After Subaru's departure, Anti Skill arrived in the scene and started the investigation.

"There were zero injuries amongst the general population." Uiharu reported to a black haired girl with glasses wearing the Judgement band.

"Please keep walking forward in an orderly fashion." A female Anti Skill officer told the criminals. She had green hair tied in a ponytail and wore glasses. Also, notable was the band aid on her left cheek.

"Your pyrotechnic abilities weren't so bad. If I guess, you would be around level 3. You propably got caught up in the excitement of your powers and went down the wrong path. Take a good look of yourself and the consequences of your actions and maybe you can make a fresh new start." Kuroko told the third thief in line. He looked at her and at the ground, thinking at what she told him and started walk.

" You were great! Thank you so much!" the tour guide congratulated Saten for saving the child.

" No really, it was nothing..." Saten said kind of shocked. She had a band aid on her cheek, because of the kick she took by the criminal. The mother and her child also thanked her, which put a soft smile on her face. After they left, she sat down on the sidewalk. She remembered what Subaru told her about being a liability. She was feeling down.

"You handled that situation pretty well, Saten! And don't feel bad about what that idiot said. What you did was pretty heroic!" Misaka told Saten, in order to cheer her up.

"Really?" Saten wondered. 'I am still a level 0 after all that time trying. He may be right, I am liability.' she thought while looking at the ground.

"ONEE-SAMA!!! Do not worry! Me, Kuroko Shirai will personally find that pig and arrest him for disrespecting you!!!" Kuroko had jumped onto Misaka' s back while promising her to catch Subaru.

"Kuroko let go of me!" said Misaka clearly annoyed at Kuroko.

"Saten-san, are you hurt?" Uiharu approached Saten asking her about her condition. "I am OK!" she answered her with a smile.

'That's a half truth. I am not completely OK. Being called a liability doesn't really boost confidence...' she thought. She was still caught up with Subaru harsh words towards her.

"By the way, Uiharu-san, how do you even know that guy?" Misaka asked Uiharu, after getting out of Kuroko's grasb by electricuting her lightly.

"Well, we are on the same class, after all..." she said kinda shyly.

"Is he always like that?" she asked Uiharu.

"No, he actually doesn't talk that much...In fact, he kind of popular." she answered.

"WHAT!? HOW COULD A GUY LIKE HIM BE POPULAR?" Misaka shouted from her shock, hearing this information.

Meanwhile

"Achoo!" Subaru sneezed. 'What the hell? Did I catch a cold or something?' he thought, heading towards his apartment complex. He ascended the stairs and found his apartment. It was the last one on this floor. He walked towards it, pulled out his keys and opened the door. He went in.

His apartment looked plain. Nothing too fancy, it only had the essentials. A kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and his bedroom. The only notable thing was a small display case. Subaru took out the gekota he got and put it in it. After that, he dropped his bag on the ground and laid on bed.

"Today was pretty inconvenient..." he whispered reminiscent of what happened that day. The test, the robbery and his confrontation with Railgun. While doing that, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Next Day

"A level 0?! Wow, so you can't do anything?" a black figure that looked like a male student said. There were many others and they were surrounding a Black haired girl.

"Since you are a level 0, why don't you leave Academy City?" another one said.

'Please stop, I made a promise.'

"Yeah, I mean you are completely useless!"

"Worthless!"

'Please stop.'

"Dead weight!"

'Please stop.'

"A pain on everyone's ass!"

'Stop. I beg you.'

"COMPLETE AND UTTER TRASH!"

'JUST STOP PLEASE!'

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

The figures were laughing at her, mocking her lack of esper abilities. Far away from them, stood a black haired boy. He whispered something, but the girl couldn't understand what he said. Except one word.

Liability.

"PLEASE, THAT'S NOT TRUE!!!" Saten screamed as she woke up. 'It was just a nightmare. Still...' her thoughts trailing off. After rubbing her eyes, she checked her clock.

"I still have time before going to school, that's a relief." she said stretching her arms. "What isn't a relief though, is what I just saw...Well, dwelling on it won't really do me any good." she sighed after her monologue.

Meanwhile

"Mhhh..." light mumbling was heard from Subaru's room. The reason for his was the light that was hitting his face. 'I forgot to close the curtains. What an inconvenience...' he thought as he tried to go to sleep again.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*

"Stupid...clock...shut up." Unfortunately for him, his alarm clock started ringing. 'Fuck it, I am getting up. Besides, I have something to do.' With his mind made up, Subaru got up and started getting ready for school.

Timeskip

Subaru had just arrived. As usual, the reaction from the girls and the boys was pretty noticeable .

"Oh my, look at Nomura-kun, his hazel eyes are so dreamy~"

"See what he did yesterday, he was such a hero, despite his scary look~"

"Tch, look at him getting the attention of the girls!"

