Season One; Episode Two.
Spencer Hastings was good at hiding when she wasn't truly Spencer Hastings; she was taught from a very young age to smile no matter what was going on. She began to drive home through the small town of Rosewood, and she felt sick with the current news. As she drove through town, she passed Alison's house; well...they were neighbors before she went missing. She noticed all of the boxes and more; she frowned. She had no idea that the DiLaurentis family was moving back in.
She let out a breath and pulled into her own driveway, climbing out of her car. She headed into the barn house; it was almost finished and almost hers. She frowned once she entered and saw her sister's stuff thrown everywhere, "Melissa?" She called out and headed upstairs, but she found the house empty.
"Typical." She mumbled under her breath and started to change out of her clothes. She felt her skin crawling at the moment.
Claire waited for her sister to finish getting ready, checking on her phone; she bit her lip at the sight of a text.
Can we meet? The Brew tonight at 8? -Jason
She let out a breath and put her phone away, deciding not to respond; she didn't have it in her to deal with him, not today. Her mind went elsewhere; she thought about what happened on Halloween night, she still had no idea what really happened.
She remembered how angry she was at Alison; it made her sick. Alison made her sick. "Claire." Ashley said a little concern about her oldest daughter. Claire snapped out of it and smiled a bit. "I'm okay, just didn't get much sleep." She admitted as it wasn't a total lie; she didn't sleep much anymore, "Have you heard anything about Tate?" She asked her mother, concerned. "No, unfortunately nothing new. Doctors are still doing everything they can." She promised as it had been a year since Tate's mental breakdown. Claire couldn't help but feel responsible. "Is he allowed visitors?" She asked as Hanna finally walked down, "Starting Monday, yes." She told her daughters.
"Is dad going to come visit?" Hanna asked curiously as their father had barely attempted to make amends with the oldest Marin kid, "I'm not completely sure, but if he doesn't, Tate has us." Ashley said confidently as she loved her kids, no matter what.
"We should head out, we are meeting the others at the grill." Claire said as the air was a little too thick, "Be home by midnight." Ashley said before kissing their cheeks.
Claire smiled before heading out with Hanna, and she pulled her keys out. "Do you think Tate will ever come home?" Hanna asked as she climbed into the car; Claire looked over at her sister. "I don't know, Han. Maybe, it's hard to say." The brunette said honestly as she looked out the window, "I hope so." Claire said before adjusting herself and starting the car.
Hanna went quiet; she was racking her brain for the millions of answers she was looking for. "Me too." She mumbled under her breath and a little lost in her own thoughts. Who took Alison? She had no idea what happened, nor did she really think she wanted to.
Claire began driving through the town, gripping the steering wheel. "How are things with Sean?" She asked her sister to take her mind off of Alison, "Good, I guess, he's a little boring." Hanna admitted as she felt like her life was on a huge pause. "Boring isn't bad, trust me...after Noel Khan..I'd take anything but him." Claire said with a slight shudder as Noel was the epitome of the jackass. "Whatever happened with him?" Hanna asked curiously, "He cheated." Claire said as she continued to drive before pulling into a parking space, "Guys are awful." Hanna said before unbuckling and getting out of Claire's car, and she took a moment to look around.
Claire stepped out of her car and let the door shut behind her.
Inside the grill, Aria sat with Emily. "So how was Iceland?" Emily asked curiously as she had always wanted to travel a little bit before going to college, "It was amazing, I can't wait to go back." Aria said as she noticed the other three walking in. "Is it just me...or do you think they know something about what happened?" Aria asked curiously as they had been acting a little weird since she had returned. "What would they know? They were with us when she went missing." Emily reminded her friend as it didn't seem logical. At least Emily did not want to believe they could do anything like that.
Claire walked over to the table and sat down, "It's good to see you guys." She said, smiling at her friends, "Seriously, it's been a long year without you guys. Iceland was pretty but lonely." Aria said in agreement as she took a sip of her coffee. "So anyone else getting those strange texts?" Emily asked as it definitely scared her, "I thought I was the only one." Hanna admitted.
"Maybe we should tell someone." Emily stated as she was scared, whoever this was, "Are you kidding? We don't know what this person knows." Spencer said, looking at her friends, "It's probably some stupid jock." Hanna chimed in as she didn't want to believe someone was stalking them. She slid a hand through her long blonde hair, "We could tell our parents someone is trying to mess with us, get them to change our numbers?" Aria suggested, and everyone seemed to agree, "That sounds like a good idea." Claire said with a small smile, "We'll tell them tonight, hopefully in a week everything will go back to normal."
"Normal sounds fantastic." Spencer said as she stood up, "And I need caffeine." She said, grabbing her wallet, "Agreed, I'll help." Claire stood up and headed over to the cashier; she thought about her brother. "You could at least return my texts." A voice said from behind them, and Claire turned to find Noel..."You could not be a jerk." Spencer said, rolling her eyes and stepping closer to her friend. "What do you want?" Claire asked him, raising an eyebrow at him and crossed her arms; he broke her heart.
