Degrassi Community School, later that day.

After dealing with Derek the Douche and Bruce the Moose, Zack eventually found his way to the Media Immersions classroom.

"Made it just in the nick of time!" a ginger haired man exclaimed as Zack rushed into the classroom just as the bell rang out.

"Thank God!" Zack said as he gasped for breath.

"You must be Zack," the man said as he shook Zack's hand. "I'm Mr. Simpson, your master of Media Immersions!" Simpson put a good deal of emphasis on his last words that made Zack chuckle.

"And I am Zack, master of...getting to class 3 seconds before the bell rings," he replied, which earned a laugh from the teacher.

"A comedian, nice to know," Simpson said as he pointed to Zack's seat. As Zack sat down, he noticed the amazingly beautiful girl at the computer next to him. She had pale white skin, long brown hair, and silver eye shadow around her deep brown eyes. She was also dressed in a tomboyish fashion, but not so much that it was off putting. Zack should have been listening to Simpson's lecture, but he was captivated by this girl. Before he knew what he was doing, young Ayers turned to her and said...

"Hey...I'm Zack Ayers,""Yeah, I heard you up there," she replied as she offered her hand. "I'm Jane Vaughn."

Zack shook it eagerly.

"It's...it's nice to meet you," he stuttered, clearly not used to talking to beautiful girls.

"You the new kid?"

"Yeah."

"Degrassi's pretty cool, I think you'll really like it here," Jane assured him.

"If I can keep away from the douche bags," Zack countered with a sigh.

"Derek, Johnny, or Bruce the Moose?" Jane asked out right as her question caught Zack by surprise.

"Derek and Bruce," Zack clarified and Jane shook her head.

"They're jerks. You go up to them and you're asking for trouble," she warned him.

"I didn't know that when they came up to me," Zack complained as miss Vaughn gave him a friendly punch in the arm.

"Well, now you have me, your guide to the douche bags of Degrassi," she teased and Zack gave her a small smile.

"I appreciate it," he replied. As class went on, he kept ignoring Mr. Simpson because he was looking over at Jane.

Toronto. Ontario, Canada. August 20, 2008.

The Ayers family was sitting down to dinner. Mrs. Ayers had whipped up a batch of her best lasagna-Zack's favorite. However, Zack found himself picking at the food he would otherwise be wolfing down like a madman. They had spent the last week getting all of their things moved into the house, and Zack had already been enrolled at Degrassi Community School for his senior year starting first thing the next morning.

"Are you OK, honey?" Zack's mom asked as she noticed her son's lack of appetite.

"Yeah mom, I'm just not feeling that hungry." Zack replied as he sipped on his glass of milk.

"It's just nerves, Yvonne," Zack's dad assured his worried wife. "Hell, I remember my first day of senior year. I could hardly eat my breakfast, your grandma practically had to force feed me."

"Yeah," Zack agreed as he took a bite of the lasagna, trying to appease his mother.

"I can imagine how scared you must feel, starting a new school in a new country, no less," his mother sympathized. "I'm surprised that you aren't sweating bullets."

"Mom, can we please stop talking about it?" Zack begged as he tried to eat his dinner. Anything to get his mom to just shut the hell up.

"Honey, you have got to stop babying the boy," Walt snapped as she glared daggers at her husband.

"Well, excuse me for being worried about our son!" Yvonne snapped in return. "I just want to make my sure my son is all right. Maybe things would be better if you started to pay more attention to your family instead of work all the time."

"My job is what pays for everything in this house!" Mr. Ayers exclaimed.

"Fine then, spend all your time at the hotel here just like you did back in St. Paul, but don't come to me when he turns out like Xavier!" Mrs. Ayers exclaimed back as Old man Ayers slammed his plate on the floor.

"Good God woman, can we not go one night without you bringing him up?"

"Can I be excused? I'm kind of tired," Zack pleaded, wanting to make a speedy getaway before things got even more heated like they usually did.

"Of course, honey," his mother replied with a forced smile. As Zack made his way upstairs, he could hear his parents' fighting increasing. Zack slammed the door to his room and flopped down on the bed. It was just another night in casa del Ayers.