"I just wanna punch him!"

"But you can't, didn't you see what he did to that car!?"

Subaru paid no mind to the comments and waited patiently. Then, Uiharu and Saten entered the school. Subaru's gaze sharpened. He approached the two.When Saten saw him, she had a surprised and terrified look. "I am g-gonna get going, Uiharu, s-see you in class!" she said waving at her flower wearing friend. "W-wait, Saten-san!" she extended her hand towards Saten to stop her, but it was to no avail. "Hey Kazari." Subaru's voice surprised Uiharu. "Y-yes, Nomura-san?"

"Meet me after classes behind the school building, I wanna tell you something." he said with a deadpan tone. "W-what?!" she was flabbergasted. 'W-what does this mean?! W-what does he want to tell me?!' her thoughts were all over the place. But then, Uiharu's face went beet red.

'Wait...is this a...LOVE CONFESSION?! THINGS ARE GOING WAY TOO FAST!' "Okay, Nomura-san, see you then."Still flustered, Uiharu replied to Subaru and started walking with a fast pace. 'What's up with her?' Subaru just stared at her with a confused look before going inside too.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*

"Oh, it seems we have run out of time for today. Don't forget to revise chapter 1 through 3 of physics for the upcoming test in 3 days." The teacher said as the class was preparing to leave.

'It's time...' That was the thought that was cycling through Uiharu. Her train of thought was interrupted by Saten."U-i-ha-ru~! Wanna walk home together?" she said as she sneaked up behind her holding her shoulders. "S-Saten-san!? Y-yeah, we can, I just have to meet up with Nomura-san, he wants to tell me something, but I will try not to take too long." Uiharu said surprised.

Hearing his name, Saten looked down, but immediately changed her sad face with a smile. "Oho~ is he going to confess his love for you?" she said teasing Uiharu.

"W-what do you m-mean, Saten-san?!" Uiharu said surprised. "I mean, you are the only one he talks to." Saten explained. "I-it isn't like that, h-he just asks me about homework and notes, t-that's all!" Uiharu said flustered with a blush. "OK then, see you at the entrance!" Saten waved at her goodbye.

She sighed as Saten left. She glanced towards Subaru. He was staring at the window. He then turned his gaze towards Uiharu, whose response was to blush. "Let's go, Kazari." Subaru uttered and approached Uiharu. She nodded and they headed out. There was awkward silence between them. They reached the back of the school and Subaru cleared his throat.

"I wanted to tell you something very important." He said staring deep in her brown eyes. Uiharu was sweating.

'Is this really happening?!' She thought.

"I wan-"

"I am sorry Nomura-san! I appreciate your feelings but I-"

"What are you talking about? I just wanted to appologise."

Uiharu's face went white. 'Are you kidding me?! I got all flustered for nothing!' She mentally screamed. She eventually sighed.

"I wanted to appologise for the other day." He said while bowing.

"What do you mean? Shouldn't you be saying that to Saten-san or Misaka-san?" she asked him. Subaru's face had a confused look.

"Why would I do that? I didn't do anything wrong."

"But, you called Misaka-san incompetent and Saten-San a liability." she said going on the offensive.

"Isn't that true though? Railgun could have killed that guy and your friend endangered herself and that kid. Anyways, I wanted to appologise about snapping at you when you asked about my results, that's all. See ya." he said as he started to leave. Uiharu slightly shocked by his response tried to stop him by telling him to wait. He then stopped and turned to her with a serious look on his face.

"There's something you should know about me... I am willing to admit my mistakes and apologize for them. I didn't do anything wrong yesterday, I just told them the truth." he said and left.

Uiharu sighed. And then she left for the entrance. Saten waved at her."It really didn't take long. So did you reject him? At least tell me you took it easy on him." she said with a smug look.

"It wasn't a love confession, Saten-san. He just apologized for snapping at me." she plainly said.

"OK...Anything else? I feel like you are not telling me something." she inquired. Uiharu turned to look at Saten.

"He said that he has no intention of apologizing to you or Misaka-san."

After hearing that, Saten closed her eyes and looked at the sky. She then turned to Uiharu with a melancholic look. "He is not wrong, though. I am a liability." Uiharu's eyes widened.

"Don't say that, that's not true, Saten-san!!! You are not a liability!" Uiharu shouted with some tears hugging her friend. Saten just sighed.

"I guess you are right." she said shedding some tears as well. After, they both calmed down, they continued in their way.

Heyyy, it's been a while, at least a year, right? Sorry for the lack of updates, I had said that I was gonna go back to writing in June, but in all honesty, I was bored. After 9 months without much free time, I wanted to do many things. Anyways, I am going to try to have more frequent updates! Gonna start writing Chapter 3 right now, so bye!
