Okay so this is my first time writing anything and for some reason I decided this. I've been thinking of it for a while so I figured I might as well get some writing experience. Be warned though this will be rated M and mostly for gore, fighting and swearing, nothing serious I'm just nervous at writing my first story. There will be transformations, DBZ style fights and it's going to be Kai, Jay, Cole and Zane-centric. I like the four original ninja the best so they'll be the main characters. I'm also not sure how Fanfiction works in terms of uploading so sorry if it ends up looking weird.

In terms of timeline it takes place right after the ninja "Stopped" Harumi from summoning Garmadon. A lot of things are going to be changed from hunted, main villain, how the first realm works, how dragons work, how Oni work. I just think a lot of it was handled weird but I am a teenager watching ninjago so it makes sense. ALSO I'M REMOVING ANY MISAKO/WU ROMANCE, that was really weird to me even as a kid and I'm not sure if it returns in later seasons but Misako will still love her husband, probably less considering the one that's going to show up is only his evil parts but still. The ninja are still going to know airjitzu, I don't know why they got rid of it and they didn't explain why they can't use it again but the ninja just seem overall weaker after hands of time, at least in terms of their elemental powers.
Note: These are human versions of the characters instead of minifigure versions
Chapter 1: The return of Garmadon
From the karaoke machine music plays as five of the ninja sing along off-tune "It's time for training and we're getting started!" Jay pulls the microphone closer to himself "It's on you know!" Darreth washes a glass as he watches them all sing "And we wanna see you whip and shout it!" The baby Wu dances around, enjoying the song that most of his former students are singing as Nya takes the mic "We rock!" It's passed to Cole, possibly the worst singer in the group "You roll!" The entire group starts singing again "They say go slow and everything just stands so still. We so go, go"
The group tries to sing in sync, failing horribly but with smiles on their faces as they've just stopped another evil plot. Misako and Pixal watch their friends attempt to sing, keeping an eye on the currently de-aged Wu. Misako laughs at the little Wu dancing around to the singing and Pixal turns to her. "That must be a strange sight, to see someone you've known for so long suddenly look so young." Misako doesn't stop smiling as she responds to the nindroid "He's always had a young soul, at least he's happy" She idly nods her head to the music as Pixal looks towards the non-singing member of the ninja. "Not everyone is happy" Pixal says as she looks towards the recently betrayed Lloyd
Mikaso walks over to her son in order to talk to him. She seems to know exactly what is wrong as she sits at the table near where he sulks. "You cared for her didn't you?" Lloyd looks up at his mother from his thinking "What does it matter?" he turns around and puts his arms down on the railing to the bar "It mattered to you. bruises go away. bones break and heal. But getting your heart broken?" she rests her hand on his shoulder "Take time to mourn, but don't let it destroy you" Lloyd straightens up "I didn't get my heart broken!" She backs up slightly, not afraid but just giving him some room "Why would I?! I only knew her for a week! I'm the green ninja Not just some kid!" He sits down at the table, only now hearing his teammates singing. He cringes slightly as he continues "I'm sorry mom I'm just…. I don't know, Afraid?" She sits down next to him "You won't become like her as long as you remember what's good in you and all who believe in you" He seems at least slightly comforted by this as he watches his friends jump around and sing with a smile on his face.
He looks around the bar and sees something on the TV but can't hear what it's saying, it shows a live news report from the police station. "Darreth, cut the music" He steps forward to look at the small television on the bar. As the five ninja continue to sing for a second before looking over annoyed. "HEY!" he waves at them to come over as the news report continues "Look" Darreth gets a lovestruck look on his face as he turns up the volume. The reason why he seems even dumber than usual becomes obvious as Gale Gossip is reporting about a breakout from the holding cell, where the ninja just left Harumi "Isn't that where you just threw the princess? Do you think the Sons broke her out?" Half of Darreth's idea seems to be true as Gale confirms that it was the former jade princess that was freed. The reporter continues "Tragically some of the police officers were killed in the attempt to stop the break-out and those that survived are currently in the hospital recovering from near-fatal wounds" The ninja all sand straighter as they hear this and look around for their weapons "The footage from the night was even destroyed, giving us no leads as of now on the break-out" The ninja all get their weapons and run outside to look at the scene of the crime.
