Clay frowned as he glanced over at Trent, who had just let out another disgruntled sigh. The two of them were watching one of the most recent Star Wars movies while cuddling on the couch and Trent appeared to be miles away in thought. Meanwhile, Clay was really only watching the movie because he loved to watch Trent watching them; he couldn't even remember the title of this one or what was going on because he was so distracted by Trent's obvious grumpiness.
Clay let out a little groan of his own as he untangled himself from the soft blanket that Trent had thrown over them to reach for the remote. Pausing the movie, he turned and faced his partner. "Babe, what's wrong?"
Trent shook his head in confusion, not seeming to understand why Clay stopped the movie. "Nothing's wrong Clay, why did you stop the movie?" He grumbled.
Clay just shook his head in response. "Can you tell me what happened in the last five minutes?" He hoped that Trent would just say no, because he wasn't even sure what happened in the last five minutes, and he felt himself relax slightly when Trent shook his head in response.
"Are you still upset about Jason?" Clay asked tentatively, thinking that was likely the cause of Trent's distraction. It had been about a week since he and Trent had come out to the rest of the team at Ray's place, and he knew that Jason's reaction was bothering Trent, a lot more than Trent would like to admit. He slid back under the blanket, bringing the remote with him this time, uncomfortable with the silence that was answering his question.
"I don't understand why you're not bothered by it." Trent finally said, glancing up to meet Clay's gaze and then back down at his hands.
Clay shifted awkwardly on his couch cushion. He wasn't sure if he could explain why it didn't bother him but he knew he owed it to Trent to try to explain. "I guess...it's because he reacted the way that I expected him to? I know that sounds awful, but...I didn't think he would accept this." Clay explained, squeezing Trent's hand in an attempt to soften his words. "When I first started on the team, I really looked up to Jason, and his reaction might have hurt more then. Now, I don't really care what he thinks. All I ever wanted is right here in front of me." Clay knew that was a bit corny, but it was what he felt. And if Trent's small smile was any sign, he didn't really mind it either.
Clay leaned into Trent, trying to think of the right way to say his next comment. "I think you should go talk to him though, babe. You two have been teammates for years, it's understandable that this would affect you more." And because Trent's happiness shouldn't be affected by Jason's outdated way of thinking, Clay also thought to himself, but wouldn't say out loud.
"Yeah, maybe you're right," Trent sighed, reaching out his arm for Clay to come under. "Do you mind if we restart the movie? I don't think I really remember anything that happened so far."
Clay just nodded, pressing the restart on the remote. He was slightly relieved, because he didn't remember anything either.

Clay hit the doorbell and then stepped back from the door. He still wasn't sure he should be doing this, but Trent was ducking out of talking to Jason while moping around their apartment and he was tired of it. So he pushed down his nerves and waited for Jason to come to the door, trying to think of the best way to communicate what he needed to say, for Trent.
It was actually Emma that came to the door first, but Clay could see Jason standing back near the kitchen, checking on who was at the door as well. "Hey Emma," Clay said, greeting his kind of sister as he stepped into the house. He then glared at Jason, crossing his arms across his chest. "We need to talk."
Emma sensed the tone in his voice, and ducked out the front door with her wallet, saying that she was going to slide out for some coffee. Jason had straightened up, brushing his hand through his hair and motioning for Clay to come into the kitchen. Jason grabbed a couple beers from the fridge and handed one to Clay, which he took a bit reluctantly...it was only 10 AM after all. But he popped the top and slid onto one of the stools by the island.
"Look Jason - " Clay started to say.
"Clay, I didn't mean it -" Jason spoke up, and then fell silent, realizing that he had interrupted Clay.
Clay held up his hand. He needed to get out what he was going to say right now or he wouldn't be able to. "I'm not here for me. I know that you are uncomfortable with me, with my sexuality, and my relationship with Trent, and honestly, I'm fine with that, I don't really care." Clay started off, taking a huge swig of the beer before saying what he had to say next. "But your reaction the other day at the BBQ, your words...really hurt Trent. And he's not going to say that to you, but I will because I love him. You need to get over whatever your problem is and apologize to him, sooner rather than later." Clay concluded, standing up and walking towards the door. He had no interest in staying any longer.
"Clay, I'm...I'm sorry, okay?" Jason said quietly as Clay opened the front door, having followed him to the door.
"I'm not the one who needs to hear it." Clay said firmly, and shut the door behind him.

Clay agonized for the rest of the day whether or not he should confess to Trent what he did and finally came to the decision that he needed to be honest with his partner. But as he entered their apartment that night, he was confronted with the sight of Jason and Trent laughing on the couch, a handful of empty beer bottles littering the coffee table in front of them.
Clay was tempted to sneak back out and let the two of them continue doing whatever, but he had to accidentally step on that one squeaky board and then the two of them were staring right at him. "Um, hi?" Clay said, waving his hand slightly in Jason's and Trent's direction. He wasn't sure what he should do right now or what exactly he was stepping into.
He was shocked when Trent stood up and came over, giving him a hug and a kiss on his cheek. "Thanks babe," Trent whispered in his ear, and then grabbed his hand and led him over to the couch. "Now sit down, and have a beer with us. I was just telling Jason about our plans for LA this summer," Trent said, passing Clay a beer. As Clay leaned back on the couch, he watched as Trent explained their plans and Jason nodded along, suggesting a couple of places they should check out as if it wasn't a big deal that he and Trent were going on vacation together. This was beyond what he had expected after demanding that Jason apologize earlier that day. Clay was so relieved that it had ended this way that he didn't participate much in the conversation, preferring to watch how much happier Trent seemed.

Later that night when they were lying naked in bed together, Clay trailed his hand down Trent's chest, hesitant to focus on anything negative after that amazing round of sex. But he knew if he didn't ask, then that's all he would focus on and so he plowed through his unease. "Are you sure you're okay that I went and talked to Jason?"
Trent nodded, shifting onto his side to face Clay. "At first, I was a bit annoyed, but then I realized that neither of us would have made the first move to fix things either. So thanks babe," Trent said, leaning in for a quick kiss on the lips.
"What did you guys talk about?" Clay asked tentatively, wondering how Trent managed to convince Jason to be so comfortable with the idea of their relationship.
"I really didn't have to say too much," Trent admitted, thinking back to when Jason came over that afternoon. "I suspect that we owe Emma a big thank you for that. I simply reminded him that our relationship isn't like his and Allana's was, that we literally have no secrets between the two of us, and that it has never interfered with the team or our missions." This time, Trent leaned over for a second kiss that made Clay's toes curl.
"Do you think you have enough energy left to go again?" Clay said with a smirk, a slight tease to Trent's age as he pushed Trent's shoulder down and shifted so that he was now straddling his partner. But then in a matter of seconds, he found himself pinned to the bed, with Trent sliding in between his legs. Any remaining thoughts or concerns about earlier that day quickly disappeared as he arched up into Trent's touch.
Clay gasped as Trent bit down on his neck while sliding into him in one solid thrust. "All I ever wanted is right here in front of me," Trent whispered in his ear as he slowly pulled out and back in again, making Clay moan loudly. Clay wrapped his legs around Trent's waist, encouraging his partner to come closer. Between the pleasure he was feeling and the love he could hear in Trent's words, words that Clay had said himself earlier that week, he never wanted this moment to end.
