chuckle. "A fine name for one such as you...Do you know what it means?" He brushed aside some hair which had fallen into her lapsed eyes.
"It means light, little one...And you are most certainly worthy to carry such a name. Rest now, I give you my blessing…" He kissed her forehead. "Know that the blessing of a Pharaoh, means protection and care. Sleep now...Under the wings of the gods."
The tug of sleep was too great for Hikari to resist any longer. She succumbed to it, in the warm embrace of the Pharaoh himself.
Thankful the girl was finally out the Pharaoh knew next what to do.
"Isis, Mahaad...See to her." He knew they would make sure she was cared for. "Until her friends arrive, which I am sure they will, we must see she is well cared for."
"It is very obvious what she is…" The advisor came down from the dias as well. "A child of the gods themselves...A sacred star."
"A sign of the Pharaoh's reign?" Another advisor suggested.
"We will not know until she wakes." The Pharaoh allowed Mahaad to pick up the child.
"She will be well protected, Mighty One." Mahaad promised.
"Thank you...Let me know when she wakes."
Silently watching was the blue clothed priest and another, an older one, with a golden eye.
"I believe we know exactly what that child is…" The elder priest told the male beside him.
"Yes…" The blue clothed priest nodded.
She is no sign...She is...A gift…
