Jack was sat in his science class when his communicator flashed, he sighed and tried to ignore it, he knew it probably wasn't going to be a big mission, the CHERUB trial had just finished, MI9 wouldn't throw a high stakes mission on them straight after that. He was still adjusting to the fact that he had been moved down two year groups, his classmates thought it was strange, and he hadn't been able to make friends, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise – he didn't need to make excuses to anyone whenever he had to leave, he just needed to stick out the summer term, then things would be better – people might have forgotten about the move when they came back in September. He kept ignoring his communicator, MI9 had them on boring jobs, and routine drop offs and pick ups, two days ago he was tasked with walking the Queens corgi's and he knew it was a part of the job, but he just wanted to jump back into something bigger. His phone buzzed in his blazer pocket, he looked up to make sure that his teacher wasn't looking, and he checked his phone, it was from Rose 'BIG ONE HURRY UP' it said. Jack quietly gathered his things and snuck out of the classroom, he double checked round every corner to make sure that no teachers would catch him out of lesson, he still hadn't been able to come up with convincing lies like the other three, and he almost always got escorted back to class, luckily, this time he made it.

As the lift doors opened, he saw Stark, he smiled slightly, he – like the other three – wasn't a big fan of Stark, but if he was here, then Rose was right, it was a big mission, Stark didn't leave the headquarters to tell them they needed to walk a corgi. Carrie made way for Jack as they stood in a semi-circle around Stark and the computers. Stark pointed the controller and a photo of a bag of jewels came onto the screen, "These have been taken from the Bank of England. A piece of a KORPS uniform was left behind – just like the warehouse at the end of last year." The team nodded, a Jewel heist, big enough for them to get back into the swing of things again, it had been months since the CHERUB operation, Brian Evans was still on the run, KORPS were back, and they'd spent the last few months walking corgi's and escorting the children of dignitaries to play group. "A significant amount of money was also taken, luckily some of the notes had an implanted GPS tracker" Oscar rolled his eyes, "Another pick up?" he asked, Stark smiled, "I haven't finished yet" Stark said, "we tracked the money to a children's home – Ashdene Ridge, surveillance footage picked up this" Stark clicked the remote control again and a picture of Brain Evans flashed on the screen. The picture wasn't very clear, it was taken from inside a bush, but the four agents knew, it was definitely him. "So what's Evans doing at this care home?" Rose asked, Stark clicked the remote again and the picture changed to him handing a bag over to a couple of kids, "Either they're storing it, or they're working for him. Everyone's got their theories, but long story short, we don't know." Jack smiled, he knew what Stark was getting at, they were going to go undercover. "We're working out the details now, getting information on the home, working out who's there and if they've got room" Stark added, "And one of us goes in?" Jack asked, "That's the plan" Frank stated. The four agents looked at each other, "Who?" Oscar asked, Stark looked at Jack, who looked at Frank confused, "Me? I've only been undercover as a wolf, even then I've been with Oscar" Jack said, he did secretly want to be the one to be sent in undercover, but he had no experience, it would have logically made sense for them to send one of the other three as they've all done it before, plus there was the added issue that they didn't know how long the mission would be, why would they risk sending him in – if it went over a full moon, he would have no cover at all. "The others are too old" Stark stated, "we could doctor their birthdays, but they still look too old – if Evans is hanging around there, those three would stick out like a sore thumb, he'd make a run for it, figure it out there was a tracking device, we'd loose him." Jack looked at the others, they always did look older than him, but no one had ever questioned it before, but being in foster care with the Vaughn's, he knew that the other three wouldn't be placed in a home like Ashdene Ridge, they'd be placed with foster carers or in a supported flat, it had to be him. "We're working to get you in position as soon as possible, you three will work out of rented house nearby – MI9 is putting paperwork together for this place, it'll hopefully fall over your work placement for two weeks, if the mission runs over then you're unfortunately going to be in hospital, it's all we could think of at short notice" Stark said putting air quotes with his fingers around in hospital.

Jack, Rose, Oscar and Carrie went to lunch together, Jack didn't mind, he didn't have any friends in his year yet. They spent the hour going through possibly scenarios they could find themselves in. "I wonder where they'll place us for this work experience, Jeffries wont be happy" Rose laughed as she looked over to the teacher, "Still gets us out of whatever he lined us up for, I saw some of the paperwork when he called me into his office, you were headed to a butchers, and I was going to a dentists office" Oscar laughed, Carrie turned her nose up of the thought of going to a butchers. Once the lunch break was over, they split off back to their classrooms, Jack was sat in history with Mr Jeffries, he still found it strange to be sat in his old seat without the others around him, but he was able to concentrate on work sometimes without them speculating over missions. But today he was worried, the full moon was in two days, if the mission lasted longer than two weeks, he would have to get himself out of the city by 8pm, and he had no idea how to do this. Jack was lost in his thoughts when Mr Flatley came in, "Can I borrow Jack for a moment" he asked. Jack looked up when he heard his name, he followed Mr Flatley out of the room as his classmates jeered. Jack was confused as he was taken to Mr Flatley and Mrs Kings office, he sat down and sniffed the air, Frank came in behind him followed by another MI9 agent. Jack knew the agent, she had helped them with the adoption, he didn't know much about her other than she helped whenever kids were involved. "This is Jenny, she's with social services" Mr Flatley introduced the agent. Jack knew Jenny wasn't her real name, he knew she was actually called Sarah, but he went along with it. "Jack, hi" she said holding her hand out, Jack shook her hand and acted confused, perhaps something had happened that meant the mission needed to be advanced, or perhaps it was a pre-warning for the St Hope's staff. "So, I bet you're wondering why I'm here?" she asked, Jack nodded, that wasn't a lie, he wanted to know what was going on. "I've spoken with Frank about this matter, but we need to take you for a short while" she said, Jack acted shocked, "But no, Frank adopted me, he's my dad, legally, you, you can't do that" Frank tried to hide a smile, Jack had never done undercover work and he was a terrible liar, so he was happy with his reaction. "We know that Jack it's not permanent, and its nothing Mr London has done" Sarah said as she saw the disapproving look that Mrs King was giving Frank, "We need to evaluate a situation, we've been made aware that your biological father has been spotted in the area looking for you. Now," she said addressing the staff "This is a problem, I don't know whether you're aware of the situations that arose before Jack was taken into care, and it's not my place to say" she added as she saw Mrs King about to jump in to ask, "But the police are aware, and there are more charges pending against him. So having spoken to Frank, we've decided that it's in your safety to move you into a residential home, just until he is either arrested or we have concrete evidence he is no longer in the area – preferable the former, but we don't want to disrupt your life and education more than we have to." Jack acted sad but nodded, "I'm definitely coming back though, I can come home to dad?" Jack asked looking at Frank, "yes, the adoption was legal and everything is perfect and we at social services are happy, so yes you will come back" Jack nodded again, "So what do you need from us?" Mrs King asked, "Paperwork, we don't particularly want to enrol him in a school where we're moving him, however if this takes longer, then we may have to consider it for the short term, we just need that paperwork ready, and we need school work for the next month at least for him" Mr Flatley nodded and Mrs King began typing at her computer, "When do I go?" Jack asked, this was the question he had been wanting since the beginning, but he knew he couldn't come out and ask that straight off the bat. "Three days, we still have to finalise your placement, but three days will be the latest" Jack nodded, three days was enough time to get the full moon out of the way, but it wasn't too long that Evans might move from the area, especially as he didn't seem to know that MI9 were onto him.
