Chapter Nineteen – The Nice Guys
Charlotte Flair's apartment, Charlotteville, New Jersey
Charlotte Flair got some ice water out of the fridge to cool down after an hour workout while Beth Hardy sat on Charlotte's sofa thinking about everything that happened yesterday. She was so sure that her mother's threat would be enough to get Bianca Belair to give up the DX jewels. After all, nothing meant more to Belair than the wellbeing of the other God girls. Now Beth Hardy had more respect for Bianca than ever before. To come up with such a brilliant way of getting into Kendrick Alexander's restricted access lab was pure genius. Beth Hardy had never been so happy for one of her mother's plans to fail but on the other hand, she dared not think about what atrocious idea Stephanie McMahon would come up with next to get her hands on the DX family jewels.
"Three little spiders, who would have thought of that? Those God girls are so special," Beth Hardy said with admiration. She missed them so much.
The same thought went through Charlotte's head as she brushed her hair but she had been in awe of the God girls ever since Finn Balor's face got healed right in front of her.
"I noticed your Dad was really quiet over the weekend, it looks like he's got a lot on his mind. Is he okay?" Charlotte asked Beth Hardy coming to sit next to her on the sofa.
"He's coming to his senses," Beth Hardy said looking up at the ceiling, "he's finally starting to realise that my Mom is nuts. It's a shame because it won't make a difference now,"
Charlotte furrowed her brow, "What do you mean?" she asked Beth.
"There was one time when my Dad's opinion could influence Mom's and he could talk her out of something that was going to cause her harm. He used to influence her business decisions, even what she made for dinner. But those days are over," Beth said.
"Why do you think that?" Charlotte asked.
"Because my Mom is in full McMahon mode; she's ruthless and black-hearted, she's the original Bayley Black Heart and when she gets like this, there's not a human being on this planet that can get through to her," Beth Hardy said.
"So even if your Dad was to like say um, change his mind about the whole DX jewels thing, she would still forge ahead with her plan regardless?" Charlotte asked and Beth nodded.
"You look disappointed," Beth Hardy said noticing the soured look on Charlotte's face. "Were you hoping I would say something else?"
Charlotte pulled a lock of her hair behind her ear and thought deeply before asking, "I was kind of hoping that your father would be able to talk your Mom out of all this. I get family pride, I'm a Flair, I know how much legacy means and I could totally see where your Mom was coming from in her war against DX. But after Bianca gave me that healing balm and I saw Finn's face get healed, I looked up and I saw a look on your father's face that I recognised,"
"What look was that?" Beth asked Charlotte.
"It was guilt," Charlotte replied. "The last time I was in Clearwater Baptist Church, I asked Bianca Belair to forgive me for kissing her husband and I haven't made a move on Montez since. Seth told me I couldn't be friends with him anymore and now, I have a real desire to be friends with Bianca,"
"The guilt's gone because you did the right thing but you can't reach out to Bianca, it's way too dangerous now," Beth Hardy said. "If you had reached out to her before HayMac got married it might have been okay but now, after the God girls successfully kept Mom away from the wedding and managed to hold onto the DX jewels, even after she had Becky and Alexa poisoned, you can't afford to piss her off,"
Charlotte looked at Beth Hardy sternly, "I'm not scared of your mother. I want out Beth and maybe I could get you out too,"
Beth Hardy shook her head, "There's no way any of us are getting out of this until my Mom gets what she wants," Beth Hardy said.
"Do you really think your mother is going to get her hands on those DX jewels?! She's tried everything to get them and she's failed. We're clearly on the wrong side, I'm a Flair, I do not like to lose!" Charlotte said and she gave Beth a more solemn look, "and more importantly Beth, I don't want to go to Hell,"
Beth gave Charlotte a sympathetic look before speaking, "I know you're scared but I know my mother. If you jump ship now, she will come after you with the venom of a million snakes. I know you think you're strong but Charlotte, you are no match for my mother," Beth said and Charlotte smiled confidently.
"I guess this is the part when I'm supposed to start shaking right?" she said nonchalantly siting back in her sofa, devising ways to get everyone out of Stephanie McMahon's evil clutches. Her first act would be to start a brand-new marketing campaign that would take all the attention off of the Black Heart Diaries and put all the attention on the name Charlotte Flair with Beth, Finn and AJ along for the ride. In one short week, Charlotte's Confessions would be born and a full-fledged endeavour to get out of the crimson clutches of Stephanie McMahon would begin.
The Reigns Household, Pensacola, Florida
Roman put the phone down after talking to Seth and he stared ahead thoughtfully as Galina finished cleaning up the kitchen.
Galina noticed the far away look in her husband's eyes and she slung a dirty cleaning cloth over her shoulder and came over to him.
"What's on your mind?" she asked Roman squeezing his waist lovingly from behind and kissing his back.
"I just spoke to Seth, it turns out Abiyah's got a Gift from God," Roman said and Galina's eyes widened amazed.
"Wow, God sure doesn't waste time. That's awesome Roman! So, what's the Gift? Can he fly or make people go to sleep?" Galina asked excitedly and Roman turned to face her.
"He can bring dead things back to life," Roman said and Galina's mouth dropped open.
"Are you serious?!" she said and Roman nodded. "Roman you must be so proud and Seth and Sasha must be over the moon! I mean, he's just a baby, this is incredible!"
Roman nodded, "I am proud. Seth said that he's going to ask Bianca Belair to verify the Gift and make sure that it's legit. It could be a fluke, you know, like a side effect of Sasha's Gift. Seth said that before Abiyah started bringing dead bugs back to life, he was feeding off of his mother's electricity. Maybe that's all this is, it might not be a Gift at all," he said soberly but Galina wasn't convinced by his argument.
"I totally disagree Roman. I always knew Abiyah was going to be special, there's no way that this Gift is a fluke. God has some big plans for your son. I mean come on, his name means "Jehovah is God", you didn't think he was going to be an ordinary kid, did you?"
Roman smiled, "No, after all, he is a Reigns," he said and Galina smiled at him.
"That's right, Abiyah is part of your legacy now. You should be proud Roman; you and Seth are going to be a pivotal part of his life. You and Seth have always been a couple of nice guys, this couldn't have happened to better friends. At first I thought that Abiyah might divide us all but I really think your little boy is going to bring you and Seth closer," Galina said.
"You mean because of how much Abiyah looks like me but has all the Christian influence of being around Seth and the God girls and the DX family?" Roman said and Galina nodded. "He really does look like me,"
"Of course he does, he's your son," Galina said and Roman walked down the passage rubbing his neck, suddenly deep in thought. Galina came towards him, "Are you okay Big Dog?" she asked catching up to him.
Roman looked around at the home that Galina had spent the whole day cleaning, "This house looks amazing, you really know how to make a house feel like a home," he said to Galina and he put his arms around her, "Thank you for always making me feel special. There's nothing better than coming home to a woman I know loves me,"
Galina smiled brightly as Roman leaned over to kiss her, "You're such a nice guy," she said before Roman kissed her and she wrapped her arms around her husband and enjoyed a kiss that was just as nice as he was.
