I have not watched the film of Prince Caspian, but I've heard quite a bit of the Suspian romance. Any other changes I don't know about, aren't in here: but humour me for a moment and pretend Susan and Caspian really were together somehow. Oh, and that Caspian actually looked like he does in the films. Also humour me in that I haven't watched the film and thus don't know how that bit actually goes, I'm making it up.
Their gazes met, connected as if by a streak of fire, branding her very soul. He looked at her with a flash of desperation in his dark eyes.
Goodbye. The word caught in her throat, thick and painful, too painful to say aloud. We've got to go.
But he knew it, she supposed, because he took half a step towards her and lifted his hand slightly, then dropped it again, as if it wouldn't do any good.
The arch was there, waiting for them to walk through it, and never see Narnia again.
She put her hands, hesitantly, on Peter's shoulders, then wrenched them away and ran to him, almost knocking him over in her desperation.
"Susan!" Caspian uttered, startled, and then she cut him off with a desperate kiss. He responded instantly, wrapping his arms tightly around her and leaning into it. She had never kissed anyone, but somehow this was perfect.
As if from a long way away, she heard Peter shout something, but this was more important, the here and now, all of Caspian himself.
Then Aslan's voice shattered the illusion of safety, comfort and excitement.
"Dear child, release him. It will be better so."
She did so, suddenly feeling cold as his warmth failed to embrace her.
"Aslan - please - can't I stay?" Her voice caught. "Please."
I'll be back with two other ones in a moment - with two alternative endings to this thing! By the way, have you gone back and looked at 'Ten Years: Before' since I updated it and posted 'The Tale of Alambil'? It's different now! And I hope better - not that anyone's told me. ;)
