(22) Super Soldier Serum
Morgana's mouth parted as she inhaled deeply. She rolled from her side to her back pressing her palms to her forehead. The adrenaline she usually felt when waking up was colliding with the grogginess she felt after Wrynn's healing. Considering how much healing she needed from the dagger and how long she was out for, the grogginess wasn't leaving anytime soon.
Morgana looked around the room then as her vision came in and out. It was very… luxurious. A fireplace in the corner, soft clean looking furniture, and Stormwind Keep's signature white stone walls. An attached bath area that she envied.
Morgana's eyes went wide as the memory returned. Although the first time she was here she didn't look around much, but the Prince's room was nearly unforgettable the night she attempted to snipe a rogue.
She sighed now covering her face with her hands.
It's getting worse.
"Morgana?" he called to her, knocking on the door. "Are you decent?"
Morgana looked down, seeing her dress still intact but slightly askew. She adjusted it accordingly before calling back to him. She tried sitting up but a few of the major muscles needed were still dormant.
He smiled, "The grogginess might last a while this time."
Morgana lay back down looking up at the ceiling, "Anything else has happened since I've been out?"
A pause, "He says he's getting close to completing a serum."
Morgana's eyes went wide.
I thought he'd given up on it.
"What is it?" Wrynn asked, seeing the shock in her face.
"If he completes it…" Morgana trailed off. "It'll be his masterpiece."
She glanced over at Wrynn then, "It's his Super Soldier Serum. He hasn't talked about it in maybe a year. I thought he gave up on it."
Wrynn eyebrows crashed together for a moment.
"Designed to enhance performance while eliminating hunger and exhaustion," Morgana finished.
She watched him put the piece together in his mind, "A soldier that doesn't need to stop?"
Morgana nodded.
"He's been so… war hungry lately," he added after a moment.
Morgana chuckled, "He's always been like that."
"It's concerning."
Morgana sighed, "I know."
Another moment of silence.
"How will you know when it's complete?" Wrynn asked.
Morgana's lips went flat for a moment thinking of an appropriate answer that wouldn't startle the Prince.
"I won't ever talk to you again," she answered now, staring off into the distance.
"You mean you won't tell me?"
"No," Morgana groaned. "I mean I'll be his prototype and if it works he will have complete control of everything my body does or doesn't do."
"You?" Wrynn responded with wide eyes.
Morgana smiled meekly as she turned to him, "Who else do you think tests all his new toys?"
"You're his daughter!" Wrynn exclaimed, now getting slightly emotional.
"No, I'm not," she responded. "I'm-"
Quick heavy footsteps grew louder in the hallway approaching Wrynn's door.
Morgana quickly scrambled to her feet only to roll off the bed and land hard on her side. Most of her muscles were still shaky from the healing as she propped herself up and glanced back at the door. Wrynn came down beside her with more concern in his eyes than Morgana cared for.
"It's him," she said. "His patience has finally worn out."
Wrynn shook his head, "Farron doesn't know where you are."
"He hasn't known for the past night but he-" Morgana trailed off reaching up to her neck.
She remembered Khadgar breaking her irons which was normally a way for Farron to control where she could and could not go. If the irons had been off that long surely her father was in a rampage trying to find her. If he found her here… in the Prince's bedroom…
It would be off to the house.
"Morgana," Wrynn spoke her name softly.
She popped back to reality seeing his face dangerously close to her with both hands cupping her cheeks. Morgana locked eyes with his still overwhelmed with how blue they were. She raised one hand to his feeling the Light radiating gently.
"One should never have this much fear over their father," Wrynn said, caressing her cheek with his thumb.
Morgana shuddered as she slowly turned her head away from the sensation closing her eyes. Was he toying with her? She didn't feel the need for more healing. Or was it a distraction from the footsteps she heard?
"I'll never understand your sensitivity," Wrynn said with a smile.
Morgana let out a yelp as he lifted her off the floor, "Wrynn!"
He held her for a moment as Morgana nearly clutched onto him for stability. There she was in the Prince's private bedroom in his arms wearing a gown made for royalty. He'd tended to her wounds multiple times now and didn't seem to be bothered by it. It was all out of a fantasy for her and she knew it would end soon enough.
"You know," Wrynn started after setting her gently back down on the bed. "You're very still when you sleep."
A smile tugged on her lips, "All the survival training over the years in the forest."
Sleeping in trees became a specialty of hers after fall out of so many. Small caves or dens were also part of hunter survival training. Farron made sure that she was a well rounded hunter mastering as much as she could before she was handed her first sniper.
He sat down on the bed with her, "I thought it was your feign death trick again."
Morgana laughed with him, "For a whole night? I'm sure that would give you quite the scare if I wasn't breathing for a whole night."
"Again, you were abnormally still," Wrynn replied, keeping it light.
"So you're telling me you thrash around in your sleep?" Morgana asked with a coy smile.
"I can definitely say that you've fallen out of bed more often than I have."
The door to Wrynn's bedroom flew open, causing both him and Morgana to flinch. Wrynn cried out as a sharp bolt forced him to the ground. Morgana glanced up from him to her father standing in the doorway.
"And you thought you were the only one with mage friends," Farron spoke as Wrynn glared up at him. "I will take you to the full extent of Stormwind's laws after kidnapping my daughter."
Morgana threw her legs off the bed still feeling weak from Wrynn's abilities.
"I hope your final night was worth it," Farron spoke, entering the room slowly. "It's time."
Morgana felt a harsh sting in her eyes as she watched Farron slowly bring up a syringe in his hand. The serum was complete. All his years of work had finally come to fruition. Everything he wanted for both himself and the Alliance was in that liquid. Now it was time to show it off and who else to do so than the one he'd trained her whole life.
Morgana glanced down to Wrynn with a slight tug on her mouth in a final farewell. She'd hoped he'd realize how she wasn't his daughter; but his property. If she strayed; he tightened the leash; if she disobeyed; he broke her harder. Now that he'd had enough of her antics it was the moment he'd wanted for a while; total control.
Wrynn only watched her then unable to move or speak. His eyes were filled with panic as the tool Farron used to immobilize him still shot through his body.
Morgana glanced over to the window then as Farron reached out towards her. One final look at the morning sky before her fate was changed forever. Stormwind was her home as much as she didn't have many fond memories of it but she would miss it's liveliness and it's beauty.
Farron grabbed a fistful of her hair forcing her head down to her knees exposing her neck.
"You're an embarrassment otherwise," Farron spoke, holding her down. "You let your mother's fantasies run wild in that head of yours."
Morgana knew she had been "slipping" for a while. She let her mother's dreams encourage her to attempt a life to have all her own. Leading her down the path forcing her father to finish his greatest creation. Morgana could play the "if onlys" for her last few moments as she felt the needle hit her neck.
"If you're lucky," Farron said with a smirk. "You'll feel all of it."
A sharp pinch then was felt on the back of her neck causing her to flinch. Morgana felt the needle sink deeper into her skin hitting the bones of her spine and neck. Morgana let in a sharp inhale as the serum was injected. It burned. It itched. It ached.
"Farron!" Wrynn cried out.
Morgana's breath felt hollow then as shivers bolted up her spine to the needle. Her body turned numb as she wasn't able to feel the bed beneath her or the pain from the fistful of hair her father had. Morgana's vision strengthened as she saw every stitch of fabric in her dress. Her hearing was now immaculate as conversations from down the hall were softly mumbled.
"Now she's perfect," Farron harshly whispered, ripping the needle from her neck and pulling her back up aggressively.
The last thing Morgana remembered was her vision turning grey.
