Story Summary: NON CANNON Set after end of season. A woman and her ill father move in to the house next door to Jax. Carly's father grew up in Charming and wanted to come back to live out the last of his days. Carly needs support in a town where she knows no one. Jax is without his wife, his kids, and his mother. Is shared loneliness enough to build a relationship on for two people so different?

Set after end of series. NON CANNON. Jax has not died. Wendy and Nero are raising the boys in Mexico for their safety. Jax is still the president of SAMCRO.

Carly started making a habit out of letting the dog out alone at night. Jax tried to go over there a few times, play with the dog, wait her out, sit on the picnic table. She never came out. He was devastated. He had never thought of carrying a gun as being an issue before. Tara and Wendy had never blinked an eye at it. Hell, Tara carried her own.

He knew there were people who didn't approve of guns. He didn't usually associate with them, not on purpose, but just because of the nature of his life. But Carly, he wanted her in his life. He needed her in his life. He missed her, craved her. He couldn't stand being so close to her and yet so far.

She was right next door. All he had to do was knock on her door. So why didn't he? Because she didn't want her dad to know about him, that's why. And because he was respecting her wishes. Shouldn't he be insulted that she didn't want her dad knowing of his existence? He was good enough to sleep with but not introduce to the family? He couldn't blame her for that. He really wasn't a come home and meet the family type.

He sat in his own backyard just before dusk. He stared at her back door. Waiting for it to open, waiting for the dog to come running out. Maybe he should call Kenya over to him, make Carly come get her. She certainly liked him enough to come running over if he called. He sighed and put out his cigarette. As he pulled out another, he heard sirens coming down the street. He cut through the house and went out his front door.

His guess had been correct. The ambulance pulled into Carly's driveway. It had only been a month since her dad had gotten out of the hospital. He leaned on the front of his house as he watched the men go inside. One came back out and grabbed the gurney. They didn't work on him long before they brought him out and loaded him into the back of the ambulance. Carly didn't get in this time. She ran out of the house and to her vehicle as they were pulling out of the driveway. She went speeding away behind them.

Jax sent up a small prayer that her father would be okay. He knew how much she worried about him. She had uprooted her whole life to come here with him. If she lost him, when she lost him, she would be devastated. He took his chances and pulled out his phone. He sent her a quick text. 'Saw the ambulance, let me know if you need anything' before he went back inside.

Jax didn't see Carly's car back at the house till he got home from work the next day. He had decided, as the day had gone by and she hadn't answered his text, that enough was enough. He was going over to see her.

So why wasn't he moving? He had parked his bike, gone inside, cleaned himself up, made dinner. Even procrastinated to the point of cleaning the house. It was eight now. He could wait two more hours till she let the dog out, or he could march over there. He stared at her house through the kitchen window and sighed. He needed to man up.

He decided to go to the front door instead of the back. It seemed less creepy and stalkerish. He jogged up the stairs and knocked on the door. He waited a few moments and knocked again. On the third knock the door finally opened.

"Hey." He greeted her straight off.

"Hey." She answered.

"Can I come in?" He asked.

"Umm, yeah. Sure." She stepped aside and opened the door wider. Jax walked in and took a look around the house. Nervous cleaning. The place was spotless. Kenya ran up and licked his hand and he bent down to give her a scratch.

"So, how's your dad?" He asked as he stood back up.

"He needed emergency dialysis. Filled up with fluid. They're keeping him to monitor his heart."

Jax nodded, he didn't really get a take on how serious all that was. He stepped up to her and ran a hand through her hair, pushing it back from her face.

"I've been worried about you." He admitted.

"No need." Carly tried to brush him off. She stepped back away from him, making his hand drop.

"Carly… is there anything I can do to fix this between us?" He asked.

Carly looked away and sighed. "I don't…Jesus…Jax, we were just hooking up."

Jax cringed. "I thought it was more than that." He admitted.

Carly cringed back. "I didn't mean it that way, I just mean, this…this isn't…I don't know." Her shoulders sagged and she walked into the living room, collapsing on the couch.

"I pulled out my gun safe. I used to use it, when the kids were in the house." He told her, sitting down next to her on the couch.

Carly nodded her head.

