Starting when Bellamy returned from the Ice world. I took direct quotes from S7 E11
Clarke and the others stood in the bright white dining hall, the decadent dining ware stared her in the face, like a reminder of a world that she could never reach. Clarke felt a twinge of anger flex in her stomach, the disrespect these people had for them was infuriating. Although she would not show it, all she could think about was slitting Cadogen's throat for destroying her life. She managed to push that aside to deal with the current predicament, the flame. She stood walking towards the doors to leave,
"Where are you going," Echo called from the back of the room
"To wake the others, It's time to go back to sanctum," Clarke said facing them again
"Clarke, we are under house arrest," Gabriel said, wiping his mouth from the stew he was eating.
"I'm aware of that. I'm also aware our leverage disappears the moment he puts me in front of that stone."
"So what are you gonna do?" Echo pressed. Octavia and Gabriel stared, waiting for an answer
"I'm going to offer to do it, as soon as the rest of you are safely back on Sanctum."
Octavia stood in protest "Clarke, They'll kill you"
Echo sternly chimed in "You are not sacrificing yourself for us."
The large bay doors behind them slowly opened, the smooth white metal glided across the floor. The group turned their heads instinctively, waiting for Cadogan to march in with a stench of self-righteousness. And what met their eyes was as predicted, Cadogan stood before them with a collective of bodyguards. Clarke instinctively walked towards him
"We need to talk, I'm ready to help you. But only after my friends are-"
Catagen turned away without a word raising his hand back towards the door they came from. Walking out of the darkened hallway, a disheveled Bellamy slowly approached. His naturally wavy black hair was matted and down to the nape of his neck. His facial hair overgrown and scraggly, dirt and sweat was worn into the crevasses of his weathered face. His body was heavily draped with a thick fur pelt, make shifted into a long jacket. Deep purple bags hung under his tired eyes. Clarke's heart rose into her throat, she couldn't hear anything around her other than the frantic beating of her heart. Her pupils dilated as heat flushed behind her eyes.
He's alive, it was the only clear thought in her head as she felt the urge to either cry or scream with joy, she couldn't tell which. The same feeling welled in Echo and Octavia as he approached. Clarke was the first to break the silence of disbelief.
"Bellamy?"
Octavia's feet began to pull her towards him, she wanted to hold him. To feel her brother again, to make sure he was real. The guards around them lifted their wrist gauntlets, the sound of them engaging stopped her in her tracks. With her hands raised, she took one step back. Echo shook her head "H-how? We saw you die." Octavia looked at the guards then to Cadogan, her eyes pleading. Cadogan nodded his head to the guards, they disengaged. She was in her brother's arms before the last gauntlet could power down. Hot tears fell down her cheeks and onto his warm shoulder. He squeezed her tightly. How long had it been since he had seen her? It felt like an eternity. They separated slowly, the smile on her face warmed his cold center. Over her shoulder, Clarke's face emerged. She jumped to his chest, she could feel the cold on his back. Her face burrowed into his neck, the soft pelt smelt of old clothes and forest. Bellamy's hands rested on either side of her waist, pulling her in close. She was soft and warm. In a hushed, barely audible voice Clarke whispered into his ear, so close he could feel her lips. "The key is the flame, they think it's still in my head. Say nothing."
They pulled apart looking into each other's eyes, holding the gaze as long as they could.
"Now" Cadogan spoke, Clarke had forgotten he was there. "We'll let you get reacquainted as we make preparations, there has been too much bloodshed already." Clare nodded. The large brigade exited the room, leaving the reunited friends alone.
Bellamy finally spoke, his croaky voice filled the air, all the attention on every sound coming from him.
"I missed you" His eyes darted towards Clarke, their gaze met as he turned to the rest of the group "I've missed all of you"
A warmth filled them all. Clarke struggled to speak; she was still trying to decide what she wanted to say first. Echo beat her to it
"What happened to you? Where have you been?" Bellamy began to explain, to tell the tale of his epic survival for the first time. Octavia felt a hot tear roll down her face as she listened, it burned her soul to hear what he had to endure.
"And that's how I got back" Bellamy finished, taking a breath and staring at the ground.
