Set after The Other Time

It's late. Very late. But Donna is at her desk, she's not really working anymore, she just doesn't want to leave him alone. They're their first days at the firm and she wants to be right there, just in case he needs anything.

"Donna..." He calls her with a tone of voice that isn't the usual one. "Can you come please?"

Donna hears him because the office door is open and there is no one else on the floor. She stands up and walks towards his office. "What do you need?" She asks standing before him. Harvey doesn't respond, stands up, walks by next to her, and closes the door. "We are alone, no one will listen," She chuckles.

"People are cleaning up." He responds, nervously.

"Harvey?" She asks without understanding anything, raising one of her eyebrows.

Harvey walks back and forth and it's not like his office is really too big yet. He is visibly nervous, but this time she is lost about what is happening there. "Donna..." He murmurs, scratching his neck.

"Harvey..." She murmurs too, looking for his gaze.

"Donna." He repeats and takes a deep breath.

"Harvey, what's wrong?" She asks and is starting to feel nervous.

"It's not such a big issue." He loosens the knot on his tie and feels his back sweating.

"Your face says otherwise." She says scratching her arm, she doesn't know what's going on, but she can see in his face that it's not a work thing. Quite the opposite.

Harvey closes his eyes tightly and pinches the bridge of his nose, he can't look at her. He is dying of shame.

"Harvey, talk once and for all please!"

"Today when I left, I didn't tell you where."

"No, what did you do?"

"I went to the doctor." He says and stays silent again.

"Harvey, what happened? Are you okay?" She asks in alarm.

"I'm fine and you should be too." Donna's eyes double in size and she presses her fists, waiting for him to keep talking because her mind is traveling at the speed of light. "I went because I was itching..." He looks down at his crotch and feels like a 15-year-old boy for not being able to say it. "I thought it might be an allergy to whipped..."

"Yes." She interrupts him. He better not finish saying it, the image of his crotch covered with whipped cream has not yet been erased from her mind and the taste she felt as he passed her tongue over there still remains in her mouth. "I understand."

"Well, it wasn't." He sighs. "I have herpes and you probably have it too." He scratches his neck even harder and he cannot look at her. "The doctor told me that it's not serious, just prescribed me a few pain pills. But, you should check yourself too... I'm sorry, Donna." He whispers.

"Are you okay?" Donna closes her eyes tightly because she can't look him in the eye either.

"I am Donna, but you have to..."

"I will, thank you for letting me know." She tries to say without her nerves being noticed in her voice.

"Don't be scared. I asked the doctor about it and he said that everything will be ok, but you have to check yourself too, just in case and for the pills." He says, looking at her this time.

"Okay, I'll do it, Harvey."

"Donna..." He looks for her with his gaze and finally, she looks at him. "I'm sorry."

"Don't do it, we don't know who's to blame either." She shrugs.

"It's more likely to be mine." He says with guilt.

"It's not as if I hadn't had a good time as well." She admits almost without a voice, but both let the comment pass. "I'll be going to check on me tomorrow, I hope my boss won't get angry at arriving late," She tells him, trying to sound funny.

"He won't, I promise you." He smiles shyly at her.

She nods. "Thank you, Harvey."

"Anything for you, Donna. I'm really sorry." He pauses and Donna just smiles at him. "Do you want us to share a taxi?"

"I don't need Harvey, I can walk for the moment." She chuckles.

"I know, but..."

"It's ok Harvey, see you tomorrow."
"Ok, see you tomorrow."

Donna turns around, leaves his office, looks for her stuff and as soon as she leaves the view of him, she starts running towards the elevator.

Damn, this wasn't what she meant by: we put it out of our mind and never mentioned it again.

Donna walks into the elevator and takes a breath of air, she feels her legs loosen and feels on the verge of tears. And it's not even because of the possibility of having caught that stupid herpes, it's because all she wanted to do was comfort him and kiss him to take off the blame of his shoulders and his gaze. Shit, Harvey.

The next morning, Harvey sees Donna arrive and settle at her desk while he is gathered in his office and manages to get rid of that person as quickly as possible. As soon as he is alone, he asks Donna to come to the office and she does.

"Good morning." She says and closes the door.

"Good morning." He responds. "How are you?"

She smiles. "I'm fine Harvey, don't worry…"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, the doctor also prescribed some pills for me. He asked me if I had a couple or if I had had sex recently... And after I answered him, he told me to thank whoever warned me, because I hadn't noticed it and it could have gotten worse. So, thank you." She smiles.

"You know I'll always take care of you." He responds, in an overly honest tone of voice.

She struggles with her lips so they don't form a smile too big and when she is looking for the words to answer, a partner appears on the door. "Thank you, Harvey," Donna repeats, staring at him and leaves the office. She sits at her desk, looking at him through the glass, and this is when she begins to realize that forgetting that night won't be so easy.
