Synopsis:

What if Anakin had chosen a different path? Instead of falling to the Dark Side he continued to fight against it? Would Padme survive? Would Leia still meet Han? And what would happen to Emperor Palpatine? The characters depicted in this story belong to Lucas Film clearly, this is more for fun than anything else.

Timeline: Taking place right after the final scene in Attack of the Clones.

Hi everyone! This is the very first Fanfiction I've ever published although I have been writing for a while. I hope you enjoy it, please make sure to leave a review or a comment. Chapter two will be up soon!

Chapter One: Small Pleasures

Anakin turned and looked into the eyes of his wife, Padme. His wife, how strange to think of her as his wife, and yet, it felt right. She smiled and Anakin stroked her hand with his thumb as they strolled across the patio together.

"I'm sorry your parents couldn't celebrate with us, I'm sure a secret wedding ceremony isn't exactly what you had in mind when you pictured your wedding."

Padme chuckled lightly, "No Anakin it isn't, but then again, I never could have imagined a love that would drive me to break the law, consequences be damned."

"Now senator." Anakin gasped in mock astonishment, "Imagine if the senate heard you say such a thing." He laughed and pulled her close as they took in the view from the lake.

Padme broke the silence "I'm sure we'll have to get back to Coruscant soon. I have meetings to attend to and unfortunately I can't claim I've gotten married or everyone will pester me to find out who it was too."

"Well, I may have fixed that slightly.." Anakin started. Padme glanced up at her husband who kept looking across the lake, a slight grin appearing. "Anakin what did you do?" "I may have told the Jedi Council that there were some rumblings that could compromise your safety and so I needed to hide you away for a day or two."

Padme laughed, "Yes and that doesn't seem at all suspicious, you know Obi-Wan will think you're up to something."

"That's the beauty of it, Obi-Wan always thinks I'm up to something, so this won't be out of the ordinary."

"Are you going to be okay, not sharing this with him? I know how close you two are."

Anakin sighed and hugged his wife. "Of course I don't like hiding things from him, he's my master and my friend, but Obi-Wan would never understand this, never understand my reasons or my love for you. Maybe one day I'll tell him when I'm ready to stop being a Jedi, but for now.." he bent down to kiss Padme. "For now, I'll keep my happiness between the two of us. Now, we should probably head back. C3PO said he'd be surprising us with dinner."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?"

"No, but it's better than having one of us cook, plus I knew it would take a while, and I have plans to fill the time."

Anakin grinned as his wife smacked his arm. "Mr. Skywalker you seem to be implying something…" "Yes, I am Mrs. Skywalker, I really.." he kissed her "truly.." he kissed her again "am." and he scooped her up into his arms and began walking back towards the house.

Palpatine paced in his office, he couldn't believe how well it had gone to plan. The clone wars were beginning, the domination of the Sith was finally at hand. He turned and gazed out over the dark streets of Coruscant and tapped the button on his desk that drew the shades across the floor to ceiling windows.

Striding across the room he placed his hand on the hidden panel and with a hiss the door opened revealing his black hooded robe. Draping it around his shoulders, he strode to the middle of the darkening room. Pulling up the hood, he summoned his current apprentice. Static filled the air as the blue shimmering form of Count Dooku appeared.

"Master Sidious" came Dooku's deep foreboding voice.

"It is done my apprentice. You know what you must do."

"I am on my way to Kamino as we speak Master."

"Good, good" cackled Sidious, "Our work continues."

I know this is a short one, I just really wanted to get this first chapter up. More coming soon, I promise!
