Hello! Satoru Taiyo here, welcome to my first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon fanfiction, I'll try my best. The protagonist becomes not only an Umbreon, but the beta version from the 1997 SpaceWorld demo of Pokémon Gold and Silver.

PS: Umbreon is a poison type in the beta, fun!

I'm going to focus on shorter chapters for now, I'll make longer chapters when I get comfortable with it. Jack is named for my grandfather, Jack Braden(1935 - 2016). His last name is pronounced "Dalles", not as in doll-es, da as in stack, back. Dalles. Look up the city "The Dalles, Oregon".

Chapter I: Stuck in a new world.

...

'What? Eevee is evolving!'.

The screen showed pixels of a brown creature flashing, until it was replaced by a darker colored one with gold rings on its ears, tail, and body.

'Your Eevee has evolved into Umbreon!'.

I saved the game almost immediately, grinding your Eevee's(or any Pokémon's) happiness is damn tedious in the second generation. Yep, I'm a Pokémon fan. I've been planning to buy Brilliant Diamond whenever it's released.

I decided to take a afternoon stroll, putting my Gameboy Color up on the desk, and taking my DS, Ol' Reliable, it contains my favorite video games on it. I sat down on my front lawn, under the shade of a peach tree. PMD Sky was inserted in my DS.

The sun was starting to get a bit low, but I had plenty of daylight left to be in it's rays.

Music began playing, the nostalgic theme of Drenched Bluff. "Ahh… it gets me everytime…". My eyelids felt heavy, yet it was only midday. Why was I so tired? I decided I should sleep then, and before I got up to go lay down inside, I simply nodded off right then and there.

'What? Jack is Evolving!'.

"Huh? What the hell?...". Ok, I have no clue what's going on. I then realized, when I spoke, I made some weird sound, like, a digital sound, it sounded like the sound an Umbreon cry in the Pokémon games. "What's wrong with my voice?". Then I stopped, as my whole body started glowing, and I suddenly felt sick to my stomach.

It didn't help when I suddenly began smelling something like sulfur.

"Blech!"

I had no clue what happened after that, my head felt so hazy… I think I fell asleep?

'Sneeze!'

A leaf flew off my nose as I sneezed. I opened my eyes to find myself nearly buried in my clothes. Everything felt wrong, my limbs were all out of place, I felt absolutely terrified when i noticed I was covered in black-gray hair? I could see my nose in a weird way, Like I had a snout!

I clearly wasn't human anymore, what happened to me? I tried standing up, however I couldn't get onto my legs, as I had become a quadruped.

"Okay.. just calm down". I took several deep breaths, and focused more on not being scared. I noticed I looked… familiar when I looked down at my body. I seemed to be a black quadruped animal of some sort, I noted pink-purple rings on my arms? forelegs? I didn't know exactly what to call them anymore.

Same on my legs, except they were harder to spot, the rings were placed so it was hard to see without turning my arms/legs.

"Ok?..."

I managed to completely pull myself from my clothes, as they were too big on me. I sighed, then I immediately stopped, realizing I wasn't where I fell asleep. I was in a forested area, not too different from a temperate forest. I lived not too far away from one, but I definitely didn't fall asleep in one.

I tried to open my backpack, it was a blue and gray one, with 3 sections and a small area I'd put earphones in. I was finally able to open the thing and stuff my clothes into it, as well as the DS that was in my lap when I had fallen asleep. I didn't exactly have the digits to put it in its case…

I have no clue how much time has passed, carrying my bag on my back, I was having trouble getting used to my new body, I'd smell sulfur whenever I felt frustrated. Of course I feel frustrated right now! I'm lost and can't find civilization!

…

'Snap!'

...

I heard a cracking noise. "Holy smokes!...". I was barely able to move out of the way of a falling branch…

Then I felt a great pain flare throughout my head as something struck me. I crawled to get away from clearly falling tree branches, had something struck it? That rotting smell of sulfur began wafting again, I hated that stench. I heard a rustling noise as something darted away from me, the tree, and into the bushes and out of sight. Did that smell scare away something that was going to attack me? Maybe it's not all that bad… it kinda saved me from becoming an animal's snack.

I continued on my course to find my house. So much time passed that I decided to pull out my DS since it had a clock. I was an idiot to forget my phone, I might be able to call someone with it. The DS wasn't too hard to operate, I simply had to press the button. It's an old 2004 model, lava red. After pressing any button, I looked at the time at the corner of the screen. It might be out of synch, because it said 20:14 PM, or 8:14 PM. Weird since it's still light out in March…

Then it hit me. Was I in a different world?...

Oh no…

I had nowhere to go, I could be attacked again at any time… I don't even completely know what I look like.

"Ohh.. oh!"

It took so long, but I realized, dark fur, rings, quadruped, I was an Umbreon!

A weird one though… purple rings.. they're placed a bit differently too. A purple Umbreon, huh..

I was a Pokémon, a fucking Pokémon! Why me though? I have a life, a girlfriend, I missed Addie… how am I supposed to even be with her as some 3 foot tall fox?.. More importantly, how do I get home?..

Ok, this is too much for me, I began to break down in emotions, not noticing the stench.

"Oh God, Addie I'm so sorry… I'm stuck here!...".

Soon my eyes began to hurt so I closed them, and I soon fell asleep...
