Oh, little liars.

Season One; Episode Three.

Claire stood in front of her bedroom mirror, taking in her appearance. Claire pulled her dark hair back into a high ponytail, and her makeup was a little on the darker side than usual. "Going on a date?" Hanna asked as she leaned against the doorway of her sister's room. Claire looked back at the blonde version of herself and tried not to blush, "No. God no." She said to her sister and quickly grabbed her keys before turning to her sister. "With who?" Hanna asked with a raised eyebrow and crossed her arms, and she knew her sister way too well sometimes. "It's nobody." Claire said quickly as her phone started to ring and the name Jason DiLaurentis appeared across her screen.

"Oh my god. Alison's older brother?" Hanna asked, a little surprised but not that shocked. "It's not a big deal, nor a date." Claire said as she tried her best not to blush or anything, "He's a friend. But please, do not tell the others. I don't need the third degree."

"I won't, but still...you two would be cute together." Hanna admitted as she grinned, uncrossing her arms. "I need to head out, where is mom?" Claire asked, and Hanna shrugged a bit. "No idea. Probably still at work."

"I'll text her then, I'll see you in the morning." She said before kissing her sister's cheek and heading out of the house, adjusting herself as she walked to her car.

Claire could feel her nerves rising as she thought about Jason; he was not just a silly crush. They had history and secrets not even Alison knew back then. She bit her lip as she began to drive off.

Spencer finished setting the table before she headed upstairs to change. She stepped into her bedroom, "Spencer." A familiar voice said, causing her to turn around; she could feel her body tense at the sight of Ian Thomas. She gulped a bit, "Ian, what are you doing here?" She asked, finally snapping out of it. Ian smiled at her; that smile creeped her out. "I'm with your sister again." Ian said as he eyed Spencer. "Oh wow, I uhh..congratulations." She said with a tight smile.

"I'm happy that you two are getting along." Melissa said as she walked over to Ian, wrapping her arms around Ian. "Of course, hopefully that will last." Ian said with a grin.

Spencer nodded and smiled at them. "I'm going to change for dinner," She told them and quickly went into the room, shutting her door. She even locked it and let out a sigh of relief.

Spencer quickly ran over to her bag and pulled out her phone, and she dialed the first number on her mind. "Please please, pick up Em." She mumbled to herself as she was freaking out a little more than she liked.

"Hello?" Emily asked once she answered her phone, "Em. We have a new issue...fucking Ian Thomas is back with my sister." Spencer managed to speak at a fast pace. "Wait what? Isn't that.." Emily trailed off. "Unfortunately." Spencer said as she felt sick. She felt so ill about Ian. He had been her first time...and she regretted that. "Maybe you should tell your parents?" Emily suggested as she sat down on her bed. "I can't...Melissa already hates me enough."

"She can't hate you forever. Look, I can come over and help you.." Emily offered as she worried about Spencer being alone with Ian. "No, no. This is my problem...I'll try to figure it out."

"Fine but call me once the dinner is over." Emily said in a mom tone, as she was always the more responsible one in the group. "I will. Thanks, Em." She said before hanging up and walking over to her closet.

Claire stood at the barista area, pulling out her wallet to pay for her drink. "I've got it." A voice said and reached over, handing the cashier some money. "Add on a regular black coffee." He said as Claire looked back and smiled a bit at Jason. "You don't have to pay." She told him as just the sight of him made her nervous but not in a bad way. He terrified her in a way, but that made her more interested in the older DiLaurentis boy. "My treat." He said in a deep voice. "Thank you." Claire told him with a smile as she was handed her iced coffee.

"Iced coffee?" Jason asked in a teasing voice and made a face, "It's not as bad as you think." Claire defended as she took a sip and let out a small moan at the taste. Jason watched her for a moment and tried to ignore his thoughts at that very moment.

Claire finished her sip and looked at Jason. "We should sit." She suggested before brushing past him over to a table near the window. "After you." He said as he followed her over after getting his coffee. Claire sat down and looked over at Jason. "How is your mom?" She asked as she knew that it was a rough road for everyone who knew Alison.

"She's coping. Better than she was." He admitted as he leaned back in his seat and kept his blue eyes on the brunette. "And you?" Claire asked him as she was curious about him. "Some days are worse than others. Today not so much." He said with a smile.

"How long are you staying?" She asked him as she played with her straw. "I'm not sure yet, being back hasn't been easy. I just...I wanted to check in on you.." He admitted as their history wasn't exactly one for the books. Claire hesitated a bit, "I'm clean...I have been for a long while..." She said honestly, although the temptation was strong recently. "You and me both." Jason said as he smiled a bit.

Jason leaned forward and instinctively reached over, laying his hand on Claire's hand. "For what it's worth, seeing you has been the highlight of being back."

Claire smiled a bit and blushed harder than she wanted to. "Alison would kill us both if she saw us." She said a little causing Jason to laugh and shake his head. Alison had manipulated everyone back then, but Claire was the only one to stand her ground against his younger sister.

"Maybe I'll stay in town a while." Jason said as he couldn't deny that this felt nice, "I hope so." Claire said as she could feel the tension rising in the air.