The team (plus Samurai X) arrive at the police station to look around for clues. The entire main hall of the station has been completely destroyed leaving no traces of life or any clues. They let Zane and Pixal scan the area as they talk to the police commissioner. "And no-one saw anything? Out of the entire police station none of you saw ANYTHING?!" The red ninja is obviously angered by the destruction as the man responds "No one was left alive or conscious enough to tell us anything, but as soon as the few that made it out wake up we'll be sure to call you ninja" He looks around at the wreckage of his station, and picks up a broken and charred police badge "I don't think we can handle whatever this is" The green ninja shakes his head as he looks around the station "It's fine commissioner. we will find her and whatever broke her out"
Zane and Pixal look around, scanning the area for any kind of energy or print that would give them a lead. Zane stops his sweeping as he walks towards one of the body bags that the police are carrying out "Stop for a moment please. Do you mind if I take a look at that for a second?" The police stop and unzip the bag for him, revealing a person with four fist-sized holes punctured straight through his chest "Four? Did Mr E escape?" He walks back to the others. "We should go talk to the sons of Garmadon, Perhaps they had a group ready in case something like this happened?" Lloyd nods as Cole punches a fist into his palm "Hell yeah! Let's do that truth tea thing again, without me drinking it this time" He points at Jay and Zane "You guys go get the tea we'll head to the prison" The masters of ice and lightning nod as the group splits up
-With Misako, Wu and Darreth
The three remain at the bar, Mikako is currently trying to keep Wu from playing with a shuriken one of the ninja left behind. "No Wu, I know you've lost a lot of your memories but that wisdom had to come from somewhere" He seems defeated and goes to dance as some new patrons have started karaoke in the ninja's absence. Darreth looks over to Misako "Are you sure you don't want to go back to the monastery? Harumi was broken out of prison and who knows where she went?" Misako picks up her glass and takes a drink "No the ninja can take care of whatever broke Harumi out, now that the ritual was stopped they won't have an issue"
She looks at Wu "Though it's never bad to be a little too cautious" She picks up Wu as Darreth follows them out
-With Zane and Jay
The two run down the road to Mystake's tea shop where they find her waving to a couple exiting the shop. Zane walks up to the counter "Ms. Mystake we are in need of the tea of truth" The elderly woman looks at the ice-wielding nindroid "Of course, going after criminals again?"
Zane nods "We're looking for a lead" Jay looks through the shelves of magical tea as the two follow her into the back room where she looks for their order. He reads off some of the labels to himself as he recognizes some. "Hey look Zane! Travellers tea and tomorrow's tea! You wonder what I would look like as an adult?" "You are almost already an adult Jay, I don't think drinking tomorrow's tea will be worth waiting a couple years to find out" Jay rolls his eyes as he looks back to Zane "I didn't say I wanted to drink it, It just made me think"
Mystake reappears with the tea and gives it to zane. "This should be enough, You remember my warning?" Zane nods "We only plan on asking a few questions, nothing too dangerous" She nods as the two run out.
As the two walk down the street Jay stops and looks at a television showing a news report in a store window. Gale Gossip is once again reporting about an attack, this time a break-in at kryptarium prison. "That's right folks, a break-in at kryptarium prison. Nobody has made it in as a meteor landed right in front of the prison less than an hour ago, have aliens invaded our prisons?... Really Vinny that's what we're going with? The camera shakes as if the cameraman is shrugging "Well anyway, the prison has gone into a total lockdown and we haven't had any updates from inside the prison after the lockdown" A figure is thrown from the prison, barely being caught by the guards. Zane and Jay look at eachother and nod before running down the street towards the prison.
-With Lloyd, Nya, Kai, Cole and Pixal
The four ninja and the samurai prepare as they approach the prison, Kai is sharpening his swords, Lloyed is coming up with questions to ask as Cole acts as the prisoner trying to deny all the questions. Nya looks at the prison as they approach "Hey guys? What's going on there?" The prison has a police barricade set up around it and the destiny's bounty slows to a stop over them and the ninja jump down. The black ninja walks over to one of the policemen "What happened here?" "There's been a break-in, some weird meteor smashed into the front of the prison an hour ago, and before anyone could come to check it out the prison was taken over." Lloyd looks over at the prison "This can't be a coincidence, Do you think there was a fourth oni mask or something?" Kai shrugs and starts to run towards the prison, jumping over the barricade. "Who cares if it's them or not we got to stop them!" the other three ninja run after him as Pixal stays to find out about the break-in.