"Can you tell me, is there anything else I can do, to… to get you back?" He grasped her hand as he spoke.

"Jax, I'm just… I'm in a really bad place right now. Things are bad, and I'm trying to take on work again. I need to, for the income. And… I don't know." She huffed.

"So, lean on me. Use me." He urged her.

"No. I won't do that. I think…I think I was doing that, and that's not fair to either of us."

"Do you think I don't need you?" He asked her, surprised. "Carly, you're the only bright spot in my life. It's okay to need each other." He brought his hand to her cheek and caressed it gently.

"So, you want us to use each other?" She asked, upset.

"No, I want to be with you. I want you in my life. For whatever small fraction of time I can get you."

Carly licked her lips, a nervous habit, and Jax leaned in, kissing her gently. As she opened up to him, he pushed on. He lowered her to the couch and laid over her, kissing her, feeling her against him, running his hand through her hair, his other up her shirt, caressing her side.

She moaned quietly and Jax was undone. He sped up, putting more pressure into his touches. He wanted her, needed her. She ran her hands up the back of his shirt and he shivered at her nails on his skin.

They tore at each other's clothes on the couch. When he was finally able to sink into her, he clung to her, holding her close, thrusting slowly, drawing out every movement. The feel of her skin against his was ecstasy. Her own hands clung to him, grasped at him, trying to hold onto him as he took her deeper and deeper under in passion.

When she came, she broke her lips away from his own and gasped in pleasure. Her hands grasped at his butt and pulled him closer, deeper, as he continued to thrust inside of her. He lowered his head to the side of her face and placed his lips on her collar bone as he finished himself off.

They lay quiet, except for their breathing, still connected to each other for several minutes. When Jax finally pushed himself off of her he got off the couch. He grabbed his jeans with one hand and Carly's hand with the other. He pulled her up and led the way to her bedroom. He fished his phone out of his pocket and threw it on her nightstand.

He stood near the bed, holding Carly against him, running his hands up and down her sides and back.

"I just want to be with you." He whispered in her ear. "Just let me be with you."

She leaned her head on his shoulder and he kissed her ear. He swooped her up in his arms and placed her gently in the center of the bed. He laid down next to her and pulled her onto his chest. His fingers ran up and down her back, never stopping, as he drifted into a twilight sleep, breathing in her scent.

When he woke back up, he was alone. He momentarily panicked, maybe he had dreamed it all, but no, he was in her bed, surrounded by her scent. He hugged her pillow to his face and breathed her in before he got up. He pulled on his jeans and went looking for her.

She was in a night shirt sitting at the kitchen table on her laptop. He glanced over and saw some sort of company logo in progress. He poured himself a glass of water and sat down next to her.

"You have a lot of work left to do?" He asked her as he drank.

"I planned on spending the evening on it." She said as she glanced up at him.

Jax nodded his head and downed the rest of his water. He heard a scratch at the back door and got up to let the dog inside. He squatted down and gave her a good rub down. He got kisses in return.

"You're just a big furry ball of love, aren't you?" He asked the dog as he kissed the top of her head. He glanced back up at Carly. Why was it so easy to tell a dog you loved her but not a human?

He stood back up and came up behind Carly and started to massage her shoulders. She moaned in return and lowered her head. He stretched his long fingers along her neck and then up onto her scalp. He couldn't tell if they were back where they had been. He had woken up without her in his arms, that was a bad sign, but she seemed fine with him being there, interrupting her work.

"You mind if I stay while you work?" He asked after he stopped his massage. He picked his empty glass up and placed it in the sink.

"I assumed you'd spend the night." She said matter of factly.

Jax smiled. "What ever you want, darling." He sat on the couch in the living room and pulled out his phone to keep him busy. She wanted him to stay. He sighed in relief as he got comfortable and pulled up sports news.

It was nearly an hour later that she came to get him and he followed her to the bedroom. She climbed right under the covers and laid her head on his chest when he joined her. He kissed the top of her head as his fingers played with her hair. He remembered Tara had once said two people aren't a couple until they sleep in the same bed for the night without having sex. He wasn't sure if this qualified, but he fell asleep with a smile on his face.

Jax woke up the next morning to an empty bed again. He listened to Carly get out of the shower and laid back with a smirk while he watched her bend over and rub lotion on her legs.

