Chapter 31: Patient
A/N Enjoy and Please Leave a Review. Thank you very much and I hope this brings a bit of delight to your day.
Supergirl:
Hitting Kilowog with my lasers while The makes some flying boats to carry Atrocitus and Arisia away.
"Stop right there," Kilowog screams, ignoring me and firing a green beam toward The.
"Watch out," I yell, The turning around in time to summon a bubble and withstand the attack. Seeing both the ring and the bubble flash, I move fast and jump into the air, flying toward Kilowog as fast as I can. Charging right into him, pushing him far out of the way, I look back at The.
"Thanks," he says, waving and flying away.
"Your welcome," I reply, looking back at Kilowog as he recovers.
"I am going to destroy you," Kilowog threatens, raising his ring.
"Please," I beg, "I don't want to fight you! None of us do! We are not your enemy!"
"All Kryptonians are our enemy," Kilowog replies, aiming and firing a small ball at me. Jumping and flying over the ball, I hover in the air and use my laser vision to hit Kilowog! Despite hitting Kilowog, he only moves back a little. Crossing his arms together, he more than withstands my attack! Now blocking with only one arm, he moves his other arm out of the way and fires.
Missing me, I stop shooting when a shadow is cast over me. Looking up, I see a giant weight hovering above me! Dropping right on me, I raise my arms in time to catch the giant weight!
The Man:
Looking behind me at where I last saw Kara, I turn back around.
"Come on," I say, lowering my head. "Come on! Faster! Faster!"
Seeing Hal's ring flash, I stop for a little bit to look at it. Rubbing my thumb against it, I close my eyes and inhale a bit. Exhaling, I tighten my fist before raising it.
"I tied my will to duty and responsibility," I chant, "I tied my will to those that I shall protect! I tied my will to those that will feel my might! I am a Green Lantern! Protector and defender!"
The flashing stops, bits of greens begin to come out of my body, the green all flowing toward the ring.
"The ties that bind will never break," I keep on chanting. "The ties that bind will never ever break! This is will!"
My whole body encased in a bright-green glow, the glow all rushing into the ring, the ring glowing even more than before. Fully recharge now, I shoot it forward, Arisia, Atrocitus, and I all flying faster back toward Jackdaw. Reaching her in only a matter of minutes, I drop down in front of everyone.
"Hey doc," I scream, the boat turning into a pair of stretchers and two green, see-through paramedics swamping beside them. "Doc! You got some patients here! Doc! Where are you!"
Running from beneath the ship's deck, the doc stops when he sees everything; Arisia, Atrocitus, green paramedic 1, and green paramedic 2.
"What," he says, pointing in between the five of us. "What happened! What's going on? Is that Atrocitus? Why is he here?"
"Lots of questions, not a whole lot of time," I reply, looking at the paramedic. Pointing at the doc, they both nod their heads.
"Take these two to the infirmary," I order, "And immediately put them in the incubators! I'm going back! Kara may need my help!"
"Hold it right there," Flash yells, running to catch me before I can take off. "You brought Atrocitus! Are you crazy? He's a part of the Red Lantern!"
Staring at the guy for a full 30 seconds, I start making circles with my hand.
"So," I ask after 31 seconds. "What's your point?"
"The Red Lanterns are enemies of the Green Lantern Corps," Flash replies. "They're driven by anger and rage, and no one is more angry and full of rage than Atrocitus! He's the leader of the whole Red Lanterns!"
Again, staring and making more circles, I wait about 31 seconds before asking what Flash's point is.
"He is a bad guy," Flash says, slapping his face, "And you're just letting him on board your flying pirate ship!"
"My flying pirate ship is named the Jackdaw," I say, "The Jackdaw! It's really not that hard to remember. Also, you really should be careful what you say."
"What are you talking about?"
For the third time, I start making circles with my hand, only this time, it is much wider.
"Take a hard look around," I say, nudging my head toward Harleen, Selina, Leonard, Pamela, and even the doc just before he disappears below deck. "It's a rare occasion alright, a lot like seeing a blue moon, but it is possible."
"What," Flash asks, his stupid confused face making it really hard not to smack him. Breaking down only a little, I grab some hair and pull him close.
"People can change, you stupid, stupid idiot," I whisper, "Or did you forget about your own changed of heart?"
Barry's eyes going wide, filling with tears, I can see right into them. Thinking back to when Bar was working as a regime for Superman, he believed that what he was doing was the right thing.
"Bad people got what they deserved," Billy said years ago. "But now?"
Memories of Superman killing Shazman and Barry running to found and join the Insurgency all flashes by until finally, he drops to the knees, his head hanging.
"What did you do," Harleen screams while Selian rushes to his side. Harleen walking up to me pushes me.
"What did you do," she repeats, grabbing me via my jacket collar.
"Harleen," Barry yells, raising his hand. "Stop!"
Turning to Selina who is helping him up, he smiles at her.
"I'm okay," he says, "I'm okay. Just needed a talking to, I guess. Harleen, please let him go."
"Yes," I add, "Please do let me go. You're ruffling my jacket."
Letting me go, I aim my ring at the ground and summon a hoverboard.
"Listen," I say, jumping on the hoverboard. "I'm going to help Kara. The rest of you, just stay here for now and be on the lookout. Between Superman and his One Earth beta, the 'fearsome' Yellow Lantern Corps, and the entire Green Lanterns Corps, it's kind of hard to tell who wants to kill us more. Bye!"
Adding a pair of rocket boosters to the back of my hoverboard, I turn them on and shoot into and across the sky!
