Top of the World - A Pair of Kings Fanfiction…
A/N - Well I'm super excited about this fanfiction! I was taking a break for a while, but since POK is now on Disney Plus I have been watching it a lot again.
So I was inspired to write this story! This is set a few years after season 3, so if you haven't seen all three seasons you might be lost, but feel free to read anyway!
I own nothing from POK just the storyline of the fanfiction! Enjoy! Please don't forget to leave a review if you read it, thanks :)
Updates will happen whenever I have time to write :) - Brakayla 4 Ever
Chapter 1
Prologue
It was a beautiful day on the island of Kinkow, just off the south pacific ocean. The sun was shining, the jungle life was up, and the few thousand people who called this island home were starting to go about their day-to-day lives. Then, there were the two kings of Kinkow, known as Boomer and Boz Parker. The two were a pair of fraternal triplets, current rulers of the island, and super close brothers. On any given normal day, the two were always off on wild adventures, exploring the island, or just somehow getting themselves into trouble. Today was no different for them, for the two were currently waking up to start their day. No doubt ready to face whatever was thrown at them, just as they have done most of their life on the island.
As soon as they were dressed and ready, the two then headed downstairs for breakfast. Once they were eating, Mason Makoola, their head guard and royal advisor, entered the room with a huge smile on his face. Seeing the two kings, he says, "Good morning, your majesties!" Mason greets as he sits down next to Boz and starts making a plate of food for himself. He had been up all night, too excited to sleep. Since he finally gave up on the thought of sleeping, he got up to just now come and get some food. "Are you excited as I am? Today is the day!" Mason finishes as he starts eating his breakfast.
The brothers eye one another, thinking that Mason has lost it a little. Boz says in confusion, "Excited for what? What's so special about today?" Boz wondered as he raised an eyebrow.
Boomer sighs, knowing exactly what Mason is talking about. He says to Boz, "Today is the day that Mikayla comes back from college." Boomer finishes with a smile, and he too had to admit that he was excited about his old friend's return.
"Yes, that's right, I've missed my baby girl so much! It was such a hard decision to let her go to college on the mainland, but I knew it was what she wanted and needed. I was hesitant at first because she'll always be my baby girl, but then I knew she was trained well from being a guard and could handle herself. So we talked and made a choice, she got to go, and I'm glad she did, and now she is coming to stay back home on Kinkow for a while…" Mason finished as he smiled even wider. He continued shoving food into his mouth faster than both boys could combine. Mason was more excited than any of them, but the two understood instantly.
It was true when Mikayla got to the age where she could go to college, and she decided she wanted to broaden her horizons and step outside of what Kinkow had to offer. Since she knew a few people from the mainland, Boomer and Rebecca, she enlisted their help in finding colleges and which degree would be better. It had been a long process, but they finally settled on a school in the state of California. Mikayla had been offered to stay with one of Boomer and Boz's distant family members there, and she took the opportunity. Of course, the distant family member offered before the brothers did when Boomer reached out to them, and they met before she just said yes. Mikayla had gone to college for a degree in Social Justice, claiming she wanted to help the kings make the island an equal, fair economy and keep them safe. Of course, Boomer and Boz had supported her want, even without the need for her to go to school, but she was set, her mind made up. Either way, they were happy to support her, as her father did too. It had been super hard to watch Mikayla leave, but they knew it was the best choice for her, and her father nor the kings didn't want to keep her from her dreams. Besides, they all knew that after school was done, Mikayla was coming to stay on Kinkow, making it easier.
"Oh, that's right! So, are we setting up a welcome back party then?" Boz wonders at the thought. Sure, he and Mikayla hadn't gotten along at first because she looked like his ex-girlfriend Sasha, but over the years, Boz had been with a few girls and slowly got past that. He and Mikayla had become just as close as she was with Boomer eventually. He, too, had to admit he missed the guard girl hanging out with them. "I mean, this is a special moment, right? Mikayla is family here, and she deserves the welcome back!" Boz states with slight excitement.