"A second chance." Noel said as he really did have feelings for the older Marin sister, "Not happening." Claire said she no longer had any feelings for him...at least that is what she told herself; before she could react, he grabbed her arm. "Oh come on Claire," Noel started to say before Claire tried to pull back, "Let me go." Claire said through gritted teeth, "Claire." Noel said as Spencer tried to push him back, but they were half his size, "She said let go."
Jason DiLaurentis stepped between them, "This is none of your business." Noel barked at him; Claire was a little taken back but not opposed to this moment, "Noel, unhand my sister or," Hanna said in her usual non-threatening way and started taking off her heels. Noel finally let go. "Screw you." Noel growled at Claire before storming out of the grill.
Spencer let out a sigh of relief and looked over at Claire, "Are you okay?" She asked curiously, "I will be." She said as she rubbed her arm, wincing a bit before looking over at Jason, "Thank you." She said with a small smile.
Jason eyed the older Marin sister before cracking a small smile, "No worries," He said before noticing the others surrounding them. He wasn't the most social person these days, mostly because he felt responsible for his sister's disappearance. "I will see you later?" He asked as he still wanted to see her that night. The older Marin girl hesitated for a moment and nodded. "Definitely." She said she couldn't help but want to see what he had in mind for later that night. Jason nodded and headed out of place.
Claire watched him for a moment before snapping out of it and looking at her friends, "I'm fine, really." She said, sliding a hand through her hair, "What was that all about?" Aria asked curiously before she glanced back at the DiLaurentis boy and then at her friend, "I...nothing, honestly." She told them as she wasn't sure how to really answer them about Jason.
Hanna tried not to laugh at her sister, "Enough about Jason and more about what the fuck was Noel on?" She asked as she did not like that he reacted that way towards her sister. "I really don't know...he has never done that..." Claire said, feeling a little bad for the guy as they dated from Freshman year to almost three months ago...and they were juniors now.
After a few minutes, the group settled into their spots. "I still can't believe Alison is missing." Aria admitted as she sipped on her coffee, "And still no leads." Spencer mentioned as they were all on edge about Alison. "I keep hoping that it's some big prank." Hanna said honestly and crossed her arms; before her eye caught onto a boy that had entered the Grill, she quickly looked away. "That would be an Ali move."
"Who is that?" Claire asked curiously and looked at her sister, "It's nobody...well..he was in my math class this week, some new kid." Hanna said as she shrugged before she noticed the time. "Crap. I have to meet Mona at the mall in an hour." Hanna said before jumping up and collecting her stuff. Spencer raised an eyebrow and checked her own phone before letting out a groan. "Mom wants me home for dinner with Melissa and her new boytoy." She complained as she also stood up. "Who is Melissa seeing now?" Aria asked her friend, "No idea." Spencer sighed a bit, "Hopefully it's not another ex."
Claire chuckled a bit and took a sip of her coffee, "Have fun." She told her that her family was dysfunctional, but that was nothing compared to the Hastings family. "Oh, I will. I'll see you at school." Spencer said before quickly heading out with Hanna.
"And now it's just three." Emily said with a small smile, looking at the two of them. "How...how is Tate?" She asked her friend as she knew it was a hard topic. "We can finally see him starting on Monday, I just...I worry he'll never truly be the same." She admitted to them as she still did not know the full extent of what caused her brother's meltdown.
"He'll be okay, he's a tough one." Aria said and nudged Claire a little, "So seriously, what happened with Noel?" She asked as she worried for her friend. "He cheated."
"Cheated?" Emily asked and frowned. She didn't understand; Noel Kahn and Claire Marin were once the school's power couple. "I found him in bed with Kate. My soon to be step-sister." She said, a little quiet as it still hurt more than she wanted it to. "Hanna doesn't know." She said as she didn't want Hanna doing anything stupid.
"That's awful, I'm sorry," Emily said as she hugged Claire from the side. Claire hugged back a bit before pulling away. "I just...I don't want to relive it. I loved him, and he ruined it." Claire said as she was fully content on being over the boy but his actions...they still hurt.
"Have you talked to him since it happened?" Aria asked as she looked over at her, "No, not really." Claire said honestly as she wasn't in the mood to make amends with him. "And I don't plan on it, not now." She said as she sat up a little more. "What's new with you two?" Claire asked curiously as she was tired of talking about herself. "Other than the usual, nothing, mostly wondering about Ali." Emily said as she still struggled, as she was in love with their missing friend.
Claire took Emily's hand and squeezed it, "I'm sure with them reopening the case, we'll get some answers," She said, although Wilden gave her the creeps. "I hope." Emily said with an uneasy smile, "The texts don't help." Aria chimed in and looked at her phone. "It's probably some idiot jock." Claire said although, they all knew that it wasn't.
"As much as I want to keep chatting, I have to pick up Mike." Aria said as she stood up, along with the others. "I think it's time for us to disband anyway.." She said as another group of girls entered. All of them hated Alison. "Agreed." Claire said as she slid her phone into her back pocket. "I'll call you." She told them as they hugged before heading out.
To be continued...
Please let me know what you think. This fanfiction is not going to follow the original series as much, but some new characters will be introduced along the way, and I hope that you will enjoy my spin on the Pretty Little Liars series. The first season will be a mixture of season one and two events, but again that will be loosely based.
