A/N: I've been reading fanfiction here for a couple of years now, but I finally decided to write some myself. I've always loved writing so I don't know why I haven't thought of this before. I'm gonna be writing this story in my own tempo. I have a lot going on and this will just be a creative outlet, if it brings me too much stress or stops being fun, I'll stop lol. But yeah, Idk how many people will like or even find this story but here we go I guess. Future chapters will be longer, this is just a "test".
Standing in front of the mirror, dressed up in a pencil skirt paired with a white button-up. Her hair pulled back in a high ponytail, just like in her highschool days. Was this appropriate attire for a first day of work? She thought so. Maybe she should button one more button so she wouldn't have to deal with the inevitable creeps ogling her chest the entire day? Eh, fuck it. She looked smoking and was not in any way, shape, or form sacrificing that for a more "professional" look, screw her parents. She took a deep breath and made her way out of her bedroom, towards the kitchen.
"Santana!", a voice called from the dining table, startling her.
"Geez Quinn, you fucking scared me", she answered, picking up her phone that she had dropped. Santana walked over to Quinn and dragged out the chair opposite of her, sitting down.
"Nervous?", Quinn knowingly asked, and Santana immediately averted her gaze.
"What makes you think that?", she scoffed.
"Oh please, come on, the walls in this apartment are incredibly thin, I could practically hear you tossing and turning all night", Quinn answered, taking a bite of her sandwich. Santana sighed.
"Q, I'm not nervous. I'll be working at a fucking paper-company. There's not exactly a lot of room to fuck up." she took a deep breath "Oh my god… this is gonna be completely insufferable, isn't it?".
Quinn chuckled.
"Well, it's better than working at a coffee shop"
"Hey, hold up. You get free coffee! What am I supposed to get? A discount on an industrial copier? Fucking fantastic." Santana stood up and poured herself a cup of coffee and sat back down again. "What are you doing up anyway? It's like 7 am or something"
"7 am? Santana, it's 8:30" Quinn stated.
Santana took a good look at the clock hanging in the kitchen. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!" she collected her stuff in a frenzy and then ran to the kitchen, dumping her coffee down the drain. "Fuck Q, why didn't you wake me up?" Santana struggled to get her coat on but somehow still managed to end up looking presentable. Quinn just sat there watching her.
"Fuck Quinn, my dad is gonna be so angry, I can't fuck this up! He went through enough shit to get me this job and now he's probably gonna have to convince them not to fire me too". Santana was about to step out the door when Quinn called after her.
"That's at least ten dollars in the swear jar" Quinn smirked.
"Fuck you" Santana flashed her a condescending smile and slammed the door shut behind her.
It was still dark outside when Brittany walked up towards the tall office building with "The Pages" printed in big letters on the side of it. She had slept in today but luckily made it to the office with five minutes to spare. She hung her coat on the hanger and was just about to sit down at her desk when her boss appeared out of nowhere.
"Ah, Pierce! Just who I was looking for. Can I talk to you in my office for a second?" Will asked and opened the door just behind him. Brittany nodded and walked in, flashing Will a shy smile when she passed him. There had been rumors going around about budget cuts, so naturally, panic-mode instantly kicked in. Will saw the concerned look on Brittany's face as he sat down behind his desk.
"Oh Brittany, it's nothing to worry about, you're one of my best employees you know. I just have a special little assignment for you today" He smiled and gestured with his hand for her to sit down.
"Oh, okay" Brittany released a breath she didn't even realize she'd been holding and sat down in the chair opposite of her boss. "What type of assignment?".
"Well, as I'm sure you know, corporate is breathing down my neck regarding budget cuts and stuff like that" Will took a deep breath. "But in spite of that, we have a new hire coming in today"
Brittany raised her eyebrows.
"Look, I'm doing this as a favor to her father. The guy helped deliver the twins and took really good care of Emma and me. I don't even know if this girl has any kind of qualifications, he didn't give me her resume. So, I need your help"
"Uhm, okay" Brittany nodded. "What do you need me to do?"
"I just need you to show her the ropes. Oh, and bring her to your sales meeting today, let her get a feel for it, you know."
"Absolutely. When is she coming in?" Brittany glanced at the clock on Will's office wall.
"Well… she was supposed to be here half an hour ago, which doesn't bode for a good start" Will sighed and rubbed his forehead.
"It really doesn't" Brittany said as she exited her boss's office.