Boomer and Mason look at one another and nod, liking the idea as well. Plus, Boomer enjoyed any chance he got to party. "Yeah, that's a good idea. Should we have it here at the castle or Boomerama?" Boomer questioned, always ready to offer his fancy dance club for a party place.
Boz thinks, "Well, Mason lives here at the castle, so she would probably come back here first before going anywhere else. We should have it in the plaza and throne room! We can invite her old friends Candace and Tara. We can also invite Rebecca since we hung out with her too. Plus, she is your fiance…" Boz finished with a grin, liking the idea more and more. Many ideas came to his head at once as he thought of the party, but it was still hard to believe that Boomer and Rebecca were still together after all these years.
But yes, it was true. After about five years of dating, Boomer had finally asked Rebecca's father for her hand in marriage, and he allowed it, warming up to Boomer after the while Kitat the Warrior, of course, said yes, and the two were happily engaged now, planning on tying the knot when Rebecca, too, finished college. Kinkow had changed since the defeat of Kiata the Bat Warrior a few years back, and it was a good chance. First, there was a change between Rebecca and Boomer's relationship. But on the other hand, Boz was still single, having been with a few girls on and off over the years. Mikayla had not really had the heart to date anyone since Boz had arrived; Boomer claimed it was because she was all still for their third brother Brady, but Boz didn't know the story between the two, nor have ever met Brady after all this time so that he couldn't be sure. Rebecca and Mikayla also went to school, Rebecca to Kinkow Community College, and Mikayla to the mainland. The kings have grown as well, matured a little, took ruling a bit more seriously, but of course, they still got into their daily crazy shenanigans. Some things changed, and some stayed the same, which was why Boz was suggesting a welcome back party for Mikayla. Even though they have changed, they still consider one another, friends, family, and that will never change.
"Hm... that's a good idea." Boomer smiles as he finishes the food on his plate. "All right, I say after breakfast we get started since she will be back this evening! We only have limited time! Mason, can you get the news out to Candance and Tara in the village? -" Boomer began as he stood from his seat and put the dishes he had in a dish rack for the staff to get later.
Mason nods, "Yes, I can do that. I can also pick up some party supplies on my way back!" Mason states with a grin from ear to ear this time. He, too, followed Boomer's actions, and so did Boz.
Boomer thinks, "Awesome, thanks! I'll get Rebecca since she is in her room here at the castle." Boomer smiles at the thought of his fiance. "She'll also be able to help with ideas." He finishes while he grabs a notebook and a pen from a nearby countertop so that they can write things down.
"Sounds good! -" Boz begins with a thought, and he says, - Then I can go to the kitchen staff and tell them to prepare a banquet for today!" Boz states, holding a finger up to show his enthusiasm. He adds, "I'll also get the plaza and throne room cleaned up; we clearly have to wait for the decorations…" Boz finishes with a grin.
"So we all have an idea of our part for the party. Rebecca and I can help you clean up Boz, so we'll meet in the throne room; Mason will meet us there too when he returns. Does everyone know their duties then?" Boomer questions just double-checking before they started.
Boz and Mason nod, "Yes, sir!"
Laughing a little to himself in excitement, Boomer nods and says. "All right, everyone, let's all meet in the throne room/plaza in an hour or two then! Let's get this party started, and I can't wait to see Mikayla's reaction!" Boomer finishes with a grin.
Mason and Boz smile at thought as well. The two, along with Boomer, then break off to start their daily task. Boomer headed to Rebecca's room, Boz headed to the kitchen, and Mason headed to the village. They had till this evening to get it ready, and she would return around six pm. So, they had no time to waste, which was why they began instantly after breakfast.
As they all split off to do their part and mind their own business for the day, none of them noticed that in the far distance of the island, an old-looking royal balloon was speeding down towards where the dark side used to be, and it was coming down fast too. The balloon was crashing, and the occupant inside would not receive help. Of course, they wouldn't, for that occupant wasn't Mikayla, and no one was expecting this occupant ever to show up again…