Less than half an hour later Jay and Zane run up to her, as she watches the prison. "Pixal! We saw what happened on the news. Where are the others?" Zane asks as he approaches "They followed Kai in after he decided to go after the one who broke in" Jay groans as he hears that "Of course he did! Of course THEY did! Can't we ever leave shit to the police?" He says this but starts to walk towards the prison after his teammates. "We should go to help, keep us updated on anything that happens Pixal. Though there is a low chance this could be unrelated to Harumi's breakout. If she shows up you'll have to be the first response" She nods and smiles at Zane as he runs after the loudmouthed master of lighting.
The masters of fire, earth, water and energy look around the dark prison as Kai holds a small fireball in his palm liting the way. "This isn't creepy at all, where are all the prisoners?" The master of earth looks around through the flickering light that Kai's flame casts. As they walk around they hear shouting. "GARMADON! GARMADON!" Kai looks at the others as he snuffs out his flame. "Think the sons of garmadon were freed" Cole looks at him and raises an eyebrow from under his hood "Wow really Kai? I couldn't tell." They vanish into the shadows as two members of the biker gang walk through the hallway, holding flashlights in front of them. "Oh now that the boss is here we can get some payback on those ninja" His friend turns to him "Man why bother? The ninja can't stop us now, we can take over the city no problem. Nobody will even remember those guys" The both feel a tapping on their shoulder as they turn around and see a gloved fist impact with their faces.
Jay and Zane walk through the dark building, swiftly knocking any of the gang members they see unconscious. They eventually make it into the main cell block as they hear the gang talking to each other as they start setting up the prison as their new base. The two ninja look around for their teammates as they stick to the shadows, An impressive feat for the two dressed in bright blue and white respectively. Jay presses a button on his coms "Guys where are you? We're at the main cell block the S.O.G are all over the place."
Nya responds as the group walks around on the third floor, looking down at the sons of garmadon running around. "We're a few floors up, we figured it would be the best to take care of as many of the normal members as possible before going to the main room" Jay nods as he looks into the main cell block. "Alright me and Zane are going to start heading up" The nindroid corrects him "Zane and I" Jay waves him off as he throws his hood over his face. The two then continue their way up the prison.
Lloyd POV:
["they were talking about their leader returning, does that mean Harumi? How did she get here? It had to have been the meteor, so whatever made the meteor was what broke her out. Unless she was hiding that she had an elemental power the whole time"] Sensing something Lloyd suddenly stops and whirls around ["What was that!"] He looks at the others and runs off into another hallway. ["I knew I felt something familiar but we stopped the ceremony. How could father be here? Did they bring back his ghost or something?"] As he walks through the darkened hallway he hears footsteps. "Father?" Red eyes open in the shadows in front of him "Hello Lloyd" Lord Garmadon steps forward* as the fluorescent light between the two flickers. "I won't fight you father" "Then you will die. I am your father no longer" Lloyd scowls and the light goes out.
A green glow emanates from Lloyd's palms as he readies into his fighting stance. A purple glow flows from Garmadon. "I will become the ruler of Ninjago boy. My strength will destroy you" The light flickers to life and the two rush forwards. Their attacks clash, Lloyd's palm strike* and Garmadon's fist. An explosion of power from the clash throws the two of them back. Garmadon is thrown into a wall, he immediately launches himself off of the wall back at Lloyd. Lloyd is thrown back and tumbles across the cement floor, he jumps to his feet and throws his arms up to defend himself as his father punches him with his fist flowing a bright purple.
-With the ninja (A little bit before the fight between Lloyd and Garmadon starts)
Jay and Zane climb up the final flight of stairs and almost run directly into Cole. "Cole! We found you guys!" Cole immediately clamps his hand over the master of lightning's mouth "I have no idea how you became a ninja" Jay's muffled speech dies down "According to my scanners we've cleared out most of the sons of garmadon other then the ones in the main cell block" Kai turns around a few times, casting his flame around "Speaking of sons of Garmadon, where'd ours go?" The rest of the group looks around for their green-clad friend "He went after Harumi himself didn't he?" Kai says. Immediately after they hear the explosion of power from Garmadon and Lloyd's clash. "I don't think Harumi can do that!" After saying this Nya runs towards the noise, followed by the others.