"Enjoying the view?" She asked as she stood back up and started on her arms.

"Yes ma'am." He grinned and sat up against the headboard. "What are you doing up so early?"

"I have a meeting with a social worker at the hospital."

"Social worker?"

"She's probably gonna try to talk me into putting my dad in a nursing home." Carly sighed and stepped closer to the bed. "Put some on my back?" She asked, handing him the bottle of lotion.

Jax grabbed it and stood up behind her. He brushed her hair over her shoulder and began to massage lotion into her back. He looked up and caught her eye in the mirror. He stared back at her and kissed her bare shoulder. When he was done with her back, he ran his hands over her stomach and up to her breasts. She sighed and leaned back against him as he caressed them and played with her nipples.

He left one hand where it was and the other traveled down her body to her core, slipping inside and quickly finding her sweet spot. He watched her bite her lip in the mirror as he taunted her, one hand pinching her nipple, the other excruciating slowly driving her over the edge.

As she got close she closed her eyes. Jax whispered in her ear to keep them open and paused his actions until she did. In return she reached between them and firmly grasped his already hard member. He jerked against her as she ran her thumb over his sensitive head. Her actions made him increase his pace, he clamped his teeth down on her shoulder and focused on keeping his fingers moving as she drove him further into insanity.

He wanted to watch her come in the mirror, he stared into her eyes as he drove her over the edge. Before she had a chance to take a breath, he turned them both around. He bent her over the bed and drove into her. She brought her knees up onto the bed as he thrusted and buried her head in the soft comforter. Jax held on to her hips, his long thumbs wrapping around to press into her ass as he thrusted into her. As soon as he exploded inside of her, he bent over her and kissed the back of her neck. He left his lips pressed to her as he caught his own breath.

He slid onto his back next to her and pulled her against him. He planted a hand on her stomach to keep her pressed against him and leaned his head against the side of her head. When both their heart rates had slowed down, he loosened his grip and they both sat up.

"We're both running late now." She observed as she saw the time.

"It was worth it." He answered and kissed her shoulder before he stood up. "I'm gonna grab a shower. Don't be late for your appointment." He grabbed her ass before he walked away. "I'll see you tonight."

Jax spent his lunch hour on the roof. He chose a cigarette over a joint for the sake of getting any work done in the afternoon. He was deep in thought when Chibs came up to check on him.

"Girl trouble." Chibs observed as he sat down next to his president.

"Hey." Jax greeted him.

"You came in here in a pretty good mood. Better today than in a while."

"Yeah…" Jax answered.

"I assumed you fixed things with your girl." Chibs elaborated.

"How'd you know… never mind." Jax blew him off.

"Oh, come on Jackey boy. How'd I know things went downhill? You're an open book to me. And this morning you were practically skipping. So, what's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong." Jax answered defensively. "I'm just…thinking."

Chibs nodded his head and gave the younger man a minute.

"I love her Chibs." He came out and admitted. "And I… I have no right too."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"I swore to myself, after Tara, that I wouldn't do this again, that I wouldn't drag another innocent woman into this life. I wouldn't endanger another woman I loved. Jesus, I sent my kids away to keep them safe and I'm day dreaming about moving this girl into my house and repainting the damn nursery."

Chibs eyebrows raised nearly off his forehead. "That's some serious love." He said in a somber tone. "You sure it's not just infatuation, you're just happy to not be alone anymore?"

"These last few weeks, I convinced myself of that. That I just didn't want to be alone. But when I saw her, touched her, kissed her; Chibs, I love her."

Chibs squeezed his brother's shoulder. "You know, the club isn't what it used to be. We aren't fighting wars. We're not mulling drugs or guns. We have legitimate businesses. It's not as dangerous as it was before."

"What the hell kind of hypocrite would I be if I started a new life with this girl and left my sons in Mexico for their own safety?" Jax stood up and yelled. He wiped his hands back through his hair and stepped to the side of the building, looking down.

"I don't know what to tell you, Jax. But I know you, and you won't ever be happy alone."

Jax nodded his head and continued to stare off into the sky.

"Love is a good thing, Jax." Chibs finished up.

"It's supposed to be." Jax murmured.
