I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who has plans for tonight.

Friday nights are great for going out and there's always something to do in this city that I call home. Metropolis is pretty big.

I'll be going out, as you might have guessed. My outfit's different than most though.

Well, I do intend on surprising this city. I've been meaning to for some time now.

I guess I've been kind of distracted. I'll be starting a new job on Monday.

No, I won't tell you what it is. I've got a plan that I want to get to, remember?

Now, you're probably wondering about the outfit that I mentioned. The one I said is different than most.

Well, it's a black bodysuit with a white owl where Batman's insignia is.

Yes, I said Batman, even though he's not from here. Don't judge me.

Anyway, I'm also wearing a white domino mask that I can see out of but no can see in because I'm sure heroes do that, a cape that looks like the wings of a snowy owl because it goes with my insignia and gray gloves with things that I'll need inside because I don't think I could pull off a utility belt.

Yes, I'm going to be a hero too. I can't think of a reason why this city shouldn't have another female one.

I'm a really good fighter and a Meta so I'm positive that I can do this.

I leave my house through the skylight.

Yes, one of my powers is flying. It's one of my likes because why wouldn't it be?

My other powers should help too.

I can see in the dark. In fact, my sight, along with my hearing and sense of smell, are enhanced.

I also have a sixth sense. You might call it "spider sense".

My last power is talking to owls. I can understand them too, though that's kind of a given.

No Harry Potter jokes please.

Oh, and I don't know where I get my powers. They're just a part of who I am.

Who am I, you might ask?

You can call me Owl. It's nice to meet you.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got crime to look for and go stop. I've got to make my debut!

I take to the sky then look around. I'm listening too.

Hey, there's Superman. I'll lend him a hand.

I land lightly next to him then smile, introduce myself and offer my assistance.

"I wouldn't say no to another pair of hands, Owl."

It feels so cool to hear him say my name.

I help him take down a team of villains.

Man, this is a rush! I can see why heroes do this.

Well, I definitely got an auspicious debut. I'm pretty sure that my plan to surprise this city worked as well.

Hey, if I can't do that by fighting with Superman, I'd say you're a liar. That you don't know this city anywhere near as well as I do.

I've lived here for more than twenty years. It's where I was born.

I can't imagine calling another city home and, to be honest, I don't want to. Now, I'm helping to defend it.

I've decided this will be my night job.

No, I won't tell you what my other job will be. You can't possibly think that I'd give you any clue to my secret identity.

There's no way you'd get it from me. Heroes protect it, you know.

I look around after the fight's over. What's next?

Superman grins at me. "You know what? I think you already proved yourself."

Really?

"Even though I'm new?"

He laughs gently. "We all have to start somewhere."

He's got a point.

"Yeah, and my start turned out pretty good."

He laughs. "Now, that's the spirit. I think you'll do just fine."

I fist pump. "I got the Superman seal of approval. Aw, yeah."

He laughs again then, soon, heads off.

I should probably get going too. There's nothing more that I can do here.

I take to the sky again then check a clock.

Wow, it got late. Late-ish anyway.

It's 10:30.

Sure, I could sleep in but I have something that won't let me.

No, I won't tell you what it is.

I go back to my place and close the skylight then breathe out slowly, winding myself down.

I take off my Owl uniform and put it in a hidden part of my closet then close it.

I head to my dresser next. I open a drawer then grab a white nightshirt then close the drawer after putting it on.

I rub my eyes and yawn then get in bed, feeling really happy to be a hero.
