Jay had entered surgery a few hours ago, there was still no news of his condition. Everyone was waiting for Crockett to arrive with news.

The hours passed, Erin was trying to contain her emotions and be strong, but the others noticed how devastated she was since she saw Jay's condition, she couldn't stop seeing Jay hanging from his arms with gunshot wounds, all this was on Erin's head, until Crockett came along.

They all got up and went to him.

"Crockett, how is he?" - Will approached him.

"Jay lost a lot of blood, we managed to get the bullet out of his chest and the one in his foot." - Crockett explained.

"He had a bullet in his foot?" - Erin asked.

"Jay has three gunshot wounds: one to the foot, one to the chest and one to the shoulder."

"But is he going to be, okay?" - Erin wanted to know.

"It is still too early to say, Jay has most of the bones broken, and from the skull fracture he has a swelling in the brain, which indicates that he may have brain damage. He also has shattered knees and most of his ribs are broken. " - Crockett explained.

Erin started crying, she couldn't believe what they were saying.

"Crockett, is Jay going to live? Please don't lie to me. " - Will wanted to know the truth.

"The next few hours are crucial, but there is a good chance that he will suffer from organ failure and die." - Crocket said as he took Will's shoulder trying to comfort him.

Erin was breaking down inside, Jay could die, and she wasn't going to be able to tell him that she was pregnant and that he was going to be a dad.

"Can we ... go see it?" - Erin asked.

"Of course, he is still asleep from the medications we gave him." - Crockett said as he led them to the room where Jay was.

Erin and Will came to the room and saw him, he was lying there on the bed and connected to machines that kept him alive. The two of them couldn't hold back tears when they saw Jay.

"Jay? ... You can't leave me little brother; you are the only family I have left ... don't leave me." - Will said as he took his hand and began to cry.

"Jay… it's Erin, you have to be strong, everyone needs you, I need you. Please wake up..." - Erin said.

Will and Erin only stayed a few minutes, Crockett had told them that he had to rest. Erin went to the waiting room where everyone was.

As they talked about Jay and tried to comfort Will, something interrupted them.

"CODE BLUE. CODE BLUE. CODE BLUE."

Erin turned to see what was happening and watched as the doctors and nurses ran into Jay's room.

"What's going on?" - Kim asked.

"Jay!" - Will ran into the room.

Nobody knew what was going on, they saw Will run to Jay's room after they heard "Code Blue", the only thing it did was worry Erin more.

After two hours, Will returned to the waiting room, to tell what had happened.

"Will, what happened? Is Jay, okay? " - Erin asked.

"One of his lungs collapsed and he went into shock. The doctors were able to fix it. And they were able to make the swelling in his brain go down. " - Will explained.

"And this is good?" - Voight asked him.

"Yes, it means that he is going to wake up in a few hours and the important thing is that he is out of danger." - Will said with relief.

"But I have to tell you that Jay is going to have a long recovery, his knees are shattered, and one of his feet was shot."

"But is he going to be able to return by force?" - Adam asked.

"Yes, after three months of physical therapy, he will be ready to return." - Will told him.

Everyone was relieved to learn that the worst was over, and that Jay was out of the woods.

But it wasn't all happiness, they still had to find James and arrest him for what he had done to Jay.

"Erin, we are going back to the district. We have to find Ray." - Voight told him.

"I'm going with you ..." - Erin took her coat.

"You won't come with us; you are going to stay. You need to be here when Halstead wakes up, I'll keep you posted. " - Voight told him before leaving.

Back in the district, everyone was searching cameras near the warehouse to find out where James had fled.

"Do you have something?" - Voight asked.

"Sarge, look at this." - Hailey showed Voight a video of a man leaving the warehouse.

"It has to be Ray." - Hailey said.

"Well, I want to know where he went after that, we need to find him now." - Voight ordered.

"I have an idea." - Kevin said.

"James doesn't know Jay is alive, he thinks Jay died in that warehouse, we can use that to his advantage and he's going to let his guard down." - Kevin explained the idea to him.

"Sarge he's right." - Kim agreed with Kevin's idea.

"I'll take care of that; you guys find out where Ray is hiding." - Voight said before entering his office.