Garmadon kicks his son through a wall, into the central cell block. The S.O.G start to retreat from the area as their dark lord starts firing blast after blast at Lloyd, who's energy element automatically reacts creating an aura to defend himself. While the aura takes the brunt of the damage Lloyd is still thrown back until he manages to roll away from a blast and leap to his feet. "I don't want to fight you father, I can save you. I've done it before" A fanged smile grows on the destroyer's face "There is nothing to save! Only my true self has returned, my strongest self!" He opens a palm facing upwards, a purple orb appears and starts spinning. Lloyd grits his teeth from under his mask, looking down at his slightly ripped gi. He holds a palm out in front of himself and fires a sphere of green energy at his father. The blast throws the black-skinned man backwards, though the sphere remains spinning faster and faster.
The ninja rush through the prison, following the noise. They don't make it too far as the fleeing biker gang sees them and immediately attacks. The ninja have little problem with the gang and are easily cutting through the swarm of the bikers. As they fight Kai floats into the air and is thrown back into a wall. The three generals of the S.O.G enter the battle, After Killow throws Kai back he starts to fight with Cole, the two throwing slabs of concrete from the walls at each other before they engage in a flurry of blows. Ultra violet runs towards Jay and the two start to fight, Jay using his nunchucks against Ultra Violets knives.
Zane looks over at Mr E and feels a wave of anger wash over him. This nindroid had attacked him and left a trap for his brothers. This mysterious robot brings nothing but danger to the people of ninjago. Zane rushes at the other nindroid as Mr E draws his swords. The two clash as Zane covers his bladed bow in ice. Zane takes an arrow out of his quiver and attempts to stab it into the black and red nindroid who jumps away from the attack. "I'll ask you again E. Who" He slashes with his bow. "ARE" The silent robot slashes at Zane who easily avoids the attack "YOU" Zane throws the arrow that he holds into the biker's helmet, cracking it.
Nya and Kai battle against the rest of the gang, as their teammates have gone off to battle the generals. "Shit they're really just leaving it to us huh?" Kai says this, his sister can tell he's smiling from underneath his mask "Maybe you should keep up with your training more hothead, these guys are barely worth the time" She slams the butt of her spear into one of the S.O.G members head. They hear another explosion come from the main room and Nya turns to her brother. "Go help Lloyd, that has to be where he is" Kai shoots a torrent of flames from his hand to fend off the S.O.G "What?! I can't leave you here with all of these guys to fight" The bikers throw weapons through the wall of flames, Nya starts to deflect them back through the flames. "I'll be fine, we're basically through with these guys anway" Kai looks conflicted for a second before dropping the wall of flames and using spinjitzu to dash across the walls past the swarm of bikers.
Back with Lloyd
["How did he get this strong?! He isn't possessed by the overlord anymore how could he have gotten this powerful?"] Lloyd manages to stand from the crater he created when thrown down through the second floor. He looks up trying to keep track of the destroyer but is completely caught off guard as his father appears in front of him and holds his hand towards his son's face. Garmadon flicks his son in the face, sending him hurtling through the walls of the prison and into the central pillar of the room. Lloyd's aura barely manages to flicker to life before shattering as the lord of evil appears in front of the green ninja, kicking him through the pillar.
Kai enters the main room just in time to see Lloyd impact into the ground, cracking the cement floor of the prison after being sent straight through the watchtower in the center of the room. Kai runs to his defeated teammate, his green gi almost completely destroyed after his beating at the hands of his father. "Lloyd!" He slides to a stop next to the chosen ninja and looks him over to assess his injuries. ["He should be able to recover, He's taken worse. Getting him out of here is going to be a problem though. I recognize that power"] Kai stands and looks at the man that looks like he was crafted from the night itself. "How's it going Mr G? You're looking better than the last time I saw you. You know, being slowly turned into a snake person and all" Garmadon growls as he walks through the hole in the pillar. "The red one, master of fire. We've fought before'' He now stands in front of Kai, being three or four inches taller than kai, he looks down at the red ninja. "I don't remember it ever going well for you, not while you were alone anyways" Kai smirks under his mask "My friends will be here soon, but don't worry about the past Donny I've learned a few tricks"
Kai's fists light on fire as he goes to punch the master of destruction. "Maybe boy, but I'm not interested in fighting you now" Garmadon easily ducks under the punch and uppercuts Kai with his fist covered in purple energy. Kai is thrown into the air as he coughs blood into his mask. He slams through the railing and now gets to his feet while on the third floor. "Ow Ow Ow. Shit he's strong" Kai walks to the hole in the railing and looks down as he sees Garmadon squat down next to his son, Kai can't tell from where he is but the king of evil talks to his son before creating a ball of energy at the tip of his finger.
