Staring out of her bedroom window, the Seattle rain ran down the glass as she traced her finger along with the droplets. The soft music playing in the background and the candle lit on her dresser kept her at ease.
Being startled by the sudden roar of thunder, she heard her door close bringing her out of her thoughts. Relaxing seeing the person that just walked into the room. She turned back around and continued to gaze at the pouring rain.
She cracked open the window slightly so she could hear the rain more, and walked over to her bed. Climbing on the mattress and sliding to the headboard, she sat next to the person that was once on the bed alone. He was already under the comforter and made himself comfortable.
"How was today?" He asked her handing her the fast food bag that he had brought in with her.
"It was fine" She said running her hand through her hair, then taking the food out of the bag. "Thank you...What are you doing here?"
He nodded at her, gesturing that she was welcome.
"Figured you were mad at somebody, not me, but somebody." He said smiling at her.
"How'd you come to that conclusion?" She asked chuckling lightly.
"You didn't text me when Claude dropped you off." He said referring to her driver and she nodded.
"Why weren't you at school, today?" She asked stuffing a french fry in her mouth.
"Went to a few colleges... checked them out." He said grabbing his burger from the bag.
"That's nice, they were close by?" She said and he nodded and her mind wandered off to nothing specific.
The boy noticed how Andy wasn't really in the right state of mind so he bluntly asked her, "Have you taken your meds?"
She looked at him and slightly shook her head knowing that she was about to get scolded. The boy that sat next to her was 17, a couple of months older than her, but he was very mature. He was playful, but when it was time to get serious, he could turn the perky switch off with a quickness.
"And-" He started but was cut off by her voice.
"You know I don't like taking them..." She paused. "Plus, I'm fine." She said.
"You're not." He said and took a sip of the water that was on the nightstand. "You wanna know how I know?" He asked.
"Not really." She said.
"The vein on your head..." He said moving her hair out if the way.
"It's pulsating..." They said together, but her tone was more of a mocking one.
He flipped her off causing her to laugh and smack his hand.
"Plus, your hand." He said grabbing it in his trying to stop it from shaking. "Is shaking."
"You think you know me so well, huh?" She said shaking her head smiling.
"I know I do." He said finishing up his food and putting the wrapper back in the bag. "You taking them before I leave."
She sighed and sipped from her drink.
"Was my mom downstairs?" She asked and he saw that she was finished and also put her trash in the bag.
"I didn't see her. I came in through the garage." He said.
"I knew I should've told my dad to change the code when we broke up." She said playfully and he pushed her shoulder.
"Shut up, you know you love me." He said dusting off imaginary dust off of his shoulders. "Where is he?"
"At the station, he had more stuff to do" She and laid back onto the pillow that was behind her.
"Sit up really quick" He said to her and she raised up from where she once laid.
He put his arm where she was laying and she laid right back down as her head landed on his chest. He ran his hands through her hair trying to ease her.
"What's bothering you." He asked as he grabbed her hand trying to palliate her shaking hand.
She didn't speak right away, she just moved her body closer to his and put her arm around his torso. It was silent for a good five minutes but he didn't ask again because he knew that she would answer it eventually. Hearing footsteps coming up the stairs, they stayed in their position. It was followed by a knock and her telling whoever it was to come inside.
The door opened revealing her Dad in his Seattle Fire Department's Crew Neck. Andy still laying on his chest she looked at her Dad.
"Hey, Dad." Andy said
He walked inside and over to the bed where they were and kissed her on her forehead and gave the boy a fist bump.
"What's up Cap." He said still running his fingers through her hair.
"How you doing, Son." He said being completely unphased by the sight in front of him, simply because he was like a son to the Captain. "How's your parents? How's Ella?" He asked referring to his five year old sister.
"They're pretty good." He replied. After having a ten minute conversation with Andy's father, he left them alone and closed the door after himself.
Leaving them in silence for another thirty minutes, nothing but the heavy rain against the windows to be heard.
"We're moving." She blurted out.
Finally telling him what was bothering her all this time, she squeezed the hand he was holding and looked up at him. He had an unreadable expression wiped over his face.
"Where to?" He asked.
"Not far, they want a change..." She said still trying to read his facial expression. "We will still be in Seattle. Probably still this part of town."
He had a feeling that she wasn't telling him everything that she wanted.
"What else?" He asked, afraid of what the answer might be.
"What do you me-" She started but was cut off.
"Andy, just tell me." He said becoming impatient.
"My mom's pregnant." She said and his head moved to look at her.
"So that's the real reason why you're upset." He said putting two and two together.
"No, it's not. We're moving." She said but he didn't buy it.
"You're upset because you won't be the only child anymore."
"No, I'm not. Like I said we're moving. I don't want to move. This is the house I grew-" She started again but got cut off again.
"You hate this house, Andy. Hush." He said "Be happy for your mom and dad."
He saw her roll her eyes and knew at that moment that, that is what had been bothering her. He got up and looked confused at the sudden motion. He went over to her dresser and grabbed her medicine bottles and she once again rolled her eyes.
"Get your water." He said opening the correct bottle. She reached over to her nightstand and grabbed the water.
"You're about to leave?" She asked him and he shook his head.
"Not yet. Maybe in about an hour." He said putting to capsules into her hand.
She put them both in the back of her mouth and washed it down with beverage.
"Can you stay the night?" She asked him.
"You know Cap ain't going for that."
She gave him a look.
"What's new now? You've snuck out multiple times when we were together. What's different?" She asked drinking a little bit more water. "You have some clothes here for school in the morning."
"Please?" She asked in a winey tone. "Please, Sully."