"You were so strong, and brave- Like always" Clarke spoke softly. The rest of them nodded in agreement. A smile flicked over his face.
The large doors slide open once again. Three guards draped in their combat suits now stood before them. "Clarke Griffin" the largest of the three's voice was deep and raspy. It demanded attention and boomed with years of discipline. "The shepherd requests your presence in the stone room at once" The sting of realization stabbed the group. "Bellamy Blake, You are to be escorted to the medical bay for immediate evaluation."
The group stirred in protest as Clarke took a step towards the door, she turned to them and simply mouthed "It will be ok"
Before they could say another word she was being taken away. Bellamy tried to follow "Mr. Blake, the medical bay is this way" one of the guards gestured in the opposite direction. He felt helpless once again.
Clarke stood before the stone, its bronze exterior shone against the pale white light from the room. A low, barely audible hum vibrated in her chest, the power the stone possessed was evident, even to someone who didn't know much about it, like her. The shepherd lingered right beside her. "I won't do anything unless you send my friends back to Sanctum" she paused for a moment. "All of them" Fire sparked behind her eyes. The tension between the two of them was clear, however, Bill lightly raised his hands. "As discussed it will be done, however-" Clarke tensed "Bellamy has not yet received his exam and treatment in the medical bay. As soon as he is finished there all of your friends will be sent back. And you will access the stone."
She nodded in agreement and began the wait.
Clarke's head was in her hands, hunched over in a sullen chair surrounded by guards. The thoughts of what was to come rushed through her head, fear for what Cadogan would do once he knew she had lied haunted her. Why did he bring her to the stone room if he knew they had to wait on Bellamy? A scare tactic? To intimidate her and shake her resolve. Well, it won't work, I will not falter, I will not give him the satisfaction. Clarke thought angrily.
It had been a few hours since Bellamy had gone to the Medical bay and the anticipation of her friends walking through those doors made her heart race. It skipped a beat when they finally opened. Cadogan stood in front, all her loved ones huddled behind him, their eyes instinctively scanning the room. Bellamy was the first to spot her, his beard was gone now, and his hair was cut short. The natural waves of his black locks fell slightly above his ears. He looked clean, Clarke thought as she stared at him, dressed in new garments. Jeans and a simple gray long sleeve, the same as Octavia's. Her eyes scrolled along every inch of him, taking it all in. He looked handsome, she thought as the group walked towards the stone and she began to stand. He walked towards her with anger behind his steps.
"Clarke I can't let you do this. I worked far too hard to get back to you for you to sacrifice yourself, Again!" He spoke quietly enough for only her to hear.
I understand how you feel but there is no other-"
He interrupted her "No! There is always another way, and you know that. All we have to do is give them what they want. You don't have to be hurt. None of us want your sacrifice. If not me-" he paused "If I don't stop this one of them will."
He motioned to the group now all looking at them. Her throat was tight, she was at a loss for what to do.
"I can't risk Maddie. You know they will come for her, even if we give it to them"
"I won't let anything happen to her." His eyes were pleading to her. "We can work together, let us help you."
She felt tears approaching because she knew she could not fight him, not after just getting him back.
"O-ok." her head nodded
Everyone sighed in relief. Bellamy turned to Cadogan who had slowly moved his way towards them.
"Are you all finally ready?"
"No" Bellamy said, standing in front of him. "The flame is not in Clarke's head anymore. It was damaged when it was removed. But we know where it is."
Cadogan's eyes curved in anger, he had enough of the games. "Guards!" He shouted A large electric hum filled the air as 20 guards activated their gauntlets.
"No, listen. The flame is yours, it is on Sanctum and we promise to give it to you, I know you don't have much reason to trust us but I swear this is the truth. Clarke only wanted to protect us. And with all your technology, repairing it will be easy!" Bellamy stood as a barrier between them and her. Cadogan released an exhausted exhale as he pinched the bridge of his nose and grumbled under his breath.
"Fine! But you will have an escort and only you two go. And I won't hear anything more!"
They knew that was all he would give and agreed defensively. Six guards stood next to them and the portal opened. The green hum began to envelop them, they had no idea what would greet them on the other side.