Kai sees the latter action and ignites his fists on fire again. He then jumps from the third floor and throws his hands out, firing the two flames at Garmadon. He then uses airjitzu to slow his fall to the ground. Garmadon fires the ball of energy at one of the flames, destroying it. The other flies straight into his face, barely singing him. Kai swears as he lands and fires bolts of fire at Garmadon. ["Alright I need a plan. I can't take more than two of those attacks"] Garmadon forms an aura of destruction energy, copied from Lloyd's energy. The fire barely affects the dark lord as he launches himself at the master of fire. Kai immediately uses airjitzu to fly up to the second floor, once he lands he continues throwing bolt after bolt of flame at his former teacher.
"So Garms what's with all the new moves? Don't remember you having an aura or having this much purple to throw around" Garmadon smirks as he points his index finger at the red ninja, firing a compact bolt of destruction energy. Kai sidesteps the energy, once it collides with the wall behind Kai there's a large flash of purple light and the entire wing of the prison is destroyed. Kai slowly turns towards the now lack of wall behind him "Uhm, alright then" He takes a breath in and out puts his hands together and conjures as much flame as possible in his cupped hands. He jumps from the railing and fires directly down at Garmadon. The excess flame starts to melt the cement at the evil emperor's feet, as his aura takes the brunt of the attack. He is forced to throw up his arms to block the waves of flame. After Kai runs out of his fire he uses airjitzu to fly directly to Lloyd. As the flame dies Garmadon sees the red ninja check his son's injuries before picking him up to run.
Garmadon goes to chase after them but can't seem to move his feet, he looks down and sees the melted cement covering his feet up to his shins. "A clever tactic, but nothing more then a few seconds" He points both his hands down and fires beams of pure destruction from them propelling him from Kai's makeshift trap towards his two opponents. Stops propelling himself right as he's about to collide with the red ninja as he throws his arms out and fires a shotgun-like blast of energy into the master of fire's back. Kai is immediately blasted into the ground and slides across the stone floor, ripping apart his gi and tearing through his skin. Kai immediately jumps to his feet as Garmadon's blast slows his momentum as he walks to the red ninja and holds up both index fingers, firing miniscule blast after blast at the barely standing ninja. "You did well, I'll have to leave you alive" He stops firing "I cannot grow without opponents and you ninja have done perfectly for the past few years" He turns to his son "You seem to have grown in creativity, even after you reached your ceiling in power. My son however has only wallowed in his loss of golden power. I need opponents that are intelligent enough to keep my interested"
He then looks back at his son, who can barely crawl after being easily thrown around by his father. "I should get rid of him, he is the greatest threat in terms of power" He starts his walk over to the beaten green ninja. As he walks Kai summons all the fire he has left into his right hand, Garmadon turns to look at the giant plume of flame that now covers half of the room they're in. "Though cleverness in battle doesn't translate to intelligence I suppose." He turns and starts to walk back to kai "Can't have an enemy stupid enough to get themselves killed without growing" Kai smirks from underneath what remains of his mask "Lets hope this works" The fire condenses onto his fist. Kai's glove and sleeve begin to burn away from the power of the flame. He holds his fist in front of himself as the brilliant fire shines through the room.
The ninja and sons of Garmadon look to the main cell block as the heat washes through the hallway. Cole takes advantage of the distraction and uses his earth punch to knock Killow into the ground. He then starts to run towards the main room "What the hell is that?" Nya who helped Jay defeat Ultra Violet with the help runs after Cole, promptly followed by Zane who creates a wall of ice to block off the S.O.G. Jay barely manages to get through before the wall is closed behind him.
