Scene 44

"She's finally sleeping, I see," said Kushina at the door to the living room.

Minato was sitting with a little Kaiya resting her head on his lap.

He smiled, "She's so beautiful isn't she?"

Kushina chuckled, "You're such a doting father!"

Minato blushed and gasped, "Father?!"

"Well duh, she's our adopted daughter." crossing her arms.

Minato looked at Kaiya and his face softened, "You're right….I wonder if Kaiya sees me as a father figure."

Kushina came over and helped Minato pick Kaiya up carefully to take her to her bed.

"Of Course she does, even if she doesn't say it or know, she feels it."

Minato tucked Kaiya in who instinctively cuddled into her blankets.

Blushing her hair away from her face.

"I wonder if she'll ever call me father…." he wondered aloud.

…...

Kaiya was sleeping on a cot in the hidden cave Sasuke and Tobi had been hiding out in.

Strangely, even though she had to be on her guard, Kaiya felt no threat and was so exhausted she fell fast asleep.

Was it because of Sasuke?

How much he looked like Itachi now.

Even his voice…

Kaya looked up at the candle-lit darkness around her.

Getting up, she then went outside where she could look up at the sky.

"You're awake?" asked a voice.

Kaiya turned startled and her hand laid on her kunai pouch.

Sasuke.

"I won't hurt you, I already promised that, and I won't let any harm happen to you either."

Kaiya nodded but didn't know what to say.

Sasuke stared at her and then continued, "Why are you here exactly, is it for Naruto?"

Kaiya sighed.

If she could bring Sasuke back, it would overjoy Naruto, but she knew she couldn't.

"Your partner Tobi, he mentioned something when he visited us; he regarded me as a 'moon princess' and that I had a tie with the Sage of Six Paths. I wanted to learn more, that's all."

Sasuke nodded and looked at Kaiya.

He then noticed it.

The feeling of familiarity with her.

How close she felt to him.

Tobi was on to something, but what exactly?

Did Itachi get that same feeling?

Sasuke then went to inform Kaiya, "Tobi went on an errand, but he'll be back by nighttime."

This Sasuke was different.

He was very direct and curt.

Sasuke offered breakfast and Kaiya followed him.

Meanwhile, in the back of her mind, she thought of Itachi.

"Sasuke,' she tugged from his shirt behind to stop him and laid her head on his back. Crying. 'I miss him so much, I was too late. I couldn't stop him. I keep thinking back to it and I wonder if I could've stopped Itachi from allowing you to fight him. For allowing you to get revenge. That instead he could tell you the truth and help you. I know I said I wouldn't get in the way, but I do miss the old you. The little innocent boy I met so long ago…"

Sasuke stopped and started down before turning around to see a crying Kaiya clutching herself.

He sighed and hugged her, "you worry too much." Then wiping the tears off her face.

Kaiya looked up at him and stared into his dark eyes.

Itachi…

But Kakashi went past her mind.

It had been so weird for her since she had sex with Kakashi.

That night was weird.

She didn't feel like herself something took over her body and she was possessed.

Kaiya didn't feel like she chose to have sex.

She loves Kakashi.

But the moon that night….

Moon princess

That pale woman in her dreams…

"Kaiya… ' Sasuke broke her trail of thought, 'do you forgive me? "

Kaiya was silent.

"You want to destroy everything I know though… "

Sasuke grabbed her hands though, "but not you Kaiya not your child, my nephew. ' he gulped, 'Kaiya I love you, loved you since I met you. I know now it's not a schoolboy crush!" And he surprised her with a kiss.

Kaiya pushed him and gasped.

Touching her lips.

"Sasuke!"

He stared at her.

He looked so much like Itachi.

Please stop, she begged in her head.

Stop looking like him!

He came closer again.

I can't think. I'm not feeling well.

His lips again on hers.

Kakashi I'm sorry.

Kissing back.

I miss Itachi too much.

Following Sasuke.

Her mind is in knots like a tangled snake.

Snakes.

Orochimaru.

Sasuke killed Orochimaru.

Sasuke saved me.

In a dark room.

"Pretend I'm him… " he whispered.

This isn't me.

Who am I?

But I want this.

I want this

He saved me from my nightmares.

But he killed my love.

Why am I like this?

Helpless

But before they progressed something stopped Kaiya.

Sasuke stared at her in the candle-lit room.

But something was different.

Kaiya's eyes.

The rinnegan.

"That's it,' he started, 'you'll never be satisfied. You to hate as well. It's in your eyes. You just needed something to trigger it. "Whispering.

Kaiya didn't know what he meant, but part of her felt it.

Ran outside of wherever she was.

This wasn't her, what was this.

She kept running,

Crying.

Her eyes were burning.

Not in pain.

But in sadness.

Kaiya then tripped on a branch and fell to the ground sobbing.

I hate myself.

I hate myself

I ruin everything.

I ruined Minato and Kushina.

I ruined Itachi.

I ruined Sasuke.

I ruined Naruto.

I ruined Kakashi.

I'm ruined.

I hate everything…..

I hate…..

And instantly Kaiya looked up and saw the pale woman with bunny ears.

"My darling, you finally are telling yourself the truth. What do you hate?"

Holding out her hand to the vulnerable Kaiya.

Kaiya shuddered and clenched the dirt on the ground, unable to lookup anymore.

"I hate the world. I hate everything. I hate my existence."

She felt a hand then pat her head, smoothing out her hair.

"My dear child, you are 'hate', you were born from it. I know because you hold my hate."

"What do you mean?" asked Kaiya, wiping her eyes.

"You are my conceived hate. Born from when I once was in love with a mortal boy who broke my heart. Now you are experiencing all the heartache I went through. Unable to decipher right and wrong."

Kaiya didn't understand, but before she could ask more questions, the lady disappeared again.

Leaving Kaiya utterly alone.

Sitting up, she blankly stared at the sky.

It was cold.

She then noticed a small puddle near her and crawled to it.

Gasping at her eyes in the reflection.

She held the rinnegan symbol.

Quickly it vanished and her eyes went back to normal.

Kaiya then stood up and like a ghost, she drifted back to Konoha.
