He said, "Let's get out of this town
Drive out of the city, away from the crowds"
It was a camp she'd repeatedly told her parents she did not want to help at. Sure she loved the arts, but she wanted to stay in Lima for the summer, practise her singing. Take part in a summer musical or two. She didn't like the fact she was stuck sleeping in a bathroom less hut and eating disgusting half cooked food at a camp she didn't even want to be a part of.
I thought heaven can't help me now
Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down
She'd reached the camp and immediately been told to help clean a load of huts. Then the chef had asked her to help prep meals for the first night and then finally she'd spent three hours enrolling students. She collapsed into her seat at the table and offered a smile to the person next to her, not even bothering to take in who they were.
She jumped when she heard a familiar voice speak. "Hi Tina."
"Mike Chang." She stated, earning a chuckle.
He's so tall and handsome as hell,
He's so bad but he does it so well,
I can see the end as it begins,
My one condition is,
"Where?" Teased Mike as he turned to look around, feigning shock.
She rolled her eyes. "What I meant to say is that I wasn't expecting to see you here."
"Yeah well I normally help with football, but glee club inspired me and this summer I'm teaching the arts."
Her eyes widened.
Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress
The next morning she was up early for a seven am meeting with the rest of the camp arts teachers. First they were given a talk on camplife, camp rules and other important things they were allocated their roles. Mike had told Tina at dinner that he hoped to teach dance, but all dance roles were given out and Mike was not given one. "Tina Cohen-Chang singing with five to eight year olds, your assistant will be Mike Chang." The organiser announced before moving on. Tina sighed, and looked to Mike who shot her a smirk.
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again
That morning in activity hut F, Tina, Mike and twenty children began their first lesson on the arts.
"My name is Tina." Tina introduced herself. "and this," She gestured to Mike, stood beside her with a grin. "is Mike. And we're going to teach you all about singing."
Even if it's just in your wildest dreams, ah-ha
Wildest dreams, ah-ha
As the first day reached an end, Tina was happy. She'd spent some time with Mike at McKinley, but not much, they'd once danced together and they'd once tried to work out which one of them was Asian and which one was Other Asian, they had both agreed that the nickname wasn't okay, but Sue Sylvester wouldn't listen to them. Otherwise they'd only seen each other in glee club and they'd not talked to each other much then. It was nice to have a familiar face and get to know the real Mike Chang.
I said, "No one has to know what we do"
His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room
Day two she couldn't help, but watch Mike as interacted with their students. There was something about him that made him captivating to her and she wasn't sure where she stood with Artie, but he wasn't picking up her calls. So she'd decided to allow herself at least a little flirting with Mike. After all they were both single.
And his voice is a familiar sound
Nothing lasts forever but this is getting good now
By day three she was laughing with him over breakfast as they enjoyed some fresh fruit that Mike's mom had shown up with. Then they wondered into activity hut F where they had a little practise before their students arrived.
Halfway through the song she was singing, he leant in and kissed her. It wasn't until she heard gasps that she realised how long the kissing had gone on for. Blushing beet red she pulled away from him.
He's so tall and handsome as hell
He's so bad but he does it so well
They didn't speak too each other for the rest of the day. It wasn't that she was avoiding him, but she also wasn't seeking him out so when he cornered her at the evening's campfire she let him speak to her.
"I didn't mean to freak you out with the kiss." He told her.
"You didn't." She truthfully told him, as she placed her marshmallow over the fire to toast.
Mike mirrored his reaction with his own marshmallow, as he turned to face her. "Is that why you ignored me?" He questioned.
She sighed. "I didn't ignore you."
"Yeah well you didn't talk to me." He responded.
"Okay this is how I feel." She leaned forward and kissed him, this time they both deepend it. When they pulled back their marshmallows were burned black, but they were both smiling.
Mike reached out and took her hand. "Feeling noted." He informed her.
And when we've had our very last kiss
My last request is
Day four started with a post tooth brushing make out session and then a lesson in which Tina allowed Mike to take and teach the kids some dance. After that Tina worked with half the kids while Mike worked with the other half both of them exchanging looks across the hut.

Day five's class started with a pupil raising their hand. When Tina told them they could ask, the six year old child innocently looked between Tina and Mike. "Are you two in love?" Both Tina and Mike blushed beat red.

"So are we in love?" Mike asked Tina a glisten in his eyes and a smirk on his face.
"Yes Mike, I barely spoke to you at Glee but in five days I've fallen head over in love with you." Tina responded, her voice laced with sarcasm.
Mike stuck his tongue out at her.

"But seriously," Mike smiled. "when we get out of here do you fancy a proper date?"
She beamed back at him. "I would love too."
You'll see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burnin' it down
Day six was activity day and they'd somehow ended up on the canoe team. Between them they were in charge of steering a canoe that had six kids in with them, despite the fact that neither of them had ever gotten into a canoe before.
"Mike that's left." Tina snapped at him as they hit the river bank for the fourth time.
"Miss Tina, I'm a little bit scared!" One of the children admitted.
"Yeah we keep going into the river." Another one agreed.
Tina sighed. "Okay." She nodded. "Oars in." She instructed.
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around
She didn't know how they'd survived the canoeing, she really didn't. Between her, Mike and a bunch of ten year olds, she was pretty sure they'd damaged every section of the river bank and almost definately the canoe itself. They'd finished by tipping the canoe upside down, thankfully as everyone was half way out and almost at the shore, but they'd still all gotten soaked.
"That was traumatic." Mike stated as they walked back to their accommodation.
"If we do that for our first date I promise you there will not be a second." Tina responded.
You'll see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burnin' it down
Day seven started with a shock for Tina as a cockroach fell onto her head. She screamed until one of the women in a close by hut removed it for her, but she didn't manage to go back to sleep after that.
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around
She was grouchy at breakfast and Mike clearly knew it, so he kept the conversation light and smuggled her a rogue pop tart so she didn't have to eat the slightly dubious looking toast on offer.

Then it was class. It was their last day with the kids and so Tina had planned a load of fun activities finishing with a mini talent show. After everyone had taken their final bows Mike gave Tina a smile. "You can see who the Rachel Berry's of the group are." He stated with a chuckle. Tina nodded her agreement.

Even if it's just pretend
Packing down the room took much longer than she'd anticipated. There wasn't that much stuff, but the sheet music they had had gone everywhere and so as she hunted for it all, Mike tidied the rest of the room and they chatted together about the week and about the latest Glee Club gossip, Finn and Rachel had maybe broken up again and Brittany had caught Lord Tubbington stealing and wanted advice. They agreed they didn't have much advice for Brittany, and that Finn and Rachel could break up again for all they cared. It didn't phase them.

Then they took a wall by the lake, hand in hand as they chatted. This time they were discussing what their plans were for the rest of summer.
"Honestly," Mike told her with a small smile. "now I'm thinking spending time with you."
"Good." Tina beamed. "Cause I was thinking the same thing."

When her parents asked her how she enjoyed camp, Tina gave then a beam despite fact she was having to bite back on what they'd previously said. "It was just perfect." She grinned.