Kai looks at Garmadon who's taken a step back from the heat and light that is produced by the condensed flame that covers Kai's fist. The entire top half of Kai's gi has been burnt off as the stone by his hand is evaporated, even Kai's fireproof hand is being burned by the intensity of the fire. "Thanks for the idea, have fun in the departed realm" Kai brings his fist back and charges at Garmadon, eyes flaming with determination.
The ninja enter the room to see Kai burst forward at Garmadon. With what seems to be a miniature inferno covering his hand. "What the hell?" Jay looks at his hotheaded teammate as Cole immediately reacts "Jay you're the fastest, we need to get Lloyd out of here!" Jay looks at Kai as he makes contact with Garmadon and freezes as the power of the punch fills the room with light.
Kai aims his punch directly at his former master's heart, regret pangs through his chest as he never wished to kill his former master. But this is not his master, it is an evil shadow of the worst of him. Kai throws his fist forward with enough force to break steel. Though the attack never hits its mark as Garmadon uses a burst of purple energy to increase his speed as he barely manages to evade the prison-shaking punch. He now stands slightly to the left of Kai as the explosion of flame is thrown through the prison, flowing through the giant hole made by Garmadon's earlier attack. The flames rush into the desert, turning dunes of the desert behind the prison to glass.
Garmadon looks to the left and whistles at the destruction of the last ditch effort punch thrown by Kai. "Impressive, though that's the last of your power isn't it?" Kai collapses to one knee as the part Oni man looks down at him. "No matter, you push me to improve with attacks like that" His fist glows with purple energy "A pathetic effort with decent ingenuity" All the ninja rush forward, Jay taking a moment to come to his senses before starting to run to Kai in an attempt to save him.
None of the ninja that just arrived manage to get to Kai in time as blood is splattered across Kai's back. He lifts his head to see Lloyd had pulled what was left of his power into a final burst of speed. He tried to palm strike his father with what little of his power he had left, only managing to bruise his fathers face. Garmadon's strike however had punched straight through Lloyd's shoulder, as blood dripped from his hand onto Kai he pulls his hand back out. Lloyd collapses at his fathers feet as blood pools at the dark emperor's bare feet. Garmadon takes a step back and walks off into the darkness of the prison.
The ninja get to Lloyd and Kai and check their injuries. Cole immediately picks up Lloyd, the most injured out of the two as Zane lifts Kai. "Shouldn't we chase after Garmadon? He did this to Lloyd and my brother!" Cole shakes his head at Nya's question "He's too strong now, we need a plan and we need everybody" Nya nods as the group exits the prison. All of the S.O.G have left from the earlier assault so the ninja get through with no issues, making it to the destiny's bounty.
Once they get there and get the two injured ninja into the medbay they start the flight to the hospital. On the way there Pixal taps Zane on the shoulder and leads the others to the main deck where Garmadon is making a speech on the TV. "Hello again Ninjago, it's been too long hasn't it? I'm sure you already have heard of the police and the ninja seemingly stopping the ritual so I won't bore you with the details of how I got here and looking like this." He gestures at himself in his original black skinned, red eyed, white tattooed self. "But I'm here to tell you that I'm going to be the emperor of Ninjago, Your ninja cannot stop me" A recording of the fight between Garmadon and Lloyd appears and is promptly followed by a recording of the fight between Garmadon and Kai.
"So I will be enforcing my law across all of Ninjago soon, but you'll have some time. I want to do it personally" The feed cuts out and goes to Gale Gossip giving a rundown on what just happened. The phone rings and Cole goes to pick it up "Yeah I saw what was on the news" A pause as the person on the other side of the line speaks "You're sure it's Mystake's tea shop?" Another pause "Alright we'll go there now" He hangs up the phone "We're going to Mystake's tea shop, little Wu has been drawing the symbol and repeating Lloyd's name so it has to mean something" Jay nods "I wouldn't be surprised if she's got crazy healing tea" Nya changes course and they head to the tea shop
Alright sorry if it seems like I'm rushing through the setup to Hunted and I kinda am. I just have a larger plan for that and stories stemming from it. So I mostly used this chapter for setup and showing how elemental powers can still grow and such. R&R and all that I'm going to continue work on chapters and hopefully finish in a week or two on the next one.
