Chapter 10: Rubik's Cube Invitations

One cool second Saturday of July 2021, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Rebecca Chase's house in Springdale. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Rebecca was making her Rubik's Cube Invitations for her Totally '80s Sleepover in 2 weeks. "So, tell us a little bit about yourself, Rebecca," James stated. "Well, I have decided to throw an '80s sleepover because it seemed like a really good decade to grow up in, and I wanted to see what life was like back then," Rebecca explained. "I can also remember dates very well, too!" "Does that include remembering other people's birthdays?" I asked. "I was worried that Sarah and Henri forgot my birthday when they were just planning on doing something nice for me!" "We just wanted to make it a special day, that's all," Henri stated. "Not to mention, there were a lot of gloomy, cold, and cloudy days in April of your senior year, like that one day when Sarah and Henri planned the party for me," I pointed out. "For the record, when is your birthday, Rebecca?" "April 7," Rebecca explained. "Just 4 days after yours." "What was your high school graduation ceremony like, Rebecca?" James asked. "I remember my graduation from high school, and it felt magical, yet bittersweet starting a new chapter in my life!" "Too bad I couldn't attend because I was too young," Henri pointed out. "Speaking of which, there is something different about you that I notice, Sarah," I told my friend. "Can I try and guess what it is?" "Sure," Sarah replied. "Well, you are wearing your graduation dress and shoes and your toenails are painted light pink instead of dark pink, and... you dyed your hair dark brown!" I exclaimed. "Well, I am trying to change up my image for a week, just to see what it feels like," Sarah explained. "I do this once a year in the summertime just to see what it is like being a whole new person." "I also heard that you guys like the music of Santana," Rebecca pointed out. "Of course, we love our dance anthem 'Into the Night'," James explained. "I remember hearing that song for the first time back in 2nd grade and immediately loving it," Rebecca continued. "It would be cool to revisit the song in college, just like you guys do!" "Well, I guess we better go deliver the invitations now," I stated. "We have even more fun ahead of us this evening, with watching Improv at the office, and we will probably pass by your old high school on the way down!" "Oh, okay," Rebecca replied. We then helped Rebecca deliver the invitations to her guests Laura, Aly, Lindsey, and Taylor before meeting our other friends at the Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties office in Monroeville for a view on Improv sessions. It was around that time that we were splitting up into different offices. Sarah, James, and Henri were going to work at the Ross Township location, Carly, Spencer, and Mr. Benson were going to work at the Monroeville location, and Alex, Justin, and Max were going to work at the new Upper St. Clair location. We also learned that the Ross Township location was focused more on planning parties at the shopping mall, the Upper St. Clair location will focus more on planning birthday parties, and the Monroeville location is obviously focused more on planning sleepover parties. After our Improv shows were over, Sarah, James, and Henri drove me back to my mentor, Jenna's apartment in Point Breeze. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Bye, guys!" "Bye!"