Claire took a sip of her coffee and shifted a bit. "And how is your dad?" She asked as she wanted to keep the conversation going as she liked talking to him. "He's...the usual. Always complaining." Jason said as he had a complicated relationship with his father. "He's just angry he no longer has control over me." He said with a slight chuckle as nobody knew of the abuse he suffered. He never talked about it. "Does he still hate my sister?" She asked a bit on the quieter side.

"Even if he does. He's not going to bother either of you." He promised Claire as he wasn't the biggest fan of Alison nor her friends, but he saw them as little sisters... except for Claire. She was different.

Claire nodded and smiled a bit, "Good." She said as she watched him for a moment before taking another sip of her coffee.

"And how is your brother?" Jason asked as he had been friends with Tatum before everything, "He's...we can finally see him on Monday." She told him as she glanced up at him. "I'm still not sure of what happened." Claire admitted as she still blamed herself. "I'm sure you will find out." Jason said as he squeezed her hand, causing them both to realize that they were still touching.

Claire blushed once again and pulled her hand away, "I hope so, he deserves to be out here with us." She said as she tried to control her breathing.

"Have you heard from Julia Fields?" He asked curiously as Julia was the older sister of Emily and had been involved with Tatum before his breakdown.

Claire shook her head and sighed. "No. I think she went to study in California." She told him as she bit her lip and leaned back.

"Maybe we could reach out? See what she knows?" Jason suggested as he sipped on his coffee. "I tried...she's determined to stay as far away from Rosewood as possible." Claire said with a sigh, "And I don't blame her." She admitted as she dreamed of getting away from their small town.

"You can leave Rosewood, but Rosewood will never leave you." Jason said he didn't want to be in Rosewood longer than needed, but he couldn't leave yet. He promised his mother.

Spencer walked downstairs; as she tried to keep her head on straight, she walked into the kitchen. "It smells amazing." She said as she saw her mother plating the food for everyone. "I hope so, it's takeout." Veronica Hastings said with a slight chuckle, and she wasn't much of a cook these days. "Food is food." Spencer said as she started taking the plates to the table, "How are the girls? It was nice seeing them." Veronica said as she walked over to the table.

"They are as good as they can be." Spencer said as she looked over at her mother, "So do you still not approve of Ian?" She asked curiously. "Oh no, not for a second. But I figure they won't last long and we will only have to play nice for a few weeks." Veronica said as she looked at her youngest daughter.

"Are you okay? You seem on edge." Veronica said as she eyed Spencer. Spencer looked at her and smiled a bit. "I'm fine mom. I just...Ian kinda creeps me out, but I'll deal." She admitted as she didn't have to tell her mother everything, but she could let her know she was uncomfortable. "If he does anything or tries anything, don't hesitate to tell me." Veronica said as she hugged her youngest daughter, causing Spencer to relax a bit.

"Are we interrupting?" Melissa asked as she watched them, causing the mother and daughter to pull away. "No, we are fine. Come on." Veronica said as her husband walked into the house not long after. "Let's sit and eat."

Spencer sat down between her parents; at least there, she didn't have to feel as uncomfortable. "So Ian, what are you going to school for?" Peter asked as he began to eat. "Well I've already graduated. I'm going to the new field hockey coach at Rosewood High." He said, causing Spencer to look over, "As in the head coach?" Veronica asked and set her fork down.

"Yeah, it's all still being talked about. Spencer, are you still on the team?" He asked her and looked over.

"Uh yeah, me and Claire Marin are." Spencer replied as she felt a little uneasy.

Ian nodded and smiled, and he liked that information. "That's good to know. At least I'll have two strong players." He said as he eyed Spencer, causing Melissa to clear her throat. "But we also have some other news to share."

"And that is?" Peter asked as he couldn't help but notice Ian's eyes; he decided to keep his mouth shut for now. "We're engaged." Melissa said excitedly and held up her hand, revealing the ring.

"Engaged?" Veronica asked, shocked as she did not see that one coming.

Claire smiled as she watched Jason talk about his summer, it was nice to see the brooding older boy actually smile. She snapped out of it as she heard her phone, she quickly checked it to see Spencer's name on it. "I need to take this." She said as Jason nodded a bit. She answered the phone, "Spencer, is everything okay?" She asked as she heard sobbing on the other end. She frowned as she could not make out what Spencer was saying. "Spence. I can't understand.." She started before another voice came onto the phone. "It's Em. We have a situation...Melissa is engaged to Ian." Emily told her as she held Spencer on the other side. Claire went pale and frowned, "What do you mean engaged?" She asked, causing Jason to raise an eyebrow across the table. "As in the two are getting married." Emily said. "I'll be there in an hour." Claire said with a sigh and hung up.

She looked over at Jason, "I'm sorry, I need to go.." She said to him as she felt guilty; she was enjoying her time with him. "Is everything okay?" He asked, concerned as he watched Claire gather her stuff. "Uhh...it's hard to explain...Ian and Melissa are engaged...Spencer is a mess.." She said as she bit her lip. "Did something happen?"

Claire wanted to tell him, but she knew that she couldn't. "It's not my story to tell...but I'll call you once I'm home." She told him as she stood up, and before thinking about it, she leaned down and kissed his cheek.
